Sonya Canfield takes it upon herself to diagnose things at the first visit and prescribe medicine which is not medically necessary. This person didn't even know me yet felt she could attach diagnoses to my name. What a joke. DON"T COME TO CANFIELD PRACTITIONER. In the process of getting these medical records rebutted by a real Dr instead of this whack slander pushed by Sonya. I may request these records be destroyed as these are far from true and i was misdiagnosed. Sonya should be ashamed of herself.

Dr. Lawless is amazing and when he can't be contacted by phone his assistant gets your questions to him and answered very promptly. I see Kandi for therapy and often go in thinking what could we possible discuss/go over today that I haven't already faced... well she makes therapy sessions very easy and we always run out of time before we are done with topic. She knows her therapy and practices it very well. The Rice Clinic is very recommendable!

Sonya Canfield dismissed my needs and literally put me in the hospital December 2019. I almost overdosed and was so much medication I did not need, but instead of taking me off, she added to what she prescribed and made me feel like I was crazy. Instead of listening to me, she wrote an RX, sent me out asap before I could even talk. I'm so thankful I took myself off everything, however, during this time I was unable to finish my Doctorate degree because I was so sick and in the hospital multiple times due to all the unnecessary medication I was on. I have never been treated so inhumanly. This was by far a nightmare and was misdiagnosed. I ended up getting 3 different doctors to review my diagnosis and all of them said it was absurd, dangerous and surprised I was still alive. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!!!!

I saw dr rice 2 times and he tthreatened to discontinue my care cause his little assistant/clerk got her feelings hurt cause she thought I was hollering at her. Well that was not true. I was trying to get him to change my meds cause They were making me vomit so he insisted on upping the dose instead of taking me off. So I was in tears cause he did not want to help me. He told me I needed electric shock therapy only after seeing me twice. That's pretty harsh and far out there don't ya think. So he sent me to babtist hospital to see if I needed it. Yes I went and glad I did. Cause dr rice instead of seeing me more before making assumptions that I was bipolar. I found outiwas indeed not bipolar which is why the meds never worked. I knew I had the wrong diagnosis when I came to him. So he went by what some other dr diagnosed me with instead of diagnosing me his self. I am borderline personality not bipolar. So I never went to him again and don't recommend him to anyone else

I called 1 day before my appointment to inform them that I had to cancel. My wife had lost her job because the business she had worked for closed down bc of Covid-19. I recieved a cancellation bill of $50 after having left a message explaining my predicament. I'm beyond furious!! This is not a good business practice!!

Sonya Canfield has no idea what she s talking about. Huge quack. She made me feel very uncomfortable and was very condescending. Was really looking forward to visiting the rice clinic but I was majorly dissatisfied.

I highly recommend this place, please read my entire review before deciding to go or not!! I've seen 2 of the psychiatrists here. The first one helped me get on the right path, I will forever be grateful to him. But when he took another job they brought in a new psychiatrist. Dr Washington. She is so caring, positive, listens, sincerely loves helping people. She also will answer any of my questions about my meds and diagnosis. She is not the kind of doctor that will rush you in and out. The atmosphere there is very nice. The waiting room feels comfortable and the staff is friendly. The offices don't feel like you're in a cold environment, more like cozy. On the outside you wouldn't know it was a mental health clinic and it's off the main street so I feel like you have privacy. You wouldn't have to worry about someone driving by and seeing you go there if you were worried about that. But it's easy to find and it's so pretty there. The parking lot has a slope to it but there is a drop off area. Also I know they say they are "christian based" however nobody has ever tried to force religion on me. I briefly told my doctor and therapist where I stood about religion and they didn't make me feel bad about anything. So it's more like they want to try to apply Bible principles such as love, care, understanding, patience. To be able to help you feel happier and get you where you want to be mentally. The clinic seems to have high standards for their psychiatrists and therapists which makes me have confidence in my choice to continue treatment here and to recommend to anyone else that needs help to call. I truly do not know where I would be if I had not found this place which is why my review is so long.

I'm very pleased with this Rice Clinic. It is quiet, personal and private. I really feel safe when we go.
I love Dr. Abeer Washington who was my primary purpose for using this Clinic and we have had much success.
The office staff members are very helpful and courteous!!!
Great office. Doug is an excellent counselor for youth!!!

Rice Clinic has very carefully adjusted medications whereas past doctors over-medicated. She addressed medication-resistant attitude with alternative med option, but best yet, once within medicated range, she Quickly called out fake fit-throwing as a behavioral choice. No more taking advantage, no more subpar treatment of family members-it is time to ADULT. And likewise, no more family-enabling the faux-helplessness (24/7 drain) of constant provoking and fit-throwing. The gig is up.Seriously! Thankful and grateful for crystal-clear truth told vs the Hades of impossible-to-tell symptoms from behavioral choices. Praise God!

It's been quite some time since I've seen a psychiatrist due to some pretty bad experiences, most just whip out a RX pad and start writing away, leaving you worse than before you came.

The Rice Clinic is not like this, I can only speak for Dr. Rice, but he genuinely cares and listens, he makes you feel valued, and isn't there to write a laundry list of unneeded RX's, but he is there to help. As for the office staff, they care as well, and are more than willing to work with patients that may need a payment plan and what not, and all of them are as nice as can be.

If you're looking for your average,"how many patients can I fit into a day" psychiatrist that's just there for the money and to leave you drooling on yourself. The Rice Clinic isn't for you. If you're looking for help and a doctor and staff that care, I recommend The Rice Clinic over anyone else out there.

first and last time I will go here for my mental health needs since I was 100x worse after I left I saw Sonya Cranfield the nurse practitioner who basically crippled what self esteem I even have. She said I choose not to follow through with therapy since I relocate yearly for my job. This has been a challenge to get continued care but the way she stated was very condescending. I already have extremely low self esteem and body image issues to the point my daily battle with an eating disorder is the main reason why I go to mental health providers. Anyone that battles and ED understands how detrimental comments about our bodies can be. I would think a mental health provider would certainly know this. But according to the woman nurse practitioner who within 10 minutes of meeting me the first time AFTER telling her I have an ED and body image issues she states "you're so skinny ...very skinny...you look sickly".

I can't even elaborate and make it clear how this comment impacted not only the entire appointment but weeks following. Not only did the self destruction increase into overdrive but the obsession about the way I looked almost caused me to hospitalized. See the only thing I heard was once again I wasn't good enough at a place I was supposed to feel comfortable and safe I was made to feel self conscious about my body by the person who was supposed to "help" me. Obviously she has zero experience with ED because she would know it's not about being fat. I know I'm not fat. It's wanting to be thinner. She also seemed to think I was OCD because I answered if I was In the middle of cleaning and a friend called me to go out would I stay and clean or would I join my friend. I would finish cleaning. Evidently because I wouldn't drop everything I was doing to join the first person to want to make plans that makes me OCD. In the end I walk out with a new rx, new diagnosis And the eating disorder that I M trying to get help for not only wasn't ever addressed but my body, looks and weight was ridiculed. Not sure if this is a new style of treatment but if it is then it's not for me. If you do go here I HIGHLY suggest you see an actual doctor and not a nurse. If you're suicidal she probably will hand you the gun. Zero professionalism, empathy or sensitivity to issues that are life threatening to some. She needs to change professions because the condescending, I'm better than you attitude and ridiculing patients already sensative needs is going to cause serious harm someday. On a positive note her comment did make me lose 3 pounds and motivated me to completely fast on water and chicken broth for 7 days. So I'm now 5'6 and 94pounds. So thanks!!
