GREAT SELECTION. workers there are very helpful, and friendly. Would recommend.
Yo Thanks for the hookup and being open! Your employes/owners Mike and Nate..gave there honest opinions on a couple wheel options and bearings...
Awesome shop and really helped my kid get set up with a board she liked and even personalized it for her.
The customer service was great and friendly.
This place was great, the two guys that helped fit my daughter were amazing. We talked through all the options that would fit her riding style and find her a fun Halloween fright board They have a great size selection of sizes and patterns. Thanks again! She had a great first time out on her way home
My business ratings are mostly short and sweet but to the point. When this company popped up on my Google Map icon this evening, I knew this might take a minute . hmm..... I swung into this shop today, it was my type of skate shop, not all fancy and new, an older building but cleaned up, laid out nicely and that true cool skate shop vibe (first plus)! The young guy behind the counter asked me what he could help me with and I told him I was there for skateboard wheels, through the array of Wheels on display, I immediately eyed the only two sets that I would put on a long board. They had them both ? Wow! (2nd plus)! (They also have a nice selection of snowboards and accessories alike). But before I could make a decision as to which one to look at first, he said," I have a suggestion for a wheel and I think you may like it". Even though I bought my first skateboard 44 years ago, Im always open to the suggestion of the guy behind the counter ! He pulled one of the wheels out and at first glance it looked like a very nice Wheel, he handed it to me, as soon as I got it in my hand I thought , hmm I don't even want to know the price of these. They were extremely grippy, decent cores, catchy white and black lettering and sporting my favorite hand gesture ,the ever famous "hang loose". The more that I'm feeling this wheel in my hand the more I'm liking it, the more that I'm not even caring how pricey they are, then he hits me with the price which is like $26 less than what I was planning on spending on wheels that day. SWEET!!!! I need bushings for my trucks, he sets me up and immediately starts swapping out the bushings,(3rd plus)! I was just going to do it when I got home. A younger, new skater to the sport walks in,he has never owned a board, he's got lots of questions . Michael , behind the counter helps out with all of his questions with professionalism and assertiveness, I'm impressed! (4th plus). He throws out some product names to the young guy and I suddenly started to realize just how old I am. finaly!!!! something wasn't a Plus!! Lol ! When he suggested Powell Peralta, I starting counting Back the Years, Stacy Peralta was one of my Idols of a sport that just came on so strong in the mid to late seventies. George and Stacy Joined Forces in 78 I believe and was one of the most successful skating companies in the world. The Bones Brigade was one of the most competitive teams in skateboarding at the time! Thats the feeling the shop emits, in the way that people are going about taking care of everybody's business, I was just totally impressed! The shop is close to 45 miles out of my way but I was down that way and I stopped in and I'm glad I did. I will go 45 miles out of my way just to go back . If they offer you up a few stickers, throw some cash in the jar on the right side of the back counter, it's for charity or some type of cause. I only had 13 bucks in loose cash on me, but it all went in the jar. This was an A+ five star treatment at a small business that I wish I could go in and support everyday! Shops like this are slowly disappearing, its so nice to walk into one like this and get true small business treatment! Much thanks goes to Michael and motion Boardshop!
One of the best and knowledgeable shops in the Seattle area
Motion Boardshop is the best longboard store in the area, run by great people who really know and are stoked about their business.
I went in not knowing anything about longboards and the owner was extremely nice and helpful! He let me ride a few boards around the store and helped me pick the best one for me-I ve been riding it around my neighborhood and I have to say best money I ve ever spent! It s so fun and the store had so many different graphics it s so cool-highly recommend!!
Motion Boardshop is the place to be in Seattle to get skateboard, longboard or snowboard products. Everything from building a cool downhill longboard to a snowboard or tons of accessories for your style of riding.
Great products, knowledgeable friendly staff, and just overall stoke.
I came in with a board that had just broken in in half on my third day in Seattle and Nate helped hook me up with a new devk and got me on my way, even threw in a discount
Awesome customer service the owner is super friendly very helpful and knowledgeable got exactly what I wanted quickly and easily. I would recommend the place
After riding the same board, bindings and boots for about 20 years I came here on the recommendation of the folks at ProSki on Aurora to get up to date. Michael helped me on several occasions, first with boots, which made a huge difference right away, then with demoing a couple boards and eventually buying one at a nice end of season discount. It was really fun talking with the guys every time I went in and I learned a lot. I'm thrilled with my new setup and as long as I ride I will be a loyal customer at this local, independent business! Looking forward to going back to talk about my longboard situation too.
