Fairly clean and smoothly run.
TSA are very thorough here. They went way further than I have experienced at other airports. So do be prepared for that. They are into everything in great depth. Even though I went through the full body scanner I was still manually checked by a security officer pretty much from head to toe and chemically checked too, with nothing out of the ordinary. To the credit of the officer involved it was all done very professionally and they were just doing what they were trained to do.
The airport itself is small, so do expect limited choice of stores and amenities, both before and after security.

I've eaten well at Cibo in airports before, but yesterday , Sept 27, around 5:45-6:00 I ate the crabcake appetizer, and within about 45 minutes I had diarrhea. I suspect that either the crabcake or the sauce (something like tartar sauce, it had a lot of mayonnaise) was the problem--perhaps the sauce had been left out of the fridge for too long. The entree was served with wilted spinach, which was probably not the culprit, and I had not eaten since a cheese sandwich at noon, so I'm certain it was from something I ate at Cibo. . .

TSA Pre means no need to take off your shoes. It means you use the machines instead of being lazy and having people who passed bg checks and paid to be on this list. It means you don't hold people up by doing absolutely nothing and having an attitude. Compensation for TSA officers aren't bad, and nobody made anybody choose their careers. If you don't have professional officers, don't want to follow federal procedures to TSA Pre , don't advertise, don't post the poster, don't act like you have a chip on your shoulders. No staff in this airport acts with professionalism expected even in the 2 star airport. No wonder nobody wants to fly in through there and it's significantly cheaper. First time, if not for family, wouldn't suffer through it.

I travel quite a lot and this by far has been the worst experience customer service wise. My original flight had been delayed 4 times, rescheduled to the next day, they cancelled my flight and rescheduled me and my husband on two different locations.
Our bags had not been loaded to the plane and when trying to receive them the customer service for baggage were rude, both the night of the reschedule and the morning of the new flights.
Unprofessional and uninformative. 0/10

In the span of four years, this airport has gone from the most efficient in the area, to the least efficient. I can never get through security quickly here anymore. It used to be simple. Now it s a time suck.

Probably one of my favorite U.S. airports. Best part about National is the close proximity to D.C. You are literally 10 mins away from the heart of the city.

Pretty good food options in and outside the terminal. I usually find myself stopping at Qdoba Mexican Grill outside of the terminal. All airport food is overpriced but its not grossly overpriced IMO.

TSA lines generally go fairly quick and easy. Again depending on the time of the day that could change.

DCA could use a little bit of updating but its not old and ancient. And they are making a lot of cosmetic changes outside of the terminal including adding new restaurants. One thing you'd like to see is more power charging stations. Its outlets throughout the terminal but a few power charging stations or USB charging stations would be great.

I usually fly in/out of Reagan Airport because many major airlines use Reagan, so fares are competitive. Traffic to and from the airport is routinely bad; it doesn t matter the day of the week or the time of day. Plan for accidents and road maintenance; leave early. I park in economy parking. If you can, buy your parking ahead of time. Economy parking sometimes fills up and then you have to pay more in the garage. Take a photo of your car in the parking lot, so you remember where you parked. Take a photo of the closest bus shelter so you get off close to your car after you return from your trip. The shuttle service is five stars. I never have to wait long and the drivers are very patient when loading and unloading. Remember that you are dropped off and picked up on the third floor (as of Jan 2020) of the terminal. TSA lines at Reagan back up. Plan for that. Make sure you take your snacks out of your carry-on. The airport is always crowded and someone is always coughing near you while you re waiting to use the bathroom and board the plane. I get a sick 50% of the time. Take airborne with you to reduce your likelihood of catching a cold. There are many options for food and snacks, but they are pricey. Supposedly there may be viruses on the charging stations. On line articles recommend you charge your computer and phone in a wall outlet, not a charging station. Safe travels!

So easy to use. Beautiful and historic. Close to the city and the approach for landings provides more spectacular views than any other airport I have ever flown into. So, if you are given the option, always choose the window seat flying in and out of Reagan. Day and night it is beautiful. You won't be disappointed. (Except maybe on foggy days). Dropping off and picking up passengers can be a little tricky if you don't pay attention to which terminal to use. However, there is easy access to the Metro and taxis. You are 5 minutes from the National Mall. Best airport in the DC area. So, if you have the option between DCA, BWI and Dulles, I highly recommend Reagan every time. Even if you have an extended delay (overnight, etc.) You can walk to dozens of terrific restaurants, some very nice hotels and you have immediate access to public transportation. Just something to think about. Happy travels!

I try to avoid this airport just as I try to avoid a nasty stomach flu. I absolutely hate the American Terminal C with the shuttle buses to remote planes...it's ridiculous. I do however love the two restaurants that are pre-security and those will be a separate review. The TSA staff are always pleasant and efficient also.

Very disappointed with customer service. I called this location because I lelf my house and car keys in the ring with the keys of car i rented. I wait for a month since i returned the car while I hace been calling. They just do not care about their customers.
If you wanted to rent a car for this company think tuice.

First what's up with the shuttle service. Doesn't anyone want to handle luggage for a tip? If that's the case then make more storage or hire someone who wants to work.Never had this problem but this airport .Dullus, Louis Airstrong, all have attendees who work. Whats up Southwest or maybe the whole airport needs to be redesigned You stuff 9 terminals in one little area. Will fly into Dullas next time.

In terms of airports, there are few that have a name like that which is Reagan National Airport. With the great Communicator greeting all passengers from the local surrounds, there is a sense of dignity, history and classic nostalgia when you walk in.

