I grew up around Saguarro National West and have spent many years romping through it's trails, visiting the Desert Museum and enjoying it's beauty.
Wildflower season is wonderful through the monument, I also enjoy fall when the wildlife is more active. I've had some wonderful encounters with little critters and birds. Saguarro bloom season is also pretty great!
The visitor center is pretty amazing, facilities are well maintained and staff is knowledgeable and personable.

Absolutely loved the Eight Mile Loop. We were able to see a large amount of this park from the comfort of our vehicle. We also appreciated the many pullover areas to stop and get out of the car. We did there 7 tenths of a mile hike and it was absolutely perfect. You really got a sense of the natural plans unique to this Sonoran Desert. The signs were easy to read and it was very easy to navigate inside the park.

This park did not disappoint. As an East Coast dweller, I could not fathom how amazing this area is. If you have the time to do a hike (they range from short paved trails to longer desert trails) of either the East or West side of the park it will definitely add to your experience - just be sure to have plenty of water. Both sides of the park also have a loop scenic drive. These drives are a must see for anyone who wants to see the saguaro and other native fauna. The pictures posted can not and does not truly express how beautiful this park is!

I went to Saguaro National Park East on May 23rd 2019 could we have had an unusually Cool Spring. So it was about 73 degrees when I was there in the afternoon and sunny which is almost unheard of and it was awesome. As far as national parks go it was very minimal but I give it five stars cuz I had a lot of fun and it was close to home

The cacti were just starting to come into bloom. I was informed that Saguaro Bloom at night and as the day goes on the bloom decreases. I got there at around 1:30 in the afternoon. The blooms we're running late because of the cold weather. However I did get quite a few nice pictures of some fully In Bloom Saguaro. The Saguaro Forest is not that thick I was told it was much thicker in Saguaro National Park West. However it was pleasant and uncrowded and there were quite a few Saguaro blooms. And I just had a really nice time it was quiet peaceful and close to home. Not the most spectacular place but still a really great time anyway and I brought a lunch and spent about 4 hours there and drove the 8 Mile Loop and took a few mini hikes. I took about a hundred and forty pictures and after I edited through them I did keep about 50 really good ones so I would recommend it if you are local or live on the east side of town or in Cochise or Graham counties it is closed and easy to get home and you avoid the city traffic. But if you are from out of town

But if you are from out of town and really want to see Saguaro National Park I would highly recommend going to the West District. And Bloom should starting around mid-may and they last about 2 weeks. They bloom a little later at Saguaro East because the altitude is higher and it is a little cooler

Just got back from visiting both saguaro parks. The west park was much better. Way more beautiful. The red hills visitor center was much nicer. There were more cactus. So if you only have time to visit one side. Go to the west side. You will not be disappointed. Very nice.

You could almost picture the old west with cowboys and indians. Smoke signals on the mountain tops. Big puffy clouds signaling a code of the old west by the native indians. The wagon train and chuck wagon setting for a indian attack or just circling for the evening. Around the corner from here or over the horizon is old Tucson. A little John Wayne or even maybe Marshall Dillon and Kitty. Let's not forget Geegory Peck and James Stewart. They were the stars but many supporting actors made the difference. Reminded me of the old westerns on TCM. Being a 68 year old I reminisce of the old days. They sure were great when men were men and movies were movies.

Beautiful 8 mile one way drive thru park. Many pull off stops to enjoy view, take pictures. Variety of trails for"short trail hikers" - one only .3 miles. 2 picnic areas. Be sure to stop at riparian overlook. I could actually hear the water evem though a long way from overlook.

We really loved saguaro national Park there was a 8 mile drive through all the different cacti areas. We stopped and did a little hike at the end as well this was in March so the weather was really nice we even got hit with a little bit of rain storm I could see it being very hot in the summer so you might want to time it with the spring or winter season. It was also a little bit chilly in the morning so you got to consider that as well

Get up and close with an intact and healthy Sonoran desert environment. We arrived near dusk and were not disappointed by the colors of the landscape. I highly recommend the overlook trail which is very accessible by car. The trail is very informative with numbered placards describing the plants that surround you.

This park has since nice hiking trails, lots of cacti. It is supposed to be a fee park and even though i have a national park pass you can tell that the fee is difficult to enforce. They have a small shop and a good lookout away the visitor center. We walked on the overlook trail. Took a small Mitsubishi car and survived the dirt road. It was well maintained.

We took the Morris Trail up. We were surprised that it was set up as a stairway all the way to the summit. The views were stunningly and the saguaros are so impressive so close. From many areas we had impressive views of the area. There was no mention on the may at the base of the hill that it was essentially an uphill stair climb to the top, different from a trail as it is an hour's worth of climbing for the first loop. We were nonetheless very pleased with this trail and would recommend it. There were also a whole range of other trails available along Gates Pass Road so we could have tried something easier or harder. Love this area.

Saguaro National Park East is beautiful. I have been coming here since the 1970's. There are many wonderful, well-marked trails. The visitor's center has been remodeled and there are many things to see. They sell some excellent books about the area as well. There are plenty of picnic area, that are well maintained. The 8 mile loop through the park is exceptional.

The national park is amazing! Well staffed with friendly and informative agents. Clean well stocked welcome centers and stores. Well diagramed route through the park to view rocks, painted desert, petroglyphs. Best stop of my vacation!

We only did the Squeeze Pen, Carrillo trails to Garwood dam from Loma Verde trailhead. The trail itself was good mostly flat some elevation gain towards the end. Mildly disappointed that we didn't see any information at the dam area actually about the dam. We plan on coming back to this park again soon to hit more trails. It also has a pretty good visitor center.
