We have stayed at Destin-West for four years now and have enjoyed each and every year. The staff is great and the resort is always beautiful and well maintained. Would definitely recommend this resort to all my friends.
Easy check-in. No issues with condo, clean and upkept. Wristband policy is a bit over-the-top.
The condo itself was very nice with beach access and the kids loved the pools. But our penthouse roof top deck had broken furniture and when I brought this up to the front desk I was told sorry but other units that they didn't manage had people jumping walls and destroying and stealing furniture. Please understand that if this is the case our unit was not safe because individuals could have come down this access and broken into our unit. We where told it was under investigation by security. No discount was given for not having access to what we paid for.
Great pools for the days when the ocean is full of algae or jellyfish.
Beautiful condo rentals. Exceptionally nice staff. Close access to the beach and the bay. Condos are beautifully furnished and exceptionally clean. They also have two pools, a lazy river, jacuzzi, and saunas.

Nice place, clean with a great pool and hot tub. Only thing we didn't care for was the lady who walked the pool asking guest to show their wristbands. It was irritating after the third time in three days. I came to relax, not be hounded.

It should be noted that the units are individually owned and outfitted differently. We stayed bay side. The unit we stayed in was amazing. Our family of 5 was very comfortable. The first thing that caught my eye was all of the landscaping around the pools. A lot of attention and care is done here. Pools were setup great and were very clean. There is quick access to boat rentals next door, and an accessible marina if you need to park and make a run. This was a great experience, we will be back next year.
In all our years of travel, we've never had a worst Master Bedroom disaster. First, the Bedroom had no curtains, which allowed much streetlight and traffic noise into the room. Second, the queen bed mattress was very poor quality and was squeaky with every turn. We would not recommend this rental. For the price of the room, it was not worth it.
Would rate higher but half the outlets don't work and the Wi-Fi is terrible. Good room though.
Our stay was wonderful and the grounds and condo were better than the pictures. Our family really enjoyed the pools and the walk over to the beach was not bad at all! We will definitely be back!

Resort is awesome but the company La Dolce Vita has control of where and how you set up your canopies and umbrellas. Stay in another resort is you aren t willing to pay for the companies chairs $35 a half day for 2 chairs. This company ruined our beach day all week.
Awesome place! Our extended family rented 3 more condos and we had a wonderful family reunion and vacation here! Disappointed that the lazy river was cold this year and the hot tub jets weren't working well this year, and the volley ball tournament brought a untastefully disrespectful crowd, needed some security staff to keep them quiet and such, but overall, we had a wonderful time at this property.
Been here a couple times. Really enjoy it and will be back.
Great little resort with wonderful pools and a lazy river. There is a bridge over the interstate to access the gulf side if you stay on the bay side. The rooms are privately owned though so make sure you check out the one you want thoroughly before you rent it as they're not all the same with all the same amenities.

We have a Villa Penthouse condo with our own personal hot tub on the roof. Hot tube didn't work when we arrived, they said they were working on it. They knew it wasn't working but didn't think it necessary to tell us. After 9 days it is still not fixed and we were told it would be another week. Television is unwatchable, satellite network is terrible. We tried watching Superbowl and decided to go to a bar it was so bad. I purchased a Roku so we could watch the Olympics, and the internet isn't good enough or fast enough to stream coverage. We had a rain storm two days ago and our unit was flooded by water coming in around the door. The big pool at the Ramada next door is down for repair and will be for our entire stay, no one thought to tell us that before or when we arrived. Stay away from the Villa penthouse condos. You can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig. The beach is beautiful and pools at other buildings are very nice, but think twice about Villa penthouse condos, and then ask for something else. We asked to be moved but were told there wasn't anything available. Half the units here are empty. One of the other PH condos hot tub leaked, management called them and asked what they were doing to their hot tube. STAY AWAY, save yourself and your vacation.
Our condo was very roomy for our family. The weather was not so good so spent some time in the condo.
This is our second time staying at this resort in the same 3 bedroom condo and we absolutely love it here. All of the condos are decorated professionally with great quality appliances, and the lazy river is to die for. I have been thinking about it all year and now i'm finally back!
Four star resort hotel with private, beautiful white sand beach, two heated pools, private hot-tubs for each suite. Large shopping section along streets surrounding resort... simply wonderful....
Late nights in the lazy river. Bayside rooms offer access to the shallow bay for swimming, fishing, crabbing, private pier available, lazy river, zero-entry pool, 2 hot tubs, and a swimming pool. Overhead walkways connects Bayside to Gulfside and beaches. Gulfside has access to beach, several pools which one includes a swim up bar and kids splash pad. Easy walking access to pier and boardwalk.
The rooms are great! Their is plenty around to visit and to go adventure, great for both kids and adults.
This is the best place to stay! Lazy river is our favorite. Plenty of places to eat and shop within walking distance.
So I really enjoyed the lazy river, pools and hot tubs! However, we stayed at a condo at Heron and out condo has NO locks on any of the rooms...not even in the bathrooms, which is just crazy. We booked a room that had a queen size bed and the descriptions vs the headline where they announced it was not both the same. One said queen and the other said full. We discovered It was actually a full sized bed. We were very disappointed they wouldn t discount it nor do something about it. My 2 year old was supposed to sleep in the queen sized bed however we just had to use a blow up which was no fun.

