Nothing exceptional about this place except the prices. Exorbitant! 100 bucks for 5 glasses of wine, a small cup of soup, and a spinach artichoke app half as good as any chain restaurant. I'll never go back but please, by all means, go if you like paying way too much for nothing. PS I'd give zero stars if they'd let me.

Fantastic experience. The cheese plate was the perfect size and I savored every bite of the crab cakes. Live music on Thursdays and drink and food specials the rest of the week.
It was a wonderful night overall. Our waiter, Joshua, was excellent. He listened to our wine preferences and provided a thoughtful suggestion, an amarone, that paired perfectly with our entrees.
We enjoyed the charcuterie and cheese board, which came with prosciutto and salami, a soft and a very soft cheese, mustard, cornichons, soft and hard bread, almonds, dates, and apricots. The meatballs made with charcuterie were outstanding. And the flat iron steak was cooked perfectly.
Stanley and Arlene Brown are the so warm, so kind as hosts. As the atmosphere was vibrant inside, the outside patio was filled with music from the two French guitarists. Yeah... it was a pretty perfect night.
Robust is great. Food is good, staff is wonderful. They cater to my GF needs. For travelers, it isn't right off the highway but it's probably worth the extra few minutes.
Wow- really liked this restaurant! From the server all the way through the dessert, everything was delicious and impeccably delivered. Highly recommend, especially with friends to enjoy the many shareable options.
Was here for a company Gathering which apparently had the whole place rented out. I had never been there otherwise but seems like a really nice place with great wait staff
Comfortable place with mostly small plates/appetizers and wide variety of wine and beer.
Prices are a bit high (especially charcuterie) but there are a few food and drink specials from 4-6 weekdays and daily specials like 15% off wine flights or bottles. Service is good, especially if you sit at the bar. Lots of outdoor seating if the weather is nice.
I was there Sunday during the Webster Christmas walk and the food was great but service was not. I had to ask for a plate and when the bartender handed it to me it was dirty. She watched me pick off some dried food and didn't offer to get me another, she just hurried off. She never refilled our waters and checked on us once. Another server actually helped me. I was disappointed as my daughter was in town and loves this place.
Nestled in the center of Webster Groves, Mo this wine bar has some good tasting wine. Friendly staff, good atmosphere the waitresse's name was Donna she was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wine choices and recommendations. Thanks Donna
Went for a Birthday party and ordered a crown and diet coke... didn't get crown, got some off brand nasty whiskey. Besides that had a great time at the party and the food was great.
I would have given this place 5 stars but the waiter was so disrespectful and rude so it gets one star. The food and drinks were great but they need to fix their staff.
The wine is GREAT, but the appetizers are just OK. Appetizers are very small portions with high prices. Go to enjoy a great glass of wine, but don't go hungry.
Great food and an amazing wine selection (I LOVE that they have a rating systems for pairings and so many wine flights to choose from). The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is due to our server. When we walked in, we overheard that the host would be assigning us to a server named Sam. Oh, how we all wish that had worked out.
When we sat down, a female server (I don't even remember her introducing herself) asked us if we had been in before and when learning that we had not, didn't have much of a response. That's not necessarily a problem, but then my uncle asked her if there was anything we should know, and she looked confused and said little more than, "Errr..." He followed that up by asking specifically about specials, which she told us in a perfunctory manner. She then asked if we knew what we wanted to drink. We of course didn't know yet, so she went off.
Then, the aforementioned Sam came to our table. During the few minutes Sam was actually our server, he also found out that we had never been in. Using that information, he took the time to explain how their wine rating system worked and told us about the flights. He then took my mother's drink order and went to put it in. Sadly, that was the last we saw of Sam.
The female server returned and for the rest of the night gave us very abrupt, sometimes pushy service. Maybe she was having an off night (I've worked in the service industry, and I know how difficult it can be to be "on" all the time) or maybe she was miffed that they tried to give a table in her section to another server, but when you're paying $40 to $50 per person for dinner and a single round of drinks...well, I expect more.
TLDR: mixed wait staff experience, but delicious food and wine. Would visit again.
Nice atmosphere and good service. I enjoyed the wonderful selection of wine and wine flights. I did think that the charcuterie and cheese plate was not worth the $19 price, there was only a little amount of two cheeses and meats. Overall this is a great place to have a drink and meet with friends.
Went for the Paella on 6/21/2017. The service was terrible. The order of Paella was just rice without any seafood. We had to send it back. Terrible experience.
Always a top notch experience here. The only drawback is that it is better suited for connoisseurs as opposed to casual wine drinkers and budding foodies.
I had a great pinot noir for a reasonable price, the Zoe. BF had a beer, and it's nice that they have a variety of basic and craft.
