Do you have enough water? Do you have sunscreen? Even if it's winter, make sure you have both. A good hat is also highly recommended. When you walk into the desert, the goal is to walk back out.

Beyond the basics mentioned above, it's a lovely, if sometimes extreme, place. The saguaros this national are abundant and bloom in April and May. Water can be found in the washes and small canyons after rain. (During monsoon season, do not linger in the washes or small canyons.)

The high regions are lovely and not desert, ranging from oak forests to pine forests. It is a long hike up.

Love this park. Rangers and visitor center staff area always nice. Well maintained. Nice to drive through. They have a lot of areas you can pull of at and walk around/explore. Just don't get lost.

I ve looked at this place on the map since I was in high school...finally got there! WhT an incredible place! Fist time in any kind of desert environment so just overwhelming. Take as many hikes as you can but don t forget lots of water! The folks at the visitor centre are so kind and helpful!

Douglas Spring trail. It was a lovely morning. We got started 9ish and temperature was cool. By 10:30, it was still very comfortable. We took a short hike along the main trail. The trail was in great condition and free of debris. Even so, watch your step when you share trail with horse and rider, dogs and all ages of people. We saw 2 pitbulls and a golden-oodle? All on leash and very friendly. Everyone was friendly, courteous and considerate. Carole King wrote a song, Up On The Roof, about finding solace in a busy city. I found mine Up On The Trail.

We particularly like the national park that's on the Eastside of Tucson. It is very special with many trails that can be easy or challenging. The loop around the entire park is fantastic takes about a half an hour. Particularly nice is the Mica View Trail and picnic area. They have a paved part that is good for anyone who is in a wheelchair or with a walker. It will also cross into other trails that can be more challenging. There is a bathroom right at the picnic area.

Such a great place to visit! I absolutely love the many trails and places to explore. I come here as often as my schedule will allow! Sunrises and sunsets are especially beautiful when viewed here because you can see them without all the houses and buildings in the way.

Staff was very sweet and accommodating despite the craziness that was the visitor's center. They treated each child who was getting their badges with such love and respect. I love this park! The cacti is abundant and beautiful!

A lot of options for hiking! All the hiking trails are excellent clean and great condition, clear signs.
The ticket is per car (20$ regular price) for a week.
There are a lots of points of interest. You won't see everything only in one shot! It takes much more.

I certainly recommend this place especially if you like cactus

One of Arizona's great wonders, the Saguaro National Park is quite fun. Streching across one side of Tucson, the park has many different places to visit while giving a feeling of the surrounding Tucson area. It's near enough for day trips of all kinds. Definitely a must see if living in Tucson.

Excellent place to see a National "Forest" of cactus. Safe to drive in, safe to get out and walk in. The Forest Service has done an excellent job of presenting these succlents in a natural environment. Very educational.

One of the most beautiful places that I have ever been to- I love the desert. The desert has always been intriguing to me, so this National Park to me was absolutely breath taking. I loved it! I would recommend this to most everyone.

Great park to drive through and hike, lots of parking and far enough out of town the city folk aren't a problem...bring lots lots of water a shade hat and your camera. You won't be disappointed!!!

My brother has a senior pass for all national parks, so we didn't have to pay to get in. The drive along the winding path is beautiful. You get to see saguaros in various stages, from very young to the "grandfathers" with several arms. Did you know saguaros can only thrive in certain areas of the country? Obviously, Tucson is one these areas. Be sure to check out the Saguaro National Park on the westside too!

This was such an incredible sight to see. I highly recommend going around sunset and venturing in between the plants. Bring a picnic for one of the semi-private picnic houses along the road. Visitors center was also gorgeous. Wish I had time for a proper hike.

This is a great National Park to visit if you've never experienced the desert landscape.

View a vast amount of Saguaro cacti, take the scenic drive, and see desert wildlife. As with most National Parks, there are plenty of hiking trails and beautiful views.

Remember to bring plenty of water! Many people overlook the pace at which the desert climate dehydrates.

If you're looking for a perfect AZ hike with Cacti, this is the winner! So many fun shapes and sizes and beautiful other nature as well. The massive Cacti forest was def the highlight for me. Fantastic hike as well.

I was very surprised at how dense the vegetation is here in the dessert. I was expecting a fair amount of bare soil with shrubs, grasses, a variety of small cacti & the occasional Saguaro. I am very happy to be wrong & find plants including cacti of all sizes all over the place and yet still have open spaces to allow big panoramic vistas. This is a great park.

I have been surrounded by Saguaros since I moved to the Valley of the Sun in 1964, however I have never been to the NP. When we arrived, the saguaros were beginning to bloom (only those 40 years old and older). The park has an 8 mile dirt trail loop that displays some of the best saguaro and chaparral I have every seen. There are places for picnicking, however it was too hot that day for man or beast.

There's nothing that compares to the wild beauty of Saguaro National Park. You might think you have an idea what it's going to be like to drive the loop trail, but then you actually do it and it's better than you ever hoped for.

The cacti are a sight to see. I was amazed by the cactus forest. It's great to drive the loop, you can see amazing sights without getting out of the car. It gets pretty hot, go early if you want to get out of the car and hike.

Truly incredible place to hike, or even drive through. I did the Esperanza trail to Mt Wasson, an 8 mile total (out and back). There were so many blooming wildflowers along the trails. It was challenging, definitely got a good workout! I would highly recommend the hike. The summit has breathtaking 360 degree views. You can see mountain ranges in the distance, valleys, it feels like you can see forever.

Best visitor center of any national park I've been to. Not much in the way of RV drivability- most roads are all wheel drive or under 25 ft only, but we were satisfied with the few nature walks we could go on. Got to see every type of flora and it's just GORGEOUS...and I usually quite dislike the desert

Saguaro National Park is such a great park to see the iconic saguaros! It's amazing how huge and animated these cacti are. You can't help but imagine them with voices. These cacti also remind me of anything reminiscent of the West and Western movies. The visitor center had plenty of scenic views of the saguaro and there are plenty of other cacti in the park as well. Make sure to bring water with you while hiking and watch your step because there are plenty of little cacti on the ground that you wouldn't want to step on.

A visit to Tucson isn't complete without a stop at Saguaro National Park. The scenic drive is well worth the price of admission. Stop at the visitors center to learn about the flora and fauna. You just might to lucky enough to spot javelinas just outside the visitors center windows. If you have time, plan a picnic at on of the several picnic areas or hike the trails which offer panoramic vistas.