Rented a condo here for several days with a large group and we had a great stay, much better than what a comparable hotel would have been. Our rental had a hot tub and an excellent view of the bay, as well as WiFi and a full kitchen. Everything was very clean. We arrived a few hours before check-in and the management office let us stash our bags with them while we went out to eat. There is a pool and lazy river on site, but you're also a very quick walk over the skybridge to the beach proper. Would definitely stay here again next time.
The rooms are nice but vary as the renters may be the Destin West itself or personal residents. It has a wonderful lazy River and hot tubs for relaxing entertainment. Beautiful views if you are situated on the correct sides. The location is great. I would recommend a stay.
We've been coming here for years. Except that one year with circumstances beyond anyone's control, it's great. Always have a wonderful time, even the bad year!

The room was clean and stoked with plenty of towels. The pool is nice and it was easy access to the beach. I would definitely recommend it to friends as well as come back.
Very kid friendly! Very spacious place for everybody to stay comfortably. Clean condo, with so many different features.
Both king and queen sized beds were very nice and set up well. had a great view of the lazy river with brilliant light display. Bunk beds were a little lackluster, but overall very good stay.
Best place on Okaloosa Island! Rare location that offers access to the beautiful Emerald Gulf Coast but also has access to the awesome bay that is a jet ski or short boat trip away from the famous Crab Island. Rentals are next door, resort has their own private docks, a sky bridge walk away from other resort locations and there pools in addition to the resorts relaxing palm tree shaded lazy river, pools and hot tubs. Go all out and get the Penthouse with roof top that has an amazing 360 views ideal for sunset bay and ocean views! The fireworks that go on all month in July are breath taking! Many of the roof tops also come with grills and hot tubs! Treat yourself and the family and you ll catch yourself coming back every year! Friendly staff with security in pool areas and parking lot for piece of mind!

Washing machine smelled like it was burning. It flipped circuit breaker. Microwave would no other work on a higher power. Lock on patio door would no lock. Lighting was very dim in bathroom. Particularly in toilet area. Light bulb blew up and shattered over bathtub. The unit needs updating.
We had a great stay! So nice to be able to walk to restaurants, The Boardwalk, Gulfarium etc... Destin West property is very well taken care of. Having the gulf and bay was perfect!
Great for family fun. Kids loved the pools, beach was just a short walk away and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Room was very nice, overlooking the bay. Will definitely come back

had previous trip to this property years ago with a great experience so came back again this year. Not a very good experience this time. Main pool broke down and they shut down pool deck and forced everyone into a small pool that became over crowded. they handled it very poorly and management staff was very unfriendly about the situation. will not return, the property has declined.
Be careful of distance to beach from room when renting.

