We didn't eat and just had drinks. The music and atmosphere was excellent! The signed guitars everywhere were too cool.
We didn't eat and just had drinks. The music and atmosphere was excellent! The signed guitars everywhere were too cool.
Popular place, not easy to get a good seat to see the band
This is a very cool bar with a killer vibe. A definite must.
The Food and Atmosphere were Amazing!!! Our Server...was Very Disappointing. He was Good at the Very Beginning and went down hill. Took the food a LONG Time to get to the table. Something about a LARGE TO GO ORDER at the Bar. Finally had to get the woman server to get our check. Avoid the guy with the beard.
Unfortunately we had a poor visit. Website said music started at 8pm. We arrived at 7:50 with music playing and then they took at break just before 8 and didn t get back on by the time we left at 8:35. We paid $10 in cover fees and didn t have time to listen to anything. Plus beers were over $7. They also allow cigarettes inside which is just a total turn off in 2018. Wish I could rate this place better but it just was not enjoyable :(
The guy on the door said I needed I.d. to get served alcohol - I'm 49. It was a quiet Thursday night. I was stone cold sober.
Food just okay. Too expensive and service was not good.
Busy night, wouldn't recommend if you are from out of town. But seems like a great place for locals
Wonderful place! Great atmosphere!! Great food and the bartender/server was so kind and friendly!!
Awesome vibe, very welcoming and my first time coming here.Love the food
We planned on just stopping in for a bit before heading on to the next club, but the band kept us there all night. The Sensation Band is absolutely incredible, with an amazing energy it vibe that keeps you on the dance floor for hours. Well worth the $5 cover, in my opinion. The other clubs may be free to get in, but they're not Rum Boogie.
Great food and music. Wonderful atmosphere, amazing wait staff!
Atmosphere is something you can't get anywhere else. Definitely go!
Super place, cool personnel, excellent music band, superb design, especially hanging guitars all around with names of famous bands...
Music was great; BBQ was good eats; hood variety of Rum drinks.
Food with real quality ingredients. Nothing but enjoyable experiences here.
Great music! Loved the vibe and a good selection of food. All of Beale's is worth the trip!
Really cool joint for tourists who like live music. Food is ok.
Good food, good live music. But the total billl was way overpriced. But that's Beale Street on average ;)
Definitely not a place to watch sports. Ribs are just ok. Good music though.
Had read beans and rice. The rice was crunchy it was like soup and Luke warm
Very nice staff! Great food! Great service and fun environment!!!
Great staff, nice roomy bar/grill with great entertainment. Not the loud/crazy atmosphere like a few others, so the whole family enjoyed the atmosphere. The smoked wings were AWESOME!!! Will definitely go back to Rum Boogie Cafe!
Read the reviews and was so excited to check the place out on New Years Eve. The first band, "Pam and Terry" was horrible! It was like listening to bad karaoke way to loud. The second band, "Freeworld" was awesome but hard to enjoy because of the overall atmosphere. The service was terrible and there didn't seem to be any organization to their system. Waitress was rude. Had a hard time getting a drink. Waited a long time for our food. The ribs were so tough I couldn't get the meat off. When I ask for silverware and a plate we waited 15 minutes to get plastic silverware. The bathrooms were disgusting and the men's room had a big puddle of urine in the floor. Very bad experience for our first time in Memphis and will never return.
Food was good staff nice an they were so sweet to my kids
Great bar on Beale street. Dollars on the wall, March madness on the Tv. Here tonight for a few drinks before Tennessee BBQ.
Always fun, thanks for having my credit card kept safe to morning when I left, and came back to get it.
A group of us from Dallas stepped in to grab a bite and some beverage last Saturday eve. This place was a hoot. Staff was great. Food was great. I had the Gator Gumbo. Others in the group tasted and agreed it was good. Others in the group commented the red beans and rice and hot wings were good as well. Had a little 2 pc band that was very entertaining. We hung out on the drag and found ourselves returning to Boogie. Table 41 has notoriety now.
Came to Memphis to tour area. Walked down Beale St looking for place to eat lunch. Rum Boogie Cafe looked pretty good. This was a bad mistake. Friend ordered pork chops and two vegetable meal. It was terrible. The chops were tough and the vegetables did not taste very good. She left most of it on the plate. I had a philly steak sandwich and fries. The fries were very good but the sandwich was not. The hoggie bun was not fresh and the sandwich was very greasy. I rated the resturant a 3 because the food was not good but the atmosphere and service were. Would not go there again though.
Very nice cafe in Memphis. Attentive staff told us all our water was to do in Memphis.
Just a lot of fun, great music and nice sound system...
Love this place..Always great music...One of the best places on Beale St
We stopped in the bar and enjoyed some fantastic blues music. It was so cool to sit in an old bar on Beale Street and listen to live blues music. I think it made the whole experience on Beale resonate with the past. I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the band, it was the lead singer/harmonica player's name and his brother played guitar. We were there on December 14th, 2019. Great band!
