Saguaro National Park is a beautiful natural setting in th beautiful State of Arizona. Lots and lots of beautiful cactus. We spent several hours exploring this beautiful desert and also visited the Park Rangers Store. The Park Rangers were so friendly and extremely informative. There were restrooms available for all. The signage was clear the entire drive there.
I would highly recommend a trip to The Saguaro National Park. While at the National Park we purchased a decal and a pin. The prices were comparable to other parks.

Another spectacular National Park! The park is divided into 2 sections, the west side and the east side. The east side has an 8 mile paved loop which takes about an hour to drive through. The 2 parks are different and we definitely enjoyed them both. We hiked on the west side. The Dog Trail, and the Valley View Trails. Both were easy
The roads on the West side are dirt and "rough". We are from the east coast, so the terrain is so very different. A word of caution, if you loose your footing NEVER grab onto any plants or other vegetation. Almost EVERYTHING has needles or thorns. Bring your walking sticks for any hiking in this region. You cannot appreciate the Saguaro cactus until you see them up close in this region (Tucson).

Rincon mountains are just as beautiful as the Catalinas, only different... not as rugged and tall...less of a riparian environment... but that difference emphasizes its beautiful uniqueness. Highly recommend.

Despite what their web sites says the East Park is closed to traffic. The sign at the entrance says the driving circle is closed through May 7. And although the gate is open there is an employee there to turn traffic around. The Cacti are just starting to blossom. What a pity. With the early heat arrival most of the glory won t be seem. And I don t get how I could contact Covid 19 riding in a closed car.

There's a lot of trails to choose from! Most people can find a trail for them. Watch out for little cactuses! They can get stuck to your shoes! Otherwise, there's some really breathtaking views of the city and the sky from the mountain. Sunset and sunrise are great!

Although they all appreciate the desert scenery, Saguaro National Park is different from other deserts. There are no sand dunes and sand dunes, but it is more like a deserted cactus and wild grass kingdom. In the evening, the sunset, the bloody red sunset shines on the huge cactus, as if telling the legend of the desert that they stood for thousands of years. It's amazing!!

We did a nice hike through here while staying at Tanque Verde Ranch. We had a guide and were fortunate to see road runners, a rattle snake, bull snake, humming birds and a Gila Monster. Trail wasn't too challenging and truly beautiful park.

Amazing place with something for everyone. The drive is beautiful and there are plenty of places to pull aside and take photos. There are several trails that are of varying lengths and skills and you can even link them together for a longer hike. Plenty of room to bike and ride horses as well.

Saguaro National Park sits in the middle of the Sonoran Desert. The park is divided into two distinct districts. East of Tucson is the Rincon Mountain District (RMD), also referred to as Saguaro East. To the west of Tucson is the Tucson Mountain District (TMD), also refered to as Saguaro West. The city of Tucson snugly fits between these two districts.

Saguaro West is probably the most visited district. It is known for its namesake, the giant saguaro cactus. There are so many here it is considered a be a Saguaro Forest. The Red Hills visitor center should be able to answer all questions concerning the area, including ancient petroglyphs, hiking trails and 4 wheel drive roads. February through April are considered the best months for visitation due to the gorgeous cactus blooms. Saguaro cacti typically bloom in April.

Saguaro East is different. It is called a "Sky Island," an area that protects such animals as the bear, cougar and the coati. It contains the Cactus Forest Loop Drive, as well as hiking trails to a historic homestead and cabin. There is a great visitor center located at the start of the loop drive.

There are six small walk-in campgrounds within Saguaro NP, but only the largest (Manning Camp with 6 sites) has water year-round. It is located 7.5 miles from its trailhead. All others (3 spots each) are dry camps, the closest being a 4.1 mile hike.

Be aware that the "monsoon season" happens at Saguaro from about June 15th through September. Thunderstorms occur most afternoons and dangerous flash flooding can occur. Also, Saguaro NP closes one day a year, on Christmas Day.

If you haven't seen the Seguaro cacti, you're in for a treat. They are out of this world, and this park puts them on display. Seguaro west is the more popular side with more hikes and nearby camping by the park. There is no camping in the park itself. I went in October and it was still pretty toasty in the afternoon, so make sure to bring at least a gallon per person per day.

Seguaro east is more mellow and secluded. It's got a cool ring road where I saw a lot of bikes - perfect for some road biking.

Awesome place for seeing seguaro cacti. There are many cacti of many varieties that are easily accessible with short walks from the parking spaces. The loop road is about 8 miles and popular with bicycle riders. There are many great views along the road. The park is conveniently close to Tucson.

There's been lots of water this spring. The flowers are blooming like crazy. It's a beautiful time to be here and it's not going to last long. We are so thankful that we got here in time to see it. The park is practically empty on the weekdays. And the people attending the park as well as a people inside the park are very nice.

Saguaros every 10 feet! So many tall cacti that you can't process them all when looking out. Lots of pull offs and signs. No signal in parts of the part. So download maps ahead of time!

BEAUTIFUL! Totally worth visiting, especially if you have never been to Tucson. However, do NOT underestimate AZ heat, especially in the summer. In the summer months, wear sunscreen, bring lots of water and maybe a sports drink too or something to replenish electrolytes. I wouldn't go in the heat of the day, maybe early morning or evening. Sunset and sunrise are the prettiest times for the park anyway.

Sun exposure is NOT a joke in Tucson. And the National park does not have a lot of shade options or ways to beat the heat. Be careful :)

Always a beautiful drive. They have slide shows and info. movies about Saguaro National Park. They play games such as animal bingo and you can win a prize. They show small creatures at times. They have a unique store for novelty items. It's a really nice place to visit again and again.

A great park, you can drive enough of it (no need for 4WD, but you do need good ground clearance) that there is no need for much hiking/walking if mobillity is an issue, although the petroglyphs do require about 200 yards of walking. Definitely dont go in mid summer at mid day! But a real city gem for Tucson area.
