Nice hotel that s conveniently located near many restaurants, other hotels, the marina and the Gaslamp District. Nice rooms, friendly helpful staff, and a few restaurants on site to choose from. Nice concierge lounge with a variety of food options.

Typical restaurant for a high end hotel. It offers standard breakfast fare, including a buffet. I had the French toast, which was served with a container of Nutella in addition to Maple syrup. The serving size was generous. The service was great.

The grounds are wonderful and the meeting space was great. If you attending a large conference or happen to be staying during a large conference, be prepared to wait on the elevators. I waited for 8 elevators one night due to them being filled from the top floor first. At the end of the night, there was always a line to get on the elevator.

The room was good. Clean and comfortable. The staff was fantastic. This would have been a 5 star review if not for the elevator issue.

We had some Marriott points to use so we went to San Diego to just relax for a weekend. We had a great time at Sea World for a day and then just stayed at the hotel for a day. There is plenty to do at the hotel , but the Gas Lamp District is right across the street and Seaport Village is just down the street. We cruised around for an hour or so on the little electric scooters that are everywhere and that was a lot of fun too. One other thing worth noting, we ate at a few different places in the hotel and the food was excellent every time. We will certainly be going back, hopefully soon.

Beautiful place to stay over looking the bay as well as the city center from our room. Good rooms have comfortable bedding. Bathroom and accessories could have been better. Big pool, and large dinning area towards the marina. They have big ballrooms as well.
This place suitabily place and have acces to public transport like bus and metropolitan transport. Very close to gas lamp district as well. Courteous staff.

The room was clean and staff, although somewhat overwhelmed, was very friendly. However, I found it impossible to order a small pot of coffee in the morning. Instead, they sent me a Starbucks 10 cup box for $28. This Marriott does not have traditional room service but instead has a "marketplace." I don't travel often (maybe 3 or 4 times a year) but I really hate not being able to order a pot of coffee in the morning.

Nice hotel, but we could never get the humidity in our room regulated. Tried 2 different rooms but both were very humid. Air conditioning usually dries out a room - seemed to make it worse here.

The room was good, but dated and not really as nice as I'd expect for the high price. Parking is a pain in the ass and 35 dollars per night. The pool area is nice and there are fire pits near the lounge for socializing in the evenings. The Marriott isn't bad, but the Hilton bayfront is essentially next door and a much nicer hotel for the money.

Amazing Hotel Staff and location. The pool beautifully and walking distance to my favorite spots. The love the halibut fish tacos. When I had an issue it was addressed quickly, the staff well trained. Sarah at the front desk deserves recognition for her great customer service and recovery.

This is a very high end hotel. Service is outstanding, as with all Marriott locations. The decor in the rooms is trendy and modern. Views from higher rooms are fabulous.

They don't sell Coca-Cola products, which costs a star.

First impressions

First impressions
What a fantastic hotel! First impressions, you are instantly greeted by staff welcoming you to the hotel. After that, you are checked in, and they give you a great explanation of where everything is situated inclusive of food, drinks, and snacks.
Location
The location was marvelous, and it was not even 10 minutes away from the San Diego Airport. It was quite central to almost everything, including restaurants, beaches, and city transportation. It was only a 2-minute walk to the convention center, which was delightful! There are gorgeous amenities such as a pool, fitness center, spa and massage, and stunning avenues to walk along.
Staff
I thought the staff was accommodating and always greeted you no matter where you went. I saw the same theme of friendliness from the valet to the manager. It was very consistent throughout the hotel.
Room Appeal
I thought the room was of average size for a hotel. It was certainly well maintained and up to date. The bathrooms were large and very modern feel to it. What captivates you the most, though, are the views into the ocean or the city skyline. Depending on where you are situated or your preference, the views are stunning! Those views alone are enough to get you outside of your room to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Food
The food in the sit-down restaurant was great! The staff was friendly, and the chefs do a brilliant job making the selection quite appealing. They have a fantastic service to order from the bistro area, and they ll give you the option to either order ahead and pick up the food at the bistro (free), order room service ($8), or order at the bistro (free). Either option was very simple, and all food arrives within 20-25 minutes. The food isn t incredible, but it isn t terrible either. I rated them from worst to best, starting with Breakfast Pancakes (not good), Breakfast Burritos (okay), Chicken Mozzarella Sandwich (good), Parfaits (good), Gelato (good), Chicken Tenders (delicious), Exchange Burger (perfect). Some were far better than others.
Quality of food
All food is delivered in to-go boxes and isn t like your traditional room service dishes. Not terrible but caught me by surprise. I got used to it after a few days, and it makes sense for a hotel to do that! Other than the Breakfast Pancakes, I thought the rest of the quality was great!