Always a pleasure to come here just sit back and listen to live music performances.
Good Tunes, cold beer and Good Service! Good Company for me personally!
This place is awesome..the music was killer.. I loved it
The decor of the building is pretty sweet with the guitars lining the walls and the second floor. The food was rather disappointing. Not sure if the kitchen was having a off day with the ribs but they were disappointing. The dry rub on the ribs had no taste and the meat was over-cooked and nearly dry. The pulled pork was overcooked as well leaving most of the meat as hard as beef jerky. Even than the BBQ sauce that was used tasted as if it was a cheap sauce bought in a grocery store. On the positive side the baked beans that came with the platter were delicious. The host that greeted us at the door was very polite and upbeat.
Not very happy. Ordered 2 different drinks had neither. Also door checker lighting propane heater inside the building. Not very smart.
Red beans and rice were amazing. Awesome guitars hanging everywhere.
Service wasn't very good one order taker who was not very confident. I ordered the catfish dinner only to be told thirty minutes later they had none. My friend ordered fried green tomatoes and was told that ran out also. We had already paid so we had to make comparable selections. The food was ok but not exceptional too me.
It's a great place on the heart of beale street. This was our second visit after a year. We loved it. The interior decor is very very nice. Hanging guitars from the ceiling, autographs, scribbled messages every nook and corner..stepping inside this takes you back to an world so unlike today's pop culture.
Needs a good wipe down. Cheap lightly rummed drinks and so-so entertainment. Blues side much better entertainment but little room to sit while drinking.
This place was so lit! I reccomend if you're on Beale Street roll through...
Office party. Certainly could've done without the bartender showing more pushed-up cleavage than Elvira at a monster truck rally. Google it.. it's a lot.... Elvira, in general. The truck rally thing was-- nevermind. Just Google 'Elvira'......
The food was underwhelming. I ordered the smoke wings and they were were dry crispy, however I did enjoy the red beans and rice. Outside of the food, it's a decent place for music. I recommend visiting for the celebrity see guitars hanging throughout the place and the vintage posters. There's a lot of history in the joint itself, literally and figuratively.
WILD HAIR ROAD TRIP, 2018. ( just never posted this review).
Jumped up, drove away and a Couple states later, I'm at the Rum Boogie.
Incredible history preserved here. It's all about the music, the musicians, the tools of their trade and the food. A jaw-droppin collection of guitars played by Rock's, Rhythm's AND Blues Finest. Small stage still gets a crowd folks were enjoying themselves-- great people watching... but I was hungry!!
In Texas--BBQ is 'daily bread" (No Diss.Just Diff). I also make killer gumbo, HOWEVER, seeing GATOR TAIL Gumbo, got my girly gut a-gigglin'!!
Wonderful, thick, rich roux and rice... Chunks of tender meat, seasoned to a Tee. Delicious bread to sop up every drop. Being a Heat-Freak, I ordered extra red pepper plus added my own habanero blend.
They know their Gator Tail Gumbo!! I'd drive back for it
Really cool atmosphere. Love all the famous people's guiitars and memorabilia hanging from the ceiling. Maybe a bit pricey but right on par with the rest of Beale St.
Walked by and place was getting set for the band. Carded at the door and given a card. When the waitress took our drink order at the table she asked us for the card provided us at the door. We were asked for our IDs AGAIN.. the told there is a $4,37 cover for the band. don t mind paying a cover but tell us that at the door! To top it off we were giving our drinks in a 6 oz plastic cup 2/3 full .. place gave me a sour note to stay there for a 6-person band Warning. Locals were given large plastic cups of beverages. Locals and band members smoking in the facility. Stinky
Best red beans and rice I have ever had and the live music made me want to stay forever. I will be back again for sure the next time I'm in Memphis. Great atmosphere and food
Servers were rude it was 1:00 pm and they were already out of many menu items and as a rotten cherry on top the silverware was disgusting and stained.
Great venue for watching Memphis Blues acts. The drinks are good and cheap, and the servers are fast and friendly. Highly recommend this as a place to visit on Beale St!
What an great experience to find live music on Christmas night! The venue was really neat. A great atmosphere but a bit pricey.
Great location, atmosphere, and live music; however, I do not expect to pay a cover to buy dinner and drinks on a slow night when I would have tipped the band anyways. Usually a fun place but this last experience was a bad one.
One of the best small music venues I've ever been in
Wife and I stopped by for a drink while on our 6th anniversary. Ordered 2 drinks and the Fried Green Tomatoes. I have to say the best food, drink and atmosphere. I will definitely be back here again.
Great Music, good ambient, nice drinks!
Amazing band: Free World!!
Very nice experience. Lots to look at! Food was pretty good. Felt sorry for the waitress, only one there apparently but she did a really good job and was very friendly. Definitely would go back again, this time to listen to the live music they have.
Best ribs I've ever had. Loved them dry....no need to get sauce all over me!! 3/7/16 Austin, TX
