Love it. Awesome staff and volunteers. Helpful and knowledgeable guides.
Spend about 3 hours on average (easily).
I just went to see the Guillermo del Toro exhibition but will go back to see the whole gallery. Nice exhibitions and big, interesting place.
For art lovers it is very interesting, it has very nice and also innovative pieces
It has a huge collection of galleries paintings sculptures differnt type of arts. Its a 5 level gallery so make sure you plan a full day here. Also room for kids to enjoy and make arts. Lovely Place!
Sometimes I stare at myself in the mirror and think 'hell yeah Rod'
Excellent display of Canadian art. There are multiple pieces in exposition, but the Canadian section is the one that caught my attention. It is a great place to hang out, either by yourself, or with family and friends. There is free entrance on Wednesdays from 6pm to 9pm. The location is also great, close to the subway and there are street cars. It is not the best place to go by car if you don t want to pay for parking.
The AGO must be one of Frank Gehry's most subdued buildings but it is a great place to look at Art. Don't miss the big Jean- Paul Riopelle, the Augustus John Redhead or the Ship models.
Cool place to visit, Wednesdays after 6pm is free admission.
Paintings and selections are good, I can get lost here for a day and not get bored. A must see when visiting toronto
A great collection of Canadian and world art. Also holds art classes.
Love going there. Haven't tried Frank's restaurant yet.
Went to go see the Early Rubens exhibit several months ago, was beautiful. Free admission for those under 25 years old!
Nice place for a few hours, more suitable for families with kids.
The Gallery is a must go to in Toronto. Its exhibitions are worth your while and the special exhibitions are amazing. Check their website to be up to date.
Great place for family trips, plenty of arts and several kids play areas. Lack of parking around this place make it hard to visit with family though.
The Stettheimer was wonderful. Saw it three times and enjoyed it more each time. Also visited the Tissot in the European Gallery - wonderful works, including the small one next to it.
Thank you to the AGO for providing an annual membership for front line workers this year. That was much appreciated. I thoroughly enjoyed the Illusions temporary exhibit. Very well curated and so interesting to learn about the golden era of magic, the famous magicians and their back stories.
Great experience recommend the Art gallery great for the kids
Good variety, exhibit lighting could be better (ex: the ship exhibit was very poorly lit). Also would ve appreciated some sitting areas within the social distancing norms, it was very exhausting especially with elders. And a suggestion to consider adding some water fountains or a vending machine. Thanks.
Loved everything about my trip. Very focused on Canadian art as a whole which is lovely as it is under appreciated everywhere else. Favourite exhibit was a small bench with headphones and a painting across. Beautiful symphony and beautiful landscape.
The space is amazing. Collections are a mix of amazing and mundane.
We were amazed by the classical European and Canadian art pieces. remarkable place to channel past history!
Innovative building filled with permanent and rotating exhibitions. Collection of 100,000 works at the museum.
Great exhibitions, check out their social or web before going in to see what's on. Parking around but can be limited depending on when you go. Most staff are approachable and knowledgeable of the space. Awesome place for hanging out, date or if you're out of town.
Excellent Edward Burkinsky show. Breattaking and Troubling
Awesome place to bring a love one here for a date. Lots of many i interesting art.
The group of seven works are a delight to see! There is a very small collection of impressionist paintings which was nice too.
Beautiful building, great exhibits. Could use some more supplemental info of the exhibits.
So much fun to volunteer and Meeting new people with the similar interests as you!
Great exhibits but confusing to find numered rooms. Lacking flow. Cafe was lovely lunch.
Amazing place in toronto! They truly support culture
Just wonderful! Easy to get lost but the art makes up for it.
Beautiful museum, well curated art exhibits. Pricey - $50 for two adults general admission & special exhibit (Georgia O'Keefe)
Beautiful space. Centrally located and plenty of great restaurants around. Catch the AGO online for special events.
I live in Toronto, but don't get to visit the AGO much unless there's an exhibit I need to see or out-of-towners want to explore it.
I went with my best friend twice in 2017:
1. Nuit Blanche - Admission was free for the night with access to main corridors. Amazing! So many beautiful paintings and artifacts to behold from different eras all over the world
2. At Home With Monsters - a GDT exhibit featuring pieces from his movies and personal collection that blew my mind! He's one of my favourite directors and I was so happy to be in the presence of so many familiar characters, costumes, and more.
If you're debating whether or not to visit the AGO, please don't - just go.
A good way to spend a day in the city. There is a large permanent collection even if there is nothing special going on. A good mix between modern and ancient art, including some beautiful indigenous Canadian art.
Very artistic with lots of beautiful paintings from Picasso, Pagani ...
For art lovers, there is no better place to get cultured. I am not an art lover, but love the art.
