Every single staff member was nice, friendly and helpful which is rare to come by. Very clean and well kept. We stayed in the Oklahoma suites. The kids loved the bunkbeds. Endless things to do. 2 hours into our stay my husband stated we will definetely be coming back. I noticed while we were in the pool the lifeguards were so attentive! Always moving, looking. One lifeguard noticed out of the corner of her eye my son went down the wrong way on the water slide and ever so nicely said "hey buddy make sure you go down the right way" . Cannot say enough positive things !!

Fun for the under 12 crowd. Expensive so surprised the quality of some food was low. Dinner was atrocious. Iceberg lettuce with tasteless greasy dressing. Cream of mushroom soup? What kid eats that. Appetizers spinach pie and something else inedible. Breakfast is decent. Salad bar at lunch is good. Need to consider having at dinner as well. The dinner food seemed like at was cooked at 10am. First day lunch was horrible. Disgusting Tuna on iceberg lettuce. Burgers cooked 2 hours prior. Need to up their game with the freshness of some food. Afternoon cocktail hour food was much better than anything else. At least the food seems fresh.
This place is horrible. Do not believe what they advertise on their website. There are no activities at the resort. At first, I thought there were going to be an abundance of activities, my expectations were high, but once I stepped foot into the building, it was a huge dissapointment. I am never coming back there. I went solo and I paid a whopping $1,200 for a one night stay. The food is horrible. I decided to just not eat breakfast that day.
Rooms are clean, food is really good, and lots of activities. A couple of the riding staff are unpleasant on how they correct you. Horses are amazing and know their jobs. Happily will make plans to come up again.
Spent a three day weekend at this wonderful family resort. Fantastic friendly and helpful staff we're always available to meet all our needs. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Food was A Step Above what we were expecting and options to keep the kids happy we're always available. The facilities were all you could expect from the summer camps of our youth and then some. There were even activities for Grandma! Highly recommend for family vacation!
Amazing place for first time horse riders! The horses are well trained and disciplined. It is a fun place for everyone in the family. Food is amazing specially the dinners!
The resort and the ranch have SOOO much to do and it'll be an amazing vacation for you and your family. I went here this week for a school field trip and this was the most fun I had so far this year! I totally recommend this place.
This the second time at rocking horse ranch now we came with my daughter and my grand kids. food was excellent the staff always ready to help you if you need anything. Our Waitress Dolly was Excellent she was a Pleasure to have at our Table. all the servers are Great and Helpful. Great Vacation place. why travel to another country when when you can have A Great Vacation right here in the old Great U.S.A. GOD BLESS Everyone. Rocking Horse Ranch Best Place For The Family. MANNY AND ROSA.
We go annually with my husband s family. Steve Turk is the owner and he is very friendly. He always remembers us from previous years. Facilities are amazing! We have such a fun time when we visit. My kids love the pools with the water slides. The food is really good too! You can order as much as you want. You will gain weight after eating there all weekend! Totally worth it! The wait staff is over accommodating to anything you need- picky eaters, allergies, special requests, etc. You get to ride horses every day and they have pony rides for the little ones. They are doing a huge renovation for next year and we can t wait to go back and see the new place! We already booked next summers trip!
We were there as guests for a company function. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. The activities for the kids were abundant and the water slides/play area were very well watched.
Definitely something for everyone here, and the staff goes out of their way to make sure you have a good experience! Also, they make great efforts to provide for special dietary needs.
My family and are close friends go every year in October it s the best place!!!! First of all I love there food, the dining room, shows, horses, waterpark, and all the outdoor stuff!!! The staff is super sweet and helpful! There haunted house a blast . Congratulations about the new mule!!!! I love lulu belle! We are coming here next year too! So try to find us
I cannot say enough great things about Rocking Horse Ranch! My family and I stayed here for 3 days beginning August 2019, and we were blown away by the blend of activities, hospitality, great food and friendly staff. Highly recommend this as a "staycation" style trip for folks in NYC area. They have winter activities too, so the fun extends beyond just warm weather season. We are looking forward to our next trip already.
