A truly special one that tasted unique in a dose of unprecedented Flavors and Odors.
A wonderful experience, remembers the old days.
nice food using local ingredients, excellent service
Wonderful food, wonderful service. Full package full ten!
The atmosphere, service and taste are really good too.
Ok ok christmas lunch. Place a little anemic, courtyard
Absolutely fantastic experience. Best to set aside a lot of time.
Eating at Olo is not just dinner, it is a life experience - and you need to reserve some time for it. Usually dinner lat a couple of hours, might be longer depending on your pace and the menu you choose (which you can choose with or without wine). The amazing food is distributed among multiple (15-20) curses, with carefully chosen (mainly Finnish) ingredients and wonderfully looking preparation. Professional service, quiet atmosphere, elegant setting but no dress code.
During the last couple of visits food has been pretty bland and service indifferent (once even a bit rude).
A restaurant with a polite customer service and polite taste. This is the place to go if you come to Helsinki. I was not good with goat's milk and lamb, but both were on the menu on the day, but I coped with other ingredients. It was for lunch, but I definitely wanted to go for dinner (^ ^)
Superb experience! The food, the staff, the wines and the non-alcoholic drinks were all great and interesting.
Very intimate atmosphere and the simplified scandinavian decor focuses your attention to the food that is served and explained to you buy chefs from the kitchen.
A lot of focus is put on the wine as well, but I tried the non-alcoholic option since it seemed much more interesting. All the drinks are made in the restaurant and combine some wild ingredients. Cowberry, fennel and dill juice for example. Great option if you don't drink alcohol or you just have had enough of wines.
This was my first true fine dining experience and I will definitely continue exploring it after this great experience.
Amazing place that deserves 2 Michelin stars (they have 1). Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating, including to dietary restrictions. Quite a fun experience. Definitely worth recommending. I did the 4pm summer menu - perfect and not too stuffed! Lovely pairing and combinations of Nordic and it s natural ingredients with fine dining.
Inventive Finnish cuisine, attentive staff and beautiful food.
A very warm atmosphere, the milieu was elegant Finnish, with wonderful and very interesting flavors, real experiences. Very good service, which made me feel welcome. I recommend.
What a sensational meal! Each dish could have made for an unforgettable entree by itself.
You ve got to be supremely confident of your abilities to make bread and butter a course by itself mid-way through a degustation. And boy, was it justified!
Meal was complemented by brilliant service.
They are worth their Michelin star, that's for sure. Clever dishes with Nordic inspiration and ingredients. The atmosphere is fine dining but not too up-tight. As usual with this kind of dining, do reserve the time to enjoy properly. 3 hours is just enough for the tasting menu. It not just about great food but also the joy of new culinary experiences.
Their website describes the experience as a gastronomic journey which is quite right; it s all about the best ingredients and clean, modern flavors. We opted for the shorter tasting menu, The Path, which comprised of several rounds of More
It s amazing. If you wanna try how a forest taste like.. try one of their mocktails. I m in love with it!
Food is great.
Wasn t a fan of cheese platter tho at all.
Also I think it would ve been Amazing If they d add some interesting teas on the menu.
Loved the food, experience and atmosphere. Staff work hard to make you feel welcome, and are attentive through out the meal. Wine pairing was well matched. We d certainly go back.
Food, service, atmosphere, everything was great. Pricy but worth it!
A good value for money food tour, a perfect fusion of molecular cuisine and Nordic cuisine
Creative, adventurous dishes cooked to perfection. Too many courses so really struggled my way through the last desserts. I would give an option for a shorter menu. Staff attentive friendly. Passionate sommelier and decent wine list. I highly recommend.
A beautiful quiet restaurant in the historic part of the city. The dinner, called "journey", consists of 15 different dishes served over the course of 3 hours. Each of them is unique and delicious, and all of the ingredients are locally sourced. I would strongly recommend this place if you are looking for a luxurious romantic dinner with your partner.
The tasting menu is basically what it says ... a trip, a long one, but entertaining, intense, impressive, where expectations are exceeded ... they are pure flavors from Finnish roots. The product they use and their cooking techniques are taken care of to the millimeter. I ate 17 dishes .. and I didn't come out bloated .. but they were satiated and with a feeling of having enjoyed something unique. The attentive, friendly, smiling service ... apart from the wines, I decided to take the pairing of juices ... if they are juices ... but special, different ... forest flavors, unique blends and combinations that we would never have thought of ... He has entered my top through the big door.
