Unique experience to discover beauty of old massive cacti; park well maintained by US Forest Service. Plan an overnight stay to view park at sunrise and sunset. Free entry to seniors with US National Park pass.

A great place for a good basic overview of the Sonoran Desert. An added bonus of the Tucson Mountain Unit is sometimes seeing raptors from the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum flying overhead. (Free-flight raptors can also be seen in this area.) Besides raptors, there are other reasons for birders to love this place phainopepla, flickers, Gila woodpeckers and other birds are all to be found here.

Stunning scenery, trails are maintained well and range from easy paved strolls to backpacking (East district only). The visitor center has a lot of really cool information about the history of Tucson, the Sonoran desert, plants and wildlife. The park has also really embedded itself in the Tucson community, providing several educational services outside of the park.

The West side of Saguaro is a little different and much more populated by cactus compared to the east side. I have to say that I personally enjoyed hiking here a little more. But both are amazing. Definitely a learning experience!

We visited the Eastern Saguaro National Park and it was fantastic from the very nice and informative Park Ranger at the entry gate who got us set up with an annual pass and gave a lot of other information in regards to the different aspects of the park and the other things you can do with the annual pass. We than drove the Cactus Road Loop which I believe is 9 miles of some of the best views in the park. All in all it was a great afternoon and now we are all set for the other National Parks we are going to this year. If you are in Tucson you should check it out.

Personally, this is my favorite place to hike. There are trails for all fitness levels and abilities. There's a lovely, short, paved trail for those in wheelchairs, scooters, on crutches or parents with strollers.

Huge place, and tons of giant cacti. It's a nice, calm desert location, and good for families or groups to spend time in nature. It does get a bit boring, because all there is here is..well, giant cacti and desert.

I have been to over 20 national parks and this one is truly unique. You won't find snow capped mountains, waterfalls, jagged cliffs or demanding hikes with altitude. But you will find a vista filled with Saguaro and other varieties of cacti, wild flowers, desert plants, petroglyths and scenery that captures your romantic desert expectations. We went to the Signal Hill Picnic area, found a trail going north and found a gorgeous sunset, the kind you see in postcards. The family found a nice place to wait til sunset and out in the distance you could hear the desert coyotes yelping at the moon, pure serenity. The visitor center is very nice with a little store and theater and a place to fill up your water bottle. This place was a great investment of my time.

Compared to national parks like in Glacier and Acadia, this park can seem brother basic. Taking in to consideration that the those to are hard to beat this one is very well done. Super clean facilities and friendly staff. The staff really took the time to educate us on the things that we were interested in. The vastness of this area was the most impressive feature. You don't want to get out and Hike simply driving through can be satisfying in and of itself the views are amazing.

The Saguaro Forests are absolutely majestic. It feels like there are more of them in the West Park but both have amazing hiking. Great hiking when the weather is cool. If your lucky the mountains are filled with beautiful wildflowers for a very short time in early spring. Bring plenty of water and food. No food in the park.

Sprawling and a decent drive just to get to it, but all the nature makes it all worthwhile especially during the times when the desert is in bloom or the for an amazing sunset or rise depending on when you choose. Be prepared for desert wildlife, if your in shorts & a t-shirt, its likely other things are out & about too, flashlight & extra water are a must. The rest tailor to your needs and following parking regulations to avoid hassale. Have fun!

We drove the loop which took around an hour with stopping to take frequent pictures. We did not have time to go hiking on the trails, but will go back and do so next time we are in Tucson. We loved the park and would enjoy going back. Highly recommend this park and suggest leaving plenty of time for the drive and a hike.

Saguaro is a gem of national parks, so close to home! We learned so much, the day was a gorgeous 74, and the trails were easily marked. We left the park wanting to do so much more! We will return. Soon.

Beautiful. The loop road is gravel but not bad to drive. A few potholes. Signal Hill.is where the petroglyphs are. You can get pretty close but, they are surrounded by rocks, which are full of rattlesnakes. Lizards are everywhere as well.

What is an amazing national park that has what is called the cactus of the Saguaro it is a very rare Cactus native to only Tucson Arizona and some parts of Sonora Mexico and this park truly represents what the values of Arizona are to protect and living right next to it I appreciate all the effort that goes into protecting the Majestics of it

Blown away by the beauty of this place. Friendliest rangers ever, exquisite visitor center, and close to every amenity. The park is packed with life, and if you are into birds, you'll be finding excuses to stay extra days.

I'm lucky enough to live in the area and still try to visit the park every weekend. The desert museum is much more than a museum and is a must visit multiple times a year even for a resident like myself.

This is a unique National Park because it comes in 2 halves, with Tuscon in the middle.
I personally prefer the West side, as it offers stunning cacti fields along with rocky hillsides to clamber up.
The East side is also magical but a tad more on the flat side. Excellent views of the mountain range serve as a majestic backdrop to the trails that crisscross the landscape.
All staff members and rangers at these locations were friendly and knowledgeable.

Beautiful desert paradise. Saguaros blanket the hills and mountains providing a gorgeous scenery. Sunsets here are phenomenal. If you want a true desert experience definitely give this place a visit. If you walk up the wash at King Canyon Trail you can find Native American petroglyphs. Visit in the spring for nice weather and wildflowers.
