Rocking Horse Ranch Resort Review

Celebrated my kid s bday here. My family had FUN!! The food was tasty, the horses were spunky and fun to ride, the staff was friendly and made my kids smile! Room was very clean. Even with some changes and activities not offered due to COVID, we found lots to do in our 3 day/2 night trip. My kids said they had more fun here than Great Wolf and we didn t even get in the pool! Will be back

It has such a home feel with alot of fun activities

My family went to the ranch for the first time this past week. My children who are 15,13,11 and 7 had such a wonderful time that they cried as we left. The activities, shows and staff are amazing, especially Geri. Geri made us feel like we were Family. We felt as if we had been going to the ranch for years, that is how welcoming everyone is. I am a neat freak and do not like showering or walking around bare foot in hotels, but NOT here, The rooms are spotless!!! The Rocking Horse Ranch will definitely be a family tradition for us now, my kids are already asking when we can go back!

Great family fun. Nice to have something thats close and all inclusive. The rooms need updating. The walls are paper thin and if u have a joining room it's even worse since the joining doors are paper thin, good luck if there's an infant next door.

I had planned on going was very excited thought it would be around $400 a night just got off the phone with her and she said almost $800 a night it would almost $2000 fo td two nights no thank you that is ridiculous its false avertism!!!!

Loved this place...staff is great and helpful with the kids. Great place to visit.

All inclusive Four star food ,tons of indoor/outdoor activities ;horse rides,indoor outdoor pool, water slides ,indoor outdoor saloons,camp fire,paddle boat, water ski, game room, chef tastings, small selection craft beer, spotless rooms with bunk beds, mountain tubing, pony rides ,ball pit , baseball, tennis, shuffle board, basketball, horse drawn carriage rides, live shows, gift shop, free WiFi (main lodge) , this is as good as it gets. I would definitely recommend this place to a family with kids ages 2-18.

We came for girl scout weekend and had a great time. Tons of activities, staff was amazing, good was great. Definitely worth the 5 hour drive.

Great for kids. Not a five star hotel by any stretch of imagination, but indoor pool, snow tubing, horseback riding, mediocre food in large quantities, and kid friendly cheesy night shows makes this a blast for the kids. And easy for the parents. Price is getting higher and higher, and not sure it can still be considered a value. But still worth it for us.

We absolutely hated it! Nothing was as advertised. "Rifle range" was a bow and arrow and BB gun. No free food was out near coffee and tea except a few pieces of bread. Chef tasting food downstairs was covered with flies. The worst was having to schedule everything!! We arrived at 11 and couldn't do much of anything until 1. We ended up leaving. Such a disappointment!

They tried to charge my family more because we are a single parent family. We wanted to go and they wanted to charge us more than our rent just so that we would go for 3 days! They wanted to charge us 2,241.69 in total and 438.10 for the one single parent adult. I did not like their service at all. Managers were super rude! I do not recommend them at all.

Fantastic family resort with great staff, food, and activities! Been visiting every year for the last 19 years and plan to keep going back!

If i could give a million stars i would! I used to come here when I was small and now I get the opportunity to take my daughter. We have come the last 2 years and my daughter always says "its better then Disney World!" I cant thank the staff enough for everything and making my daughter smile each and every time! We will make it a point to come every year!!

Great family vacation, lots to do such as horse back riding, inside and outside pools with water slides, great all you can eat food, archery, family oriented nightly entertainment, etc... All staff are extremely courteous and friendly. Entire resort is clean and well maintained, the landscaping is beautiful. Can't say enough about this resort. We go every year for a three night stay with our kids and grandkids.

