Great room and most comfy bed however only let down was the bathroom which was clean just not as nice as the rest of the facilities that Rydges has to offer. Staff are lovely and this hotel is in a great location

Amazing place and very friendly staff. Just a walk down stairs to a beautiful selection of nice restaurants and bars. Very nice luxurious rooms. Very delicious buffet for breakfast. Would recommend.

Only rating the on site restaurant: I ordered the seafood chowder for entree and the seafood was bland and tasteless like they used a frozen packet of seafood and thrown it in the mix. For the main I ordered fish and chips (mostly because the red meats were $30-40 just for the steak and it looked like you had to pay for all the sides separately so a single steak meal could have cost upwards of 55-70). I ordered the fish battered and the batter was well over cooked or the oil used was well oveedue ro be replaced and the fish again was bland and tasteless not . The chips resembled mcdonalds fries so the only saving grace was that the salad was nice and waiting staff were very good!

Lovely and clean hotel room. Lovely warm service. A great central spot right by parliament which meant we only ever needed to walk to the best spots in Welly. The only downside was that the buffet breakfast in the cafe downstairs was very pricey. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

May16 Easy to find whether you're driving or a taxi is taking you there. Pricey even for a four stars hotel in the New Zealand capital city of Wellington. The ground floor bar and restaurant are decorated in colours which are too dark for my liking. Excellent meeting rooms and dinner service for functions.

Planned a special weekend to celebrate my daughters 15th birthday. Have stayed here for work, but it would seem if you are staying here personally, the service is not the same. Our room did not get made up after the first night, could not ring and tell reception because the phone in the room did not work. Went to reception and asked for our room
To be made up. But alas 1.5 hours later the room was still the same. May have been a 4/5 hotel in its day, but I would say it's only a 2 at the moment. For $530 for 2 nights expect the room to be serviced. Won't be back for work or pleasure!

I had a pleasant stay at Rydges this week as the staff were nice. They even offered to keep the luggage for few hours without any extra cost, which was exceptional. But with the food there weren't enough options being a vegetarian in the breakfast. The baked beans were off in flavour and that created tummy bug. While when I enquired about dinner vegetarian options I was told the restaurant is meat based only, so won't have anything catering my requirements. So good to stay but will do the food outside next time.

Loved what you have done with the upgrade of the restaurant. The same great food and choice of wine so quality is always first. I wouldn't want to eat anywhere else. As always all the staff are helpful and friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable . A great place to stay.

They nickel and dime you big time. Our room was great (top floor exec studio). We stayed at 11 different places over 3 weeks, and this one offered the least value for the amount paid. We pre-ordered a 3-pack of craft beer, which was supposed to be waiting in the fridge, which it wasn't. While I was in the shower, someone came by and dropped it off, but it was supposed to be a surprise for my wife, so when 3 heineken's arrived, she was confused and didn't know to push back. We were charged $24 NZD for these too. When I placed the order a few months back, I was confused why I only had the option to get 3. I think it's because they know you need either 2 or 4, so you either pay for 1 too many, or you're forced to order at least another one. When we checked in I asked about parking. They told me it was $20 NZD per day, but would put a $50 NZD hold on my credit card. I was confused by the hold and the front desk guy sort of explained it away by talking about incidentals. The next day I checked out and was charged $50 NZD for parking for less than 24 hours. They charged me their $20 NZD daily rate for the 1 hour of parking for checking in 1 hour early, and then $30 NZD from the official check-in to check-out time. I questioned this and just got a lot of smiles and nods, but no attempt to resolve the situation. My valet receipt even said $20 NZD on it. There are a lot more hotels that value customer service and guest experience more, and I think Rydges is just another chain trying to get every dollar from you in the short-term.

I liked the hotel as it was very clean and professional. However the communication with cost was very poor from staff.I booked my room and car parking weeks in advance to save me time at check in, to only realised there were bond fees. I didn t mind paying for it but I had a budge to stick to and that fee was not in my budge. On our way out of course they deducted one of the nights of car parking that I thought I had paid for to only tell me they didn t take out the second night fee.

Also on check in there was no communication on how to work the room cards, no reminder of check in and out times and that breakfast was included. Overall I wasn t to happy with the hotel and will not ever stay again or recommend to anyone else.

Everybody is friendly, professional and efficient.
Facilities are clean. Bed is soft and comfortable with clean linen.
Room service was good, delivered by a happy young chap.
Breakfast was delicious.
The lady at the checkout was excellent. She suggested Te Papa museum with Gallipoli exhibit.
Thank you everyone for a very pleasant and relaxing weekend

We booked via phone 2 days ago to request a 2x double bed superior room for my family. After a 5 hour trip coming back from south Island we were greeted with reception telling us they did not have a superior room with 2x double beds available for our family or any booking number, even though it was confirmed over the phone. We also arrived around 7pm & needed to rest, as a family member has a medical condition. We were offered two seperate rooms beside each other though this is not acceptable when it's a family holiday. Not impressed. We ended up staying at another hotel who were very accommodating with our circumstances.

Arrived to our hotel room and it stunk with what smelt like fly spray.
We noticed the bathroom sink hadnt been cleaned properly. We were only in the room for like 5mins and I couldnt handle the smell of the cleaning products they used to clean the room so went back down to reception and asked for another room due to the strong smell of cleaning products/spray that was used to clean the room.
Reception gave us another room which we moved our stuff to which was much much better.
Later felt sick because i had inhaled the chemical that was in the 1st room that was given to us.
We had to park down the road at prime parking which was a nightmare to park due to the small ramps (not suitable for big vehicles such as suvs) ..however really close to the hotel (5min walk). The spa was nice.. The pool isnt a heated pool so expect swimming in cold water.
However beds were really comfortable which we liked.
Hotel is close to the water front and beehive.. Oh and mcdonalds is around the corner.

The room and bed is really comfy

The room and bed is really comfy
The air conditioning is bit tricky though make sure you selecting the right setting otherwise will be too hot or too cold

Extremely dirty chairs in the room. Not appropriate for a 4 star hotel. Otherwise the room was ok, but the bathroom is not up to date. Breakfast very neat. Parking is $ 30 extra and you do not have permanent access to the vehicle. Location is good - walking the entire city center can be explored. For 150 the night I would not go.