It was a large bday party, so friend hosting had various bread/crackers/spreads out- all tasty. I also had a sampling of meatballs, flatbread, and salmon, again all very good. It can get pricy and the portion are true tapas style small plates.
I'm usually just here on weekends, but it's always very crowded. If you're looking for a table, especially for a group, I recommend reservations.
Came here for new years eve with a group of 14. We had reservations for 8pm. At 8pm they said table wasnt ready but enjoy a drink at the bar. At 8:55 they finally seat our group. We asked about our server at 9:10pm and waited until 9:17pm without a server coming to our table before we all got up and left. We had 7 bottles of wine picked out too. Its a real shame when you TRY to give them money. We left and went down the street to some live music and had a great time.
Looks = great, atmosphere = great, Music= great, 2 glasses of a basic red blend 27.00 cheese plate 17.99, 2 tiny crab cakes 17.99total = 62.99. wine was flat, or just a low quality, cheese plate low end as in when the menu compares the Spanish cheese as similar to manchego vs it is manchego... Crab cakes were very good. Wait staff great. Overall a nice place that is expensive and serves cheap items made to look like quality. Will not return as there are far too many places to explore. I choose this place because I was hoping for a decent glass of wine from a wine bar. I would expect a wine bar to actually smell the wine before it is served, or at least know the age or if it is flat. Unless of course it was just a cheap wi e served at an expensive price.
It was our first time here and it won't be our last. The food was delicious and hot when served. I loved my Manhattan and my wife loved her Moscow Mule. I had that Sheppard's pie. She had the Red Snapper. Both delicious. Our server was Joseph and he was courteous, prompt, and knowledgeable. Loved every bit of the ambience and we even had the chocolate bread pudding with coffee ice cream for dessert. We highly recommend this restaurant in Webster Groves.
We stopped in for some wine and appetizers. We sat at the bar and the bartender recommended a flight. I had the Pinot Noir Flight and my husband had a flight of reds. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food and the wine. The wine/gift shop section is very nice as well.
Food was good when it finally arrived an hour after ordering and when it did arrive only half of our group was serviced and the other half had to wait another 10 minutes.
Nice food and romantic atmosphere. Other reviews point out some truths: can seem a bit pricey, but some dishes and wine flights are excellent. Some good vegetarian options. If you're not sure what wine you like, all the servers we've had have been happy to make suggestions (maybe even if you think you do know what you like).
A bit pricey for the normal dinner meals and for poor college students like me. However, the atmosphere is really exquisite and the food is delicious. Don't expect a lot of food for your money though, plates are small if you're really hungry. It has a very NYC kind of feel to it...Reminded me of home. If you come at late night, the people there are usually very dressy so I felt out of place with a hoodie and jeans. Despite that, the staff there are still very nice and knowledgeable. I didn't get to try the wine but they have such a huge menu for it! Hummus was to die for, so smooth and silky. The chicken breast tasting plate was full of taste even though it was a bit small. I think it was the best chicken I've ever had! This was the only thing i wished I could take home with me. BUT warning, the olives are very salty...They were in my hummus and salad and I had to not eat them after a while because all I tasted was salt. BLEGH.
this is the best place ever to meet a girlfriend for a drink. The appetizers and plates can be shared, and the wine is spectacular. I especially like the "wine flights" so that I can try some different wines. The ambiance is nice and the food is a good value because it is very good.
A great place to share and enjoy wine. Really enjoyed our flights and recommendations. The duck bacon was great for me and the trout with crab was very tasty. Awesome chocolate mousse dessert with plenty to share.
Went there excited to try a new place. Don't have plans to return any time soon. Nothing was wrong, but nothing was great enough to warrant coming back. Food menu is unique--if you are looking for that sort of thing. We got the crab topped trout and it was good. Got to sit outside on a great night, but positioned right near the servers door so constantly had the back drop of a loud "BANG" as the door shut hard repeatedly. Wine list is good as it offers a wide selection and they do a good job of categorizing the types to help you ID what you are looking for. Service was...eh. Overall impression was that it wasn't worth the price point given small portions.
The BBLT is divine! Great for people who don't like tomatoes as they use a tomato jam. My husband hates tomatoes, but he likes this BBLT. The soup of the day is usually good. Good wine selection.
On three occasions I've taken out-of-town guest here to give them a taste of the area. On each visit everyone seamed to walk away disappointed. The food is good, but not great, and the staff is hit or miss - missing most of the time. I tried to like it, I really, really tried.
Great neighborhood bar/ restaurant in Webster Groves. Wine and spirits selections were vast. Food was excellent. Very relaxed atmosphere, we stayed and talked for quite a while after dinner, no worries.
Service was off, confused, not good, multiple mess-ups. The food was average. Good wine selections and enjoyable wine flights. Maybe we just hit a bad night. Not intending to try again in hopes of a better experience.
