Overall great resort. The pool was very nice, the common areas were cozy and inviting, and there was plenty of room for all the events.
Attended a conference at this resort and spent 2 nights. Nice rooms and suites that were very clean. Many areas to relax by a fire or get comfy on a couch. Great breakfast buffet (not free). The conference rooms are huge, have good acoustics, and pleasing decor. Highly recommend this resort for your next conference or just a weekend away!
Room was not ready until after 4 pm. The rooms are outdated and the customer service is subpar. Would not recommend staying here with so many cheaper hotels nearby.
Classic course between Sheldon's Nature Preserve and on the north coast. Great greens, cut short and quick and a challenging layout. Friendly and helpful staff are on hand to help!
What a wonderful resort! Everything here was perfect rooms are nice great atmosphere.
I only was in the conference room area and did not stay at the hotel. The conference rooms are nice. I did not interact with staff to make the reservations so I'm not sure of the process.
Wonderful accommodations, enjoyed immensely. Faulty shower was the only issue we had.
While the staff is extremely friendly and courteous the price you pay is way too high for the quality of the rooms. I've stayed at red roof inns that had nicer rooms than this place.
Stains on carpets, walls, sheets and in shower. Pulled back the sheets and a little black bug was crawling across it, not sure what it was. Pool was closed and renovations going which made it very loud and have the amenities were unusable yet still paid full price for stay. Complained several times and manager has yet to respond despite telling me would contact me back next day and 4 follow up calls and almost a month later and still no contact. Apparently when you complain they charge you again and won t tell you why. Ruined a weekend getaway that parents with small children rarely get.
Beautiful place, sorry they are remodeling, some of the decor will be demolished, brought by Cedar Pointe, alot of history. Staff , friendly, professional and informative of venue, be back next year
Went to visit family and friends in Sandusky and had an unfortunate experience at this hotel. It was $179 per night... $214 with tax. We supposedly had a group rate since the attendees took up at least 12 rooms. Upon walking into my room, I noticed cobwebs on the lamps (see pictures), spiders in the corner, mold in the bathroom, and dust galore on the surfaces and blowing in the air. I was immediately appalled. I did call the front desk attendant to see if anyone could come clean the room quickly, and an abrasive attendant responded that they would, but they never showed before I had to leave for my event.
When I returned, the room was still not clean. Very disturbing. Our group then decided to go to the hotel restaurant when we got back. I have to say, this was very slow service WITHOUT a smile. Myself and the group were all very polite and appreciative, yet the staff seemed unhappy and unresponsive.
Also, if you stay at the hotel, be sure to bring flip flops or slippers and WEAR them. The carpet is from the 80s and is gross.
I would recommend to the owners to update the rooms - or at LEAST clean them. Also, be kind and be attentive to guests to inspire them to come back.
We really enjoyed our 5 days at this resort. We found the rooms clean, the staff very friendly and accommodating, the restaurant was excellent and the grounds absolutely lovely.
Horrible. Management doesn't seem to care when people are not satisfied and they do not return calls
A wonderful place. I will be staying there again in the near future.
I wish they gave the workers more money because they do a real good job for not much pay
This place is nice they say...Everything is dated, room is damp and smells. Has to have a dehumidifier in the room. Really annoying and the beds are crap. Spend your money elsewhere
Little expensive, room was musty and needs updated
Made Reservations for 4 rooms , provided a $100.00 deposit for each room. Upon check-in Sawmill increased the rate on three of the rooms. The increase was more than $50.00 per room per night. Sawmill change the rate and would not accept the reservation rate, The front desk management is slow, lack people skills, and are not trained to address reservation issues. We will not trust Sawmill in the future.
Would not recommend for allergy/ashma suffers. All the rooms have carpeting with a musky smell, the bed springs also stuck out. I was incredibly shocked to not see this as a problem here in the review section. They must be smokers, or just used to old hotels. The staff is lovely,
that's all I can say.
Clean rooms, really friendly staff, really nice grounds, and if you go for Colossalcon, they have a shuttle service to Kalahari!
The grounds are lovely and the staff is great. The bed was not very comfortable but the rest of the stay made up for that.