Thanks to Nate for helping my hot Japanese waifu find the most comfortable setup for her to begin her journey learning the art of shredding the gnar. I'll be back for some of those wild Carver trucks!
Much Love,
Tim and Ayumi
Wow, Nate is so helpful! Tuesdays slide clinic = :D
Not only do they know everything, but they'll let you try every longboard you need to so you can find exactly what you need! Staff is super chill and helpfull!
I've been coming to Motion for at least a decade now and have always appreciated their inventory and the service they provide. Nate is a passionate owner and it's great to see Motion in good hands. I will always point friends to Motion if they are interested in building a new board.
Update: I don't know why your response (business owner or whoever) states that that your business (MOTION BOARDSHOP) doesn't do open heart surgery. I came here for a set of wheels...
I left a 1-star review since I had a bad experience purchasing them with one of the employees.
Awesome place great knowledgeable people Nate is a great dude! If you are looking for a Long board, or a Skateboard you should check out Motion Board shop Local Awesome!
The owner Nate is a great guy and is genuinely concerned with you leaving the shop with the right gear and not empty pockets. There's nothing commercial about the store and it's great to support local business owners who can be very competitive with prices. If you're very new to snowboarding or a lifer you'll get amazing service and walk out of the store satisfied. I'll definitely be going back there.
So I brought this old board in that needed some love and these guys sold everything I needed (park tool, bearings, grip tape) and at a very fair price too. They even did the remove and re-grip (tape) for me on the spot.. Throw in a few war story anecdotes, sly humor, and some philosophy and I felt right at home. My longboard looks and feels great now with the makeover. Special thanks to Aiden for all the help. Big ups!
I've shopped here a few times and these guys are great. The staff is really well informed and they'll get you what you need without trying to make you buy anything unnecessary.
SO SO much better than Evo! Awesome customer service and a fantastic selection of top gear with good prices. No douchebags, no sales pitch, just facts and plenty of help where you need it from people who know what they re talking about. Run by a rad person. A++ will be back here!
The owner is very friendly and helpful. He was extremely kind and spent a ton of time helping each member of our family, whether we had no idea what we were looking for or knew of exactly what we wanted. Their inventory isn t huge but has a ton of variety. The store and service is outstanding!
These guys are great. My wife and I demo multiple boards and bindings. We ultimately picked the best gear for us and they applied the demo fee to the cost of the boards. Their price was the same as any online store with excellent service. They even waxed our new boards for us.
Great skate and snowboard shop. I've had 2 core shot repairs done here and they were done well with a fast turnaround time. Nate is very knowledgeable about all the gear they carry
The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. I wish they had more working as wait times are long. K2 board and boots are beat up but comfy
Awesome staff and fantastic pricing. Love this shop
Amazing place, fantastic people. They were patient and answered my thousands of questions and really customized my board to my exact preferences. Huge selection in a dope spot with the Burke right next door so you can skate immediately. I've been to at least 5 other skate shops and this is still by and far the best. Came back to Seattle just to get a board here. Finally got an amazing board that is perfect in ways I didn't know I needed.
Great people, amazing advice. No bs, just straight forward thinking and explanations of any questions asked. Definitely coming back soon
Super chill. Fun conversation. Looks like they set me up with some great stuff.
staff was super nice. place is splendid. will come back here 10/10
Literally the best service I've ever had! Great selection and very knowledgeable staff.
Fixed a huge dent in my snowboard for really cheap also.
Rented a snowboard for my son. Good price for a whole season rental, friendly and expert service. He ended up with better gear than he would have rented at the mountain, with much better care taken with his fitting. Thanks!
Pleasantly surprised. Great selection considering it s a small shop. Knowledgeable and friendly staff and incredibly helpful and accommodating. It s obvious they run this store because they have a passion for skating and boarding.
Owner: total boss = down to earth + knowledgeable + generous w/ his time.
Very happy with the way they treated us. All shops and stores should be like this one!
Fantastic customer service! I'm new to long-boarding and they helped me try out boards and pick out the right trucks and wheels for what I wanted. Then they assembled everything in front of me and explained how everything works. Got a free t shirt too. I appreciate their stance on safety as well. They are big on wearing a helmet and saving your brains!
