I moved to Richmond last year from N.Va where I received excellent service from BMW Fairfax. After a 3 year relationship with them I was hoping to build one with Richmond BMW. Sadly, RIchmond BMW and I are not going to make it as a couple.
I went in because my check engine light was on and i needed an oil change. After 3 visits to the shop, I left with the check engine light still on but I did get an oil change. However, when I left I was given a list of other issues with no explanation!!! That's cool, they were busy...I get it. But after I got home, I read the details and saw that they wrote that my 2 rear tires were too dangerous to drive on because the chord was exposed! No heads-up or hey you might want to get this done because it is too hazardous to drive on (while i was actually there). As I explained to them, I would have replaced the tires when I was doing the oil change. So I go back and get that done. As I'm driving back home on 7-3-19, I hear a rustling under my car and noticed that the engine shield was dragging. With the holiday coming up, I contact the service rep and advise that I'm bringing it back in on 7-5-19. When I get there today he questioned why I didn't turn back around immediately and bring it back. Honestly, that's a good question. I informed him that I had a podcast to do (trust that I will discuss these experiences in greater detail on my podcast, reviews on other sites and a contact to their corporate offices) and had more time on Friday. However, he implied that I had done the damage myself and couldn't imagine that his technician didn't secure the engine shield back after the work was done. That being said, they did secure the engine shield back-which is all I wanted. So would I recommend them to a friend? No, absolutely not. Is it the worst dealership as some other reviewers have mentioned? No. I've dealt with worst but I expected better from a BMW dealership. And the employees are genuinely nice. Would I recommend you go somewhere else. Yes. I think they are trying to do the right thing but they don't seem capable at this point and time. I can't see building a relationship with them and that is what you want with someone who is servicing your vehicle.
p.s. Strangely, I noticed on the 2nd page of the invoice sheet that the online rep was advised not to text me anymore after I asked for the name of the GM (Pamela Guardino) so I could contact her and include her name in my reviews and contact with corporate. Not sure what that was about but strange....

Best Car Dealership experience we have ever had! We are out of state in NC and had to make a decision sight unseen and figure everything out to a "T" before we made the trek to VA. We had Steve Lerner as our Salesman and he went above and beyond for us, as well as the rest of the staff there! They went over all the steps prior to us leaving to head to VA and we felt that we could trust their word, even with us trading a vehicle. The managers were very friendly and honest, and they didn't come across as arrogant as many do... So we made the drive!!
One thing I need to mention is how fairly priced they are and competitively. I was use to "Haggling" with car salesman but was refreshed that they were a "Haggle Free" business model and had it priced where it should be. It did make me nervous that it was too good to be true but it was not, this Toyota Sienna goes for $24-26K and we are ECSTATIC that we were able to meet this team and give them our business! Steve went above and beyond!
Steve was waiting for our arrival and took wonderful care of us. He was quick, polite and not underhanded that you would expect from most car dealerships. They were high class and very professional!
Everything went as expected and better! We did all the paperwork and the deal before ever driving the vehicle knowing that they were trustworthy and everything was explained on the site and in person.
Before leaving with our new baby Steve went step by step over most of the features in the Sienna to ensure that we left happy and knowing which knob was the wiper vs. headlights, etc. He also went over the Entertainment system and engine.
The experience at BMW of Richmond VA was above 5 stars and we wish that they were local and we could send all of the locals there! We will definitely consider the drive again to put our trust into their dealership.
Even the days after we were back home with our Sienna, I received multiple courtesy calls (Which I was nervous that they were going to take back my new beauty) but they just wanted to check on us and see how we were loving our new car!! The manager also called to do the same!
We are VERY pleased with their work and highly recommend them to all who are looking for their next new to them or new car! :)

Thorough, and quick to show me EVERYTHING wrong with the vehicle! Within 15 minutes they spotted 2 separate oil leaks and damage to my tires that could cause issue down the road. I wish I would've had these guys inspect the vehicle before I bought it; but that's my poor life choices. Still think I got a good deal on the used X3 from the third party seller, I just wish I would've had these repair estimates before I bought it though. After two days of treatment at MCV Massey we pulled away from valet parking only to have a warning indicator come on that said drivetrain malfunction. We were an hour away from our home and leaving Richmond for Charlottesville to recuperate and enjoy a little Thanksgiving time together. It was 4:30 p.m. when we called the service department and even though they closed at 5 p.m., they said that if we could get the car there prior to closing they would at least test it to see the code. We were just a few minutes away and rolled in around 4:40. They were preparing to give us a loaner if need be...I mean, who does that? It's hard to get one from a dealer that you actually purchased a car from and have a history with. As it turned out, it was a hundred dollar part that they replaced in a matter of minutes. The service was exceptional. In a matter of a few minutes they had us on our way and wait for it..........they did not charge us a dime. Absolutely unheard of. Thanks so much Richmond BMW, and to Matt Rooney and Thomas Gemellaro. Your prefessional service and kindness gave us much to be grateful for during this holiday season. You guys were out of loaners so Scott called the rental company down the street and within 10 minutes on a cold icy day, my shuttle was there. They took me to the rental location and I was out of there in 5 minutes. Scott called me to let me know my car was ready that afternoon and my car was serviced and also washed, which was completely unexpected given the weather.

