Not as high class of a place as they think they are.
Very beautiful. Rooms are nice and staff are very helpful.
Not worth the money. False advertising. The room was small, air conditioning didn't work right. Paid ahead of time for 3 nights, regarded doing that once we got in our room. Cant walk thru the building to get to the pool because its closed off for construction. Also cant get to ice machine its in construction areatoo. Have to go into another building for ice. Very very disappointed
This resort on hotwire was rated very high. Many things are very dated. Our room had one bed where there was dirt in the bed and hairs. The sheets clearly had not been changed. The floor was also gritty and the carpet was not vacuumed. The rooms are small and the mattress was old. When I went to the front desk to tell them about the sheets, they sent someone from laundry to change the bedding. These ladies were great and couldn't believe what they saw. We ate at one restaurant, which is actually two, with different doors but the same in the middle. The food was good but a very limited menu if you don't eat seafood We were excited about the uniqueness of the resort but would never choose to stay here again. Too many disappointing aspects.
Severely dated establishment with a huge flying insect problem inside. The rooms are very very dated, hard beds and the smell of mildew throughout. Stay at one of the other properties around there...but not there
Great deal on a Cedarpoint package. Nice clean room, good food, & friendly staff. I would definately stay here again.
The resort is a bit dated but it has a nice lake beach. I hear they have new management so things could improve soon.
I would give negative stars if i could! We arrive at a resort that was said to be beautiful, private, and a couples romantic get away that however wasnt the case..for about $480 for 2 nights we arrive to this place with their computers down for days and not knowing of a dog show (anyone knows me knows i love animals but not on vacation) 100s of dogs. I needed a noise free weekend as they falsify advertise. They put us on the first floor in the middle of them, barking, crying all night long probably piss everywhere bc it smelled like it. We knew this was pet friendly but not like this! How can anyone call this a resort bc of the golf course? We then got a poolside room, opened our lovely window to see red danger tape and a empty pool! Im pretty sure we paid more for that. Me being pregnant upon entering the room it smelled like stale cigarettes/ mildew/ mold and had the nerve to tell us about their no smoking policy and we will be charged $250 if there's any signs of it. Ants in the bathroom floor, no hot water, no fridge or microwave, stains on the his and her robes provided, called for room service which they're no where to be found according to the front desk. My husband went to share his concerns with the front desk the first night and they were actually pleasant. I believe one was named Amy and the other was a young gentlemen. My husband explained bc of the weather we didn't want to go out anywhere and me being pregnant i needed something thinking room service right? The young guy said he'd even pick something up for us which was very sweet and the only good thing about this place. The Gift shop that sold snacks/ drinks etc was never owned. The lobby was disgusting. Chip bags, pop cans, beer bottles, chicken wings in boxes from the night before with signs saying no food or drink in that area lol yeah that worked out. Hotel really cares about their facility. My point is they should not be a 4 star hotel charging that much for a night. The next morning my husband was pretty upset and went to the front desk again and spoke to a very unpleasant women. She was rude, not accommodating, argumentative and had the nerve to tell my husband that after he stated the hotel 6 would of had similar accommodations for half the price she said we should of stayed there then! He brought up the pool and she said "it aint broken" caution and danger tape on memorial day weekend is pretty bad for a outside pool. There's so much more i need to list that just keeps popping up. Never left a day of checkout by 7am to go home and never thought id say this but Illinois, we missed you. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY PEOPLE! THEY ARE NOT WHAT THEY ADVERTISE!
Fun staff and good location near the lake and Cedar Point. Can't say it's worth the price though. This is a very dated property, everything is 20+years old. The rooms look, sound, and smell like a route 66 motel, thin walls, mysterious stains, and obnoxiously loud AC units included. However instead of $40 a night, it's closer to $150. Skip it and find a Hilton for that price.
Dissappointe salmon restaurant was not open. They are on limited timr open. Only for breakfast. They are open only thursday through sunday. This was going to be a special time. Every 9 11 we eat at sawmill to celebrate that dsy. Also that my girlfriend was here because she was looking at apts on that day as she was returning to the area. We celebrate every 9 11 there as a special reminder of what happened and returning her here
3rd time we have stayed here. Normally with family and multiple rooms. We love the mood and atmosphere.
However, one of our rooms smelled very musty. Once we called on it, maintenance was in our room very quickly and changed filters on the air conditioner system. It didn't really help much.
There was no wifi in our rooms, and staff continuously ignored our requests to look at it. Limited amenities (no fridge or microwave) with hard beds. Location is gorgeous right off of lake Erie. Would not stay here again next time I'm in the area.
My family decided to rent kayaks for an hour there. It was quite fun! We then ate at the Salmon Run Restaurant, and the food was much better than what I was expecting. I should note the hotel was dealing with a water mane break, but the staff handled the situation very well.
Beautiful amenities, superior customer service, great food selections, and would definitely recommend.
