This NP is so peacefully beautiful. The cactus are silent monuments to the desert beauty. We had a summer monsoon storm roll through as we drove through. That brought a ton of wildlife out. It was hot and humid but worth it. I want to explore more of the Tucson area soon and plan on coming back to this NP.

We joined a group of hikers and our leader/guide, Freddy, for the hike to the peak of Mount Wasson. We headed up at 2:00 pm and reached the top just before sunset! Amazing! We hiked back down in moonlight. No flashlight necessary! Highly recommended!

We only visited the Western section of the National Park. The visitor center was very nice and the views of the Saguaros was outstanding. We were there in January and the weather was wonderful. The drive on Hohokam Road was spectacular. It is a well travelled dirt road so be prepared for some dust! We visited the park for a couple of hours and enjoyed ourselves.

The visitor center was closed when we arrived and there were only a few people. Since it was getting darker and the sign showed there were coyote and rattlesnake around, we decided not to hike and just took sightseeing instead. The view was great, the park is huge, filled with numerous saguaros. This park is well maintained. Really like this place. Will definitely come again in the future.

We made the trek to Saguaro National Park on our way from Phoenix to Tucson. It was an easy drive and an excellent way to see the state along our commute. If you re just passing through and don t have time to explore the entire park, swing by the visitor center and some of the many pullout stations for beautiful views.

Sooooo beautiful and cheap to drive through it. Wish I had a whole day to hike around here. Be careful going off the path, lol, the cactuses spikes have fish hooks at the end of them and are really hard to get out.

Beautiful, well organized national park. I visited the east portion of the park for an afternoon and had an incredible time. The park staff was friendly and helpful, they pointed out hiking options everywhere from half a mile to 15+ and gave great suggestions on what to look for. The park has an 8-mile one way road with multiple turn-offs for picnic areas, hiking trails, and overlooks. The scenery seems plain at first but when you look closer it really is something special. I was lucky enough to see a Gila monster, a hawk, a snake, and tons of small lizards and birds in the course of just a few hours.

Great

Saguaro National Park was not busy at all in the beginning of April. It was partly cloudy so it wasn't very hot. We did easy walking trails & saw amazing views, an amazing number of cacti & some humongous specimens. We saw a number of birds & lizards and probably could have seen more on the longer hikes.

A beautiful place to visit. I highly recommend anyone with an interest in desert landscapes, and wildlife to visit the park. I decided to visit the Sonoran desert during a cross country trip because of its incredible biodiversity. Tuscon wasn't the most interesting place in the world, but it was still an incredible experience. Birding by day, and herping at night. After only visiting the park twice in a two day period I found Desert tarantulas, Kangaroo rats, tons of scorpions, Coyotes, Verdin, Gila woodpeckers, Zebra tailed lizards, Desert cottontails, Antelope squirrels, Javelina, and even a Western diamondback!

Worth the trip out of Tucson. Add the Old Tucson movie set and the Sonora Desert Museum and make a day of it. The Saguaro forest is amazing. The visitor center is a great place for pictures and cool desert merch.

Wanted to see the various cacti and there were plenty. Both the walks and the drive was very nice. Saw cute lizards. Saw several types of birds. Bought some prickly pear candy and salsa. My kid loved the giant saguaro and lizards.

Saguaro exceeded my expectations by a lot! Was able to stop at both Saguaro West and Saguaro East and they are two entirely different experiences. Can't really go wrong as both are picturesque. West is better if you prefer more large cacti up close to the trail and East is better if you prefer mountain views in the background.

Visited here on February 17,2017 and was disappointed, we paid $15 a car, drove a 9 mile paved trail and saw just as much as we did when we drove thru the desert. We enjoyed the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument alot better.

A separate National Park that may be underestimated. Everyone knows the cacti from the wild west of the cowboys, but perhaps no one realizes that the cacti do not thrive everywhere. A large amount of these Saguaro cacti is present in Saguaro National Park and many other distinct cactus species also grow. It is amazing to walk on beautiful paths between cacti of more than 5 meters high and to be able to look out over the valley at surprising points. A beautiful and surprising park, definitely worth a visit.