By far the worse costumer service I've experienced in 10 years with BMW. I dropped my car off at 1130PM. I requested an oil change and to have them look into if my suspension needed repair. I was told it wild be about an an hour. It's 515PM and I'm still waiting for my vehicle. When I called BMW at 345 they hadn't even started looking at my car and I couldn't get a ballpark time frame when my vehicle would be ready. Also when I called my representative wasn't available and I requested they call me back, I waited an hour and didn't receive any sort of call back. I won't be coming back to Richmond BMW. I will take my business to the other BMW dealership across town, it's unfortunate because I really was looking into leasing a vehicle.

I tend to never leave these kind of responses due to if I am not interested in the car there is no need or any fault of the dealership. This time though that would be the opposite. I visited the dealership and had the worst experience I have ever had at a dealership. Keep in mind that I have visited fifteen other dealerships in total for the search for the Mustang that I am looking to purchase. It started with the short responses from I am assuming the salesman that was tasked for greeting people out in the parking lot. When I interacted with the salesman he did not seem interested in selling me the car was short and rude with responses. Gave me responses such as do you really want the car are you going to purchase it today. These were questions and responses that I had received before I was even able to look at the car fully or test drive it, which is another matter or concern. They brought the car around for me to look at and as I believed to test drive. I was wrong the sales person barely let me look over the car and seemed bothered when I asked him any questions about the vehicle. I then asked if I could test drive the car he stated due to the nature of the car they did not offer test drives. This shocked me as I have been able to test drive ever other vehicle I have went to see and the value of the vehicles being well beyond the value of this car. I then just assumed that he thought I was not serious and was there for a joy ride in the car. I then asked if I could not drive it then could someone else drive the vehicle so I could at least make sure nothing mechanical was wrong in no way was I going to buy a car without seeing it drive, even though I still found this not of the norm I was denied this as well. At this point my interest was lost and not due to the car itself but due to the way I was treated. I am guessing the salesman assumed I was not serious about the purchase or could not afford the purchase, the Mustang that was being sold was actually far lower than the previous Mustangs I have been looking at and had even mentioned this to the salesperson that it was between this and a 2019 which is valued at 38,000 I would have not come to the dealership unless I was fully prepared to purchase this vehicle. I had been approved by my bank to make this purchase I do not know if this is a common practice but the sales person asked me multiple times how much I was approved for, I do not see why anyone would go to a dealership and not have the money to purchase a car it is a waste of their time and a waste of the dealerships time. In conclusion my time was wasted and in the end the vehicle was not the reason I left the dealership that day it was the attitude of the staff. I would steer clear of this dealership.

The good: Chris Verdicchio in the service department was great to work with. He was professional, responsive, and acted as an advocate for me in what has been a frustrating 3 week issue. Chris gets 5 out of 5 stars for the service he provided me.
The bad: my vehicle was disabled due to the idler pulley bolt snapping, which is under recall. The technician who was working on the car simply replaced the part, (another defective part because BMW has not completed the redesigned part yet) but apparently did not check for any additional damage that might have been caused by a pulley bolt snapping and the serpentine belt flying off. Our car was returned to us in a condition that was not safe for driving. We called right away and were told to drive around and see if it worked itself out. It did not, and so we had to take it back again for service. After receiving a call the next day from an unknown service rep (Not Chris), we were told it would be $300+ for diagnostics. I proceeded to inform them that the car was driving perfectly until the idler pulley snapped, and was told that they would check with the foreman. Thankfully Chris called me back a couple hours later to inform me that they found another major issue that was caused by the failure of the defective/recalled part.
Additionally, they recommended that we needed a new battery because our battery died during our whole ordeal (serpentine belt flew off as a result of the idler pulley bolt snapping, which caused the alternator not to charge, etc.) so they recommended a $450 battery at my own expense, but after they jumped it and the alternator ran, the battery worked fine for the short time we had it between visits. I think they were just looking for a cash grab since they had to do free work due to a recall (and they will have to again at some point in the future since the new part is not yet available).
Full disclosure, a lot of my disappointment is with BMW corporate, who has been terrible to deal with. But the fact that the technician working on my car could recommend $1,600 worth of non-essential work but didn't run a proper diagnostic of my engine issues caused by a failure of a part under recall is disturbing.

