We took a weekend getaway with our teenage son this weekend and this was our first stay at this property and they did an amazing job. We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton 2 weekends prior for our anniversary and this property blew the Ritz out of the water on nearly every level - service, food, amenities - with COVD restrictions in place.
They had all the expected precautions in place for the current COVID environment, but handled everything very well. While the nicer restaurant was closed, the rest of the resort was open and welcoming.
Check-in was easy and our room was nice. They had a label across the door "certifying" the cleanliness of the room. It was a nice touch, but probably more marketing to put people at ease than anything.
We had a 1-bedroom fireplace suite. The room was nice and well laid out, albeit small. Having a kitchenette, dining table and living room would be great for an extended stay - we were only there 3 days.
We booked a pool cabana for Saturday and Sam Brown, our cabana attendant was awesome. Even though her section ended up being the other side of the pool from us, she never missed a beat and took great care of us.
They had a decent menu poolside and a great menu at the restaurant that was open. Staff was abundant, friendly and ready to serve the guests. Contrast this with our experience at the Ritz 2-weeks prior - ridiculously limited menu for the level of resort, limited staffing with nearly zero guest interaction and care for service that the Ritz is known for worldwide. Oh and Squaw Creek was at a lower price.
As a travel photographer/blogger, the landscape around the resort is amazing. You just can't beat Squaw Valley. I came away with ton's of great shots.
Resort at Squaw Creek, thank you for a great weekend. I know the current restrictions make operations tough, but you guys are handling it brilliantly. We will be back.
This is a massive resort with hotel, shoppings amenities, galore. But be prepared to pay for it, average room rates are several hundred dollars a night.
Getting to the slopes takes a while, longer than I thought (1.5 hr from the hotel), though this depends on which part of the resort you stay at.
One of the best times. Definitely not the prettiest buildings but the party was outside on their deck area and that was gorgeous!
The staff was all on it. The resort operations are great even if the snow conditions weren't that great
It is a great area to bring your friends and hangout
I've stayed here twice and both times, the staff were great and welcoming. The resort is big and have activities for all ages. Rooms/Suites were nice and clean.
I stayed here overnight for a company event during the summer. The views are gorgeous, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that the catered food is terrible.
First, the resort is nicely done and has the advertised amenities. Had some issues with staff and process.
When I arrived at 4:00 my reservation was "lost". Had to wait about 30 minutes while they figured it out, the front desk person was nice but said it was a backlog issue.
When I got there I asked if I could plug in my car. I was told that only came with the $50 valet parking but the place was nearly empty and the $20 parking was wide open. But, if things were slow I could check in my car to the valet, leave it to get charged, and come back for it in 4 hours. On day to I went out early at 6:30 and checked, the charger was empty. Then I trucked all the way to the Bell Desk, he said OK it was a good time to get my car charged up. Next I walked past two large, frozen and empty valet-only lots where I proceeded to the self-park lot. I got my car warm to scrape ice and clear the windshield enough to drive around to the charger near the lobby. When I got back the Bellman was gone again, and when he returned after being inside his office, he said he had changed his mind and I could no longer charge my car there. The space was still open that was not the reason.
With staff that is that rude and disorganized it is no wonder it's practically empty. I suggest Heavenly or NorthStar if you are looking for ski-in, ski-out resort. I won't be back to Squaw myself.
The service at the resort was excellent. The accommodations top notch. I do not ski and was at the resort for a conference. So, I can only speak to the facilities. The setting is gorgeous. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Ski in, ski out, how could it get better?! Plus there s a large heated pool, hot tub, and space to relax and enjoy the scenery. Rooms are nice and comfortable, large bathrooms, and decently equipped kitchenettes.
Beautiful location, the guy that runs the fishing ponds and guide service can be a little prickly about hotel guests fishing his little mud pool without dropping hundreds of dollars.
Booked a huge group here. They were amazing. The Director of Sales, Monica, is an absolute star. Sales operations Jillian was fantastic and ready to do whatever it would take to make our event a success. The event went beautifully. Our guests were beyond impressed. I highly recommend the Resort at Squaw Creek for your event or just a weekend trip. (I've had many of these but that's another 5 start post)
The staff has been helpful during my stay for a work conference
Awesome. Great stores three hot tub and one pool. Pool is pretty shallow .
Very customer centric. Beautiful location and great food
We had a sickness in the family and had to change some days around. Mira in reservations was kind and helpful. She was compassionate and went the extra mile to help us. We are so excited for our upcoming stay and thankful to Mira for her great help!! Thank you!
Got a good deal on Expedia for a valley view suite. The room is amazing and the view is nice even on the off season. Was great for a relaxing weekend for two but could easily fit 4 people in this room with the couch bed. Will definitely return... If the price is right.
Good hotel but limited food options and not the easiest to get to from the rest of Squaw.
Best Resort I've gone to in some time. Went for a conference and arrived during the early morning (around 3-4 am) and was welcomed by the staff (also of the highlights of this resort). The view was stunning and look forward to coming back on a private vacation during the winter.
We had a comfortable experience but there were elements of the rooms that seemed low quality, like one sliding bathroom door wouldn't slide properly and another door wouldn't close fully. Otherwise the grounds were beautiful and the staff was friendly.
