The traditional shop on the Beal. The quality of the music is high. This can also be recognized by who has left all his guitar there. They are then hung up there. Look al the ceiling and discover which musicians you know so. Simply unique.

Brilliant place with great music and awesome people! Beers are cheap and the service is lovely. We can highly recommend getting there between 5:30 And 8:30 On a Friday or Saturday night and you'll catch Pam and Terry who are fantastic musicians with an awesome repertoire and a cheeky sense of humour. A must see for anyone visiting Memphis!

We stopped to eat here on this Friday around supper time, expecting their BBQ to be awesome. Very disappointed in the food we received. We ordered the $18 pork shoulder with 2 sides and the red beans and rice. The pork was hard, tough, and old with a bottle of cheap tasting bbq sauce poured on top of it. The beans weren't good and were cold. The red beans and rice tasted like vinegar. Yuck! Sad to say, but the water was the best thing we had there. Needless to say, we didn't eat our meals and told and showed the waitress how bad the food was. We still had to pay full price. Never going back! Go to BB Kings..so much better food quality, very authentic!

Maybe this is petty, but years ago i went there for my anniversary the guy came around with a camera ( like i said years ago) he charged $10, i gave him a $20, he said be back with your change, never came back, so i found him confronted him about my $10, got it back, music & food were great!!

This was our second visit and this time it was horrible the food was terrible. We ordered a full slab of ribs that tasted like day old bbq. The were also warmed up too long so we also received crispy ribs. Our server was young and didn't know much about the alcohol that was served. I will NEVER go back again.

Ok

Service less than mediocre...food atrocious...
We were told we could not have bud light beer.we ordered substandard beer instead.we finally got our food...my fiance ordered chicken nachos...I ordered the guacamole blues burger. My burger was burned probably why it took so long to get it. No guacamole on it...hmm, I ordered it because I wanted guacamole . Then we saw a waitress giving bud light to a table beside us...we stopped her and said. Our waitress said we could not order bud light. Whats the deal? She said, i dont know why she said that? we asked if we could have some.? She said sure. Then .our waitress came back and said the other waitress would get it for us...it never happened... we decided to leave...if the waitresses would have cared Rum Boogie would probably make more money...and the waitresses would probably get tip money too...so, we went back to the Peabody Hotel...a fabulous place!!! Where my fiance got sick from the atrocious nachos he ate at Rum Boogie...

Food is alright, drink specials are good, and the service is good as well. The bands they have are always good and there are two bands playing at a time on either side of the restaurant and you can relocate.

We were greeted by a rude greeter (go figure) on 2 separate occasions. First time he wanted a cover charge even though we wanted to just go in for the food. Second time he basically stopped us at our tracks and told us not to bring outside drinks in.

First off, I get it. It's Beale Street, there will be cover charges BUT, we couldn't care less for the band. Secondly, it's f***king Beale Street, almost everyone has drinks in their hands. I get it if it's your place's policy but there's NO NEED to be rude to your potential paying customers.

Guys, first impression is everything. If you want your business to keep thriving maybe it's time to choose a more friendly greeter. We will NEVER coming back here.

I walked into Rum Boogie Cafe with high expectations and a growling stomach; after all, you re eating on Beale Street in an area iconically known for its excellent food. I was warmly welcomed by an overall friendly staff, great live music (as expected), and a really nice atmosphere that fit right in to its location on Beale. We ordered off of a delicious but EXPENSIVE menu, and waited for around 45 minutes for our food; that s fine, I was still entertained by the music and billiards. However, once we received our food, I noticed that almost every aspect of the meals seemed to me as if they were pre-cooked and frozen. The burgers were burnt and not cold but not super hot either, the buns were dry, fries were clearly frozen and warmed. I actually thoroughly enjoyed the gumbo that I ordered, it was REALLY good. But my experience was still disappointing. Granted, i completely understand that sometimes restaurants have bad days, and hopefully this was one of them. I hope to bump up my review to 5 stars!

Tried to go to this place for dinner on 2 seperate occasions. The first time they wouldn't let us in without paying a cover charge. I said we just want to eat, we're not here to party. Oh well, still need to pay the cover if you want to come in. That time we went to Kings Palace Cafe and had an awesome Cajun dinner instead. The next time they wouldn't let us come in with outside drinks. We just left Wet Willie's and had full cups of Pina Colada. This Beale St! Everyone has a drink in their hand. I told the guy at the front door we were going to buy food and beers. Can't come in with outside drinks! Fine, we walked over to Pig On Beale and told the guy out front that we wanted dinner and a few drinks. The guy out front opened the door for us and said you guys feel free to sit where ever you like. I've never seen a business make it so hard for you to spend money there. Rum Boogie Cafe will never see one single dollar of my hard earned money now.

Great place to pop in for live music (with cover fee the night we went). Special cocktails we had were too sweet for my tastes (but ok to try once). This place has a door that connects to a different smaller bar "Blues Hall" next door (with no restroom) that is also great for live music and way better for dancing :)

Ambience and wait staff was great; however, gumbo was bland, the philly cheese steak in the aforementioned salad was lukewarm, and the burgers were average. Our recommendation is to look elsewhere for food.

Overpriced, small dishes in respect to similar places. Service was slow and not very hospitable. The band was good, but note that they charge 5$ per person when the live band starts. They also offer a 3-4% discount if you pay cash. Overall would not try again.

I had a blast there. Between 2002 and 2007 I played there for the Zydeco festival. The food was great and the sound crew always took care of us. I will go back next time I go to Memphis.

Loved the music themed decor, service was so-so(slow and not enough waiters) The catfish was very delish!!! But our drinks were disappointing, I had a rum drink(Mai Tai) and I could BARELY tasted the rum :( my Sister ordered a 'glass' of wine and they bought it to her in a little cheap PLASTIC drinking cup, ruined her dining experience for her! We asked they said they were out of wine glasses?! How about serving in a REAL glass?

Ok

Great food, good service, entertainment was on the plus side... total Bill was $70 ... I tried to go back in and they wanted me to pay again to get back in ... all u wanted to do is check out Beale Street, then go back to Rum Boogie ... the gal says we don't have hand stamps to re-enter... I've been coming here for years and it's a first for me.

I missed something that everyone is got. Customer service and quality. 3 appetizers took about 30 min and came out cold.

The award winning gumbo was cold flavorless glue in a bowl. ($14)

The red beans and rice was 90% old rice and cold. ($9)

The special fried green tomatoes were flavorless and cold. ($13?)

The beer is warm.

You pay a $2 cover to listen to two competing bands, depending where you're sitting.

I get that it's a tourist trap. It just feels like they don't care about their customers and we're just a nuisance.

Would you pay $36 for the food in my pictures? Or $64 for the entire experience?