I've only stayed 1 night so far, and staff seems very pleasant. Rooms are nice but not decadent. I'm in the South tower facing harbor St and the view is just OK. I wish they included a microwave in the room, but just ask for one and they'll bring one up. Grocery store is within walking distance.

Just stopped by to hang out at the pool for it a bit. They have a good selection of drinks(a tad expensive) and a nice a pool area for relaxing but didn't see any pool-side service. This a great spot so close to the gas lamp district.

To notch hotel with awesome environment for singles or family. There's kiddie pool and adult pool with heated water so you can enjoy it day or night. The bar is a plus for those that want to relax by the pool and fire place.

Lovely accommodations overlook a lush pool area and the San Diego bay, or the Gaslamp Quarter. Large ballrooms to accommodate a sizeable conference, with smaller breakout and meeting rooms scattered throughout the conference area. Large fitness center. Convenient access to the marina walk, ferries and train line. Walking distance to downtown attractions and the San Diego convention center.

Prices at onsite bars and restaurants are consistent with downtown/Marina area expectations, which is to say pricier than many properties, but not the most expensive. I would stay here again.

We stayed here in August for a work conference/family getaway. We stayed 4 nights. The stay was very nice, clean, comfy beds, nice outdoors/pool, rooms are standard (nothing special). The restaurant is a bit pricey but on par with the rest of San Diego. It would be nice to have a cheaper food option in hotel with healthy food. We visited the restaurant the Marina kitchen, food was good, service was good also. The exchange is a fast service alternative to a sit down restaurant but at restaurant prices. I made two requests on the food I ordered there and they did not do the requests, I didn t notice until I got to my room and did not go back to get it corrected. The first night at the hotel there was a wedding going on outside our window, loud booming music until 10pm, I was very disappointed as we have young children who could not fall asleep until the music stopped. It would be nice if starbucks in the hotel stayed open later (closes at 5pm). Parking is 35$ per night which I thought could be less considering the price per night for the stay.

Overall very nice hotel, nice staff and service, very clean and modern.

Very classy hotel. It's a nice break from the gas lamp district, which is right there. Marina side walks are pleasant. It's within easy striking distance (scooter) from Little Italy, Balboa Park, etc

The San Diego Marriott Marquis has been my number one pick for hotels in the San Diego area. The location is perfect for anyone that has business/pleasure near the Downtown area. Most places are easily walkable from the hotel; including the Gas lamp District, Convention Center, PETCO Park (the Padres Stadium), the marina, and the USS Midway museum. The hotel itself is very gorgeous and has a wonderful lobby/shops/dining area for lounging. But the most attractive feature to me was the pool area (just look at the pictures) it is stunning. There is plenty of seating outside, a nice bar, fire pits, palm trees galore and a Jacuzzi.

The rooms were quite nice, typical to most Marriott s and I personally had a nice view of the Marina. The fitness center is excellent and on par with some smaller gyms. There is a huge selection of treadmills, ellipticals, machines, free weights and even a separate dance/fitness room with a punching bag. I would definitely recommend the Marriot Marquis San Diego to anyone staying in the area.

The Marriott Marquis is BEAUTIFUL!! The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. Our room has a wonderful view of San Diego and the marina. The room itself was spotless and looks exactly as depicted in the pictures. Thanks Marriott for a great experience!

Loved our stay here! The room was clean, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The location was very close to shopping, restaurants, marina (where you can rent a boat), the USS Midway Museum, and also whale watching tours. The pool area was wonderful as well. We really liked sitting by the fire pits in the evening, relaxing with our drinks.

We attended the hotel for a short while to gather for a social gathering. We were located outside in the pool area and found everything to be fantastic. Service was fast and friendly and the facilities were outstanding. We left with great satisfaction.