Amazing experience at Olo... Inventive and local food, with fresh and premium products.
Be prepared to be surprised by this place and it's perfect service.
Do not miss the coffee at the end, it's an attraction itself !
It was really surprising time here !
I never tried before kitchen like food.
The style of meals are absolutely .... Great.
If you are looking for something different, really different, you have to go there.
Not so impressed. I had a vegan menu, which unfortunately seemed quite underdeveloped. Their juice menu was nice & the service was very friendly and attentive however.
We sat at the chefs counter and had a wonderful time, the food was all incredible and interesting, and we loved watching the chef's work. I didn't do the full wine pairing as it was a bit expensive, but the drinks I did have were excellent and went well with the food. My wife got the non-alcoholic pairing, which was fun and delicious. The staff was very welcoming and nice. We had a great time, would recommend!
Doses like works of art, but the taste of the world may still be a slight disappointment.
All in all, a nicely executed domesticity, taking into account the seasons.
The food was really good and domestic. Staff nice and friendly. I highly recommend.
Perfect from start to finish. An excellent gluten free diet.
I'm not a frequent Michelin starred restaurant visitor, but so far Olo was the worst one to me. We took a Winter menu and it was an ugly mix of incongruous dishes. We were served in a utility style room on the left - no atmosphere at all. And all the waiters were masked, although they are not obliged to wear face muzzles in Finland.
The experience and dinner at OLO Restaurant (2018) was definitely between the 3 best in my life !!!! (I have tried out several michelin and special restaurants so far).... Anyway - The feeling, the waiters and the dishes - PERFECT!!!! Thanks a lot!
The trip was really successful, hard to imagine without visiting
Dishes were beautiful, playfully composed and cleverly inspired by nature. Very enjoyable in a smart yet relaxed setting. Allow around 3-4 hours for the staff to guide you through an delightful culinary experience!
Note that there are different menu options to have Champagne/wine pairing with your meal or not, as well as the option to add in a delicious cheese course for an extra fee.
Highly recommended and was the highlight of my trip to Helsinki!
All in all incredible flavors and drinks! The Prestige beverage package is indeed an entertaining addition to flavor travel.
Great experience through. Just what you expect from a restaurant of this caliber plus that little extra! Very good work
The journey is amazing. And it do need 2.5 hour to finish the dinner. If you would like to order the journey, my advise will be do not eat too much for your lunch. If you want to order the shorter way, it may not be an option. Our first half journey is like, whoa, how brilliant the chief is, how fantastic the food is. The second half journey is like, oh, I am full but I still want to taste this, how many courses we had. The journey is a bit longer for us. Anyway, the OlO restaurant is amazing.
The food is absolutely top notch, appetizers, main course and dessert, all perfect. Staff knowledgeable.
I would give more stars if I could, a perfect restaurant experience.
A couple of times visited by a large group and the knowledgeable staff and amazing menu will not leave anyone cold. The place is really nice and relaxed in nature.
Personally, I m not a special wine lover but Olo s knowledgeable staff had selected five different wines for the tasting menu and I finally began to understand what it was all about.
Very strong recommendation based on two visits!
Absolutely ok service to be a Michelin star restaurant.
The trip to the Menu was a really great experience, we spent almost five hours. Unhurried, warm atmosphere. Sommelier told great stories about the wines and the staff was wonderful. The food was very good and insanely great, which never seemed to end.
I ll start with positives, Excellent atmosphere, very kind staff and good food.
A bit more detail on food, we had 5 part meal where each part consisted of 3-4 courses, quite interesting presentation, although there were too much of fish products for my taste , and when the reindeer came, although it was super tasty, it was very small, like 20 or 30 grams.
The last part of the dessert was liquorish, which we both hate so we didn t touch it.
All in all a very nice experience, where one would experience very new tastes and exciting combinations of food tastes.
