After a great day tanning on the beach, Salty's was a short stroll to a pirate paradise.
As we pulled up to the "docks" we were greeted by the friendly wait staff in a very crisp new ground floor entrance with a covered patio. The ground floor had been redone 6 months ago and from what we saw it looked to keep with the sea faring theme.
We, however were granted access to the top floor patio overlooking the beach. The decor upstairs was a much darker theme and really played with the pirate concept. A pirate statue stands guard at the top of the stairs leading into the bar with a multitude of unique pirate paintings. A display of a skeleton crew mans the helm above the bar.
The service was quick, friendly, and attentive while answering our questions about the food and establishment.
We had the calamari and honey siracha chicken as we were not too hungry. The server adviced us that the main dishes may be large, and the appies were more then enough to fill our needs.
The calamari was great for my tastes, not too chewy with a good helping of (whatever that is) sauce. The chicken was a great combination of tangy, sweet, and spicy. Although I'm not one for very spicy food and mild for me may be barely a blip on your radar.
The drink menu was nice and diverse. Wednesdays were wine days although I just had a couple of domestic beers (along with provided chilled glass) while my significant other tried the "boat drink" which had white rum, malibu rum, pineapple and orange juice garnished with a pineapple. Thick and delish was the report I recieved on that particular drink.
All in all I highly recommend it. The prices for the main courses were a tad high, but comparable to many higher quality establishments. The service, food, and atmosphere more then made up for my concerns regarding the price.