Very nice rooms with free open wifi that is about 20 mbs in speed. However for the price it is over rated. To do most activities will cost you. There are few signs to tell you how to get to trails and guided ones are $55. There is a nice pool with a water slide so that's nice. There are stores on the premise for some light shopping. Overall not really worth staying at unless you're willing to keep shelling out money.
The beds were extremely comfortable. You can rent equipment right in the resort and hop on the squaw creek lift.
The view was fantastic. The hotel staff was really awesome and has great service. The only qualm I had was that the body shower soap team out in my bathroom and even though I told the front desk to replace it, they had not done so by the evening. Every other thing was beautiful and wonderful.
Great service and huge rooms! The food was surprisingly excellent, especially the breakfast buffet (though a tad expensive, but worth it). Super convenient that it's right next to one of the ski lifts (for intermediate and advanced skiiers) that connects with the main village. The ice skating rink is also super cute!
One of the coolest ski-in, ski-out places. The chairlift, Squaw Creek is right there and the terrain is fun all the way back to the resort!
No price consideration when six peaks was closed. Hot tubs too far from rooms
Excellent dinner restaurant. High cost, but very high quality and truly excellent and attentive service staff. Well worth the drive.
The place has breathtaking views of the valley. Hence four Star rating.
The Cafe there are just ok and a bit pricey. E.g. $30+ for a to go sandwich, chips and a cookie.
Rooms have a great view too, but bed are pretty basic.
Cool place. Sandy's Pub has a nice bar. The lobby is open and 70's modern.
The service and amenities are incredible.
Great ski runs for all levels.
Course condition was terrible. Beverage cart hours are inconsistent with time of golf play.
Our family of four rented a room for a couple of days during Christmas week and had a great time. We ate at Montagna once, got snacks at the cafe, went in the pool and hot tub, used the exercise facility, got my snowboard waxed and tuned, did a short snowshoe hike over to Squaw Village, and used Red Dog lift to ski the Lake Trail back to the resort. We also used the ski valet service and the Resort Shuttle. When we missed the shuttle one night, I used the Mountaineer app to summon a free ride over to Squaw Village for dinner. You'll see a bunch of dogs here. We found out that you have to be an owner at the resort in order to have a dog on the property.
My family and I went to this hotel. The rooms were good but the food was overpriced. I think they should make this food cheaper
The room is nice and clean. Really enjoy the breakfast.
We were nervous after reading some of the reviews but found the resort to be beautiful. Rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. There are multiple restaurant options onsite and a 3 minute free shuttle to Squaw vally. The skiing is amazing.
I very much enjoyed staying here, but this Resort is definitely very hit-and-miss. The food is mostly a mess, while they charge some of the highest prices for food I've seen at resorts. I don't mind paying high prices for good quality, but it's pretty irritating when you feel like you're eating at an amusement park but paying for a five star restaurant. However the pools in the atmosphere are really nice, and the staff is really nice also.
Amenities are fun with a sauna room, heated pools, and hot tubs!
Really amazing stay with gorgeous view. Would highly recommend!
Spent five nights here with my wife during a business conference. We really enjoyed the amenities, though we felt the restaurant prices were a bit steep. The resort staff was really helpful and cheerful and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. It's a really good place to spend the time. The resort is also conveniently placed just up the hill from the Olympic Village from the 1960 Winter Games. The resort runs a free shuttle every 15 to 30 minutes depending on the event in progress and the demand. Fun! Highly recommended. I hope the group books this place again for next year.
It is not a ski in ski out for beginners! The lift at the lodge does not have any green runs, therefore you will need to drive or take a shuttle. The resort is not connected, so in the winter you have to take a walk outside to get to the hot tubs or to the spa or to any activities, it is weird walking in your robe outside to the spa. It has children's activities but they seem unorganized and so spread out that they are hard to find. Nice place, but for families with young kids in the winter it is probably more convenient to stay in the village.
Amazing experience staying here. Definitely take the valley view (only $25 more). Keep one day for enjoying @resort, specially the heated tubs, slides and 4 in-resort restaurants.
1 star less because on arrival, at 5 pm, they made me wait because room wasn't clean. Also made me stand in line twice.
Absolutely brilliant. Beautiful accommodations. Vally views are breathtaking. The staff is superb.
Loved this hotel !! It was the nicest I've ever stayed at in 52 years.
Pleasant place, nice spa. With a bit of work, managed to find vegan food. The pools are heated even in the winter.
Warning! When booking thru AirBnB or Vrbo keep in mind the resort fees. They will charge you to have coffee a robe for the pool and other amenities that are not explicitly stated. We received no coffee, robes or anything special and they still tried to charge us. We explained to them the situation and they reversed the charges otherwise this would be a rating of 1 as we were mad about it due to various talks with Management. Probably won't be back, we'll stay somewhere else.
We visited for Easter Weekend. There were a lot of kid-friendly Easter activities planned. We we're lucky there was still snow on the ground. The heated pool is a plus and a water slide was turned on because the temp during the day was warm enough. Great service and helpful staff. We will definitely return in the future.
Beautiful setting and very nice hotel w/ excellent service.
Very fancy, great location, nice amenities! Just a little too expensive for frequent use.