I have been going to the Rocking Horse Ranch since the 80's when I was a little girl. Our parents used to bring us for the last week of Aug. Always so much to do with all the out door activities and of course the horse back riding.. Always a favorite. I have so many memories, and we have made so many friends over the years that we still talk with today, Now I have a family of my own and I love how excited my little girl gets when we go to the ranch. we don't go during the summers anymore, we go once a year every November and it keeps us busy with a fun filled weekend for all of us. We love to ride and the trails are beautiful, and the stable staff is so friendly. We are thankful for the daycare staff, our daughter loves it in there. that gives my husband and I riding time together. Over the years they have really improved on the indoor pool area, and the little water park area is great for the kids, and the big slide for the big kids. I love that over the years they have really made some great improvements to the ranch with the play barn, the wall climbing and jumping things for the kids. They know how to keep them busy with something. The new dinning room area looks like its going to be a great new addition to the eating area. Oh and the food, is delish, never a complaint about it. They really know how to feed you. 3 meals a day with and hour cocktail during the day , You can never go hungry. Entertainment at night can be a little better, the second night there this past November was not You may feel that its a bit pricy, but you can park your car for the weekend, and just have a great family time with spending very little. I think I may have spent about $60 between stuff at the gift shop and some drinks before dinner. Love that Place, will keep going to I can.....

Great place for taking your kids but you can do everything in one day or in a few hours. They need to add more things to do so you won't be bored.

Wonderful vacation place. Tons of things to do, great food, nice people. And not too crowded.

I have been there before and loved it, and when bookign it again , noticed the three star accomodations despite excellent reviews, and gave it another try. Truly, you can not be disappointed.

Rooms are clean, bunk beds are fun. Staff is amazing. Their attention to detail is impeccable. We go frequently to Great Wolf, Kalahari, etc.. and honestly RHR is truly unique. The trail rides are unlike any other horseback riding as you go through the woods, and the horses are so well groomed that you really don't nee to know how to handle a horse and be safe. likewise, if you do know how to handle a horse, the horses will listen to your commands and give you a great ride.

Being a foodie myself, Food is surprisingly really really good. Well cooked, attentive to dietary restrictions, and delicious. There is a consistent schedule of activities that you can not be bored.. beyond just the physical places like pool, lake, etc.. there are ping pong tourneys, bingo, trivia, arts crafts.. its like summer camp. And young or old.. its got something for everyone. Even my picky 15 year old who doesn't like going to places geared toward her younger sister age enjoyed herself. Concerning price.. its pricey, but when you do the math.. and add in trail ride(s), meals, perks, etc.. its rather inexpensive.. Can not recommend more. Kudos RHR!

FANTASTIC SERVICE! Just returned from another fun-filled week at Rocking Horse Ranch Resort where there are an abundance of activities including horseback riding, of course! Lots of fun, great for all ages, staff are very personable & accommodating, lots of wonderful food, comfortable clean rooms, & the list goes on. Been here several times & planning to return soon. Highly recommend!

Wow. We had an excellent time. Perfect for families. Lots of fun Activities. Clean. So much food. Don't worry about the price because its so WORTH IT. Service was a breath of fresh air (Shout-out to Jerry, Haley). Thank you "Rocking Horse Ranch Resort". We definitely will return.

I used to stay here as a kid and used to have a blast. Went back recently with my husband and toddler and it was great. Very family friendly, clean, and lots to do.

It was fun but there could be more big water slides

Been coming here since I'm a kid, has attractions for all ages so it is quite ideal for families especially those with kids of different ages. Very homey, nice, and fun atmosphere. The staff are all actually nice, the smiles are not just plastered on, rather real and true. The food is great, it is not fancy, rather tasty and Western, which is exactly what they are aiming for. The horseback riding is amazing, the horses are well trained, the wranglers who manage the rides are very dedicated very nice staff who do their best to make the experience a fun interesting yet very safe activity.

Expensive, but cool place to take the family, plenty of good food too

We went last summer a couple of nights. Great Stay! The kids had a blast between the kids club, the mountain tubbing, the pools and slides, to many activities to list! We'll be back.

