I love this airport. Going through security has never taken me more than 10 minutes, and it often takes less. The fact that the metro runs to the airport is a lifesaver. It's so convenient to DC. A decent number of healthy foods options, though there could be more (especially vegetarian and vegan food options). I like the architecture. Staff are pretty friendly. I'd probably be willing to pay $100 more to fly from DCA than from Dulles or BWI. My only issue is with the name. Reagan does not deserve to be honored.
Had an easy and nice time hear. Security line was very quick and I was through in 15 minutes. Lots of food options that aren't fast food and plenty of stores. It is very clean and there are a decent amount of outlets.
I don't like the shuttle but between the terminals.
Pretty empty, suggest the self service stands stay open and open earlier
Love how it's easily accessible on the metro and even during the holidays the lines aren't that bad.
The shopping system (specifically term. A) is terrible. First you feel like a shoplifter picking anything off the shelf. Dont dare walk in with anything of your own out. Then you have to walk down a hallway to pay for it. Then walk back to the food place to get your order. So you're fighting crowds down to pay, then fighting crowds back up to get your food, then fighting crowds back down to get a chair at your gate. Not only that, what ever staff they saved from not having cashiers, they had to keep to make sure people just dont grab and walk off. This system is just terrible and whosever's idea it was to do this should be dragged around the walls of Troy.
Nice airport, way better than Baltimore since I haven t gotten a delay when I fly from here.
Buses to get everywhere and third time the plane hasn't parked at the terminal. Use Dulles!
Easily accessible. Love the amenities and the large city connections
Crappiest airport in service and design.past 2 flights i have been stuck in the airplane on the ground unable to leave because of terminal issues. To get a rental, dont follow the signs, and be prepared to wait 2 hours.
Small, congested, crowded airport. During peak hours there isn't much space to sit!
Well located, access to metro and nice terminal. Have enough food options, good airport.
National Airport is one of the best airports I have ever visited. The next time I visit D.C., I will pay extra money to fly into National Airport, if I have to. My wife and her friend flew out of Dulles and it cost them over $50.00 for transportation to and from the airport. It cost me $5.00 total for the metro. Here are the other reasons why I loved this airport:
Pros:
1) Very clean!!!!!!!!!! One of the cleaniest airport I have ever seen.
2) The metro is connected to the airport, unlike Dulles and Baltimore. The metro is a great option to go everywhere.
3) Fast check in (hardly ever a line)
4) Not a lot of walking to baggage claim
5) Excellent food shops (I was able to get a low carb salad, while I really wanted to go over and get a cinna-bun or the pretzel sticks.)
6) Bathrooms are pretty clean
7) Airport staff is very nice and helpful.
8) TSA is very organized and fast
9) Boarding/ Unloading is fast and quickly
10) Eating tables are placed near your boarding station, so there is not a reason to miss your flight.
11) TVs are located in places where you can watch comfortably.
Cons:
1) You have to pay for Wi-Fi. If you have an existing wireless account with Spirit, AT&T, or Verizon, you can go surfing right away.
If you're changing planes or on a layover you'll probably hate this airport. Each group of gates is separate. Meaning you can't connect from gates 24 - 34 to any other group of gates without going out of security and back through. If you have a short connection it sucks!
Great Airport centered close to DC and Friendly with Great Customer Service Agents to Greet you and give assistance, to ensure a Great travel experience.
it is recommended to take Airport Shuttle to Terminal A from Metro Station. You can get the Shuttle in front of Terminal B. Not many choices for dinning in Terminal A once you get past security check point. Security check was quick and efficient on a Thursday morning. Airport is clean and have a pay for trolleys.
For being in DC, this airport is small at terminals, minimal seating, and employees are rued!
Light rail access to and from airport with ease of finding designated gates.
Best airport in the dc area. I love how you can get in an out of this airport so easily and hassle free. I always fly through dc because I can take the metro here and walk through security. I generally do check a bag but have a carry on and I can arrive as late as 30- 40 min before my flight and I will have plenty of time to get through security and find my gate. TSA is really friendly here. There are a few places to eat, I generally eat at Einstein bagels. Plenty of places to charge your phone as well!
To use God's Rainbow as a symbol of Homosexuality is an abomination. Thou shalt not mock God.
Friendly and open airy space, makes this one my favorite airports. Plus they have great restaurants accessible from all the terminals.