Attended silent auction Festival of Lights for different Charity's
The hotel need to be updated, but is still fun. Pools are decent.
Love staying at Sawmill Creek. It's a very nice and clean hotel with all the amenities. Love the decor of the place too. This place has everything you could want. Staff is super friendly too.
This place is in financial ruins and cannot operate properly... Do not stay here, don't be fooled. If you do...you will regret it.
Great place, with an amazing indoor and outdoor pool. Loved it
Played at a nicely run charity golf outing. Fun day!
Delicious food. Spouse disappointed by absence of bacon at Easter brunch, but such a large selection of very delicious food, did not bother me. I grew up with distain of of couliflower, but consumed their Cauliflower rice soup---love at first bite!!! (Day prior Easter)I must have that recipe . One must take into consideration that after Easter Brunch, must obtain dinner and next day meals, elsewhere, which is challenging, so bring food/snacks. The rooms have refrigerator. Bring your sodas, liquid beverages- machine drinks are costly, but available.
Beautiful , peaceful decor. Loved the pool .
Took nature walk at facility. The friendly squirrels are expecting to supplied with unshelled peanuts, which is supposed to be a no-no. Figured out their eagerness for human contact after located gentleman visitor with the said peanuts and notified him they were eager for his return back via trail. I saw people droping popcorn- don't bother, just making a mess. Let it be on your conscience r/t supplying the wild life food .
Very pleasant staff nice grounds some areas need updating
The room and resort were pretty alright, no fridge or microwave in the room
Like the boutique. Have heard rooms need updating. Nice golf course. Good restaurant. Nice pool. Cedar point has bought it so maybe they will put money into it. Hope they keep shoos as is though. Drive an hour coup l.j e times a year just to shop and have lunch.
Beautiful Resort, I loved the Native American decor and theme. Employee's were beyond expectional. Amy at the front desk made out check in quick and easy and Aida in Trapper's outpost gave us perfect customer service and even chatted with us a little bit. The room was nice, clean, and comfortable.
My only complaint is that the hot tub wasn't really a hot tub, it was warm but not got fun warm. However, they have a sign up that they will be working in the pool area April 6 til noon, so they may be working on that problem.
Thank you for a wonderful weekend stay! I plan on returning on the future!
The rooms were comfortable and clean and the resort itself beautiful. Only drawback - wifi is so spotty it's non-existent.
Bad customer service, they charge more than booked price, after 2 weeks they are just giving excuses and not even and apology.... Will never comeback!!!!
Went for a graduation party. It was gorgeous inside and out.
Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff, food was great.
So far nice. Its very big. Everyone is nice. We haven't had food from the restraunt yet
Beautiful place. My family has been coming here for Easter brunch for a few years. The food is pretty good and the setting is gorgeous. If you have dietary restrictions this is not the place to go. If you must, bring your own dressings/condiments as most everything has dairy.
Beautiful property, nice rooms not overly fancy. Grounds and facilities excellent for a national specialty dog show which was the reason for my visit
Great place close to Attractions. Nice pools for kids and incredible golf course.
The food and staff are excellent. Been going here for Easter and Thanksgiving for four years every year....
Beautiful location with a lively, entertaining atmosphere.
Staff members were accommodating but I was upset that they'd seem to have lost our event reservations which were done in February...Lisa quickly fixed the issue. Organization members voted overall good experience . Everyone loved the food and atmosphere with vendors present for mother's day shopping before and after our program.
Lovely place...our kids enjoyed the huge indoor pool and we had fun playing cornhole on the lawn. Pretty location. Very close to the sports force park so it was convenient as well. They're doing some construction on the building and updates throughout. Recommend
Beautiful resort but staff have terrible attitude problems. Life guards are very rude and either need to be taught how to do their jobs politely or not at all because they really made the resort look like crap. Nice pool though...would've been better if the staff wasn't so inconsiderate.
Gorgeous. This resort is absolutely beautiful, both inside and out. The atmosphere is very romantic while at the same time comforting, cozy, and family friendly. The decor is rustic themed with several authentic Native American artifacts that are labeled and described for guests.
