Excellent library and visit. 30.dollars for admission is a little high. Admission ticket states vatican. They did have a vatican section, not very impressive. Most of the admission money goes to Catholic Church. Should offer a ticket .just to the Reagan library minus the Vatican exhibit.

Visited whilst on business from UK and must admit it was a great exhibition of his life and the way they lead you on his journey is very touching. The Air Force One plane was great but even his suit that he was shot in was particularly surreal. The views are out of this world, and no wonder he wanted to be laid to rest there. Well done Simi Valley.
I have only been to two, but I would have to assume this is the most family-friendly of Presidential Libraries. There is Air Force One displayed in a magnificent setting, and you can board and tour it. There is a pretend-presidential podium you can take great photos while standing in. There is a mock-up of the Oval Office that looks very authentic, and there is a repro of the Berlin Wall complete with holes and tunnels that your little ones can crawl through if they are so inclined. There are stirring videos, memorable quotes, glancing summaries of Ronald Reagan's life and times, and an enormous amount of focus on the time he survided an assination attempt by John Hinckley. Nancy's dresses and gowns are devine. A video about communism-and-the-second-half-of-the-20th-Century is terrifying. AIDS is not mentioned anywhere, an omission faithful to the man's legacy of total inaction in the face of that particular crisis. The Library is dedicated to promoting the myth of Reagan. Fans of Reagan will love this place, but critics of his life and legacy should visit here also - not to become fans, but to gain a better understanding of the symbol that is Ronald Reagan. You'll have to get your understanding of the man from a different resource.
This is my second time. The first time was great. This time was disappointing as I brought someone from Florida who was so looking forward to seeing the Library. The problem with today...a weekday...was there was an over abundance with kids on a field trip visiting. The Staff was rude to us as one of the fellow staffers asked him if this couple could pass through the student crowd...the response from the staffer was...GOOD LUCK!! I promote kids visiting but the staff just roads over any lingering people...we did not enjoy the library the way we should have...the only peace we got was to enjoy lunch out overlooking Simi Valley. My advice to those visiting during school visits...DON'T!!
And...the staffers attack you at the front entrance to sell upscale donations. I never had this at Bush's Libraries...it's annoying. So my first experience was great as is why I recommended someone fly across the country to see it...I will not make that mistake again.
My first Presitentail library to visit, I found it fascinating, insightful and very peaceful. If you're looking for entertainment or amusement you'd be better off at Disneyland. If you're interested in broadening your knowledge of global events and uncovering interesting details about President Reagan and those connected to him you most certainly won't be disappointed. Very well worth my time!
It's situated on top of a hill in Simi Valley that provides panoramic vistas of the surrounding countryside. The displays are educational and there something to learn for kids and adults alike. They also have various rotating exhibits (most of which charge a fee) but the one around Christmas time is certainly a delight for the kids. Besides the displays and exhibits, the whole venue is relaxing and beautiful- it's a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the city. If you live in the area it's welll worth getting a membership (plus it's tax deductible). The entire staff there is especially friendly and helpful. We love this place.
A great museum with fairly bipartisan appeal. The exhibits that come through are especially interesting, but just coming to see the library itself (and Air Force one) is always fun.
Best experience! Plan on a long stay to read, watch and listen to all that it offers. 6 hours at least to absorb it all! A tribute to a great man in a turbulat time, especially internationally. A must see destination.
The massive special exhibit wing is the main reason to come back. Presently the sunken Egypt exhibit is open.
This is a very large presidential museum. All one sided pro Reagan as expected. You see an introductory video, his years as governor of California, his election as president, assassination attempt, oval office, many rooms going over what he did as president, and then the post presidency years. There is a massive side wing which holds the 747 Air Force One exhibit with a list of all his travels, presidential motorcade, and helicopter. A pub with snacks is also located here.
The Cafe and museum store are located near the entrance. Quite a selection in the cafe, including gluten free options.
The presidential museums are excellent. They are designed to tell the story of the person who became president, and how their life impacted and intersected with history. Seeing Airforce One and Marine One was a highlight. It took us 4 hours to go through the museum. We could have easily spent 6. Highly recommended!
Such an amazing place to visit. Knowing the history behind one of the country's finest leaders. Beautiful replica of the oval office and actual Air Force One used by president Reagan.
