Spent the day after Independence Day in Boston and ended our trip at Boston Sail Loft. Inside is long and narrow with a bar running halfway up on the side and high-top tables opposite. These are first come first serve. It was a 30 minute wait to be seated in a section of tables up front or in the back. My wife and I stood at the bar and managed to find a high-top table before we finished our first local beer.

The food and service may be the best we ve had on this trip. The bartenders are attentive and the waitress was described as sweet from my wife. We had another Jack s Abbey each and ordered a cup of clam chowder, the fried clam appetizer, and the lobster roll (which we didn t see on the menu but asked about after seeing another customer enjoying). The fresh fried clams melt in your mouth. There was so much lobster on the roll it needed to be finished with a fork. The accompanying fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The thick and creamy chowder was the best I ve ever had.

My friends and I ventured into Boston for the first time and came across Boston Sail Loft. It was a hidden gem to say the least! The service was great, with a friendly waitress. A family owned business, Boston Sail Loft definitely had a welcoming feel that is lost with other big chains. The food was excellent, specifically the butternut squash bisque. This seasonal soup was to die for. I dare say I will travel back to Boston next fall just to enjoy this amazing dish! Definitely try it!

Food was great and at affordable price however I was served a glass of water with a peice of gum and hair on it and at the end of our meal the waitress threw a napkin on our plate of fries while we were still eating them. Id probably go back but I'd watch out for hair and be more aggressive with guarding my food.

One of my absolute favorite places in the North End area to have a drink and a bite to eat. Staff is always incredibly friendly, and the food is delicious and reasonably priced, especially for the area. I love sitting at the bar overlooking the water with a cup of their clam chowder- heaven.

Simply, the food and service is outstanding. Our server's name was Alex and he was really amiable and courteous! He constantly made sure that we had everything we needed, and he was very sweet. But honestly, the entire staff was quite friendly!

We had been visiting the area from out of state, and had visited several abysmal restaurants before this one. This was our first good food experience during the entire trip, and made the whole thing finally worth it.

Although we normally don't, we even ordered dessert because we enjoyed our lunch. Highly recommend the Bread Pudding! The clam chowder was also great~! (^^ )

The food was really good. Going to the ladies room can be a bit of a challenge due to the narrowness of the restaurant and the kitchen door perpendicular to the ladies room door! Watch out as exciting the ladies room so you don't take out a server and their tray!

I thought I had eaten the best clam Chowder untill, I came across the Clam Chowder at Boston Sail Loft. The abundance of clams over flowed as you can see in the photo and let's face it the Dill Weed added a whole new dimension, and I can see why they were the Best in 2018 as far as I am concerned they or the Best in 2019. Lobster Macaroni & Cheese it has got to be a crime, I had to go take a nap honestly it was the absolute best!

Their clam chowder alone is worth the drive into the city. This is a gem hiding in plain sight and within walking distance of Quincy Market and Faniuel Hall. Great views and a pub like atmosphere.

The place is nice and nice. The waitresses are friendly. The kitchen is not good, nor professional. Food is not treated well. The squid battered without flavor, bland and fried with an oil of strange taste. The mussels boiled without any touch or special feature. Some breaded shrimp, with an inadequate tomato sauce. In the children's menu, some macaroni and cheese, which were not macaroni, were coditos. The dish presented inappropriately for a child. The earthenware at a dangerous temperature. It is not a recommended place to eat. Maybe yes, to drink a wine or a beer.

Came here because I heard they have the best clam chowder in Boston. I was not disappointed. I've never had chowder with dill in it so I was a little concerned. Turns out it was just the right amount of dill and it is a great addition to chowder.

Best New England Clam Chowder I've ever had in my life. The Fish and Chips and Lobster Roll were excellent as well. My wife and I were visiting Boston from the Jersey Shore where Sea Food is held to a very high standard and we were so happy we stumbled across Boston Sail Loft after visiting the New England Aquarium. We could not have been happier with our choice. This is definitely the spot all the locals in town go to for their sea food fix!

Very nice staff and the owners daughter was super helpful with giving us other cool and fun ideas for our trip in Boston. Next time we go back to Boston we will be back!

Nice little place. Its a locals bar with great views. Also prices are more resonable than some of the bars and grills around it. Also has a small deck with no seating out back looking over the water.

