My 1st job after nursing school in 74 was El Rancho. I worked on the head trauma wing. One thing you learn quickly was that it was owned by L.A. County. Staffing was a problem but like all other hospitals it is something we worked around. As a patient in such a large facility, never expect to get a 8pm to 6am sleep pattern. When I worked there, there were no private rooms, it was 4 to 6 beds a room and having to take 6-8patientsment starting rounds for midnight began at 11 and finished at 1am. Then there were patients who had GT tube feedings, and resp. Treatments. They had an in house P&O facility that was ahead of it's time. I left in 78 to get my degree in P&O. Haven't seen it in almost 45 yrs, but from the pictures it appears to have gone underwent a total face lift.

I went in told I would never walk again, breath on my own, or talk. Completly paralized from the eyes down.
They happily helped and I saw fast recovery thanks to all their help. They are very knowledgeable and have a passion for what they do.
5 star treatment. 5 star staff.

I was admitted to Rancho Los Amigo's in August of '92. I have a '38 bullet lodged in my head/brain. 'Rancho' taught me to walk & began taking speech-therapy there. I don't have words to thank the 'Rancho Staff', enough for their patients. I thank God 'especially' for giving me a second chance. Rancho Los Amigo's is\was a God-given place for me/I. The Therapists are remarkably talented there.

This was part of my recuperation and they still are they don't give up on you they want to see you up on your feet and back to the world... was a patient there and they still help me. they don't reject me and none of any patients..."l"

In 1969, I went through rehabilitation at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center. Almost fifty years later, I still look back on my time there with gratitude. Without the therapists, nurses, doctors, etc., I would not be alive today. Thank you for everything you did for me.

I am a 7 year stroke survivor and have been cared for by Rancho Los Amigos' primary physician, physical therapists, occupational therapists, ear nose throat physician, optometrist, podiatrist and orthotic physicians.
I receive the best personal care from all physicians and they remember me as a patient and a person.
I have been living in the midwest for 2 years and come back to Rancho Los Amigos 2 times a year for doctor appointments.
They are just that professionally good.

Thank you Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilition Center Hospital for helping me to maintain a high quality disabled life.

Very nice and clean building but their Staff need better training on how to treat and acknowledge patients. Most of the Nursing staff ignore you and act as if they don't want to be there...and the Doctors don't sit and discuss your medical conditions, they're always in a hurry to leave the exam rooms as if they have a time limit. Administration needs to looks at these concerns in order to be a better Rehabilitation Hospital.

After being an in-patient at Rancho due to a motorcycle accident(not my fault lol), this place rose my expectations not just towards rehabilitation facilities, but towards staff as well!
Keep up the great work Rancho! =D

Exceptional staff from the janitorial workers, the meal delivers, the hospital administration workers, the counselors, nurses to the nurses aids, the PT/OT staff and their student workers, the doctors, and everyone else who works at Rancho Los Amigos. They made my stay there pleasant and fun while I rehabed my broken body.

I have visited the center twice, both times to see incredibly interesting presentations focused on technology positively impacting the disabled. Amazingly bright, caring and helpful staff. It's incredibly impressive to see the forward thinking of some of the staff at this center.

Pro tip - if you can't find parking on the ground level, go into the large garage to the left of the entrance.

This place is magical and amazing rehab center! Went I was sent here in a hospital bed transferred from the first hospital. I honestly didn't think I'd walk out of there. But my therapist (Tobin) told me you'll be walking again while he pushes me to my therapy session in a wheelchair. Well he was right back up on my feet but it wasn't easy at all is what I'll say.
You get 1 day off here which is Sunday, every other day you're in therapy lol. :)

The humane treatment of the medical teams, nurses, therapists and the staff in general is very excellent.
I arrived with a three-year medical condition of seeking help and at Rancho Los Amigos I found an answer to a highly qualified human treatment and above all with a comprehensive vision of the patient, a complete look that as a human being one deserves, I found it there. with God and the team of all the people who work in that impeccably clean place,
Respectful, with a lot of human quality that in my concept makes it a place where one can reach and receive help my most sincere thanks and hopefully they never change, because the patience they have for all patients is worthy of admiration and deserved recognition
Millions of thanks to the directives that as a company know how to maintain leadership on the concept of integral health and for the benefit of the patient, keeping a team prepared and updated

Have have tried many times to get a prescription into this facility.
All we get is indifference.
Sulema is the one that we are supposed to talk to.
She never ever answers the phone.
We leave a message and she has never called back. This is over several weeks to trying to get hold of her.
When we talk to someone else at the facility it is always the wrong person.
We get transferred to another department and the person answering the phone knows nothing about the situation.
It is very frustration.

If I had my choice I would fire everyone in administration because they are worthless.
The facility has a good reputation for physical therapy which we need but admin is so bad we can't get anywhere.
Why they are able to keep their license in beyond me.

Worst experience ever, I was there since 1(appointment is at 2) then get a room at 4:30pm and then Doctor comes in at 5:30pm when they are trying to get rid of the patients so they can go home and tells us oh guess what there are no X-rays for you so we can't see you. You need to come back in 2 weeks. And you need to go get new X-rays too. This is just a bunch of bull. Why not check if you have the X-rays when we got check in or got vitals done. Why wait until you are going home to tell us you will not see us. we are not the only patients complaining this clinic is not manage right. They need nurses that do there job right, when waiting in the waiting room many patients complain of how bad this clinic was, patients sat in the waiting room since 12 and got seen 10 min b4 us. Worst clinics to go see orthopedic.

