I was here about a month ago and I found the whole experience to be very easy, got through security with no problems and everyone who works here is very professional, will use this airport again

Reagan National is definitely an airport in transition with new restaurants and a new terminal under construction. Beautiful architecture and design, so be sure to take some time to relax and enjoy it while you travel. The signage and direction-finding could use a little work, so be sure to ask for help if you need it!

Pros: The airport is far closer to the District itself than Dulles airport, & the security lines are nice & short at Reagan.

Cons: The airports signage is out-of-date, & not enough dining options.

You get delayed on AA here all the time. On my arrival, there was a delay due to some VIP person at the airport. They kept us in the airplane for 20 minutes on the ground. I am writing this review as I wait at a gate where 3 different flights are scheduled, each of which 10 minutes apart!

It's a small airport. It has a good connection to the subway and is convenient for getting to downtown Washington DC. It is recommended to install the iPhone app SmarTrip because it can be used like Suica in Japan. As of November 2020, it is inconvenient to get to the rental car shop because you have to take the shuttle departing from the 3rd floor.

The TSA is already a mindless half assed attempt to pretend security measures are being taken. The DC airport continues this trend with added bureaucratic stupidity. They have poorly marked "exits" where if you walk up to the point that the signage tells you do not walk past this point. The TSA agent says "you walked to far and need to go through security again". I would like to point out to this walmart greeter reject that the first sign telling you of this was a full 3 feet in front of us. This airport needs to put some actual signs to tell you that the dunken donuts and every other restaurant is outside the security checkpoint, but the overpriced tech store isn't

Very busy traffic that isn't managed very well at all. Airport staff are a little nonchalant. It wasn't dirty but it wasn't clean either. Easy to navigate to your gate and plenty of seating even when busy.

Airport is mind boggling crowded with not nesnea enough staff. Getting to rental car area is outrageous. If one is moderately handicapped, it is impossible. Southwest staff is excellent...amazing how they do it...

Worst airport ever. They have fake gates that are just bus processing to get you to your plane. Staff isn't friendly at all (but that could just be American Airlines horrific customer service).

I've travelled extensively, and this airport could learn a lot from some third world countries.

This is my favorite airport that I've visited. So easy to find everything u need. Pick up and drop off right in front. Going through security was a breeze. Close to everything u want to visit. Great views on the river . For the thrill seekers u take off and land on a dime.

Nice airport. Tsa lines are always a mess. Couple good places to eat. Connected to Metro and Amtrak which is a major plus. Free Hotel shuttles come every 20 mins. Baggage claim is so 20 mins. Tons of cabs a cubes and lift. Its about $14 into DC from Reagan airport

I now know exactly where George Lucas got his inspiration for the Mos Eisley Spaceport. This place is a ragtag of odd characters and foreign (Somali, Ethiopia, Asia, Pakistan) workers that are not fit for any other place. If Congress didn't keep this airport open it would close years ago. All of the workers are confusing and unhelpful. I would have been very happy with some regular Mexicans and south americans... I will never fly out of Reagan National again if I can avoid it. I also want to add that TSA is in cahoots with airports. The only reason you cannot bring a sealed bottle of water through the gate. It's so that you will have to buy the $5 bottle at the rip off airport kiosk.

Airport amenities are extremely convenient, every other aspect lacks considerably. Not only was our flight cancelled 29 minutes after departure time, passengers received a text from the airline while we were sitting on the bus to board the plane in 20 degree weather. Staff was incognizant of how to handle and approach passengers, especially manager Valerie. Thankfully, I came in contact with Kevin Magee who was able to secure a hotel room for us until our rescheduled flight the following morning. Overall, this airport will be avoided in my forthcoming travels.

Reagan airport has been maintained like any other modern international airport, though it only serves domestic flights. The amenities are good and service by staff is efficient, just like in Dulles. And I felt that Reagan was bigger and busier than Dulles!

The TSA line near gate 44 spanned the entire length of the concourse this morning. Yes, all the way from one end of the airport to the other. We got to our gate 10 minutes after our gate doors closed. Missed our flight to SJU.... waiting standby all day.

Flying in and out of DCA was a great experience. When we flew in, our bags were there right away. We flew out on a Sunday morning and getting through security was very quick and easy. All of the airport workers were very friendly. There was a decent selection of food and the airport was very clean.

It's a pain in the @$$ to get here BUT once you make it, everything is pretty convenient. The lines at TSA go quick and the restrooms were clean. Food in the concourse is actually moderately priced for an airport however just like everywhere else in DC, parking is gonna cost you a testical.

Waits were probably the best aspect of this airport. DCA is very adapt to a lot of travelers, which help them to get people through security faster. Overall cleanliness and quality of the airport however, is not the best. There is not a big food and shopping selection either. Still an okay airport.

