RITZ-CARLTON SAN JUAN HOTEL AND CASINO Review

Stayed for a week on vacation. The hotel was nice, service is great, they give a $50 daily credit that makes the price very reasonable.

Place needs some updates. For the prices of the rooms and the brand, it should be pristine.

I visited Ritz Carlton for my birthday in February 2017, and I cannot say enough about this beautiful hotel! Upon check-in I was greeted with the most delicious cocktail and when they found out that I was visiting for my birthday, I received another complimentary treat. I felt so special.

I stayed in a pool facing suite with a balcony and I loved sitting out there at night, or really early in the morning. There is a fitness center and fitness classes! It was so nice to be able to stay in shape while on vacation, and to meet and interact with different people in the fitness classes.

The beach is beautiful. You have the option of remaining on the property, or walking through the magic door leading to the beach. When my friends arrived we walked around the area and took the hop on hop off bus to Old San Juan. I enjoyed learning about the history of the island and trying some local cuisine.

I can t end this post without mentioning the Photography Concierge! I could not believe that they had a free onsite photographer available to all the guests. Although there was no sitting free, there is obviously a fee for the photos. But I found the packages to be very reasonable. The photographer was professional, creative, friendly, and extremely talented. I was so pleased with how the photos came out. And having Ritz Carlton San Juan as the backdrop was just icing on the cake!

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would!

The best hotel in the island. Great.customer service

It is an excellent hotel, the service is from another world. ..

Ambiance is nice, scenic back space with pool and bar. The pool area goes straight onto the beach. The rooms themselves are pretty underwhelming. Theres no lock on the bathroom door. And there is no usable space in the provided fridge.

Wonderful environment, however moderately overpriced.

This place is beautiful and has access to the best beach in Puerto Rico

The rooms here are nice but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Everything that should take one conversation with staff takes two or three.

Amazing beach, great accomodations and excellent service

This Ritz-Carlton location offers some nice views but could benefit from an extra dose of luxury . This property has unfortunately suffered in the press and is not on my list of properties for another visit.

The staff is great it's a very beautiful hotel I really only went there for the casino. If I had one complaint it would be I wish they had a few more blackjack tables mainly because that's what I like to play but there's a good variety of table games

This was an unforgettable vacation! From the moment my family and I arrived at the Ritz-Carlton, Jean-Pierre, the doorman, greeted us with the biggest smile and welcomed us to the hotel. He was not only professional but truly took the time to get to know us. From there we had the pleasure to meet Juan and Yanira at the front desk, their attention to detail and welcoming feeling from these two employees was warm and genuine, they made sure to accommodate us with the best room for our family. After completing our check in which included refreshing Guava Mimosas, my family and I went up to our room which had an amazing view of the ocean and the pool area. Also, I must mention the wonderful breakfast buffet at Ocean Grill! I truly recommend it! You are served unlimited Mimosas and amazing selection of coffee's, you get to choose from 30 variations of latte's and cappuccinos and made to order omelets. Yum! Also, we had the pleasure to be served by Cesar, he is very friendly, professional, always greeted us with a great smile went out of his way to accommodate the kids requests for waffles or pancakes each morning. Also he gave us some great tips of the best places to dine and visit around the Island.
Overall this hotel fulfilled our expectations, it's not only beautiful and with amazing service but the location is prime. We will definitely return... asap!

I did not stay there but went over for a drink. It seems like a very nice high end place, but I cannot tell much more than that.

Dined at BLT steak. Service and food were excellent as usual.

Rock Hard, springy bed. The bed is actually injuring by back. The pillows are super skinny and worn. I don't know if I can make it through my whole 5 day vacation here. May need to check out and leave the island early. Just awful!!!!!

After living in PR for a while, I appreciate nice hotels and businesses that bring in new tourist revenue. This is a nice hotel with a nice view. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a lot of PR character.

We had a suite at the hotel in which wires were running down in front of our door the entire time. On the last day, at 7 am they started doing construction, which prohibited us to use the patio or get to and from the pool from our room. I spoke to the front desk and they assured me a manager would call, and have called 3 more times and no response. No matter how beautiful the hotel, when you pay almost $2k/night for a room, you expect someone to pick up the phone and call back. Not a fan!

I love this hotel. They treat you like royalty. I have never been treated so well. Employees go above and beyond. This hotel makes you want to stay inside and not see Puerto Rico. Glad we are staying for 11 nights.