Fantastic board shop!
My bro and I are getting back into longboarding after a great many years, and the guys at this shop were beyond helpful and very patient with all our questions. This is a longboard/snowboard shop, and I have heard of shops offering to tune a snowboard before, but this is the first time anyone has offered to tune my skateboard. Great service, killer selection and pro advice. Couches. This is the place.
My friend and I were heading up to crystal for a two day trip and needed to rent some gear. This place had beyond the best prices in town. The guy behind the counter was exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable and didn't make us feel stupid for having dumb questions. He took his time getting us set up with the right equipment. And made sure we had everything we needed to have a great couple days on the mountain. Without a doubt the best snowboard and boots I've ridden on. They will get all my business anytime I need a rental and most likely when I need to purchase. I HIGHLY recommend this place!
Best of the best. Don't miss them if you are in the area.
Super knowledgeable staff that will work with you to find you the right setup for your skill level and desired style
By far the best prices I have seen in town. To me it feels like the owner just wants to help people get people outside and doing the things that he himself loves to do.(Skating, Snowboarding) I am always in the shop way longer than I expect to be because of the amazing customer service and the awesome conversations that can be had here. I absolutely suggest that anyone looking for gear to buy or rentals or even just expert advice stop in. I haven't felt pressured to buy anything any of the times that I have been in and I have always felt as if all of the advice that has been given has been from a good place. I will absolutely be back!
Great shop for all your Longboarding needs. Nate (owner) is amazing. Motion hosts lots of cool events as well.
Positive and knowledgeable staff, great shop for old and new skaters.
By far the best boardshop i've ever been too, people were nice and helpful, and just a good atmosphere in general.
Staff were super helpful; snowboard rental equipment was set up quickly at a great price; and, super stoked because they also sell gear for my skateboard.
I went to motion board shop to get a deck, I told them everything I had and withing 5 minutes they had picked out multiple options that fit my parts and price range plus they let me stand on them to really get a feel for the deck. I would definitely recommend motion board shop to my friends wether they be a veteran or a beginner.
Stopped in yesterday and spoke to Nate. Very informative not pushy at all. Went back today with some more questions worked with Garret and walked out with a great first board. Both these guys were super helpful, patient and a pleasure to meet. They didn t talk down to me even though I knew nothing about skateboarding. They had a huge selection to choose from and the guidance I needed to choose the right board for me. Look forward to visiting again. I ll also bring my snowboard in this fall for a tune up before hitting the slopes. Found a shop I can trust!
Big thank you to the staff who helped me today!!
I brought in my surf skate adapter, and he helped me build the complete set up from start to end!!
Very friendly, knowledgeable staff
Forgot to ask his name....But Huge thanks to him!!
No more online board shopping after this great customer service.
I was wondering why I left such a bad review of this place.
I now remember the employee I talked to was super rude to me.
I'm sure their service has improved since I went. Give them a try, I guess.
Went to buy a skateboard for my daughter and got perfect guidance and service
Back in 2012, Nate helped me set up a board when I decided I wanted to learn how to slide. I was completely clueless, but he never made me feel stupid for asking a lot of questions. In the years since, I ve had Motion help me out with a couple downhill setups, a cruiser, and most recently a couple of park setups for my girlfriend and me. We re in Utah now and we forgot to order the hardware, so I sent an email. In true Nate fashion, he had already thrown in the hardware (and a skate tool) for free. This is why I will continue to shop at Motion even though Utah has some pretty good local shops. They ve just always been a cut above in terms of knowledge, service, and atmosphere.
1st of all , did not have a clue going in that a shop existed like this one and right in seattle , pretty handy hey
Find out pretty much the owner is somehow renowned, and connected
his input is apparently evident in skating circles and board designs , super chill
He even demoed some boards from his own collection standing there by the counter
We left with far more confidence in what to think about for quick skates or long board get arounds
Racks of fully setup landyachtz, carver, anon, and like more setup in this center display, back wall carried all these varied local and east coast + cally offerings , you know the China versions were so techno perfect it startled us
Counter ran from one end to other , loaded up with forged and cast trucks , wedges, bearings that never seen even , so cool
Only downside was the short stock of pads and all that
Kinda like a retail skate haven , and the know how the owner offers is bit surreal
Showed up 10 minutes till 6 and they had already locked the door and wouldn't let me in
My wife & I are new to the world of longboarding, so I was really glad we came here. Michael was super extra patient with us and our endless list of dumb questions. I spent probably an hour deciding between all the boards and eventually found one that was perfect.