Reagan may roll in his grave for a great many reasons, but his namesake airport is not one of them. Clean, friendly, efficient, and featuring a convenient Metro connection to the rest of the area, DCA is a pleasure to fly in and out of. Although since I love DC, I'd rather be flying in.
The Metro station is closed for the weekend and they made no plans for the increase in vehicle traffic this would create- gridlock and people getting out of their lyfts and Uber's to walk is what we're dealing with now
Meh. About what you would expect from an airport. Mixed experiences with the gate agents, but for that I blame Delta. The airport is easily accessible and does allow Lyft and Uber pick ups and drop offs. And it is very close to Alexandria, so a very cheap ride share cost.
Booked a rental car through a travel site. Rental companies will waive the young driver free (under 25, I am 24) to military members on orders. I was on TDY with my orders present and they would not honor this. I called the main Alamo office to confirm that they would waive this free prior and they said they would. They wanted to over $200 for 4 days... Not military friendly. Book with Hertz especially if you have USAA.
Thankful this is my hometown airport, as it is the best airport I've ever dealt with. Always quick, efficient, clean, and everyone is nice and gets their job done!
This has to be the worst airport. Not only is it unkept, the service is horrible. I had to ask 4 different people about the transit shuttles- no one could help me so I had to call the airport, only to be directed to someone else, who also didn t know. After waiting almost an hour for the shuttle, we arrived to terminal B, where our luggage was tagged and set the the side.... now when I say the side I m talking about an unguarded area! Who does that? What kind of service and security is this?!
Mayhem and disorganization. But has metro service and tsa is quick
So I like flying in/out of Regan- has everything you need and not as busy as others. Tips for this airport - if you re not priority your wait is long for baggage/ticketing - get priority through an airline credit card deal if you don t fly often. Also if you re not precheck or clear you will wait in long lines depending on what time you fly so strongly suggest in enrolling in one or both- makes life SO much easier when traveling. Best thing to beat the lines is online check in and do priority curb side and walk on in- doing everything via the airline app makes it a lot smother and really who does paper tickets or counters anymore- if you fly domestic and still go to the counter you re wasting your time- modernize and use the technology it s a life saver and less stressful.
Excellent airport with good amenities and ready transit
Flew into here in '78 when it was called Washington National! Busy airport!
Really very torn on this airport!
The place is clean, and well lit, clear signage, and maps are easy.
But getting from aircraft to aircraft depending on the aircraft is a joke. Departures are never on time (thank goodness in the case of my last trip) because Arrivals are never on time!!!
There are plenty of food options in the terminals - But depending on the day and time, you might be standing or leaning, or hunting for a seat...
Wish a half star was an option
Very nice airport, close to the City, and connected to Metrorail.
Absolutely hate how technology is shoved into your face. I don't want a tablet in my face while I'm trying to eat at the terminal bar.
Always been impressed with the design of the terminal ceilings and roof line architecture. I still like to say Washington National for the name.
Brought my water bottle which is full of 3onces of water, they confenscated it. It's worth $20. You have got to be kidding me . Worst airport experience and staff I have ever dealth with. I will never fly out of Reagan again
I really enjoyed this airport. The area before security feels more like a grand, Art Deco train station than it does a regular airport. The metro is right next to the airport so you don t have to deal primarily with cars, unlike Dulles or BWI.
Shuttling from plane to terminal then back again lacks something to be desired but at least I didn't have to walk. Altogether it was a bumpy, cramped and uncomfortable ride on the shuttle bus.
Always a nice airport to fly in or out of
TSA pre and clear are available here!!
Had to check in with southwest and so unfriendly this is the first time I've been to this airport so maybe it's a bad day and only few employees are allowed actually work
DCA needs a lot of upgrades for a domestic airport in the National Capital Region. DCA should be the post card for all who visit or come to the nation's capital. However, it offers amenities airports are expected to.
Clean, not crowded, some of the stores and restaurants are closed.
The terminal opens at 430 and they don t serve alcohol until 0600. Avoid this airport at all costs.
Particularly liked the fact that you can go to this airport with luggage by the underground train. Its cheap and convenient to reach here. But just pay close attention the terminals and directions.
I normally review fine dining and hotels, but since airports are intrinsic to the travel experience I have decided to share my thoughts. First up is Reagan National Airport and it is one of my favorite airports to use. It is accessible directly from the Metro subway system or a very quick cab ride from DC. The B and C concourse have an updated windowed feel to them with some great views of the monuments. TSA is a breeze here. Finally, there are some great dining options from some local restaurants. Overall, it is a great experience.
Few outlets for a modern day airport.