It was wonderful. My husband made a reservation so we were seated right away. The food was incredible and we had a nice waitress. I can't wait to go back.
One of the better wine bars in St. Louis. A great place to visit whether you are a wine connoisseur or are just learning about wines. If you want to learn, sit at the bar when they are not busy and the staff are usually happy to chat with you about all things wine-related. Wines are categorized by "style," not just varietal. The food menu includes both small and large plates, and each item indicates which types of wine would pair well with it. The owner and manager are extremely friendly and outgoing and can usually be found onsite.
Robust Wine Bar was excellent. My partner and I stumbled across it while walking around downtown St. Louis. The decor was trendy but well done, and the wait staff were helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. The wine flights were reasonably priced, and offered a nice selection of whites and sparklers. The cheese plate was fantastic, and our small plates were both divine! I recommend the Bistro Strip Steak to any foodie - it was perfection. Two wine flights, two cheeses and two small plates came to $90 with tip - a tad pricey, but well worth it.
We love this place. All the staff are amazing and super helpful. You feel welcomed here as soon as you walk in as long as its not packed on a busy night. The quality is top notch, and the selection is great. With the added tables off to the side there is now more opportunity to get in there without having to wait. GREAT place!
How do I rate this restaurant higher than a 5? What is impressive about Robust is our meals are consistently delicious, the atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable and the folks (many/most younger) are respectful and do not hover! It's really impressive how they are there when needed but allow us to enjoy our lunch or dinner without constant interruptions. If you haven't been to Robust yet - you should go!!
Excellent food, wine, and service- scallops were fantastically cooked and seasoned. Others had crab stuffed trout and chicken dishes and all said the best they have had!
I didn't like this place. This place is a wine bar. It's OK if you're a thirty-something woman that likes wine in an upper class neighborhood.
Even though it's not for me, the ambiance is good--cozy and not too loud. Maybe even romantic. I don't know. The staff is really attentive, and the prosciutto and cheese plates we snacked on were... well... ham and cheese. Nothing amazing considering the prices.
Our wine drinkers got 3 different types of wine at once. I stuck with beer. These guys gotta pay their rent. Go with friends who love sniffing and talking about wine--if you can stand that sort of thing.
Nice wine bar located in the Webster Groves neighborhood. My wife and I were in the area for an event where she was painting live while I played guitar and sang. After we were finished, I noticed a musician playing on the patio at Robust so we stopped in have a listen. The wine selection was great. The staff was helpful especially since my knowledge of wine is limited. We had a couple glasses of wine on the patio and a small cheese plate. They offer wine flights so you can sample different wines in the same style, which I thought was a great idea. We have been back since our initial visit and plan on stopping by again very soon.
Excellent wine, excellent service, excellent food, romantic atmosphere. It's our favorite date night. Is there more to say? Oh, ask for Joshua. He is the best.
We had never been before, I think we had not yet gone as it is a wine bar and we are not huge wine people. However, not going sooner was a mistake! The food was simply outstanding! I was blown away. We shared the roasted asparagus gratin, baked camembert, Mediterranean meatballs, and the sweet potato chilaquiles. I think the camembert may have been my favorite, but they were all so good so it is hard to choose! We did not have any wine, but the Manhattan I had was fantastic. Overall it was not as expensive as many of the restaurants we go to but was just as good if not better than many. We will certainly be going back!
Loved it here! Environment is relaxed and just makes you want to drink more wine haha. The wine flights are wonderful - I love being able to taste a lot of things when I don't know exactly what I want. The happy hour specials are on point! The greek meatballs and the spinach dip are topps! I'll be back soon!
We had a great evening sitting outside as the sun was setting. Service was excellent (nicely anticipatory) and she interacted like she's known us for years - fun. Food was great (had the Adobo Steak Wrap) and proportions were just about right - enough for a meal but light enough not to weigh me down. They have a large wine selection but we stuck with beer and cocktails. They had a lot of tables outdoors but as the weather gets cool (it's October now), the inside seating is not that big so plan accordingly. Recommend
Service was excellent, wine was excellent, and food was excellent. My friend and I sat at the bar and went with the bartender's recommendations for wine and food, everything was amazing.
I have driven by Robust many times and always noticed how crowded it has been. But I am not a wine person so I never went in. Just got a gift certificate for Christmas and went to Robust for my first time. What a fabulous experience. They had lots of wine of course but we had beer and cocktails that were excellent. The food was outstanding. We had a cheese plate, salads, scallops, pork, beef and a dessert. Everything was so delicious. Our waiter John was very nice and knew everything about the restaurant. I will be back many times!
Extremely great place to go have a quality dinner or even sit down and have a drink. A vast majority of the staff is extremely friendly and personable. I would definitely recommend giving this place try.