Went for the casino. Very nice not many card tables were open. Ones that were open were crowded or high buy ins. El San Juan had nicer decor but the Ritz had better slots and friendlier

Extraordinary reception with first class service in the room. Prepared set with music lights.

This is a great hotel but what makes it stand out from the rest is the amazing staff. These were the warmest most accommodating people we have encountered on our many trips throughout the world.

Nice place but way too expensive. It is the Ritz so this is expected, however not good enough for the price.

Towels are washed off the hotel property and had a few days where they weren't delivered so we went without towels. Staff tell you not to get your own umbrella etc but then you lay on beach without one because they didn't bring any. Drug use in property while we were there trying to have a nice wedding ceremony. Drink order was wrong from bar. The staff are pleasant when anything brought to their attention, but attention to details and follow through would be better.

Exclusive hotel in front of the beach. Lost to do around.

I thought that the Christmas Buffet was good but I object to the fact that I was charged extra for coffee and one glass of champagne. These items should be included in the rather high price of the buffet. I usually go to the Drake Hotel in Chicago which includes coffee and champagne and a greater variety of food for a lower price. Guess the RItz is not marketing to a return trade!

Our hotel non-smoking hotel room reeked of cigarette smoke, our bedding smelled like spoiled fish and the concierge staff had no idea what they were doing.

My husband and I were celebrating our honeymoon and after 14 hours of travel we arrive around 10:45pm and were exhausted. We were only staying at the Ritz for the night, since our final destination was Vieques Island.

Upon checking in, we asked for information regarding the ferry to Vieques, which we fully researched prior to our arrival. Both people at the front desk assured us that we could make the 1pm ferry from Farjado to Vieques and we would need to leave not later than 11am. My husband and I were relieved since we both were sleep deprived and needed more than a few hours of shut eye.

Upon arriving to our room, we noticed the bathroom smelled extremely strong of cigarette smoke. We excused the smell since we were only staying there one night, ordered some room service and settled in for the night.

As soon as we pulled the comforter back, our bedding smelled like a mixture of rotten fish and manure. We were both so disgusted we yanked it back. At this time it was already about midnight and I was too upset to even try and call the front desk, wait for them to send house keeping up to change our bedding or move us to another room. Again, we excused the disgusting smell, since it was only one night.

We woke up with our clothes smelling like our bedding, got ready in our cigarette smelling bathroom and figured we would wander the property and grab some breakfast, since we had a couple hours to spare.

To be safe, we checked with the concierge to arranged a transportation pickup from the hotel to Farjado. We didn't want to risk being stuck at the Ritz any longer than needed. We informed the concierge that we needed a ride to the ferry since we were staying in Vieques and she immediately said "Vieques is not for tourists. If you wanted to make the ferry you would have had to have been in Farjado at 7:30am." I immediately freaked out! It was 9:30am, well passed the "7:30am" travel time and I feared we would be stuck on San Juan. We asked what options we had and she told us "You may be able to get the ferry but you are not a resident, so they can kick you off. You will not be able to get to Vieques." We then asked what other options we had and she said "you can maybe check the airport." She didn't give us the name of the airport or any information at all. Since we were already panicked, we ran up to our stinky room, collected our belongings and bolted downstairs to catch a taxi to Farjado.

The whole taxi ride there I was basically in tears from all the stress and incorrect information the staff at the Ritz had provided us.

Thankfully the concierge was wrong. We were able to get on the basically empty ferry and make it to our final destination, not without much unnecessary stress, frustration and anxiety.

My husband and I travel quite frequently, and NEVER have we had such a awful hotel stay.

DO NOT stay at the Ritz unless your enjoy sleeping in a room that smells like fish farts and smoke.

Excellent stay. Great staff. Excellent bed. Only downside was the poor quality sound isolation in the rooms. That could certainly be improved upon, but other than that, it was a great stay!!

So close to the airport. Excellent staff. Kids club for 4 and up.

Need update, carpet smells, service ok staff friendly

My family stayed there during Hurricane Irma and the staff took really good care of us. They took excellent safety measures before the storm hit us by moving us to higher floors. They served us breakfast, lunch and dinner. Unlike other hotels in the area, there were no power outages.

They even brought a birthday cafe for my little niece. Thank u so much Nina! The general manager and the staff came to wave us goodbyes.

I highly recommend this awesome hotel.

Great place, excellent service, very friendly staff, beautiful beach. Coffee amazing. One thing that most hotels don't offer and they do here is that the pool is open all night and jacuzzi too.

Easily accessible from the airport, amenities are perfect, service is 5 star