I was introduced to the tech, a very knowledgeable and polite young man; his name is eluding me. The combo made sure that my car's air conditioner was fixed, so we didn't have to return back to Georgia with the windows down. Usually have good experiences with BMW on Broad. My wife and I have purchased and serviced three BMW's from them in the past. However, back in October 2016 I had problems starting my vehicle. Explained the issue with the service tech who later recommended a new starter. According to the tech, starters usually go bad around 120K miles. I only had 66K miles on the vehicle. Still, I agreed to have the starter replaced because of their recommendation. Charge was $1K. Within a couple of days the exact same starting issue happened again. Fearing that I might be charged for something even more costly, I began to drive the vehicle more often than usual (almost everyday for a couple of weeks) to see if it got better. It didn't but eventually got worse. Had enough dealing with the issue and took the vehicle back to BMW who said it was the battery. So I had the battery replaced. Oh by the way, no charge for the new battery only because the previous battery was under warranty since it was less than 2 yrs old with only 20,000 miles that I had installed back in Dec 2014 by BMW on Broad ($500). When I questioned why I needed the starter in the first place since it DIDN'T FIX the problem at all, the service tech tried to justify it. I'm not buying his justification especially after speaking with several mechanics and the described symptoms.

My intent is to simply relay my experience and let the reader judge for themselves. I ve heard the saying that Someone who is given good customer service will tell 10 people, but, if they are given bad customer service, they will tell 100. Well, If you re reading this, you are part of my 100. I came across the listing for a 2013 Porsche Cayenne GTS w/ only 35k miles for $36450. Great price for that mileage.
They have a feature on the site called PUSHSTART, a way to begin the purchase process online. I chose this option in order to get a jump on the competition as I didn t think it would last long at that price.
Here s a summary of the offer I was given from Richmond BMW s own website using their own buying tool:

A disclaimer advised that actual trade in value would be finalized by a vehicle inspection, so I assumed that number had the potential to be slightly massaged one way or the other, ok, no big deal. Continuing on through buying tool, it finished with the following offer:

The next morning, I called Richmond BMW first thing to lock down (my term) the car with a deposit until I could arrive on site with my trade. I began dealing with Eve Eden, Internet Sales Manager. She advised she could place a hold on the car with a $500 deposit which I was more than happy to do. She then asked how I was buying the car. I immediately noticed a let down in her voice when I mentioned a trade and financing of the difference. It seemed almost as if she was disappointed I wasn t using cash. Her tone with me changed and from that point requested we communicate only via text. I took that as she didn t want to be bothered. She did send me a trade-in form to fill out as well as a link to a credit app. I filled out the trade from again and after some time, got the following offer sheet:

Sales price subtotal: $37,149.00
Trade Allowance: $21,000.00

Noteworthy here is the addition of Resistall , an unnecessary paint protector (just wax) for 700 bucks!! and the expanded Tag/Title fee of $458, up from $88 on online offer sheet. I m from NC, so it should be $134 but not nitpicking. Although a difference of $4000 might not make the cash buyers Eve Eden would rather deal with blink, its a he** of a lot of money to a working class schlub like me. So upon my insistence that they honor the offer from their own company s buying tool, she advises me that her GM is working a deal with another client for the very car I requested, and thought I paid for a hold on, and that she would Let me know how it goes ..
So people, PLS be aware of the unprofessional sales practices you may encounter as I did at Richmond BMW and keep your wits about you.

Slow service, poor quality of work, and it seems everyone is incapable of genuinely apologizing for their obvious mistakes. He was very attentive and he understood what I wanted in a car and did not waste anytime in finding the right car for me. Had a great experience at Richmond BMW. I had a lot of very specific options and color combinations, but my Sales consultant Jessie Krack was very patient. She was able to find the exact car I wanted, and for a price significantly less than the competitors. I was at the dealership for maybe 1.5 hrs the first day, did a lot via email and text thereafter, and picked up my new car a week later. Thanks to Jessie and the folks at Richmond BMW, I got my perfect new X3 with no stress and at a great price.

He worked many days in the hot sun showing me all the choices in upgrades and possibilities that BMW had to offer. He wanted me to take my time before I made the final decision. And believe me, I took about two weeks making up my mind. He was right there to give me good advice on those choices. Consequently, I love my car! Thinking that once I signed the contract it would be over....I was wrong.

Their Service Department is full of VERY BAD LIARS. I was told it would 2 hours of labor to remove my bumper and replace my turn signal assemblies. When I questioned my bumper being unaligned after the repair I was told they didn't have to take the bumper to change the turn signal housing. Then instead of just admitting the truth, lied and tried to make up some BS about it still taking the same amount of time like I'm a F'ing moron. To make matters worse, my headlight when out when they had the car and were unwilling to take responsibility. I will NEVER take my car back to them. There are 5 other BMW service shops in the Westend, and I will take my business elsewhere! #NEVERAGAIN

I called on Friday afternoon and was lucky to have Steve Lerner as my salesperson. I live 2 hours from Richmond so he held the car for me until 10:30 am Saturday. I ve lost all respect for BMW and specifically this group. I ve called two times to discuss the numerous problems with a vehicle I bought here and I can t get a call back. I sent an inquiry about another purchase and I get bombarded with calls, texts and emails. I highly recommend you have a third party thoroughly inspect any used vehicle you consider buying from these guys. Mine leaked water and had a cracked gas tank before purchase. I took the vehicle to a local international repair shop and the list of problems discovered cost thousands of dollars. They either covered up these problems or were negligent in their diligence. Both are wrong. I ve purchased about 20 cars over the years and this is by far the worst vehicle I ve ever owned. All sales no service.
