JEAN ZHOU Review of Rocking Horse Ranch Resort

We stayed two nights 12/24, 12/25 in 2018. So you know, that was during Christmas when their rates are highest of the year. For the price I paid and what I experienced, I was disappointed. First day we arrived around 1pm. Unlike the reviews I read before, I was not greeted by the receptionists. There were three ladies at front desk, there was only two guests before me. It was not busy at all. The ladies briefly asked my check in information, while we were talking, no eye contact or smile. Maybe they were not happy about working on Christmas Eve? Our 8 year old son was excited to be that place, because of the holiday atmosphere and all the kids activities at his first sight. Around 3pm, we went to the pool together. The pool was compact size for younger children, of course, no diving or jumping should be allowed. An accident happened to my son in the pool. When he was close to the deck, a kid jumped into water and hit my son s forehead. When my son climbed up and walked to me crying, the red bump on his forehead stated to swelling quickly. The lifeguard, who was apparently a student worker hired temporarily, didn t receive good training. He didn t know what to do, whom to call. He looked at us, walked away, made a phone call, then walked to us in 5 minutes and told us a medical helper was in the middle of another accident, he will come as soon as he finishes. When I asked if he can give us an ice pack, he just said I don t have it, no other instructions. While we talked, my son was screaming, the bump was big and blue. I asked reception desk if I can have an ice pack, the answer was same we don t have it . 30 minutes later, the medical came, he gave us a zipper bag wrapped ice cubes. I put that over the wound, it didn t help much as it was swelled for 30 minutes already. We got Tylenol for pain relief. I was angry and disappointed. For the money I paid, I could not even get an ice pack for emergency. No excuses for this children s vacation place does not have emergency aids, like basic needs for once pack. Not to mention the employees indifferent attitude when I asked for help. There was no clear warning by the pool to prohibit jumping, diving. After my son s accident, I saw other kids jump, the lifeguard gave a whistle but he didn t attempt to stop that behavior. Rocking horse ranch, when you read my review, please take your responsibility to manage your lifeguards and safety for your guests. Serious issues can come to you.
