Saguaro Cactus everywhere. In this Park you will find Everything. Beautiful. Camping. 2018.
Smaller but beautiful NP split into two parts, East and West, many trails suitable for easy short hikes. A great day trip if you are in the area. Nice Visitor Center, friendly rangers, very informative nature trails.
Great hikes offering a wonderful opportunity to learn more about many types of cactus before climate change makes them disappear.
I love our National Parks...even in the rain. My short visit didn't do it justice...I'll be back!
Saguaro cactus, more saguaro cactus, sunrise, setsets and more saguaro cactus.
Beautiful park. Not crowded at all and many scenic hiking trails of varying degrees of difficulty. Something for everyone.
Fantastic it is so great that we have these places protected
Great views but horrible road that leads through the middle of the park
Exceptional place for hiking and seeing Cactii. Superb!
One of the best places in the country! Excellent trails let you get up and close with the majestic saguaro. So many saguaro to see, so little time to see them all. Make sure to bring your water and your sunscreen. Watch out for prickles!
You ride through the area looking at large cactus that's the extent of it, okay but once is enough
It was so beautiful there. We visited in March. There were flowers blooming. The cactuses were a sight to see.
This is a desert, deserts are known to be hot. Try not coming here when it's hot because there is absolutely no shade at all. When you come here, make sure to stop by the visitor's center. We went to many national parks and paid close to $100 and Derek was nice enough to tell us if they are still active and not expired, we can use that to get a annual card! This was awesome since we always go to parks and we end up paying 20 or 30 bucks a time!
When you begin, know there is only a loop for non 4X4. The rest of the roads are 4x4 only. This is all dirt road but it's maintained dirt road and a 8 mile loop! Now you have to know that there isn't really many designated parking spots so if you do pull over, make sure pull over all the way to the side. While there is many, many cactus, that's all the park is. Well that's for the west side of the park. East side of the park is more of a mountain type setting instead of a desert. You probably won't be able to both regions unless you start early in the morning.
It was great seeing it and probably would have been better if it was cooler than the 100 degree scorching weather
Very interesting! I learned a lot about the saguaro. Make sure you see the movie that plays every half an hour. Also the cactus on the inside of the guest center has doors with information and small animals that can live in it.
It was great!! Everywhere we went people were so very friendly and helpful would definitely return
An interesting place full of cacti, it's worth taking the time to get around, either by car or by foot.
Worth a visit. Kind of different having a through road with voluntary visitor payment
Great place to hike. The folks at the visitor's center were fantastic. Coming from the east coast we were surprised at the size of the Saguaro Cacti, also, the variety of cacti and wildlife. The last week of October was a good time to hike.
Stunning views. The speedway location is so much more interesting than the Broadway location.
This is an amazing park with an astonishing variety of cacti. Saguaro are the stars but there's also cholla, prickly pear, palo verde trees and even flowers like poppies and datura. A horseback ride is a great way to see this park. Always, always bring water!
One of the most beautiful places to visit on the planet. Then there is great food in Tucson, just go.
The Sonoran Desert has a certain stark beauty and Saguaro National Park is a great place to experience this.
Very diverse environments you can see in a day hike
Saguaro National Park West has a very nice visitor center with an NPS store that carries native art, a theatre and great views. There are several trails near the center with typical Sonoran desert cactus and foliage, a nearby nature trail and several hiking trails and picnic areas. It's very serene and easy to spend a whole day there.
It's interesting to see the cacti, but once you see one you've kind of seen them all. It's not necessary to go to both sections. Just pick one and call it good.
This is a great national park, the saguaro cactus are so plentiful. The drive through this park feels like you left civilization and entered a zone of zombies looking down on you. The visitor center is informative and educational. The center has friendly and helpful staff, just need to sell some bottled water. The drive around the park has so many turnoffs it makes it easy to snap a photo.
Beautiful national park just outside Tucson. Great place to take a morning walk through the desert. Can get extremely hot here so come prepared.
Cacti must be seen especially as there are less and less of them every year.
Amazing scenery. A great 8 mile driving loop. A couple of easy hikes up close and personal with the saguaros. What could be better!
Saguaro National Park is within the city of Tucson. Saguaro cactus grow no where else in the world. This is a very awesome+ inspiring park, completely accessible by road and walking paths. The variety of desert plants is amazing in any season. And that's just the first sight you'll enjoy. The mountains! Up close and personal!
