I can sum up this business in two words; extremely dishonest.
They were the lender for the people that bought our house. Our buyer, us, and the people we were buying from all made plans based on a timeline this company provided. Turns out they had identified the home we were selling in the wrong county which pretty much blew up the loan they had planed. Instead of owning up to it they simply flat out lied and came up with a story about how they found out some things about the buyer that made them have to go with another loan option that required more criteria.
We had moved out of our house, we re staying in a hotel in another state 1,000 miles away, had everything we owned in a u/haul truck we had and a moving truck we hired, and spent a week of uncertainty if our house would sell or we d have to put it back on the market! Horrible, horrible week! We thought we d have to find a place to rent and keep making payments on our place and loose our earnest money on the house we were trying to buy (not to mention having to find another place to buy and pay more interest as my rate lock would expire).
I really should post the DM string I had with Eric and the flat out lies he told. A complete dirt bag.
Their dishonesty costs all involved weeks of delay and, in our case, a couple thousand in increased expense.
I can t stress enough that you should stay away from this business.

Not very competent folks. One delay after the next. They say they will do something then never do it; this happened throughout the whole process. They need constant bothering and constant pressure to get things done. Couldn't be more unhappy. I almost lost the house due to their lack of motion. We ended up having to contact this company's upper management just to make ANYTHING happen. Stay away from this dysfunctional company. Then at the end of it all, after all the screw ups on Root Mortgage s side, there was no apology or anything from the branch manager, Scott.