Fantastic place. Took the whole family (18) and had a wonderful time. This is definitely a great place. 116 horses, mountain tubing, swimming, water skiing, entertainment, activities for the whole family. The food is great and the staff loves their jobs.

Great staff. We visited in a more off season time but there was still a full itnerary of activities. Indoor pool with a water slide, Meals are basic but tasty ranch food. They always have choices for the kids. Buffet breakfast and lunch with a decent variety of choices. I'm sure in summer with outdoor activities it is a little more fun. Trivia, night time tubing and a beautiful lodge kept our family happy.

my mom took me here over 30 years ago my first and only time on a horse as a child i have to say i loved it.
now i'm a grown man with a child of my own and being a single parent they want to charge me double its a sin disney cost less lol
so unfortunately ill have to make other plans
who knows maybe they'll get a clue and stop over charging single parents

Went with the family for the first time this year. This place exceeded my wildest dreams. From customer service, food to the activities on site, I have been recommending this as a place for families to visit. Hopefully, I can get more of my family members and friends to come at the same time with their children.

Love this place. Not huge but lots to do. All inclusive. Great for outdoorsy families but things to do inside as well. One of my favorite vacations as a kid and took my kids back and WE loved it again. Went in the fall. Definitely want to go back in the summer next time

Our family of four consisting of mom, dad, and two daughters ages 11 and 14 had a vacation of a lifetime at Rocking Horse Ranch! Making teens and tweens happy is almost impossible, but we managed to get a unanimous vote of "awesome trip" from both of them. The trail horses were clean, happy and the best cared for I've ever encountered. Our room was clean and comfortable. The buffets were delicious, the menu food hit or miss, but overall we were more than well fed. Our three night stay was fun, we would have loved to stay one night longer, though. The entertainment was amazing and fun for everyone. We loved the indoor and outdoor pools and water activities. Most of all, we'll miss the horses and the fantastic barn staff. We would highly recommend a family vacation at Rocking Horse Ranch!

Smaller than expected, food was good. Room was very comfortable. Very good activities, some were extra, but not much. Kids had a great time.

Before even considering this place, think about the price. When we got a quote from them, it was more than 2000 dollars for only 2 adults and 2 children. If you have a tight budget, I highly reccomend not going here.

Great place for a few day family getaway. Was there for 3 days and had a great time. Activities, food, cleanliness was all on point. The staff are very careful with keeping everything sanitized. They have sanitizer everywhere. Totally recommend this place! Definitely coming back again with the family.

Top of the line midwest feel without having to actually go out there

Great service. Friendly staff. The food the best .
But we are still waiting for the cocktail server or sommelier. She near us but she never bothered to come and at least say hello. So we got up and got ourselves.

The place is awesome. So much to do. The hotel and premises are constantly cleaned. The staff is friendly and helpful. One staff member really stood out. Our waitress Laurie. She was sweet and efficient and so personable. We loved her immediately. We even made sure to give her a huge hug on our last day. Would recommend anyone to go and stay. And ask for Laurie in the dining room!!!!!

This was my family's first time at Rocking Horse Ranch. Being from Delaware, none of our friends or family had heard of the ranch.
We happened to find the resort while googling vacation destinations. It was about a four hour drive, but well worth it! I guarantee there will be more Delawareans making their way north because we are spreading the word that RHR is amazing! The staff were so accommodating and friendly. The resort was kept very clean. SO MUCH FOOD! Expect to bring home a few extra pounds! My kids especially loved the chocolate fondue fountain at dinner. Laurie was our server on the first night and she was very friendly and explained a lot about the ranch. She convinced me to order the short ribs and I was so glad I did!
We went skiing for the first time. Ivy was so nice, helpful, and encouraging! Snow tubing at night was a blast and we roasted marshmallows. On my daughter's birthday, the dinner staff sang and brought her a birthday sundae. We enjoyed the evening shows. The entertainers were funny and included us in the shows. Both of my kids and their friend got called up on stage. Sitting by the fireplace in the the lobby was relaxing. Going down the indoor waterslide was fun. I could go on and on about this place. We stayed for three nights which gave us plenty of time to try the many activities. When checking out, one of the staff members brought my car up front and helped load our bags into the car. Breakfast and lunch were included on the day of check out so we were able to stuff our bellies before our drive home. Thank you RHR for an amazing, memorable vacation! We will be back!

