At best this was a mid-level Marriott, and at $945 a night not worth 10% of that price. Rooms: Very dated, like from the 1970s. Wait staff on the beach was less than helpful. When they did actually help you, they acted as if you were a burden to them. Not all of them, but definitely some of them. Drinks: $18 for a drink seems a bit steep. The beach was very crowded as was the pool area. I wouldn't pay more than $100 a night.

Hotel was fine..but DO NOT take the taxi's that are at the hotel. Complete RIPOFF!!! The taxi's overcharge and quote a different price each ride. The driver told us thirty dollars and when the ride ended he stated $35.00 and claimed he never said $30.00. The hotel will tell you they do not have Uber. The hotel is not telling you the truth so you can use there over priced taxi service. Uber is in Puerto Rico, but you have to meet the Uber off of there premises. The Uber is SOOOO much cheaper than the hotel taxi. The Uber was cheaper to the airport than the taxi. DO NOT TAKE TAXI's from the Ritz-Carlton San Juan.

I stayed there from 12/26/16 till 12/31/16, A couple things I want to point out. The IL MULINO restaurant way over priced, not even close to NYC worst Italian restaurant and then they have the audacity to ask for a Captain tip are you INSANE!!!! Staff was amazing but always had there hand out, not to mention a $500.00 resort fee at end. Entertainment NONE!!!! I mean come on you go to PR for the culture and music & weather. One night they had three women singing old spanish songs with no instruments horrible and embarrassing. The hotel manager who arranged this should ask herself WHY??? Ive stayed at the Ritz Carlton In Hawaii KAPALUA, MAUI. The Hotel manager there knows how to run a hotel and entertainment. Needless to say the management needs to be retrained... NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!

Planned a nice 5 day family vacation at the Ritz ...

Planned a nice 5 day family vacation at the Ritz Carlton San Juan. Booked our trip through American Express and looked at hotel site to check out all the amenities. I called prior to our booking and spoke with Ritz Carlton hotel directly. Had questions as far as pool/beach/restaurants/ etc. We wanted to make sure pools were kid friendly, as our daughter has a slight fear of the ocean. All I got for an answer was yes. It would have been reasonable and respectable of them at that time to inform me pool would be closed during a portion of our stay. Day 3/5 no more pool!!! Upon arrival however, they even offered to "upgrade" our room at an additional fee of $100 per night. Told us it would offer better views with "fantastic pool view and ocean." Still failed to mention we would be watching construction rather than this supposed nice pool view. Obviously, we wouldn't have chosen not to upgrade had we known we'd be watching construction. Hotel didn't seem to have care or concern when they put a huge damper on our family vacation which we worked hard to plan and pay for. I will be sure all of my family and friends will all hear about the awful experience we had at the Ritz Carlton San Juan. We will never refer anyone there due to the lack of communication to there consumers who pay a lot to enjoy a family vacation. #unhappycustomer #badcustomerservice #SAYNOTORITZCARLTON

We only visited the Casino. We did not stay at this hotel. The staff at the casino were amazing! Very friendly and social and interactive. It took some time for the waiter/waitresses to come around to offer drinks one night but the Craps table staff would send for one so that helped a lot! Was a fantastic and fun time!

Great hotel. Very nice pool, large casino, good bars and excellent restaurants available on the property. In addition to all this, there are couple shops where you can buy jewelry and high end watches. Staff is very friendly.

We had an amazing time!!! Friendly staffs! Location was excellent and offers many amenities. The rooms were large, the view was great, the beach was fantastic and we loved the Ritz pools. The restaurants were also amazing. Most definitely, we're going back next year. I highly recommend this property.