Here for the golf only. The course itself is in dire need of attention. The layout is beautiful and the greens are okay. Not great, just okay. Cartpaths are wearing badly. The fairways were mostly in good shape. The problem I have is the price... This is a $40-18 course MAX and yet Cedar Point is charging $65! Play elsewhere until the course matches the rate because as of now, they are wasting a Fazzio design and real estate.
Great service, hot tub wasn't very hot :( good fishing by beach, a lot to do!
Beautiful place! Reasonable prices. And friendly staff.
Sawmill creek has some poor mangement got staff who is racist lets staff do nothing but the beds staff will use sinyority as power so they to dont have to work housekeep not house keeping its dirty keeping raithier have comlants then fix a man was terminated for ding his dutys walkd to work got hit twce was cand for it tryong to better the department and all the above
Decent comfy hotel. Super large, so be prepared for a walk. Several quietand abandoned areas to really chill. Sorta creepy, but I guess that's the appeal
Started off nice then an ice storm came thru and no heat for a few hours then part in hallway at Midnight so called desk then party again in next roomonth at 2am called front desk then I actually wanted to go complain face to face at 2:30am and talked to security guy. He just told them to be quiet and not disburse. So didn't get much sleep and if I wanted a party atmosphere my family would of gone to Motel 6. Went to get milk for my 7 year old next pool and was out of milk. Huh??
So won't go back again..
We attended a wedding at the lodge. The ceremony was nice looking over the water. The food was above average as well. However the room was very hot even though it a mild June evening.
Relatively quiet resort, close to Cedar Point with a quality golf course.
Place needs completely updated. Beds very uncomfortable. Fitness room equipment almost all broken and wore out. Game room outdated and a joke. Salmon run resteraunt food ok at best, band average a lot of elderly people dancing seemed to be having a great time. In my opinion a horrible place for young family. Pool looked nice but was crowded probably because nothing else fun to do.
Very nice place ! There are a lot of activities around (beach, tennis, golf...). I loved that place !
The rooms need MAJOR updating. No mini fridge or microwave. It s 2018, don t make me fill an ice bucket at a resort .
Did LOVE the pinecone wallpaper border in the room.
Room was clean and bed was comfortable but the room was musty and humid as though it hadn't been used or open for days.
We were here for a dance competition and didn't stay here or eat here but the banquet hall facility was nice and the bathrooms were clean.
It is very nice. We were there for an event. I loved walking the grounds.
The food was amazing. Service was spot on. This was a great Easter experience for my family.
Visited to swim in the outdoor pool. Life guards were very friendly, and so were the other workers and visitors.
Very nice resort. Carpet in our room needed replaced. Multiple restaurants and bars. Had a great band at the Black Bear.
We booked a room with two beds, a sofa, a fidge, and a fireplace. When we came to check in after a VERY long day at ceder point, we were told that room is in a "wing" is being remodled and had to give us a different room. Told us we would get a discount and then we got charged MORE than the original price we booked for!? Then we get to the room, no sofa, no fridge, and no fireplace! We had 4 adults and a child. Thank god we brought a blowup mattress! VERY disappointed!!! Would NEVER recommend!!
Very professional staff; very clean; comfortable beds; great location; perfect for our church weekend retreat.
I'm here on a Christian retreat ant the service is excellent
The conference facilities are very nice. The catered food is good. The rooms are dated, though, and could use a makeover.
Father's Day brunch was excellent! First time attending with my other half and all the kiddos
Rooms and pools are outdated, matresses are spring coil... bumpy :(
Food is delicious :) Beach is beautiful and shady, loved our time at the beach!
Sawmill Creek was WONDERFUL! When our original hotel canceled on us, they went out of their way to help us. They went above and beyond. They helped make my daughter's wedding day so special! I would HIGHLY recommend Sawmill to everyone.
We were able to check-in early. Lady who checked us in was nice and bell boy helped with luggage which I gave an extra star.
Walked in and it had an old moldy smell, didn t have much AC in the hallways. I saw dogs there as there was a show. I called downstairs asking how they clean their carpets, front desk told me they shampoo the carpets after someone who has pets leave. I took her word and started to setup my room. After about 5min walking around in my black socks, I went to stretch a little from a long drive. I saw a bunch of dog hair on my black socks.. shampoo, yeah right. Because my son is allergic to pet dander, I immediately called front desk to bring a vacuum up to my room and I will vacuum it. Once i started vacuuming, I hear tons of stuff being sucked up. I was just disgusted and had to throw out my new balance black socks. I then immediately made sure to keep the shoes on the side entrance. That wasn t enough as I thought of the AC filter needed to be changed as my son got a fever due to his allergies 2 days in a row. The next morning we had a bunch (30-40) ants crawling on our room AC unit. I called front desk that morning, they said the maintenance staff is not in and will have to wait. I waited over 2.5 hours, but nobody came. I decided to put my expensive oils to use to kill the ants and prevent from coming in. After I notified the other parents from the baseball team, of how the rooms are not cleaned, prior to check in, a parent posted how a dog just pooped in the banquet room. That s disgusting and think about that s our eating area. YUK! While going to the pool with my child, the cleaners in my hallway had the vacuum inside the dirty towel bag with a hill of dirty towels on top of it. Yeah, I don t think they vacuum anything in hallway or the rooms. I will definitely never ever come back. As I was excited prior to check in, there was so much kids can do, but in the end, it was majority swimming as the outdoor facilities are quite run down, such as tennis courts not playable as it has cracks and shifting, basketball court area not safe to play. I should have checked out with no penalty and went to holiday inn Express a few minutes away to pay the same price and less hassle and headache and fever.