Our room was immaculately clean, staff was courteous and professional, attentive, and knowledgeable of the local area. The resort offers many activities for outdoor lovers with the golf course and creek/lake nearby, as well as a pool and a small game room for those indoor inclined. They also have a small lounge that happened to have a local DJ the night we were there, which seemed to draw many locals as well as guests. Drinks were reasonably priced and several specials were offered.
Overall, this was a wonderful place to visit. Going once will make you want to return.
Very scenic resort with a great golf course, and a relaxing beach.
Cool native American design. Like the layout with separate lodges. Beds could be upgraded, wifi in rooms is very poor. No fridge, clock/alarm, microwave. Rooms are clean. Solid for a 3 stat hotel.
I wish there was a refrigerator and microwave in the rooms. The beds were also too firm, but the staff was nice and the rooms were spacious
Went to the restauraunt bar and had a cozy night. Very chill in early May before the crowds come in.
Really nice place. Not very hard to find even though I'm from out of town. Just a quick few turns off the highway. Very well kept and beautiful property. The staff were all very kind and hard working. Would definitely recommend. 4/5 stars only because the place is hard to navigate around with all the people going through to see the lights. And not enough room for all the traffic.
Had great time here with friends! Loved the close vicinity to the marsh and Lake Erie.
Why didn't I read more reviews first...aughh. The resort itself was outdoorsy and beautiful greenery. The room was terrible. The beds were so awful I couldn't sleep. They charge you a $10 bed tax each night....for what??? The beds are as old as the resort. Everything had a must damp feel so you had to leave your AC up in order to breathe. My nose was stuffy after night one from whatever was going on.
The beach was my reason for coming to this resort and the 3rd day there (yes, we stayed...) they were (meaning either the resort or the ppl that live in the villas) hosting a party/event and had it all blocked off, we couldn't even go back.
The restaurant. Samon Run. Overly priced for the food portions, and the product. I couldn't believe the price. The pub......it needs a serious remodel. It's very outdated inside, and against older lives in smell. Thank goodness it was nice out to sit outside or we would of left.
Family friendly....nahh not so much. We were one out of like 2 families there, it was mainly men on the resort to golf. If you have small children the only thing to do is the pool which...well wasn't the best. Needs updated.
Staff as everyone stated were very nice, but the cost of this resort did not live up to my expectations at all.
We will not be back.
I attended a weekend conference at Sawmill Creek mostly experiencing their convention center facilities for the presentations. The service in those facilities was excellent and our group was well cared for and it allowed us a great place to gather and fellowship as a group. I also enjoyed the time spent in the rooms where our people gathered (even though I didn't stay overnight there myself) Sawmill Creek was supportive of our groups unique needs for a place we could all hang out and wander to and from each other's rooms. Their flexibility and their service was stellar.
Parked in the lot to fight a Zapdos in Pokemon Go and no one got mad, would recommend.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Sawmill Creek Resort with a group for business. The rooms, decor, amenities and food were all amazing. Definitely looking forward to returning for pleasure with my family.
nice hotel, really nice place to stay. my family stayed here for a baseball tournament. but is over priced
Overall well maintained and clean. House keeping does not double back if you are still there. Location is beautiful. Lots to do there and very close to main attractions like Kalahari and Cedar Point. Lovely lodge feel to it. Would stay again.
Nice course. Don't pay full price. Worth $50 per 18 max.
Beautiful resort. Have to travel far to get anywhere, however
The was like the Ghost of a 4 Star Hotel Past. You could tell it used to be very nice, but it has not stood the test of time. The staff were very nice, but the room smelled of mildew. Our ice bucket had mold growing in it. The hot tub was tepid and the indoor pool seriously needed a paint job. I could tell this was a high end resort that had some disrepair. The beach was great and, again, the staff were very friendly.
It s close to lake Erie and to Sheldon nature preserve. We took a walk through it had beautiful scenery with lots of wildlife. We saw a doe crossing our path.
It is very good hotel I know it very well xq work and I am Mexican to greetings escat and dayana many abrasos bay
Good service and good food and enjoyable entertainment. Ran out of the specials on a Saturday night, but we didn't order till 9pm. Several nice fish and steak selections. Prime rib was very good. Limited dessert menu, but a few goodies. Nice wine list for everyone. Overall very good and worth the trip.
