Throughout my stay the staff was helpful and attentive. The room was clean and comfortable. It's in a great location for exploring the city.

Very nice rooms, staff are accommodating, around the corner from Wellington Station and a 24hrs Maccas.

Excellent place to stay. Friendly service and a great atmosphere!! Would recommend and will be staying in the future!!

Stay at this hotel whenever I am in Wellington and have for many years. The staff are friendly, professional and extremely helpful. Restaurant food is excellent. Highly recommend.

The room was ok. Location was fantastic.
The rooms were not clean upto the mark.
The boy at the front counter was unfriendly types.
The plates were greasy. Even after placing the tag outside the room to tidy my room. I guess they only did the bed.
I guess for that kinda of money one would expect a better service.
Although one of other front counter boy helped us to get a late check out as our flight was late night.
I guess they dont care about the customers as they know that hotel in a hot spot n people keep coming.
The showers need a replacement.. they r rusted..
..
I wouldn't stay here again for that kinda of a price.

Very good stay, amazing restaurant ther with one of the best breakfast buffets I've had and dinner was superb. We had an excellent waitress from America I believe. Overall, it was an great stay for the weekend.

Good. Room service is good. Ambience is good. Services at The Portland restaurant needs improvement.

Its okay! Go to port-lander for ya food if ya got the $$$ like me :) However there is this old cleaner that works there that likes to have a go at people now and again.. Ridges if u are looking, maybe time to get rid of that one ;)

Hotel was a little far from the main restaurant area but handy to the train station and ferry. Service was fine but the room was fairly ordinary and smallest like a sewer due to smelly drains

Don't go for the breakfast. Years ago I stayed here and the breakfast buffet was amazing. The rooms are looking a little tired now and check in is slow. The breakfast isn't the same, pancakes are disappointing. The chef is more focused on room service orders than breakfast service. The price for accommodation is a bit high for the experience.

This was an excellent location just one block away from the train station and within 10-15 mins walk to most locations in town including Te Papa, Cuban road, etc.

The breakfast that came with our room was one of the best breakfast we have ever had. The scrambled eggs was fresh and amazing, with multiple kinds of bacon, venison sausage, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms and all freshly cooked. Along with fresh fruits, fresh milk, etc. We have to call out some great staff at breakfast for our stay. Julie our waitress and her manager Daniel went above and beyond to locate a tabasco for me that I liked with my eggs. And Julie even remembered to have it out for the next morning!

Thanks so much again for your hospitality Rydges Wellington. We would definite stay with you again if we come back to Wellington.

Lovely room with a view of the harbour,clean,very comfy beds! Great restaurant too.

room has some maintainance issues (bathroom extractor fan wasnt working) but everything else was fine. operator offered to change room. nice service and attitude. would recommand.

Great hotel with most of the facilities and a great location. Views from the hotel rooms are a bit disappointing and so is the... Gym. A cycle and a treadmill does not constitute a room being called a gym. However that being said the lap pool was a descent size. The size of the gym is also laughable.
There are no cooking facilities in the room i stayed in but they do have a very capable restaurant. There are also rooms for conferences.

A bar that cannot serve coffee was very disappointing to not be able to have a coffee at a hotel that offers 24 hours room service, and the bar was open and about 20-30 people in it , I walked across the road to shell instead to buy one without any issue.

The hotel room is spacious and bright, the staff is friendly, the breakfast is rich, the restaurant is very popular at night, the reservation is good, the steak is delicious, the chef is quite prepared for the pre-dinner, the potato dish is dense.

Great nights stay - will be back next time I'm in town. Comfy bed! Slept like I would at home...

Very comfortable but practically no assistance for folk folks with low vision.

Food wasn't as good as it use to be. The ambience is good though and the staff you could not fault.

Showers need to be looked at as a elder person not very easy to get in and out of .Plus the shower head is too diffcult to adjust as the glass door thing that is over the bath is in the way to be able to adjust the water then put the shower head down .What a nightmare,Then to get out nothing to hold onto .

Booked a balcony room with water views onky to find the balcony small and unusable with no water views unless standing in a corner in the room. Food was pricey and disappointing. No parking onsite due to an event on down the road so had to spurce parking away from the hotel for an additional cost. Overall unimpressed and wont be back

Nice room and comfortable bed. Food at the restaurant was nice. Drawback to our anniversary experience was my husband left his sports jacket in the room. We made enquiries and have had no joy with getting it back. It's been nearly a week and have heard nothing. Rydges have let themselves down big time. Wont go there again.

Terrible hotel, poor quality and run down rooms. I cant believe as a resident of NZ, this is what we offer travellers.

Staff here make the hotel. The rooms are comfortable and the bar and restaurant inviting but the staff are just the best. Always friendly and helpful. Why would you stay anywhere else when you are in Wellington?

... and my secound post with yet another five stars, the menu acknowledges the primary producers of this great success that culminates on our plates. Be they 16km or 46km away from where we sit and savour the flavours. We come from a city of great restaurants (across the ditch) and this experience is something to remember for all who try it.

The shower was exactly the same as the shower in the wellington hospital for $180 their were items left under our bed from the previous guests and the shower floor was scummy, the heat pump was up so high with no instructions , when I let the service desk know she offered us free coffies!!! ,1st night out in 5 years was disappointing I would not choose to return

Very nice hotel room. Hot tub, pool, and sauna was nice to enjoy after a week of hiking. Walking distance of city center.

The place is lovely, the staff are very friendly and the room and service was up to standard. Definitely would recommend coming here. Would stay here again

The hotel is quite contemporary and rooms are spacious enough. The bar area on the ground floor serves a good selection of drinks (except for beers), whilst the breakfast area has both a healthy selection and also healthy nutritionally (juices are fresh, yogurts are available, and there's something for everyone regardless of hunger level). The rooms have been fitted with a kitchenette area with kitchen utensils available by calling housekeeping, and the bathrooms are designed well too. Only caveat would be the data cap on the in house WiFi.

Booking.com useless, not able to claim back business expense due to no gst receipt from booking.com

Rydges was great, only downfall was business trip was booked via booking.com

Convenience of being near the cake tin, but the food is only so-so despite being so pricey. Can't make an omelette without scorching it.

Good place to grab a coffee, somewhere quiet to catch up with friends in the middle of the day. Nice comfy chairs, good service.

A great hotel with friendly helpful staff and fantastic modern rooms. Though located in a busy street, there was practically no outside noise. Will stay again.

A good hotel , well positioned in the city. We had a very nice room that met all expectations. The lady that took care of our room was excellent, Sharreema I think she is really an asset to the hotel, Simon in the breakfast service however should consider another job where he is not in contact with customers he was not pleasant. That aside we were very pleased with the hotel overall

Food served for the conference was really good with a good selection

Rating this place as a four to five star hotel is an underestimation. Definitely with 6 to 7 star rating. Being my first time in New Zealand the staff were friendly, helpful, and outgoing. The suite we booked was overwhelming with comfort, cleanliness, and spacious. The breakfast buffet is mind blowing and filling. We got our monies worth and much more. I will definitely book here again anytime I come back to Wellington. Thank you Rydges for making my 2017 Christmas epic and memorable.

The room was comfortable and the room service was top notch, however the customet service was lacking. It took us 30 minutes to get ahold of reception even though the hotel was basically empty and the guy who brought us our food, seemed agitated, angry almost.