I can only share on what I know. Dog competition. Cold and clean. Lunch ward good but bug in Sprite.
Stopped in for drinks at the Saloon. They had a good vibe and live music.
Absolutely beautiful! So many little critters to see while taking a walk
Had a blast! The place was really beautiful, their pool was great they deserved my five stars..
The Easter brunch today was amazing and delicious! So many good food options!
The "resort" had very few guests. The room my husband and I stayed in was OK, but outdated. The room didn't have a refrigerator, but for an additional $10.00 they would put one in our room. We had dinner in the Salmon room, the upscale restaurant. The food was good as long as you didn't mind waiting 45 minutes to get your food. I thought that was a long wait considering there was only one other couple in the dining room. Breakfast also had a long wait, they seemed to be having a rush with three tables of customers. The breakfast food was average.
Front desk is excellent, rooms not so much. Room has a odor. It smelled like mildew and window did not open.. other problem I had were fixed right away. There was no fridge in the room!!. This"resort" needs a total remodeling. Luckily someone else paid for the room. If it were me I would have called corporate and complained.. no working window! Fire hazard waiting to happen.
Sawmill Creek is an ideal mid-sized resort to retreat. Here I got that rejuvenated feeling like we've had a "little get away", even though it is close to home (for me). The rustic, log-cabin decor made with real log walls and beams throughout, made me feel like we were in the mountains out west. For events there are numerous high-ceiling, spacious halls of various sizes that are beautifully decorated. Wedding, receptions, family reunions, and business conventions would all benefit. There is plenty of free well-lit parking with easy access. It is located just a few minutes off of the 80-90 toll road. The person I worked with to organize a family reunion was accommodating in every way! I give her an A+!
I tried to make my reservation on-line and after entering all my information (including credit card) I received a message that "there was an error and please call the hotel directly". When I attempted to call the hotel directly, four (4) times I received an "all circuits busy" signal. I tried a final time and got someone's [what I assumed was a] cell phone. So, I tried to call reservations and the 800 number [listed on the website] was incorrect, another was listed as a 844 # and yes, I was curious (not stupid) and the first thing he wanted was my credit card information--at least I think that was what he wanted as I couldn't understand a thing he said. After all that, he was unable to make a reservation for me because I had a group (block). Ridiculous. Did I mention that this "group" fills the hotel year after year. The number he gave me to call the hotel was again a different number than what was listed on the website. I am not new to the business travel (logged 250, 000 airflight miles in less than a year and of course had to book the hotels to go with them). This hotel and all associated should be reported--who knows if it is identify theft! Beware. Worse case, if they can't get it together to make a simple reservation, seriously, what is the rest of it like? I think laundry is more complicated***shudder***
The bathroom floor was kind of gross with hair all over it. There was also possibly hair in the bed. There seems to have been some draining problems in the shower because it would slowly fill up and was very slow to empty. The only thing I really liked was the slightly plush carpet in the room.
I believe under new management, this place may have a whole new look sometime in the near future. Nice place for wedding receptions, parties, etc...having worked here as a young man of 15 back when they started letting 15 year olds work under parental consent, and again as a 21 year old. This place has an nostalgia of the old Chicago Mob days...or so stories were told me and forever impressed upon my young imagination.
The staff was nice, however the room was not what we expected or what we are used to. The King bed was hard and uncomfortable but worst of all there was an issue of a musty smell in the ac/heating unit. We had to leave one day early because we couldn't deal with it anymore. It affected my breathing and throat.
Very disappointed. Some of the staff were nice but several were rude or just didn't seem to care. Several times during my shower the water temperature changed drastically and without warning or reason. No spare outlet to plug in my phone, had to unplug a lamp to charge it. Breakfast (eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage) was cold. House keeping started knocking on doors before 9am on a Saturday morning, which is ridiculous.
Really frustrated. I expect better for $220 a night. Should have stayed at motel 6 down the road.
Sawmill Creek is an extremely nice resort. It is located just off Route 2. We have received wonderful service and good food while here this weekend.
Beautiful resort, lots of space to walk inside or outside for walkers like me.
Nice looking place. I ate there only .. it was pretty good but not worth the money in my opinion.
Can be expensive but a fun place to go for a fun time; the private beach was my personal favorite!
place is so great I could live there 5 stars. nice places to eat to
The room and general buildings were lovely. The grounds and surroundings were beautiful. I kept back one star for poor internet strength in the rooms.
The pool was great, and the ballroom was amazing for my dance competition!
Resort was nice great staff only complaint our room smelled a little like a basement
We were here for a pool tournament and the place is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are amazing and the staff is super friendly. Even the gift shop was awesome