June 2018. First, I have to disclose that the perspective of my review is one from someone who typically does NOT like "fancy food". This restaurant is one that positions itself as an upscale establishment with high quality food. Indeed the environment is elegant and the quality of the food and servers is very high. However.... My opinion is that OVERALL you do not receive a high value for the cost of the meal due to the unnecessarily high price for smaller portions of food. I suppose if you want a dining "experience" this is certainly a good place to obtain it. But if you want value for your Euro and want to walk away from your table feeling satisfied in both your belly and your bank account, there are so many other options available in Helsinki. Please don't misunderstand.... Olo is a high quality establishment! The cauliflower, ribs and veal were EXCELLENT! But I prefer a much better value for my money.
Please give me a thumbs up "like" for this review... Thanks!
Very innovative and delicious menu and friendly waitresses!
The food was really good and the menu package worked well with the wines. The food did not have to wait long and the staff were really nice.
Lives up to its Michelin star in every way. A great experience to eat here.
I m pretty sure that this is one of the most amazing restaurant in Helsinki. I think it s totally European food style but it s a bit inspired by other countries like Japan.
Great dishes and flavors. Really skilled work from the testers as well as the waiters.
A wonderful meal using the freshest Finnish and Nordic ingredients. So great to try Michelin starred food in other countries and to taste the talent of kitchens around the world and their wonderful produce.
We had the summer menu and the 5 glasses of wine pairing.
Highlights were the roasted scallop and cod.
Beautifully present food and 5* service. Well worth a visit if in Helsinki. Book early as very popular.
Delicious, playful and innovative dishes, great atmosphere.
Great experience .... Certainly will come again ...
Definitely one of the best restaurants in Finland. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Finland. Highly recommended!
At first we were very impressed.Very creative cuisine. Nicely presented. Nice effort. Mostly very delicious. Quail leg was a bit hard to eat and the green stuff under it too spicy. (Horseradish?) Young and unexperienced staff needs more education is various fields.
Note to the owner:
Spend at least a sommelier on a French pronunciation course. Particularly in the Michelin-level restaurant, the correct pronunciation of French wines and grapes / areas is important. Not to be juntteja!
In addition, check the background music and volume at which it is played. This evening was totally unsuitable for your level restaurant. Likewise, teach a young male waitress to answer the client politely. The customer does not answer "this is just our opinion of what is being played." STRICT: We'll be right come again.
My evening at the chef s counter at OLO was close to perfect. I had high expectations bc OLO is a 1* restaurant in a market with few Michelin* restaurants. I spoke with the owner and executive chef about individual courses, a significant advantage of the chef s counter.
The sommelier, Angel, was lovely. We spoke about each wine, the emmer beer, and the grappa supplement I chose. He is knowledgeable and engaging, an excellent client-facing representative of the restaurant. The pairings themselves were nicely selected, and I could see the thought process behind each selection, as a wine geek myself.
The front of house staff went out of their way to make me feel welcome and engaged. They even ran a small errand for me as an accommodation that was very much appreciated. Highly recommended.
Obvious why it's Michelin starred. The food is fantastic, but you do have to be open minded. I recommend "the shorter way" and a cheese plate unless your really hungry.
Everything is very harmonious and the decoration of the place is very satisfactory.
Second time at this amazing restaurant in Helsinki and I now think I will make it a regular visit when I am in town. The food was an absolute blow out - night filled with oohs and aahs at the presentation, the flavours, the smells and the techniques and thought put into the dishes. One highlight was the bread and beer dish which involved the same wheat being used for the bread and the beer and the whole concept of eating and drinking the same ingredient with such different results. A must place if you are in Helsinki.
A great and unique experience. The dosages are extremely fine and the presentation is of prime quality. The wines were also tasty and suitable for serving. The staff, service and experience as a whole are extremely good. However, the flavor menu in the menu could have been a bit better and more dimensional, so only 4 stars.
We had the 14 course tasting menu....delicious with excellent service and support from the whole staff.
Sometimes it s good to pamper yourself. Great Restaurant Olo! The food is absolutely brilliant, beautiful and interesting.
A wonderful entity. Different sized dishes, all tastier than each other. Bold combinations for a great taste experience. The portions are also stylish looking.
We had a great time here. The food was amazing but a LOT At times the service was lacking but everyone was super friendly and attentive. Small mistakes does not take away this Michelin star.
Set some time (and money) aside and experience what food can taste like. Extraordinary.
Not just hit. There is nothing wrong with the place, but the world of taste was not for me.
Amazing experience, great food and service. Definitely worth it, distinctive flavours and perfect wine recommendations. Not to be missed if you have the chance. Enjoy!