Room was changed prior to our arrival which resulted in increased rate, not good. Room was not clean, pool dirty, no blankets in room, had to buy one first night before they were supplied. Limited utensils, washing machine very loud. Refrigerator was not cool, fitness center dirty and no air conditioning entire trip even after complaining about it. Will not be back. Emily was courteous but that was about it. We have stayed here for years and noticed a BIG drop off last time so I gave it another try, never again. Felt cheated on the money I spent for our family vacation. Sorry, but it s the truth.
We stayed 4 nights in unit 511 gulf side. My review is overall positive. The resort offers a little bit of everything so there are some compromises involved. You can choose to stay bay side or gulf side. The gulf has the beach, a large pool, and a splash play area. If you stay bayside, you have the bay, a pool with waterfall, zero entry and a very nice lazy river. A bridge goes over highway 98 to connect the two resorts, so whichever you choose, you will have a bit of a walk to get to the other. All the facilities were nice. We were very excited about the splash area because we have a baby. Our second day there, it was closed all day because the floor was being painted. No one told us about this in advance, so it might be wise to ask when you book if all amentities will be functional. Also, a little tip for those who like the splash pads, there is no "pad". It's concrete and will hurt little feet. We had to go buy water shoes.
As for our particular unit. The view was great, but the unit was dated. It had an ugly jungle theme. The carpet and tile were gross. They definitely need replacing. The furniture was uncomfortable, with the exception of the patio furniture. We did love having a washer and dryer. The kitchen was stocked pretty well. If you are like me, and are used to hotels, FYI, there are no hangers and no blow dryer. There were many towels! A big plus at the beach!!! If we go back, we will try a different unit. I saw several with blinds open that looked very pretty.
Rooms are well appointed and close to the beech. There are several pools for guests. Close to restaurants and shopping.
It's a good resort. Be prepared for a lot of walking no matter where you stay on the resort. If you're on the Bayside, you'll have to deal with a long walk to the beach, where you will be unable to find a spot (because there's maybe a 50 yard strip of beach that the resort owns) prompting you to walk left, past the next resort, to the public beach. Plenty of pool spaces for those who don't want to do the walk or just want to catch a break from the heat. Having the bay is a plus, makes for enjoyable night strolls.
A great place to stay. Pool was kept very clean, rooms were nice. The pull-out bed/couch wasn't super comfortable, but it was okay. Lazy river was a big feature. An enjoyable place to stay.
Can I possibly give no stars? Let me start with saying that the amenities are fairly nice, but that s about where it stops. When you make your reservations, they tell you one thing and when you arrive it s different i.e. check in times - check in at 4 pm (verbally when making the reservations) is really 5:30 or 6 or whenever they get to it. We stayed at the Villas first then moved across the street to the Osprey then back to the Villas during our extended stay. The Villas were like a bad Motel 6 nightmare especially for $342 per night. Oh the smell of musty old worn out rooms that were not accommodating for one person, much less four people. Four towels were supposed to last four people for half a week... There was no oven, a two eye stove, microwave and smaller fridge. The furniture looked and smelled of a 1972 yard sale and the bed was as comfortable as sleeping on an old fold out couch.
The in house move was one of the highlights of the stay. The reservation specialist explained that in house moves are priority and that we would be able to check in early to the Osprey (well before 4p). After many calls, visits to the front office, and a final call involving a sarcastic front desk clerk, we were able to move to our new room at the Osprey around 5p. I m so glad that we didn t have a lot of groceries to move from the Villa to the Osprey but they would have been ruined being out of the fridge for hours after we had to check out of the Villa. And, they didn t have pool arm bands for us for most of the day (which are required to enjoy any pool or the beach). The sarcastic call was another highlight of the stay. When I talked to the front desk, I explained again that we were an in house move and was hoping to get in our room soon, she told me it wasn t ready yet (4:30p) so I asked her if she could give me an estimate on when it might be clean. She said she would call and check and let me know. Since I had been told this repeatedly with no return calls, I asked her when she would be able to let me know. Her response was how about five minutes and 23 seconds? Will that work for you? I mean I don t know?!?! As you can imagine I was less than happy about that and let her know that I didnt appreciate her unprofessionalism. She immediately called back and said I got on them and the room is now clean. Keep in mind it had only been 30 seconds since we hung up the phone from the previous call.
Finally, we get in the Osprey, which was very nice and much more worth the high rates we paid. Time to relax in the Lazy River! That s when we met the mentally unstable security guard. We will call him Mike. He is the younger of the two that were there regularly. He apparently has a hard time working with people in public and decided to label my entire family as trouble makers for the entire trip because one of the party didn t see the sign to keep drinks four feet away from the pool water. This guy made it his personal goal to pick on our family the rest of our stay, to the point that we had to talk to the Sheriff s department about possible harassment charges. We talked to the Association on site (who is responsible for his company s contract) and they responded with I will take care of this as soon as you leave my office. You won t have to worry about him anymore. Well let s just say that was real productive. It wasn t just a few hours and he was right back at it, harassing our family.
After a few days we were back at the Villas. It was a nice change of scenery to get back to the musty old smell of the 1972 yard sale furniture and horribly uncomfortable beds. The in house move was a similar experience as the previous one. Calling, begging to get move over and unorganized chaos. What a horrible experience. I will never give them another dime of my hard earned money. We had four rooms rented out from Friday to the next Saturday and spent a lot of money to vacation where we could have most of our family in one spot. The least they could have done was to keep their word on the things they promised in the reservation call.

is a lot of fun for the whole family. But keep an eye on your belongings. My grandson had his slides (flip flops) stolen and also his little brother's stroller was stolen.
This is the ultimate vacation spot in northwest Florida.With the lazy river and all the.beautiful white sand and views of such grace and beautiful natural land scape s will take your breath away!

This hotel was very close to the beach but there are a number of things that they don't mention when you book. 1.) partial view means there is no view. 2.) only certain hotel rooms get free beach chairs, others have to pay $35 a day. You don't have any say in which room you are in so it's just a 50/50 chance on if you have to pay out of pocket for beach chairs. 3.) you do not get any hospitality service so hang up your towel everyday so that you can have a dry towel after your shower. 4.) the mattresses/sheets need a serious update. We found over who got to sleep on the couch. 5.) there is no ice maker on site.
We've gotten a room on a corner, rooftop view room, bottom room with a grill... next we'll book with a jacuzzi
Stayed in the bay side. Pool was awesome. Walk to beach was a little long like 3 elevators, a ped bridge etc. Condos are a good size. We had 5 adult and one child.