Some say it's dated, but I have never felt as comfortable outside my own home airport, as I do this one. There are a lot of windows here, a view to the outside, something amiss in many American airports. There is plenty of signage, but there is a lack of detail in the maps and diagrams. The check-in area is dated, with visible baggage scanning machines, blocking the view of the various airlines stations.

Security looks pretty good also; the lines seem to move pretty fast, even if there are a lot of people there. There are elite flyer lines at each security gate, so if you have decent status, you basically cut to the front; and this is also a PRE-CHECK airport, so that might help those with the most frequent flyer. Fortunately, there are plenty of eating and airport shopping options. In the main terminal, you get the mall like shops; in the terminal sections, you find the airport restaurants, and fast foods.

Look, if you want a nice airport, which has all the basics, and a few amenities; and you don't want to deal with the pain of Dulles, I recommend Reagan for your traveling needs.

The airport is nice and busy, but the lower level where you claim your baggage, good lord, the carbon monoxide from all the buses, and automobiles are dangerously high. You need a self-contained breathing apparatus before you go and search for your baggage or hold your breath.

This place is amazing I ve been here six times and went to different countries and I love this place this is my favorite airport it s amazing the employees are incredible really nice to help you out if you don t know where to go and I would million thousand percent sure I would come back here again.

The airport staff are decent but the TSA agents here are rude and frankly so unprofessional that they make the post office seem downright homey .

The amenities here are not bad compared to some airports of equal size but again TSA agents routinely jump lines and threaten people who complain.

Overall, TSA should be privatized

Yeah, I'm going to avoid this place as often as I can now. United staff were rude and extremally unhelpful when I got stuck with baggage complications. Eventually it was determined that they sent my luggage to the wrong airport, claiming to have known this before even having flown out, not willing to tell me until after 3 weeks of complaining.

I'm not a fan of this airport because it's a hot mess. I was only in the AirTran terminals and was not impressed for an airport located in D.C. There also needs to be free internet access for travelers. It is an national embarrassment that they charge for it here.

Atrocious layout...the overhead signs say you can walk to different terminals. But you have to take a bus between them. No signage saying you HAVE to, until it s too late. TSA workers are standing waiting to tell you that you ve walked too far and can t turn around. In my case it was maybe 3 feet. The guy watched me come from the secure side, realized I needed to turn around because there was a sign IN FRONT of me. When I turned around I saw one behind me. Why not just have one sign or make it blazingly obvious not to continue walking in that direction if you re trying to get to a different terminal? In my case, I was trying to get to a connecting flight and nearly missed it since I had to go through security again. In the future I will happily pay extra not to pass through this airport. If I could rate it zero stars I would, but unfortunately one is as low as it goes!

We had a family emergency that took us from California to Baltimore. I can say without hesitation, Reagan National Airport was one of the better parts of the trip. Easy to get in and out, especially coming back, using the Metro. Nice people, great souvenirs, and in a special call out, the Tidewater Cafe. A teensy bit pricy but the food was awesome, and the service was really good

Great airport, lots of shops and restaurants.
Security line took about 30 minutes though, some people were missing their flights too due to this. (Maybe it could've been their fault, too though).

Very efficient airport for domestic flight. Location is very close to the city. TSA check was very effective and quick. I didn't have to take out the electronics from the bags nor taking off my shoes (even if you are not TSA-pre-check!). Only a bit disturbed by some renovation work inside the terminal and the long queue blocking the way.

Easy, user friendly and hassle free airport. You don't have to ask a single question and all the airport signs are properly placed to direct you. Staffs are friendly and understand users requirement and help them even you don't ask them and no bad attitude.

American Airlines gate 35X is a disaster. After taking the unnecessary shuttle from the real gates, we were shuffled into the basement, only to be pushed off into another bus and finally to an awaiting aircraft.

Information was sparse and the "gate" was extremely crowded. Unless you enjoy feeling like cattle, avoid 35X.

Booked roundtrip tickets on American Airlines, upon arriving to meet the flight my passenger who was wheelchair bound, was brought to the gate on time and by an attendant who escorted us the the parking lot and waited with the passenger until I got my car and drove to the door to pick him up, she was then generously tipped for her sevices. On the return flight we were greeted and a wheelchair was available and he was ticketed and boarded immediately, the professional and care they gave us was outstanding, he will be returning to the area for additional medical treatment and we will definitely fly American Airllines at DCA.

This airport is sick! It has nice bathrooms and the staff was very kind to us. I will be sure to come to this airport anytime I want to go to that area in the future. Thank you for the sweet experience that allowed me and my family to grow. I will never forget it.

Just like BWI and Dulles, I never had a flight delay here. It's a pretty small airport compared to the other international ones, but the whole building is organized and flight gates are easy to find because of the kind staff and the easy-to-read instructions. This should be an option for you if you need to fly to the Baltimore-Washington area.

Very poor logistic! Limited seating near the gate for the passengers waiting for their flight. The worst is that you cannot check the gate for your next flight unless you exit to the lobby!!! No screens with the nearest departures, no personnel and very unclear exit, so it s easy to exit by mistake!
Very confusing security process as well - different rules for different lines, so you don t know who to listen to.

It is an airport, not a 5 star/diamond hotel in vegas. I am not sure what people expect out of airports, or they just want to write something somewhere and call it a review to feel better? Your perception of an airport does not mean how everyone else sees it.
Anyhow, I never had issues, very nice airport for a small and old place like DC. I have been to too many airports around the world, new and old, its an airport at the end of the day, stop whinning and get to where you are going amd have a safe flight seriously. Cheers!

I was worried about getting through the TSA checkpoint with my intellectually disabled sister. They were perfectly tolerant of both us and the medications we needed to carry, and let us pass without any more poking and prodding than anyone else.