Dog friendly too.
Amazing customer service! I got my first long board here recently and they helped me pick just the right one. I also got a pretty good deal! I recommend to buy your board here.
Workers here are very knowledgeable about everything longboarding.
Excellent shop. Salesmen had perfect recommendations and were happy to help us try everything out. I couldn't think of a question they couldn't answer. Very happy with my longboard.
Great shop in an interesting location. So far I've gotten tools, wheels, and bearings from this place - all great quality and affordable. They even invited me and my husband to come skate with them!
Wide selection. Slightly inaccurate website.
Great Youtube videos.
I've been out of the longboard game for close to a decade, but Nate was super helpful and patient. He got me set up with the appropriate wheels to work on my standup slides.
I love this shop and if you guys think that these are unrealistic prices , they are not. The prices of all there products are how much they are worth. Easily a 5 star for me.
Just got my first skateboard here. Really helpful staff that was about to tell me all I need and help put it all together with me. Love to go to local shops whenever I can.
Just a fantastic shop. When they restock i feel like a kid in a candy store because they have so many different kinds of wheels, trucks, decks, etc. I recommend this store to anyone who is a beginner, intermediate, or advanced in boarding. Defiantly a needed store in seattle.
Great place. Staff is patient and quite informative. Gives reasonable recommendations. Bought my first ever board here! Sure will revisit in the future
This is a longboard shop. They don't really sell parts for skateboards so I had to go somewhere else.
These guys are awesome and are the only longboard specific shop I know of super nice have everything and have alot of answers if you have questions
They've got a lot of interesting stuff there! Definitely the best shop in the area. Staff will be willing to help you out, and they're pretty nice-
at least, on the outside.
Walked in and two staff were talking crap about customers that had visited the store hours before myself. Not sure what exactly they did that made the staff talk like that- but in my opinion that ain't too cool. Overall, they're nice as long as you don't annoy them in any way.
Don't have much info on shipping.
The owner is fantastic. Let me in a couple minutes before the store opened and way more than willing to let me try all the longboards I wanted. Ended up buying the first one he recommended to me after trying like 6 others. Really knowledgeable and patient guy, even when dealing with a beginner like me. His selection is huge and prices are good. It's a bit of a drive for me to go there but it absolutely beats going to Zumiez.
Good gear and they are willing to fulfill your requests as their inventory allows. I wanted a camber-ish board and they let me use a pretty nice Slash. I don't recall the name of the employee that helped me, but he clearly knew a lot about gear and was willing to talk shop with me for a bit while he was setting up the board. Competitively priced. Flexible-- 1 day rental includes day before and day after your riding day. If you're renting in Seattle, this is the place to go.
Really friendly and helpful staff and great pricing for rentals.
Great staff, helped me pick out my first board. Fair warning: They have a much better longboard selection. I managed to pick up a great first skateboard but kind of wish they had more short deck options. Either way, great experience, and I would super recommend these guys. Thanks again!
Great shop, nice inventory that the staff knows well. I'm an new/inexperienced boarded and they're good dudes about it, patient, and willing to spend their time teaching the basics. Seems like a really inclusive atmosphere.
The owner knows his stuff. Always happy to support a local shop, and appreciate that they carry a selection of women's snowboard gear that is beyond the beginner package. Demos are readily available to rent, and the service department has a fast turnaround time on getting your gear tuned and ready to go for the season.
awesome!! i love how friendly the workers are and they really know their stuff. ive gone in loads of times and i always get exactly what i need.
I'm over 40 and never know how I'll be treated when I go into a place like this, but these guys are great! They're all super knowledgeable and friendly... I went in 3 times before pulling the trigger on a $300 long board they were always patient and answered all my quwstions. Love this place.
I have now bought 2 longboards from these guys and have been satisfied both times. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff, great prices and the owner showed me the Burke Gilman Trail, great for cruising.
Cool shop. Lots of boards to choose from and expert advice. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a board for the first time or just looking for parts or new equipment. The sales person that was there when we went was very helpful and didn't pressure is into buying anything. Great experience for my kids.