Low key family resort, RHR feels small and intimate but still has many activities. I took my nephew from Fri - Sun in March, right after a snow blizzard and most of the outdoor stuff (swimming pool, lake, tennis, volleyball, playgrounds) was closed. By day 3 we were already getting bored and felt like we did it all. Our favorite activities were the snow tubing and the indoor water slide (surprisingly large). The food was good and if you don t expect too much you ll be pleasantly surprised by the quality and selection. Had delicious BBQ Ribs for dinner the first night, and pretty average lamb chops the second night. Rooms were Large and comfy, the beds are great but the shower heads definitely need to be upgraded and the TV's are kind of small. The resorts has many horses of course but unfortunately riding them was the least fun activity of the trip. The horses are beautiful and well taken care of, the first day you arrive you can only get on the "Stand by" lines riding, meaning that a spot isn't guaranteed if there are too many people in the resort. Then at 4pm the first day (after all the rides are done for the day) you can register and save yourself a "spot" for your remaining days. You can only have 1 spot per day but because we were there in the winter the stand by lines were usually a sure thing. When you go to ride, they have 3 different levels. Beginner, Intermediate and Advance. 90% of the guests at the resort (mostly children) go with beginner, however even going on the intermediate and advance feel like a beginner because AT NO POINT do you have any kind of independence with your horse. In this resort you will ALWAYS be following the horse in front of you and doing exactly as the guide is doing. You will only trot when they trot, you will stop when they stop, trying to control the horse is an act in futility because they are so use to doing the same exact thing day after day they ignore you most of the time. Feels a little like you're riding robot horses. And the worst part is that the staff guiding the horses is so paranoid about everyone doing exactly what they say all the time that they project this anxiety to the riders and the horses and make the experience a lot less fun than it could be. So all in all, it s a fine resort, the horses were no fun and the price is a little high for what they provide. I would only return if the price was 30% lower.
We love The Rocking Horse Ranch. Our first visit was my own family. The next visit was with a second family. And our third visit was with a third family. Only one bad thing...the candles that were always burning, creating that oh so familiar scent has stopped. Everyone on our last trip said it immediately upon walking through the front door. Please bring back the scented candles at the Rocking Horse Ranch!!!
Excellent again. Acoustic dampening between the rooms is its weakness. The rest of the place is excellent. 5 stars, less 1 for room noise, plus one for staff, gets 5.
Just visited this past weekend with my husband & three children ages 34 month old, 9yr and 7yr and it was perfect for their specific age range. Indoor pools had two sections one section had three water slides that were perfect for smaller children and one water slide for older children. They also had, mini bowling, arcade, mountain tubing, a dome with a jumpy house and a nerf activity center. The nightly entertainment consisted of a musical performance and a magic show which was suitable for all ages. Food was as expected, food service exceeded expectations our waiter Chris was personable and friendly. The only downfall is that most of the appealing activities are outdoors which we did not get to experience due to rain everyday that we were there. But overall great trip!
I went to Rocking Horse Ranch and had a great time. I did Archery, I rode horses, danced, went swimming and more. I like the rooms and the service was magnificent! For a family vacation it is worth being there because your children will have a lot to do. The price was very reasonable and affordable for all our family members.
My family and I just returned from a 2 night stay and had a fantastic time! There were lots of activities for the kids! The hotel grounds and rooms were well kept; and service was terrific! The breakfast and lunch buffets were delicious and there were plenty of options. If you are considering a trip here, I would highly recommend this place!
I have one major complaint....I didnt know of this place years ago.....it was one of our best vacations ever. Cant say enough good things about it. Have already sent friends there. We will definately be back!!
We stayed in room 247 and had a great time with extended family for a 2 night stay. There were plenty of activities for the kids and adults as well. Food was decent, some hit or miss but overall better than expected.