The experience was a very positive one. The most notable was the service. The staff was extremely friendly and professional. The food was excellent. The facilities were wonderful. I would come here again.

Great staff, food, horseback rides, grounds, pool, lake....all great

Our family goes every few months because it is such a short trip to go and there is SO much to do. Every time we go it is as great as the first time. You can't say that about many trips!

This is our tenth year at RHR and the kids love it!

This was literally a last minute mini-vacation for my family. We were looking for an overnight trip to celebrate my sons 9th birthday and found this place from a Facebook ad. Called the morning off and got an instant booking and we were not disappointed! The staff were all friendly and you could see the dedication on their part. They would tend to your need and are all very welcoming. Also accommodated our vegan diet with sumptuous meals breakfast lunch and dinner! So many fun activities for kids and adults. We squeezed in one day horseback riding (trail riding oh so beautiful trails!), skiing, snow tubing, wagon riding, indoor mini water park, an illusion show and simply being silly and playing in the snow. Our kids cannot wait to come back!

The rooms were comfortable, the food was great, there s many activities and you will never get bored, spa was fantastic, the nightly shows are entertaining for children and adults alike. The reason for four stars is because the horse stable people were not very kind.

If you have kids under the age of 9 or 10, this is the perfect place to vacation. They designed the resort to make it easy as possible to spend time having fun with your kids. What they provide is the variety of activities, even if each activity is very simple. But honestly, most kids get bored pretty quickly, so having variety really helps. The indoor pool is great if you have toddlers - it's probably the only "water park" that's designed for little ones. The food is better than you would expect for a family resort. I was always full, and happy with the food. The nightly entertainment is great for little kids.

Although our room was supposed to be ready for 4PM, we got there at about 9AM to enjoy the resort beforehand and they were able to accommodate us into a room as soon as we got there which was great. Everyone is nice and friendly, not too crowded which means everything is easily accessible with minimal wait. This made for a great weekend getaway.

I love love love this place. All the staff are super friendly very helpful. Is not congested like other water park. Plenty of seats for everyone. Water everywhere you go, so you are very hydrated. I took my 2 n 5. Kids club watches kids for free from 4 and up below is 12$ per hour. Food is excellent. A lot of activities everyday.

It was amazing. Son got ear infection at 12:00 at night and staff was able to guide us to the hospital. Food was excellent, you will never go bored with all the activities they have. Would very strongly recommend for a family

My wife put together this trip; I'd never even heard of the place. The grounds were meticulously maintained, the staff was very polite and enjoyed their jobs, the food was great; an all-around great weekend. It would have been nice for them to offer a "drink package" like on a cruise and the cocktail/beer pricing was NYC prices. I thought $8 cocktails with what we spent to stay there was out of line.

Not a bad place to take the kids if they like to go horse back riding and kayaking. Lots of fun things to do. We did not wait on any lines. Do try to stay at the main lodge instead of the off-site building. I feel the rooms at the main lodge are better. The rokms at the off site building are clean but like a motel room.

This place is amazing definitely would go there again so many things to do and I never got bored. Plus the staff is so nice and it s just awesome!!

Spent a weekend here with my better half. Had a wonderful time. The staff was amazing, warm, and accommodating. The activities were fantastic We kayaked in the lake and rode horses before relaxing in the pool and hitting up the bowling before bed. Only complaint is that the mattresses are very soft. Still five stars though.

Fun for both adults and kids. They have everything you need.