AGO The art gallery in Toronto where great Canadian artists are exposed with different techniques such as oil, reliefs, works in Ivory and wood. Especially a great admiration for the impressive Thompson collection his work. They also have guests of great recognition and with pride Guillermo del Toro Exposes on this occasion. Congratulations to such great exhibitors and to the gallery, which is very well-kept and modern. It is a great place to attend with the family.
Quiet place, has a very good cafeteria. Wednesdays from 6 pm admission is free.
If you like modern art this is the place to be. Free at certain times of the week, it is a place of discovery of talent. The museum is really very beautiful and spacious. The museum is on 4 floors.
In the evening after 9 p.m a DJ is present on the center of the museum. Have a Fun
This modern (new additions have appeared on a semi-regular basis), is the largest in Canada and covers an area of about 11 acres!! The Art Gallery has 90,000 items. In addition to art from many periods [spanning the 1st to 21st centuries], there are works from many geographic regions.... and there are also sculptures and photographs. A major new addition was completed [designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry- who was brought up in this area] in 2008, which increased the viewing area by almost 50%!
I hope that this Review has been helpful.
5 floors of wonderful art, and special exhibitions every so often. Free admission Wednesday evenings!
The Grange Bicentennial Wedding Celebration 2017-09-29, marked the 200th year anniversary of my ancestral home (1817-2017AD) via Harriet Elizabeth Mann Dixon, now known as the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO); designated a world heritage site 1970AD. Many thanks to Professor D'Arcy Boulton VII & his wife Professor Boulton for all historical references, Ms. Jennifer Prince of the AGO for assisting with the wedding preparations & arrangements, Ms. Jocelyne Potvin of Canada Post in Ottawa for saving my wife's glass shoes from returning to Hong Kong, our Justice of the Peace from the Ontario Court of Justice who conducted Master of Ceremonies, TIZZ for my wife's exquisitely tailored gown & Allen of Daniel Jewellers for the custom jewellery. There are so many others unmentioned who made efforts & contributions, sacrificed their time, some of whom circumnavigated the globe to be in attendance, all of which made the celebration of my marriage to Mrs. C.J.E. Hudson Esq., on Fri. Sept. 29th, 2017, an exceptionally quintessential experience! Words do not properly portray my feelings in expressing my gratitude well enough as the event could not have been possible without everyone's combined efforts. Thank you everyone!
Went here for jazz night it was amazing fun drinks and food great place to go for a date or just out with friends.
good place, but there's some disconnect between the circulating art and what the majority of people actually want to see. still, a totally decent gallery though
Impressive pieces of art, quite different to European art! Loved it!
Went to Yayoi Kusama & it was a busy exhibition but worth the experience!
Beautiful experience! There is so much art this place has to offer which will make you realize so much about Canadian art and culture!!
Went to the opening night of the infinity mirrors and their new changes. Very pleased that they are making art accessible to youth, free under ages 25! This art gallery is HUGE and would take hours to explore every single detail of it. We did not take the main staircase to the second level so when we approached the attendant for the infinity mirrors, he was slightly rude when we told him we didn t have tickets for the exhibit. We did not know that there was a kiosk at the top of the main stairs. Asides from that, the night was great!
A wide variety of interesting exhibits. Visited during the free period (Wednesdays 6pm-9pm) but would definitely pay to return in the future. Not too crowded.
Lots of fun...i attended the google local guide appreciation event on tuesday and had a great time. I also checked out the mystical landscapes exhibit which was amazing
I always love visiting this art gallery, there are constantly changing exhibits. Something for everyone, even in the gift shop.
A nice museum with a lot of diversity. Beautiful Inouid sculptures and paintings
Free on Wednesdays, free for youth under 25, exhibitions and programs. Good events. Love.
Amazing art exhibits, really cool architecture in the building. Very friendly people to help with directions well situated around the gallery.
We went to see the impressionist exhibition. we enjoyed it, so it didn't have some of the paintings I thought might be present. Still it was nice to see some different artists who I didn't even realize were part of the impressionist period.
Just the variety of things there makes it all worth the visit. It is not enough to go for one day, if you do go for one day then make sure its for the whole day!
Beautiful facility with excellent, thought-provoking exhibitions.
Currently hosting Guillermo del Toro's "At Home With Monsters" exhibit. This exhibit is super awesome. AGO is an amazing place for art collections, perfect for dates, street parking all around. Walk to Toronto's fashion / entertainment district as well as Toronto's very own Chinatown.
New exhibition just started at AGO, Impressionism in thr age of industry. Great opportunity to learn historic movement of impressionism, and how they developed.
Came for the Guillermo Del Toro exhibit and I was blown away.
An incredible space with a wide range of artworks. The architecture of the building is marvellous, and opens up such an accomodating emvironment for artworls to sit in.
Always amazing place. Especially for members, well worth it.