Amazing Museum/ Library, stunning views. Great way to spent your day.
This is one of the most important museums regarding United States History and Culture. Great exhibits and friendly staff.
We came here recently with the family for another trip to the museum. My father wanted to see the Nile exhibit. Artifacts recovered from the bottom of the river. Really amazing artifacts on display.
The rotating exhibits are always cool but personally I like the various Regan items. If you have never been definitely also check out the Air Force one plane and the HMX helicopter display. You can go inside and check it out.
Really amazing museum and so important to our presidential history
We loved it! We have always loved Ronald Reagan and the values that he stood for. This beautiful museum is an amazing tribute to Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy. His love for God, his wife, and fellow Americans is an inspiration. There was so much more to learn about this incredible man than we thought we already knew. Ronald Reagan's Air Force One plane (which can be walked through) is inside a glass wall building overlooking the valley. A beautiful setting on a hilltop with amazing panoramic views of Simi Valley. Highly recommended!
We were really pleasantly surprised by this place. He's by far my favorite president for his charm and diplomacy so an added bonus. A really great and interesting day out.
A fitting memorial to the president. Only thing missing seemed to be his first wife and any mention of the Ollie North scandal. We may not all be proud of our past, but it's still history.
Great experience walking through the Library. The place has plenty of photos, document, films, and artifacts that show a timeline of President Reagan's life and accomplishments. The Library features great views of the surrounding landscape, the real Air Force One that Reagan and several other presidents flew in, he and Nancy's graves, and even a piece of the Berlin Wall. I highly recommend people go to this place.
I always wanted to go to the Ronald Reagan Library and it is a must-see on everyone's bucket list. It was very exciting and provided in vivid detail both visually and audibly that's fun for the whole entire family including kids. They have many activities that are family-related including a scientific Museum of the 1980s and its products they have historic images of Reagan his clothing, his family background, and everything else you could imagine. It was better than I expected and I can't wait to go back again. In addition the scenery in the mountains are breathtaking and you need to take plenty of pictures and spend several hours there to absorb the totality of the scenery and atmosphere.
In addition you get to walk on Air Force One, which President Reagan traveled on numerous times and see vehicles of the Secret Service, that protected him and even the helicopter they traveled in seldomly around the California area.
The Ronald Reagan Museum is one of the best places in the United States. I cherished my visit and can't wait to return again. God bless Ronald Reagan for his goals and commanding our great nation for eight wonderful years. Again this is a must-see for every American to understand how important he was to our country , history, and more specifically our freedom.... which is never free.
fun and entertaining place to go with the kids, to learn only the good things about our economic lord and savior, Ronald Reagan. If you want to learn about his first wife, sucks to be you, the library says She doesn't exist. fun for the super Republicans anywhere.
This is by far one of the best museum's I have ever been to. The staff are so friendly, and the exhibits are amazing! The views of the valley are also stunning.
Completely satisfied visiting this WONDERFUL PLACE. FULL OF HISTORY! BROUGHT ME BACK IN TIME! POMPEII EXHIBIT WAS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE! 2000 YEAR OLD ARTIFACTS AND HUMAN CAST FROM VESUVIUS ERUPTION. FROM CENTURY 1
Air force one was very interesting, the rest was very not hands on. There is no touching allowed on anything. I suggest this place for older people who can appreciate the history of the time of President Ronald Reagan. Admission was very expensive.
We knew we weren't gonna make it by closing at 5 pm. We arrived and the parking lot was emptying. We started walking around and found our way to the gift shop and the site of Interment for both the President and Nancy. The view in the back is phenomenal of Simi Valley. One hour later we made our way down the canyon. Obviously it would have been nice to go in but we were pleasantly surprised at what we were able to see at no cost and no crowds.
Quite possibly the finest 20th century President, the Ronald Reagan Library is worth the visit for critics and admirers alike. A master stroke of museum presentation you will follow the former President through his earlier years through his terms as governor and all the way to the Oval Office and the pivotal decisions that brought an end to the Cold War. The old Air Force one is also there and he walkthrough is worth the long line. Views outside overlooking the valley are stunning. Marine One is also there (but spoiler, it s actually Lyndon Johnson s). A fantastic gift store rounds out a gripping experience and great fun for political buffs and passive tourists alike.