We stayed two nights 12/24, 12/25 in 2018. So you know, that was during Christmas when their rates are highest of the year. For the price I paid and what I experienced, I was disappointed. First day we arrived around 1pm. Unlike the reviews I read before, I was not greeted by the receptionists. There were three ladies at front desk, there was only two guests before me. It was not busy at all. The ladies briefly asked my check in information, while we were talking, no eye contact or smile. Maybe they were not happy about working on Christmas Eve? Our 8 year old son was excited to be that place, because of the holiday atmosphere and all the kids activities at his first sight. Around 3pm, we went to the pool together. The pool was compact size for younger children, of course, no diving or jumping should be allowed. An accident happened to my son in the pool. When he was close to the deck, a kid jumped into water and hit my son s forehead. When my son climbed up and walked to me crying, the red bump on his forehead stated to swelling quickly. The lifeguard, who was apparently a student worker hired temporarily, didn t receive good training. He didn t know what to do, whom to call. He looked at us, walked away, made a phone call, then walked to us in 5 minutes and told us a medical helper was in the middle of another accident, he will come as soon as he finishes. When I asked if he can give us an ice pack, he just said I don t have it, no other instructions. While we talked, my son was screaming, the bump was big and blue. I asked reception desk if I can have an ice pack, the answer was same we don t have it . 30 minutes later, the medical came, he gave us a zipper bag wrapped ice cubes. I put that over the wound, it didn t help much as it was swelled for 30 minutes already. We got Tylenol for pain relief. I was angry and disappointed. For the money I paid, I could not even get an ice pack for emergency. No excuses for this children s vacation place does not have emergency aids, like basic needs for once pack. Not to mention the employees indifferent attitude when I asked for help. There was no clear warning by the pool to prohibit jumping, diving. After my son s accident, I saw other kids jump, the lifeguard gave a whistle but he didn t attempt to stop that behavior. Rocking horse ranch, when you read my review, please take your responsibility to manage your lifeguards and safety for your guests. Serious issues can come to you.
Focused around a core of horseback trail riding, there are a lot of other family type activities. Very well maintained, organised, and staffed. All inclusive resort. No lines, at least in the corner season when we visited. Professional staff, with several folks who are clearly proud of providing superlative service.
Amazing place! Have been there in the winter, this was first time in the summer, and it was non-stop fun. Staff is wonderful, treat you like family, and you can feel that it is genuine. Will be there again this winter, cant wait!!!
Wonderful experience. Beautiful views. Great for kids. A lot to do thru out the day for both kids and adults. VERY clean. All staff very nice. Food great. Would go back.
Oh My gosh it was amazing and I loved it there It was the best place ever i would sure love to go there again some day and the best part of it was geting to ride the horses my 1st hose was crazy and my 2nd horse was lazy but i loved them both! and the 2nd best part was the water slide my cousin was too scared to go but i was brave i would totally recomend this to anyone who loves horses or someone who just wants to have fun its an amzing place and i am sure you all would love it!
Great experience. So much to do. Horse riding, tubing, skiing, swimming, great food. What a great time for the whole family. We have 4 generations of our family enjoying the weekend.
Perfect little gem for young children. Excellent stay. Staff very friendly and many. Fun stuff to do everywhere and all in close proximity. Your kids will learn to ski, ice skate and horse back ride. Will be back.
I very much enjoyed my stay here! Its a little bit pricier than other places but it is worth it. Most of activities are geared towards kids which was great. They have so many things gs going on from horseback riding to skiing to karaoke! I especially want to make mention of the restaurant manager Mike. He was awesome, he was funny and engaging and professional. The only very only reason I won't give it 5 stars is I wish the "indoor water park" was bigger. Having been to great Wolfe lodge before I have become accustomed to that kind off indoor water park', however rocking horse ranch does offer a lot more activities than gwl. All in all great stay, would definitely come back.
Overall, the food and service was great, but their activites were, well limited. Often than not, me and my party of peeps were bored and spent most of the time playing our phones or playing board games. I also think the should make indoor sport fields, such as tennis courts and basketball courts. The rooms were also spacious and nice.
The rocking horse ranch is great, my 2-yr old loved it. The staff is outstanding. EJ the pony-horse guide was the best. It may seem a bit expensive at the outset but when you consider everything you get its really a value. The only critique would be the rooms are noisy, but my 2-yr old had no trouble sleeping. Its an outstanding family vacation.
Spacious rooms, generous meal portions and lots of fun activities for both those who like outdoor activities (tubing down a mountain, horseback riding) and those who don't (indoor pool, karaoke, music trivia, bingo). Highly recommended.
So much family fun! We had a great stay - friendly, helpful staff, great (and plentiful!) food and entertainment and LOTS to do, or nothing at all if you prefer to relax in one of the many lounge areas. The spa services are a great extra - be sure to take full advantage! We were impressed from the minute we arrived and can t wait to go back!
Amazing friendly service. This is a place to bring the family with kids. Very clean. Small ball bowling alley is great. Water park, pool. Horse back riding. Customer service is absolutely 110% top notch.