Nice

This is the place where miracles happen! I'm convinced! Went to their "Spinal Injury Games" yesterday and saw some of the most amazing athletes competing hard and having a great time! Everything from Basketball and Touch Football to Tennis and an Obstacle Course! Can't speak to their ability to rehabilitate someone after a life changing spinal injury but these games tell me all I will ever need to know. This place is where miracles happen! I will pray to never need their services but if I do, I know I'd be in the right hands here!

Accessibility: SIX out of 5 stars. :D

The wellness center here is one of the best place to workout for me, I am a quadriplegic so going to a regular gym isn t as convenient, this gym is very accessible for me and others who has suffered a life changing injury or trauma, such as a stroke, traumatic brain injury, etc... this place has help me in so many ways, at first I was in a wheelchair for almost 4years and now after 6 years I am able to walk with the help of not only the gym but the people here, I now have so many friends who understand how difficult life is, I m not saying that by going to this gym that you will walk but it will help you in so many ways because each injury is different, I hope a pray that everyone does heals completely, remember it is said if you don t use it you lose it and I believe that 100%, if you don t try you will never know. Thank you Ranch los Amigos.

I'm here at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital as a patient I have a heart condition that I almost died from and I'm just trying to recover from this and go home. Now I was fine with the patient care that this hospital provided and I didn't have a problem with any of the morning and day shift nurses here but for some reason I'm now having problems with the some of the night shift nurses. So my whole stay here was is supposed to be a total of 6 weeks and I've been here since 07/05/2019 and today it is 07/16/2019 so this is my problem my last dose of medicine for the night is at 12-12:30am every day and my next dose is due at around 5-5:30 am so do the math roughly I only get about 4 hours of sleep every night not counting the time it takes to fall asleep. Let me say this before I get to the big issue, I know it's not anyone fault that I'm here receiving care in the first place and I do highly appreciate the staff who is working towards my recovery they are truly a blessing and a life saver to me. All I ask is for the staff to try and be considerate when it comes to my sleep time and meet me half way especially

Good so far after surgery. Bare minimal treatment with some good some rude staff. Medication they give you is a joke. Had a really bad first few days in screaming agony. Bandages not been changed since surgery. Left me expecting I had help and finical income to afford this recovery. Good Facility but needs to work on it's staff and patient care. I know we have strict laws and funding but I guess we will have patients cry in pain and suffer. Even though they did a good job so far. Will update when further recovery happens

My mom was admitted to Rancho for rehabilitation after a debilitating stroke. As stroke patients and their loved ones know all too well, the days following a stroke are immensely distressful. The sudden loss of independence and mobility was particularly hard on my mom - a normally super energetic, active, gregarious woman who would impart that warm, fuzzy feeling in everyone she'd cross paths with. She spent the first week at an unrelated hospital - which treated the underlying physiology of the stroke - reduced to a confined ball of anxiety and helplessness. It wasn't until her admission to Rancho when we saw the first signs of her recovery - her characteristic smile and a dollop of that famous humor.

Rancho's rehabilitation service is highly organized. A strong team of professionals is assigned to each patient. My mom's team included a doctor, physical therapist, occupational therapist, recreational therapist, speech therapist (she ended up not needing speech therapy), social worker and a rotation of caring nurses. The team was wonderful in their approach to my mom's treatment. They therapists began by understanding my mom's lifestyle, customizing her therapy so she could go back to doing the things she loved - painting, cooking & working out. She spent several days rotating through a well crafted regimen of occupational and physical therapies before being allowed to return home. Her wonderful team provided mobility devices and recommendations for home fittings that would reduce her risk for falls. Post discharge, she continued to have weekly sessions with Rancho professionals to monitor and shape her recovery. It has been almost a year since her stroke. My mom's back to her everyday self - walking to the gym, strolling the farmers market for fruits and flowers, becoming a proficient watercolor painter and doling out humor of course.

Thank you Rancho for the care and treatment, and GARGANTUAN thanks & high fives especially to the following All Stars: Brandon, Jennifer, Jojo, Dr Oranusi, Yolanda and Shelly! I was filled with admiration and appreciation watching these professionals go about their work. On top of their proficiency in restoring patients' abilities, they brought smiles, joy and energy to the hospital floors. I can't recommend them enough, and wish them all the success in the career goals they aspire toward - they certainly deserve it.

The physical therapist I had back in January -March 1994 was the most dedicated, skilled and compassionate medical professional I've ever encountered; and, I've had more than my fair share since then!

I've had pleasure of being a patient at rancho since 2005. I want multiple sclerosis patient. The doctors there are very personable and attentive to their patients. Dr Margaret Burnett is my neurologist and she is phenomenal. Walter Weiss and Sarah Wallenrod are my physical therapists and they have accomplished so much for me. I wouldn't feel comfortable anywhere other than Rancho. I would recommend them to any person with a spinal cord injury, stroke or neurological issue.
