My 1st job after nursing school in 74 was El Rancho. I worked on the head trauma wing. One thing you learn quickly was that it was owned by L.A. County. Staffing was a problem but like all other hospitals it is something we worked around. As a patient in such a large facility, never expect to get a 8pm to 6am sleep pattern. When I worked there, there were no private rooms, it was 4 to 6 beds a room and having to take 6-8patientsment starting rounds for midnight began at 11 and finished at 1am. Then there were patients who had GT tube feedings, and resp. Treatments. They had an in house P&O facility that was ahead of it's time. I left in 78 to get my degree in P&O. Haven't seen it in almost 45 yrs, but from the pictures it appears to have gone underwent a total face lift.