First off, the parking is ridiculous. They have a tiny little lot that is always full and you have to park on the street and then walk a mile straight uphill. There is a shuttle, but we waited for ages and it never came. The admission price was decent $21 adult/ $10 child but then everything inside is an extra fee. They take your photo on the president's airplane ( which is pretty cool) but then it costs $25 buy that photo. One club sandwich and a kids chicken tenders for lunch = $31! Then we couldn't bring our leftovers in to the rest of the exhibit, so I asked if they have lockers....I was told to put it in my car!!!!! If I make the 20 minute trek back to my car, I'm leaving! So we threw away our overpriced lunch and continued on because my son wanted to see the Interactive exhibit. It was the commercial for this (showing kids playing virtual reality games) that is the main reason we came here. Surprise! Extra fee- $10 for 8 mins and it was almost sold out, so we got a late time slot and literally had to sit around for an hour when we were done with the museum waiting for this. The museum is ok for Regan fans, but not great for kids.
Volunteers are SUPER friendly. Food is great (a bit pricey though). Gift shop is reasonably priced. This is a pretty good museum. They do a great job explaining Reagans life. The air force one exhibit is a must see.
We went without any expectations and it was great. The layout of the viewing areas were well thought out. The visit followed nicely. The dosetens and volunteers were very helpful and friendly. There was plenty of parking.
Overall I had a great time and found the experience very educational. I deduct a star because at the end, when I was purchasing a book on my way out, the cashier (Cashier 242), was rude and put a damper on the very end of my visit. Everyone else was kind, helpful, and knowledgeable.
This place is awesome. It's a a little bit of a drive if you're coming from anywhere in LA area since it is situated in Simi Valley. However, this drive is worth it since it is a great way to spend a day exploring the library and rest of the property.
Outstanding experience. Beautiful facilities, very friendly staff.
I had multiple moments where my eyes got dusty. As a child/teen growing up during the Reagan era, I was reminded of many events I was able to witness due to President Reagan and his leadership.
I remember being in middle school during his assassination attempt. I remember how it seemed like the whole country paused while waiting to hear if he was going to live.
What struck me most were the quotes from President Reagan written on the walls throughout the library. All of them are good lessons for our politicians now, here in 2020.
Reagan had the ability to stick to his values and do what he thought was best for the country, and do it in such a way that friend or foe alike still respected him.
What a great man. What he did for our country was priceless.
BTW - even my 6 and 10 year old kids LOVED the library, especially Air Force One. My 10 year old daughter got into the history and stories so much we all talked American history on the way home.
Regardless your political affiliation - check this place out. We've all something to learn from President Reagan.
A great mix of presidential history and artifacts from the exhibits in the museum to Air Force One, the presidential motorcade, and Marine One. Also the visiting Titanic exhibit was neat.
I ve had the pleasure of visiting all of the presidential libraries under the US National Archives and Reagan s is by far the most breathtaking of them all. The views of Simi Valley are incredible and the privacy of the library can be very relaxing on a nice Summer day. I would visit again, bring a book and camp out on a bench just enjoying all that Mother Nature has to offer.
I was surprised by how enjoyable my visit turned out to be. Don t miss out exploring the Air Force One and Marine One. The site itself was located on top of the hill and it was very beautiful, thankful that it s spared from the recent fire. There s also a smaller temporary exhibition that s included in the entry fee, it s normally a high-profiled one and also worth checking out.
Give it about 3-4 hours for both exhibits (it s bigger than I thought!), or even more if you plan to eat at the cafe as well (the scenery is very nice). I only had 2.5 hours to spend there and pretty much had to rush through it.
Pretty grand place. They have the old Air Force One in the building and you can go in inside to get a closer look. Nice scenery and great presentation of Reagan's works, accomplishments and achievements .
Beautiful grounds, kind and helpful staff. The Egyptian exhibit was very well staged. The recreation of the Oval Office exceeded expectations and getting to be in Air Force One was eye opening.
Had a wonderful time here.. Maybe the best thing about California is Reagan's dream of America as more than just a place. The high promise of America as an idea is something I will cherish forever. Thank you. -Ethan
Wonderful exhibits;(although it certainly overly glorifies the Reagan administration) all exhibits were well displayed and placarded well. The best feature of the visit is definitely the older B707 Air Force One and older Marine One. That was a treat! The docents and staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly. The library is well maintained and all restrooms are very clean. The Reagan Cafe deserves a highlight. There are a good variety of choices and the prices are reasonable; but, the commendation goes to staff member, Eileen. Eileen is what is missing in today's customer service. As others just go through the motion of service, Eileen embraces it and goes beyond just making you feel like a customer. The welcoming smile and enjoyable banter doesn't take much effort or time but it sure makes an incredible impression. KUDOS to Eileen!
