Subscriber for two years. In my short experience I've seen the usual staid crowd pleasers as well as pieces that stretch the orchestra. SD audiences seem to lack a bit of sophistication oftentimes applauding after each movement. I suppose there's worse things than showing appreciation. Ticket prices are very reasonable, but the intermission concessions are on the pricey side. All in all, still an enjoyable time.

I visited for a rock show and was very impressed with the beauty of the concert hall once we were inside. The ushers were incredibly friendly and fun to chat with prior to the show starting. They had beer, wine, and coctails avalible throughout the show but I am not sure if thatbis the case during symphonic performamces.

I loved hearing a music score performance during a silent film. I would recommend going to see Pandora's Box at the San Diego Symphony. The music performance was amazing and perfectly matched the story of the silent film.

A nice venue. I was last here to watch John Mulaney and had a great time.

Update: Came back to watch The Young Romantics and had a wonderful time. The symphony was superb and I was in awe of the incredible talent of the musicians.

Never been dissappointed! Many concerts. Pre-lecture helpful to understand musical pieces. Beautiful venue..lobby has new seating. Easy to find street parking if you come early enough otherwise 8th st and B is a good spot. Plan to come again.

Such a gorgeous theater. Be advised that the elevator does not go up to the upper level. So be sure to check with them about ADA accessable areas. Best bet is to call them before buying tickets online.

I continue to love San Diego's first class symphony. I'd recommend avoiding the front 10 rows, as you'll be overwhelmed by the strings. Other than that, pretty much all seats are good and the performances are excellent. Also you can get good prices if you look for tickets on groupon or fillaseat. (FREE tickets on fillaseat if you're a member, which pays for the membership in just one visit to the symphony!)

When an act/artist I wish to see are playing here, it's always a real treat to attend. Wonderful venue. Superbly civilized, fine acoustics, the chairs are fairly comfy (soft seat, but hard back), and the vibe is splendid.
Hats-off to the employees we get to meet. They are lovely people.
If the SDSO are performing, it's likely to be a memorable evening.

How do you rate a symphony? We've been watching movies with a live symphony playing the sound track which is a blast, and perfect to get people not "into" that type of music. Pay for the better seats.

Watched the Schumann, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky performance last night and it was a great experience. Parking was not a problem since there are many public parking nearby to choose from.
There was a lecture/talk before the concert and it helps to audience understand the story behind thw symphony they are going to experience. We brought our 7 yo daughter and she had a great experience too!

This was our second visit, and we drove almost 3 hours one way to get here - worth every minute. We loved the Beethoven Young People's concert! It was so well done and the presenter (I am sure he has a much better title than the one I am grasping at) was delightful, and quite adept at teaching in a way that kids were intrigued and excited to learn. Our six year old has been humming Beethoven orchestras in the car since we attended! Bathrooms are plentiful and very clean and private, and the volunteers do a great job getting school groups in and out efficiently. Parking was readily available with less than a block to walk to get to Copley Hall, and was about $15 for the time we parked. There is also parking in the building itself! Great place to experience and appreciate music and theatre!

Symphony Hall is wonderful for music. It's a lovely place. However, if you have difficulty with stairs pick your seats carefully. In addition, although there is an elevator, it was out of order at the end of the concert tonight. And there are some seats that are only accessible via stairs.

Came here for a showing of Harry Potter with accompaniment by the symphony. The staff were helpful and friendly, the performance was wonderful, and the acoustics of the space were great - even in the cheap seats.

The performance hall is simply magnificent and the San Diego Symphony was superb. We took a large group of second graders to experience the symphony first hand, and it did not disappoint!!! So grateful to have this experience, I went straight home to familiarize my self with Bach..enchanting to say the least...

Beautiful facility, comfortable seats, no-host bars on both floors (with sippy lids and straws for those who want to take drinks into the concert hall), remodeled bathrooms (always of interest to the ladies), and undeniably fabulous music! Always a wide variety of ticket packages offered for a well-developed array of music periods and styles, or one can purchase single tickets. I never miss a season!

Excellent music. I came here for Final Symphony and was wowed at the professionalism and unending orchestral arrangements that serenaded my ears. The concert hall is very much about the craft of music and their focus is very evident visually and audibly.

This is an amazing band to experience! My girlfriend and I and a few friends went to a comic con themed concert. They played movie themes from Jaws, Close Encounters of a Third Kind, Star Wars, and a variety of others. Fantastic experience! The conductor of the symphony was great! She would get so into the music that it was a sight to see.