An ideal place for visitor & resident alike to connect with the majestic Sonoran desert. As the name suggests, the iconic saguaro cactus is a prominent feature at almost every turn, but one is equally likely to encounter other flora & fauna such as palo verde & mesquite trees, javelina, rattlesnakes, & the many varieties of birds that have made this region world-famous. The visitor center off of Old Spanish Trail is a great starting point for information & orientation, & a vast network of trails offer a unique desert experience for all interest & skill levels, from short jaunts at the Broadway trailhead to the rugged Tanque Verde Ridge Trail which climbs into the remote & breathtaking oak-pine heights of the Rincon Mountains (preferable in my opinion to the crowded & commercialized Santa Catalinas). All in all, one of Tucson's greatest gifts to itself & the world!
This is a very good lesser known National Park with scenic views and plenty of thicc cactus keep in mind though, with the government shutdown the bathrooms and gift shop aren t open so plan ahead.
There are a large number of trails in the park and something for everyone. There are really beautiful waterfalls that run during the cooler month and when it rains a lot in the mountains. Be sure to take note of the trails you take so you dont get lost. There are so many trail intersections, and washes that dont have trail markers, that its easy to get turned around. Also, theres lots of horse traffic in the area so watch the horse poops on the trail.
The 8-mile Cactus Forest Loop Drive is a part of every visit my girlfriend and I make to Tucson. The scenery is best early or late in the day when the shadows of the Saguaro Cacti are longest.
We did both the East and West parks. One didn't seem better than the other, but the east one did seem a little less busy. These cacti crack me up. Some of them are so goofy looking and look a lot like really tall people in funny positions. Anyway, it's possible to see Saguaro cactus all over the Sonoran desert, but they seem especially concentrated here. For someone who's not from a desert, for me, this park is a great way to learn and see the variety of plants and animals. Deserts are not the desolate wastelands one might imagine but filled with life. We had a memorable time at this park and would recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about the biology of the area.
Love the riding and the views could have asked for a better place to ride horses
Great place for a hike. Trailhead at Manville and Sandario is the best for access to the petroglyphs on Signal Hill. There are picnicking facilities at the base parking area.
Wonderful national park with many different features. Lots of cactus and desert plants obviously. There is an east segment and a west segment and they are very different. My favorite part of the West segment is the petroglyphs. Those are wonderful. On the eastern side, there is paved roadway to drive on which is always nice and the cactus in front of the mountains are very dramatic. I highly recommend going in the spring when the flowers are in bloom.
really neat to see, take the time to stop and read all the information at the pull offs. it's worth it.
Dusty and hot but it's the real thing. Our guide was A1.
Great treasure. Beautiful park with freindly, knowledgeable staff. The park has many nice hiking trails through the desert and beautiful views of the mountains. I therouly enjoyed my visit.
Loved it! East and West parks are fabulous - rangers and volunteers are so friendly, the park is beautiful, great hiking!
My daughter earned this badge a a three day wilderness day camp! Awesome experience for her. Beautiful place!
This is a great place to learn about the flora and fauna of the Sonoran Desert and the Saguaro cactus. Many trails and a lovely visitor center.
Small but worth a visit. The highlight would be the 9 mile drive through the park. Speed limit is low the road narrow and thankfully mostly one way. Watch for bicycles as they are often faster than cars on the road. The Cactus Forrest hike is short approximately 2 miles.
Loved it. Very interesting since we are used to the NE.
We spent Martin Luther King weekend hiking this beautiful national park. About 45-minute drive from Phoenix. My daughter loved it! We will defiantly go back again. Fyi! All the state parks are free on national holidays. Never knew that
Be careful not to walk into the cacti! Beautiful scenery.
Beautiful to see the Saguaro in its natural habitat. Love seeing the desert creatures while in the park. Prices are reasonable and yearly passes are available. Hiking trails easily accessible, easy to hard trails, map is given upon entrance into the park.
We had time for the Saguaro National Park West. We visited Red Hill Visitor Center, Bajada Loop on Hohokan road, and Gate Pass Road. Bajada loop is an unpaved road. The staff said we could drive a car on the Bajada loop. The views at the Park were beautiful. The Saguaro are tall and unique. The mountains are full of the Saguaro.
My Aunt flew in just to see the cacti blooming and was not disappointed! Hiking the trails were not fun because of so many gnats and bees and then of course it got hotter. But the gnats were flying in our ears, up your nose and if you stopped you'll have 50 gnats that land on you but that's the desert for you folks! ;) But it was still beautiful out there!
The 8 mile loop gives visitors a close-up look of our beautiful desert habitat and wildlife. Driving, hiking, biking, picnic area, visitors center, Tucson's best.
Cactus are awesome and numerous and nice visitors center
It's another world! So majestic and breathtaking beautiful. Plenty of viewing pull offs, picnic areas and clean bathrooms.
I didn't have the time I needed to explore but this was one of my most unique National Parks experiences. Flora unique to the landscape can't be found anywhere else. Visitor center staff were kind and smiles all around.
Took family and saw petroglyphs. Nice short hike. Very informative and friendly staff at visitor center.