This is one of the places where seeing the bathroom makes you really uncomfortable to think of your wait staff and cooks using it. I know it's an old building, but a little investment could go a long way.

Great spot to grab a drink after work or to grab dinner! The food is plentiful and and very "New England"! The chowder is must as well as any fried seafood you enjoy. Whether you live in the area or from out of town, make sure you stop in at the Sail Loft!

Went with my girlfriend during my first visit to Boston. The clam chowder is amazing, the fish and chips not so much. The chips/fries are really good and my girlfriend really liked her burger. Atmosphere is great, good service, and a great selection of beer.

One of the best seafood places I ever been to. I got the lobster roll with fries which was amazing. The lobster roll is filled and overfilled. As well the fries where nice and crispy. Also got the clam chowder it was in the top 3 best clam chowder I ever ate. My wife got fish and chips again fries amazing and the fish was cooked amazing nice and crispy outside and flaky inside. The service was ok but only cause the place was so full all the time. It wasent to expensive for being on that location but the portion size where big and amazing would definitely go back there.

Overall good place with good food and good prices. Staff were very responsive and friendly as well. Prices are very reasonable. Nice little bonus are the seats near the window looking out onto the ocean water. The location is near the aquarium, cruises and many other tourist attractions including public parking nearby. Worth the visit.

Let me start by saying they have the best clam chowda I've ever tasted in my life. I ordered the salad lobster roll which I couldn't even finish (great portion) and my husband was madly in love with the lobster mac and cheese! Although I'm not sure if our waitress was new, she kept coming over to ask if we were done with our dish. It made things a little awkward but we still tried to enjoy our food.

It was good to be able to taste Boston specialty clam chowder overlooking the river. Lavender rolls and lobster soup are also recommended. Asian women have a lot of sheep, so you'd better order them with moderate amounts. The parking fee is expensive because it is a suburban neighborhood so you should keep that in mind. I paid $ 18 for an hour and a half parking.

Sort of a hidden place but fun bar to grab a drink or a bit to eat. Staff is very friendly and I always get great service. There is a deck if you want to grab a drink in the summer outside on the ocean.

After reading the rave reviews, we decided to make this one of our stops during our visit to Boston. We ended up here late on Sunday night, about 830pm. Luckily, despite all the warnings to the contrary, we were seated immediately. The interior is small, quaint, and casual, with a nice view of the wharf outside. My husband and I weren't starving but decided to order a cup of the clam chowder since people seemed to love it. We found it to be... okay. To be fair, neither of us are clam chowder connoisseurs, and this was my first. It tastes like creamy potato soup, but add clams and dill. My husband ordered a whole lobster and side salad. He said it was tasty and we'll prepared. He enjoyed his dish. I ordered the seafood portofino, a linguini dish with lobster, scallops, and shrimp. I found the the seafood tough, overcooked. The wine garlic sauce was very tangy. I didn't quite finish it. The portions were very large l, thought, which is tough to find. The service was ok. The waiter didn't bring utensils so we had to go find some. He also forgot our waters, so we had to wait for him to return to get those. Not horrible offenses. Overall, it was an okay experience. With our meals and two alcohol beverages each, our bill was $116. Not terrible, but if I return, it would probably be to try the lobster Mac n cheese or fish and chips as a lunch option.

Lots of clam chowder served here at least based on the amount we saw coming out of the kitchen. Neither of us like clam chowder so I can't comment on how good it was or wasn't. My hamburger was very tasty although lacking a bit in seasoning. Luckily I could add some myself. My friend's Cajun chicken was tasty. Service was excellent due in no small part to our server, Kenzie. We saw her in action with a few other tables as well and she's a natural with customer service. Well done. The restaurant has nice views over the harbour.

Great spot for casual dining in a nice dockside setting. The Lobster Rolls are nicely stuffed with meat and they go easy on the mayo which I like. I'll definitely will visit this place again.

This local place is sure to please any laid-back tourist or local looking or a reasonably priced meal right on the water. With simple dishes like fish sandwiches and a great beer selection, its a great place to kick back for lunch or dinner after a day of sight seeing in the city. If it is in season be sure to ask for the butternut squash bisque, you will not be disappointed. The soup is a hearty, perfect balance of sweet and savory that will warm the body and satisfy the stomach. Don't be distracted by Joe's head to Boston Sail Loft for sure.