Low service.
WAY more convenient than Dulles - and they are pretty efficient. Right on the Metro as well. Big, modern and clean airport...this is a hige compliment since most of the US airports are old and have poor infrastructure
A busy airport but it's kept clean. You may have to take a shuttle to get to your desired gate so leave yourself with plenty of time if your coming from a connecting flight. Plenty of places to eat from coffee and doughnuts to sushi.
Great location. Easy to hit an early flight from downtown.
I've flown to quite a few airports and this place has it down. Will return. Food options are great, customer service is good, and it is staffed well.
Unfriendly, rude, unhelpful employees. The layout is confusing and employees are incredibly reluctant to provide assistance. Will try to avoid on future flights
Capital of the USA ??? really ?
This small airport is not really up to par though we are in Washington
The DCA - Ronald Reagan Airport is a convenient airport for visiting Washington DC. The restaurants pre-security are excellent. The Southwest terminal is a good distance from the other airlines. There is a shuttle provided to the metro. Recommend Legal Seafood restaurant. You can see the monuments from the airport in the distance.
Efficient airport. Easily accessible. 4 stars because... Airports are just always always frustrating occasionally. I had. Ava's experience with flying with a per here to move out west.
Wow, after living in the area and traveling a lot the airport has definitely gone downhill a bit. Most store/restaurant workers are no longer friendly or helpful and flights are routinely delayed, but no one is willing to give updates or provide any sort of information. You have to wait for your app or the big flight board to tell you what is going on with your flight. Hope it bounces back soon
Doesn't compare to the other world class airports we have in the USA. Language barriers left and right cause confusion and misinformation. This is true from the ticket counters to the restaurants. Lack of seating. Slow EVERY single time getting luggage to the baggage carousel. Average of about 40 minutes from touchdown to getting your bags. I prefer Dulles despite its own hassles
My go-to airport for the Washington D.C. area. Great access to the Metro.....train and bus. Lots of hotels, restaurants, and bars two or three train stops away or a short bus or taxi ride. Security always seems to run smooth and they get you through quickly. Plenty of restaurants and small shops inside the airport too....even once you ve passed security.
Flight got cancelled, airport doesn't have cots to sleep on. No vending machines for food and water for people stuck here overnight. Nearby hotels jack their rates up to $300/night because they know you are desperate. What's the point of building this massive palace of an airport with 100 ft high ceilings yet leaves travelers stranded sleeping on the floors? Meanwhile cleaning guys on Zambonis and random loud beeping, noisey echoey acoustics will keep you awake.
Under construction at the moment pay attention to signs
This is the most disgusting airport I have ever travelled to. Avoid any flights here! I'm pretty sure my 9yr old could keep the airport cleaner than their entire staff.
Let me tell you... this airport has everything you need, from shops, to great food if you have a layover. I was in Dulles a couple of months ago but Reagan is for sure the nicer one. Great connecting airport, has all the amenities.
I got off of a flight from Orlando and went to the bathroom on the way through to get my checked baggage. On the way I realised I had left my phone in the bathroom, as I went to turn around a female worker was sitting on a chair and yelled at me that I was unable to turn around and go back through. I was literally at the "no going back" sign so I said I'm not even past that point yet but she argued with me so I kept walking through as she directed and then had to yell to her to let her know what I had done, she then told me very rudely she couldn't help me and I had to go get in a massive line to get scanned and go back through. I was obvisioly not going to wait in a line as I needed to get my phone before someone stole it, so I went to the staff there who advised I needed to go back to that lady and tell her she needed to call a colleague to come help me. As I was approaching her she started yelling at me again to turn around, she was making a scene in front of everyone so i walked away from her back to the line. She then yelled at me instead of getting off her seat to come and speak to me and told me she would get a staff member to come and speak to me but "good luck in getting your phone back"
Another colleague eventually did come and gave me back my phone in which I was very grateful.
The lady that was yelling at me was so rude and clearly in the wrong job with no customer service skills.
This is definitely one of the best airports in the country and certainly the top of the list in the DC area. The airport is not huge and it is always easy and quick to get through. Sure, there are the peak times but compared to other airports especially in major metropolitan areas this is one of the best hands down. If you fly Southwest airlines this is the go to airport in the area.
Flew into and out of here, and did not have any problems. We took Sun Country Airlines and it seemed to be quick and efficient (in August). Also has several pokestops and pokegyms.
TSA well staffed and friendly. Excellent food service and a smooth boarding process. What's not to love
