We stayed here a few months ago, love it. The breakfast is divine! The rooms are pretty comfy and the location can't be beat. It's so close to everything there is to see in Wellington. Will definitely stay here again when I 'm back in the area.

Rydges is a fantastic place to stay. I usually stay there once a week for business. The staff are highly trained and deliver first class service. The rooms are always immaculate. The food is a very high quality.
I would highly recommned Rydges Wellington for anyone looking for something special.

Booked 10 days before. Confirmed 2 rooms side by side. Arrived not the case reception not at all helpful until i asked to speak with duty manager. I wont stay there again staff don't smile except the cleaners. Lovely overworked ladies. 2 nights 2 rooms overpriced. Sat in lounge to watch rugby along with others and a drink. No volume because not all patrons like rugby....

A nice enough hotel with an average buffet breakfast and good location. However, the hotel carpark was full and the staff weren t knowledgeable on the prices of the nearest carpark so we had to waste time sorting it - they did tell us that we could park on the street for free at night but we then had to wake up at 7:45am to go down and pay for a day ticket. They also didn t provide a plug for the bath tub and we had to call and wait for them to bring one up which was a bit strange.

Rude, inefficient staff. Disgusting lack of service. Never stay here. Huge rip off. Yukky food. Uncomfortable bed. Room needs to be cleaned and serviced. High price for zero service.

The best hotel ever. Very friendly staff. I had to book a room for 2 nights at short notice which was hassle free. Then to my surprise they upgrade me to executive suite free of charge with a fantastic view of Wellington City on the 16th floor!!!

This place is a filthy, overpriced hole. The lack cleanliness both in the room and in the common areas is the worst I ve experienced. It really looks as though no one cleans anything aside from changing the sheets, we hope. Never again would I stay here. Am actually going to tell people to avoid it, as it must be a health issue.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Rydges. The room was clean and welcoming and the bed was perhaps the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. The hotel let s itself down with little things like check in/out times and cleaning in the bathroom but overall we enjoyed our stay and would return.

Our stay was good to say the least. We had already booked & paid for our accommodation on line so upon checking in we were then stung with a $150 bond that we weren't expecting or told about. Our room was decent, however, we were there for 5 nights and not once was our linen changed during our stay. There was a daily room service but again our toilet paper was not restocked and we ended up having to ring reception. There was a long strand of hair in the fridge so cleanliness was not top priority. Also in the information book in the room clearly states that each room has a mini bar but not ours. On the upside the Valet was great always had our rental car waiting out front on time everyday. The Restaurant & Bar facilities were amazing. The food was delicious and the location was handy & close to everything. Within walking distance.
We would be happy to stay there again.

Staff were awesome, my daughter and I had a blast, however I booked a month in advance, called even days before, and turned up at 930am to ensure a car park as last year my car got broken into at Wilson carparking, no one called me to offer me a car park, I feel this could be improved on. Other than that, a very cool place to stay.

Room given has no view, nothing. Car park need $30 a night, that's evening robbery given you are staying there. Need a carpark search for 2 nights. Then money needed to pay after 8am. Very very inconvenient. They did mention something like great Breakfast, and it's not, very limited choice of food and taste just normal not great. But overall services received from the staffs was quite pleasant.

Poor customer service from the main reception seat to the bar to the restaurant.
Fealt like we were spoken down to and FYI you are not better than the people who are paying for your service! So you shouldn t talk to them like that
We selected parking and laundry was a necessity when booking but found upon check in that they were available but at a hefty levy!
But we did actually find after studying the web page there was a small not of costs for parking.
We arrived at the restaurant to be told we needed to book if we wanted to eat there, which was confusing since there was not a person in the restaurant,
So we requested a booking and he advised he could squeeze us in and put us in the back corner,
We requested sitting near the window but were told we couldn t, even though we were still the only people in there.
The common beer I ordered wasn t available
My wife s drink was incorrect
The only meal I wanted, I was told was not able to be done but they could do a different one and asked if that was ok? I had to ask what the different option was
Our meals were just slapped on the table without even asking who was having what
The sky tv only has the basic channels!
We stay away a fair bit and this is the 5th place we have stayed on this trip alone, and this is the more expensive of the places and left us the least satisfied, the list goes on but I feel you get the idea
Just a little side note, I read a review that the building next door was still working and making noise until 8pm and the response was there contract states a 6pm work finish, yet we have just turned our in room climate control off as it s so noisey we can t get our son to sleep and now all we can hear is grinders at the construction site next door. It is currently 7:10pm

This is a higher end, cost wise hotel but lacking in detail. The good: great location, great indoor pool, spa and sauna facilities especially in winter.
The improvement:
1. I was in a room with a small kitchen. There is a chopping board but no knife. There is washing liquid but no drying cloths. So is the hotel not encouraging you to use the kitchen but provide half the facilities?
2. The heating system that is temperamental to switch on, noisy.
3. Room service - my came with a salt that has nothing in the shaker. Could have check it before bring it up to the room.

Always great staying at Rydges in Wellington. Central to most things and great rooms. The staff are always helpful and the restraunt which doubles as breakfast area is fantastic. Great steak and reasonably priced.

The meal wasn't as good as last time we found the lamb pie watery Steak was fab well done. $50 charge to our card - first time we've been told about this. Rooms are always lovely and staff are awesome..love staying.

Good mid quality hotel. Three and a half stars really. Rooms are clean and quite well appointed - ours had two hotplates and a good sized fridge. It's starting to look a little tired, especially the bathroom. Good location for the government end of town. There is a lot of traffic noise (we were on level 7). Portlander restaurant is very good and does meat well, and the breakfast was excellent value at $20 for the cooked Big Breakfast.

I had a night here on a whim when I was passing through the city, the staff were very kind and upgraded my room to one with a beautiful view of the harbour.
All amenities and facilities were as expected, it's a shame I couldn't stay longer to enjoy the full experience.