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library was one of the most amazing and enlightening experiences of my entire life. I know that sounds like a bit much, but it's one of those things you have to experience for yourself. My wife and I absolutely loved this place! And it wasn't what either of us expected. We walked in expecting just another museum, but it was so much more than that! It was a reverant display of the powerful legacy of one who lived a life of integrity, honesty, confidence, humility, authenticity, and love. My wife and I were moved to tears many times due to the genuine and weighty atmosphere that this place carried. But overall, my favorite part was the education. We didn't know much about Reagan's life and presidency, but we left informed and were imparted with a greater measure of wisdom. It was a delight to learn about th world during his presidency. But the one thing that made the greatest impact was seeing a beam from the World Trade Center. This was painful to see and was a reminder of what that terrible day, causing me to be a little more grateful to be alive. And to end it all are the views all around the place. Excellent vistas! This place is truly a must see, no matter your political affiliations.
The star is not for the library itself it's more for one of the staff there by the last name Miller. Went on field trip, got to do activities of role playing but this staff member was very inpatient with the kids and rude. Blaming one in front of everyone for not operating the iPad right when in fact, it was the libraries fault, it wasn't working correctly, little girl started crying because this bully scolded her pretty bad, she apologized afterwards but it was too late. There's more but I'll leave it at that. Otherwise, awsome library, love Reagan and all of the history there!!!
At first the price seemed to be a little high, but by the end I think I would have paid double what they asked for. My husband and I planned on being there only a couple hours, but we ended up staying the entire day. Fabulous museum. This library would make any president proud.
I visited here back in 2007 and a life long Reagan fan. But will not step one foot inside as long as publisher and CEO of the Washington Post running the library! Reagan would be rolling in his grave!
'Tho' i've only been to 5, this is the only presidential library i know of that has an entire room dedicated to his relating to the average American!
The museum staff is perfection personified; exceedingly well trained, not just at their own post, but of the entire museum, library, & especially their fellow staff-members.
I'm a reporter who covered Reagan while in office; until i went there i tho't i was the only 1 who knew particular trivia; I was wrong!
The exhibit regarding the attempted assassinaction is spell-binding... I felt as tho' i was standing right next to Hinckly... utterly amazing!
I came there to see a special exhibit on Genghis Kahn. There was no way to bypass the 60+ rooms (3 floors) on Ronald's life. As I had to wend my way through the exhibit, room after room, it was literally an epic Hollywood production starring Ronald as "America's Greatest President." It went overboard portraying him as the hero who saved America, which is more fiction than reality.
What an awesome place! Very inspirational to see how this great President and wonderful human being lived and worked. I would have loved to meet him and give him a big hug. The World is a better place because of this man. See you in the afterlife Mr. President!
If you pay attention to the negative reviews, they are all very clearly politically motivated and do not give an accurate picture of the library. So, let me try to give an objective review: (1) The locations is spectacular, w/a marvelous view of Simi Valley high above the rolling heals. (2) The grounds are peaceful, quite, relaxing, very "presidential". (3) The architecture and exhibits are world class. (4) A fully furnished oval office is recreated full scale. (5) You can walk through Air Force One and Marine One, see Reagan's limo, etc. (6) There are detailed and interactive displays from Reagan's childhood, acting career (props and costumes), governorship, and presidency. (7) There are gifts from all over the world from various leaders and dignitaries on display. (8) There is also part of the Berlin Wall, the collapsed World Trade Center, Reagan's grave, etc. (9) Often, there are temporary exhibits of great interest. Recent exhibits have included cars from the Peterson Automotive Museum, artifacts from George Washington, etc. etc. (10) Tour guides and volunteers are knowledgeable and friendly (11) Admission is very reasonable. The Reagan Library is a must see if you are in this area.
Amazing day walking through history! We saw Dennis Prager and Mark Joseph speak and they were so on point...He is my 2nd favorite Jewish guy Dennis Prager.