This was 2nd time here in two years. They added nighttime tube ride, but I was hoping they would have more newer activities. Friend staff was still present as well as all resort activities listed on website. Still love the Sat wine tasting and cider donuts.
This weekend was our second visit to rocking horse ranch with our 4 kids (6 to 13). We went two years ago and our kids had such an amazing time they have been begging to go back. We were almost afraid that two years older all the stuff they had once deemed amazing was a little less so.. boy were we wrong!!. There are so many things to do, and the place is beautiful. We have never had a vacation that requires so little "splitting up" based on the age range of the kids. Make sure you take advantage of the horse back rides! Do them every day if u can!
Great getaway family resort an hour and 15 min from Westchester county. This place wasn't too crowded, food was great and staff were friendly and attentive. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
My wife and I were here in the early 80's with our sons. We took or 2 middle aged sons and their families this past weekend. 6 Adults, 1 teenager and 3 more between 10 and 12. This place is superb. Food, accommodations, staff, activities, pool, etc., etc. It is no more expensive than the other family style resorts we researched or that friends have been to. We arrived early on Friday and they gave us breakfast and lunch and stayed until after dinner on Sunday. 3 full days for the price of 2 nights. Rocking Horse Ranch is a gem. It has been around for a long time for a reason.
Service was very very good, every staff member was nice and know about the resort, making sure you had a great time, food and the activities were fabulous, definitely recommend this resort if you have kids
My first time there and WOW I was impressed. Everything was great, the staff is so friendly and you can tell that place is run by a family that cares greatly about their guests and not run by a corporation. I do not have young kids, but I could not help but notice that kids were having a great time and being very active around the resort. I went mostly for the horse back riding and it was great, nice trails and you have three levels of rides to choose from. Also there is a winter park that has a nice easy ski run that would be a good and cheap (equipment is included at no cost) to introduce young kids with paying for an expensive lift ticket and equipment. The food was great and there were free snacks, hot chocolate and coffee 24 hrs. Everything was included in your room rate, considering that I was about to ride multiple times in the day and the quality of the food made it all very reasonable.
Place is so lame. That it smells like the outhouse. The food tastes horrible. The beds are too lumpy to lay on while you rest or sleep. The water slide is too damn back breaking. And for all I care, this place is so lame!
I highly recommend Rocking Horse Ranch. The room we had was great big enough for all 5 of us. The room was clean and beds are very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and professional. The food was great! The horse back riding was awesome. The outdoor activities were endless. I can't say enough about how much fun we had and how safe we felt here. Thank you Rocking Horse Ranch!
The rocking horse ranch is a great place . We loved the food, the pools, the water slides and the horse ride. The place is spotless except for where the horses rule and roam. The staff provided great service and a sense of security. If we looked with a flashlight and magnifying glass we could find nothing to complain about. P.S. This place is as much a water sport and water fun park as it is a great horse ranch
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Lots of great experiences to be had. The whole family had a blast between the horse back riding, playground, bouncy bungee cord, rock climbing, indoor and outdoor pool. The room was very nice, large and we'll kept. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone I know. It is worth every penny.
It's been 30 years since we have been there when I was a child. Now we are back with our children and we had a great time!! There are so many things that are exactly the same as they were but there are also many things that are brand new. Kids had a blast and always had something to do. Our older kids went off exploring on their own and the younger ones were exhausted by the end of the day... literally falling asleep at the dinner table. I cant complain about the food, while not super fancy it was great every day food and was well prepared. Our son left his stuffed animal there and they found it and mailed it to us, top notch service for our entire stay!!!
Rocking horse ranch is a great place for a family getaway. Our three year old was absolutely in love with the indoor water park and the arcade. We spent two nights which was not enough time to do all the activities that were available. The food was actually really good! As someone with dietary restrictions there was always something that i could have. Some of the witnesses were more on top of the food allergies than others. It would have been nice if they had the foods at the buffet marked for the most common allergies. Or just the ones that were safe for dairy/ gluten.
Lots of activities for kids like , indoor water slide and pool, mountain tubing, bungee jumping , mini bowling and boating. Good is not bad and did accommodate our request for vegetarian food. Unless requested for vegetarian food, you see only meat. Room sizes good and you two queen beds and a bunk bed for two. Not worth it beyond a night
Nice quaint family place. Meals included. But it's overpriced for our budget and our family income is approximately 150k we've only been once. Everyone was super nice.
