This is a clean facility that has programs almost any time of day. They have pilates, yoga, cycling, zumba, swimming and more. The price is a good value and you will feel great after working out.

Showers and pool temp are always too cold. Comments made to staff over the years and their response "maybe one day they will fix it". This has been an issue to my knowledge over 6 yrs. I also think membership fee are high and not worth it. Wish there was a weekend pass since week days are hard for many working parents with kids into sports and other activities. Unless you have babies and take advantage of childcare, you can find cheaper places to work out. They also took away lounge, so those snow days when i took kids (found a loop hole on fees...kids memberships are cheaper) i had to sit in freezing lobby while trying to work remote while kids used gym. Also, gym space is limited and you have to contend with the day care using gym space.
Out of all the YMCAs that I've been to this is my least favorite. It has an odd lay out, the gym has an odd lay out as well and for some reason couches. The gym has never looked clean. The pool is small and also never looks clean. The locker rooms are just gross. I can say with all certainty that after my daughter is done with her overpriced swim lessons that we wont be back to this location. This place just screams "aged"
We love this Y. Our daughters love their children's classes (gymnastics and swimming). Their pool seems to be almost always open, so it's easy to fit into our schedule. They've also got an outdoor track and playground.
This is one of the best YMCA s around. It is truly a world class facility with 4 pools, including a kids area, two gymnasiums, weight rooms, work out areas and a general fitness area with dozens of TV s. The individual class rooms, baby sitting and day care really make it much more like a private facility with much more. Can t say enough about the benefits.
Very convenient, good location. The only thing I suggest is increasing the water temperature in the pool. My son was shivering the other day during his class.
Anyone considering joining this gym or supporting them financially should continue reading my review. I have just left Rocky Run YMCA after being a member for almost two years. While overall my experience was positive throughout that timeframe, It ended so badly.
The biggest problem I had with this gym was with someone in upper management. It all started when I overheard her use a homophobic slur. It was shocking for me to hear it since one of the reasons I was so proud to belong to this gym was because I thought it was there to serve the community. I had assumed that they hired staff that had sensitivity training.
Secondly, this gym does not have a team that demonstrates they have had training in interacting with people that have experienced trauma. The same staff member I spoke about before got too close to me during a class, and when I asked her to step away from me because I was uncomfortable, she continued to get closer and invade my space. I had to ask her repeatedly to step away from me until she threatened to revoke my membership and call the police to escort me out. She told me I did not know who she was and what she could do to me and reminded me that this was her gym. I still am shocked by it all even while typing this review and don't understand how still has a job there where she interacts with the public every day. I was able to talk to her superiors, but I did not feel supported. They told me it was a learning moment for them, but overall they acted like they didn't want to take a side. It was very frustrating to me because I left feeling supported, and felt like I would never be able to feel comfortable in that gym again.
Furthermore, I have seen and experienced a yoga instructor that has touched members without asking for permission. Now that may not seem like a big deal to the average person, but for people that have experienced trauma, it is very upsetting.
Overall, I started to see that the YMCA seriously needs to train some of their staff on how to deal with the general public and also work on customer service. After switching, I can see the "too big to fail" mentality of leadership. I am excited to work with a different gym that is competitive and helps support me in reaching my fitness goals. There are still a few great people there. I have instructors and gym friends that I miss terribly; It's a shame that this happened. I hope no one has to go through the experience I did at Rocky Run YMCA.
Love this Y me and my kids love to have family time here. The lifeguards are very hands on and most are friendly and enjoy having fun with the families. I enjoy coming back to this Y even though it isnt close to where I live.
I absolutely adore the day care. The CDC is wonderful. The sports programs on the other hand are horrendous. I've been told I can go play with my kid b/c too few kids showed up and they won't teach if only 2 kids are there. I've been told that even with a 3:1 ratio of students to teachers that they can't hold their attention, and that they tried but there is nothing they can do about it. I find the gym teachers to be fairly lazy and ineffective. They cannot hold the students' attention and have no presence. The CDC I would have ranked 5+ stars, the sports programs would be in the negative.
Great environment for families. Classes have great and knowledgeable instructors, equipment is in great shape and pool area is clean and supervised at all times.
The gym space is really big, the indoor track and outdoor track. The kidz zone is wonderfully. My kids enjoying to the kidz zone. A great variety of activites for kids and adults. The ymca is very clean.
Awesome place! The kids love the swimming pool. The staff is always helpful and friendly. My son has autism and we've never had any issues with the staff being disrespectful.
A good hike, great weather. Sad to see the booms there placed by the Mariners pipeline workers.....but "they are confident that there will be no leaks from the oil line".
Customer service is great. But there are too many young kids running around on the fitness floor. They hop from machine to machine and are loud. They play on equipment.
Well run and efficient YMCA. Great children's programs and great senior accommodations as well as the usual gyms and pools they are known for. Plenty of parking and easy access.
My first time here and I love it. The staff so friendly, kind, knowledgeable, and the building itself is so welcoming. It's like a going to a 5 star hotel / gym. If you come one time your gonna become a member
Great place with many great programs. The gym has an awesome selection of equipment, there are lots of classes to choose from, and overall lots of opportunities here. Speaking from the viewing of both a customer and an employee, this Y really is a wonderful place.
I took my three-year-old son to the Rocky Run YMCA yesterday and was refused by an older lady at the front desk, after she asked what we would do at the YMCA and I answered "my son will swim".
She said that according to the policy I am not allowed to enter the swimming pool with my son with his Youth membership ($26 per month), except when he is attending the swimming lessons.
I understand that and said that I will only watch him play in the water in the shallow area and will not go into the pool, she still refused us in. So my son and I returned home.
What most frustrated me is not my being refused in the pool (I know the lady is just trying to follow the policy), but:
1. Is the policy really that the guardian is not allowed to enter the swimming pool with his/her little one's Youth membership?
For two- or three-year-old kids, they need their parent with them at all times, whether in the pool or in the gym.
If your policy says that the guardian is not allowed to enter the pool to accompany a child with a Youth membership, it should be implemented consistently and should NOT treat people differently.
However, the truth is that I know a number of families who also have only the Youth membership for their children but have never been asked not to enter the pool before, regardless of being refused to enter the gym. Actually my two friends with a Youth membership went to the pool with their kids so frequently that their kids have learned how to swim during the past two months.
2. What are the benefits of the Youth membership for a two- or three-year-old child?
Are the only benefits to register for the classes?
Are they allowed to play in the kid's area in addition to that?
Even though I explained to the lady at the front desk that I will only watch my son play in the water in the shallow area or play in the kids area and will not enter the pool, she still refused us in.
I am not sure whether this is because she did not really understand me (my spoken English is heavily accented), or she meant to do so. Anyway, my son was refused any service yesterday, although he has a Youth membership ($26 per month). We felt so frustrated and upset while I drove home about 20 mins' drive away. The whole day was ruined.
We have only been able to visit Rocky Run YMCA a couple of times since this February due to my busy work schedule.
This better than the one in havertown because the pool is bigger and the staff is respectful, clean bathrooms, big pool, big workout stations just everyone I love than the on in havertown.
Huge complex! Elleen Stryd the Power Pilates instructor is the best part of this organization giving way more then just a class but life coaching as well