We leave tomorrow and overall it's been a good trip. The staff was friendly and helpful when we checked in and the effort on Easter was great, but went downhill after that. The pool staff is a little hit or miss but certainly improves with good tips. Be sure to go to the pool or beach early to reserve a good spot. The breakfast buffet is yummy but be aware the price increases by $10 for the hot items. Really enjoyed our dinner at BLT. Our dinner at IL Mulino started of great but the service ruined it, and I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt. If you are going to spend $300+ on dinner, you expected to be treated better than we were. I was so upset we didn't even stay for dessert. Of all the Ritz-Carlton's I have stayed at, this one is definitely on the lower end. Needs updating but is really family friendly and makes for a nice vacation.

My stay at the Ritz Carlton was very good, however, if you stay at this hotel chain frequently you may find it does not quite meet the standard you are accustomed to. The employees are very helpful and friendly, but the property is in need of an overhaul.

Found the place very nice. Clean, super nice and friendly staff. Place is quiet and in an area where isn't very busy. Which is the reason why we picked it. We stayed in la concha the two days prior and is totally the opposite. So if you have the chance to visit here is a good idea to stay in a quiet place and a busy one. There Ritz is close (12$ can ride) to the airport, plane noise isn't an issue. Food at the pool bar is great. They got five restaurants for all types of food you like. Some expensive some not. Very relaxing place for spending the day by the beach, or pool. I would return for sure, didn't find anything we didn't like.

Gorgeous resort that is clean with friendly staff. The views are amazing and the pool is top notch. While this is a family friendly resort, most are couples. The breakfast and lunch (which we always got poolside) was delicious but pricey. Definitely plan ahead and find restaurants outside the resort for dinner. Downtown San Juan is just a short cab ride away. Can t wait to go back!

This place is nice, but expect to pay 2 to 3 times the price of anything elsewhere... Not just the price of the hotel rooms but everything from clothing to alchohol and anything else that can be purchased will set you back far and away what you would pay anywhere else... Here is a typical example.. A shot of king Louis costs about 150.00 anywhere else in the free world but here they choose to charge a whopping 375.00!!! Unreal!!! They charge you extra just for the sake of charging extra... Besides this place is BORING with zero energy, and the waitstaff are slow and act like they are doing you a favor to serve you anything... My advice, if you are stuck in Puerto Rico, go to the Caribe Hilton, a far better choice for your money!!!

We went for a salsa congress, and even with an over booked hotel we had an special experience. The room is a classical Ritz elegant room, very spacious and comfortable. We had an extra friend who crashed in our room some nights and they put an extra bed for her plus all the utilities. The swimming pool is great and the bar around it has very tasty food and drinks. Moreover, you have direct access to the beach and you can bring some hotel stuff in order to make your stay more confortable

Great beach and pool. Drinks and food are expensive and good but not amazing. The free coffee is strictly only until 8:30 am and sometimes they remove it before that time. The elevator key card system is a bit annoying. And if you ask for a late checkout be prepared for your key to not work and for an escort to possible help you get to where you need. It is nice but there are a few fixes out there.

This Ritz is the PITS!!!

This Ritz is the PITS!!!

Good god. This hotel.... I'm not sure where these 5 star reviews are coming from.... I've traveled to many many places in the carribean and this place is TERRIBLE!!!! It's only getting 2 stars because of the wait staff at the Italian restaurant who were wonderful and made my nephew feel extra special (which they should for $160 meal for a child and an adult)

1.) so close to the airport that the jet engines set off car alarms in the parking lot.
2.) after 6pm the rude beach staff rides around on an ATV to kick you off your lounge chair and pack it away for the night. Really? 6pm? The sun hasn't even gone down yet.
3.) while the pool area is "non-smoking" it is not enforced. Staff told the man sitting next to us who was smoking a cigar that he couldn't smoke by the pool. He continued to smoke his cigar and the staff didn't do anything further. My 11 year old nephew, who has asthma, and I had to leave the pool area because of this.
4.) Could the hallway on the 9th floor be any more dated/dirty looking?
5.) Never came and cleaned our room the first day we were here. Had to go to the front desk and request that they please clean our room everyday. Should you really even have to ask?

It just baffles my mind how this place is even considered a Ritz Carlton.