This airport is a national treasure. It's a vintage facility and looks the part--much more appealing that the concrete monstrosity that is Dulles. You can just imagine passengers boarding shiny aluminum DC-3s on the tarmac back in the day. It's uncomfortably close to DC, so close that planes landing from the north have to follow the snaking path of the Potomac to avoid the prohibited airspace over The Mall on the River Visual approach.
Lots of comments in other reviews about the people who work here. It's not fair to blame the airport for the airline employees. If you don't like crappy customer service, don't fly the cut-rate airlines. As for the TSA employees... I fly all the time, and they're the same from coast to coast. At least they're not collecting unemployment, which is basically their only other option in life. I know. I'm mean. But you know it's true. Once upon a time, in the 20th century, gate greeters were employed by the airport, and cared about their jobs. Now we have the TSA. Deal with it or write your congressman.
Parking at the airport is expensive, but here's a local trick: you can park at the Van Dorn Metro station (three stops from DCA on the blue line), then arrive at the airport after a quick light rail ride. The kicker is: though there is a "long term" section in the Van Dorn garage, the station has no provisions to charge for more than a single day fare. Yes, you pay for one day when you leave. You feel guilty, but it's the setup. Spaces are limited, so have a backup plan.
If you find yourself blessed with an extended layover, walk out to the Metro station, buy a Smartrip card, put a couple bucks on it and ride the yellow line 4 stops to L' Enfant Plaza (named after the designer/civil engineer of DC) to hang out on The Mall. If you're really adventurous, use the same Smartrip card (or singles) to ride the DC Circulator bus to the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials. If you hold on for one more stop, and get off at Archives, you might be able to duck in to see the Declaration in just a few minutes if it's the off-season. If it's food you seek, go a little further to Gallery Place (Chinatown). Or just walk to the Old Ebbitt Grill, a classic DC bar.

Flight kept getting delayed had to stay over night in airport. AA didn t even give me a hotel. Not enough charging outlets, rude flight attendants. Do not catch a connection through here! Avoid at all costs!

My rating is one star because they do not allow rides shares such as uber or lyft easy access for pickup. Instead they pile only taxis in the area that is safest for pedestrians. They force anyone using these services to cross dangerous roads and sidewalks that are under construction. Forget the politics and take care of your customers.

I love the architecture of the DCA airport. And I also like the fact that it s connected to the metro, because having a ride on the metro is very fun. And as a result of how much I like the metro and how much I like the DCA airport, that s why I traveled to Washington DC for my birthday in August 2019.

I m use to MCO, Orlando International Airport, which is busy all the time! Reagan wasn t that busy and I was able to check in, drop off my bag, and get through security all within 45 minutes. There are great places for food outside the security gate and also for working. Seating near the gates is decent as long as you don t get there last minute. Also getting your baggage at the carousel was super quick. Quickest I ve seen in a long time. Traffic and getting around outside the airport can be pretty rough which is why I give it only 4 Stars

I normally review fine dining and hotels, but since airports are intrinsic to the travel experience I have decided to share my thoughts. First up is Reagan National Airport and it is one of my favorite airports to use.

It is accessible directly from the Metro subway system or a very quick cab ride from DC. The B and C concourse have an updated windowed feel to them with some great views of the monuments. TSA is a breeze here. Finally, there are some great dining options from some local restaurants. Overall, it is a great experience.

Hands down the worst airport I've ever flown into.

I walked out of my terminal into level 1 and asked about rental cars, the man said I had to go to level 2. I walked up and down level 2 and was told I needed to go up to level 3....walked up and down level 3 to be told I had to go outside....walked up and down outside and was told I needed to take a shuttle. VERY disappointed in this airport.

The TSA agents here were pretty rude as well, it didn't seem like they wanted to talk to anyone (I asked if I needed a separate bin for one of my items and a female TSA agent said it's not her line and to ask someone else) PLUS one of the workers cleaning the bathrooms was talking to himself about how he hopes to be living off the government soon...WTH? Very creepy....

Very close to DC

Very close to DC
If you have 4 to 5 hrs layover here, just go to DC for some time

On July 25, 2019, I went through TSA per-check at DCA at around 6:30pm. As the only Black woman in the line, I was told I was selected randomly for a pat down. It certainly does not seem random when all who zipped through ahead of me were not Black. The pat down was disgusting and degrading. The least the TSA agent could do is close back my bag what a way to treat people. This experience made me sick and sad at the same time. Travel now comes with so many experiences that just kill the fun and the thrill of trying new things. Thanks TSA for a great day NOT!!!! Don t wish me a great or good day after that type of treatment!!!!
