It is a lovely place for people who love trying new stuff.
Good place to ice skate. Wish they had coffee or hot chocolate.
We go here for both open skate and the track out camp.
We love it.
Best place in the Triangle for all your ice skating needs.
Rentals and skake shop available.
I really love to ice skate. This rink is #1 on my list! Also, the people running the store are really nice and obliging when I have problems with the skates I own.
Been skating here for years. Love it! Especially Tuesdays
This is the only ice skating rink that I will ever go to because it is so amazing
This place is popular on a Saturday! I am teaching my son to skate and he has a blast!
The ice here is great! the rink isnt too cold and it's never to crowded. I skate early in the morning and even then everyone is very friendly. Ice time isn't too expensive either. a pretty great rink all in all.
Home of the NCSU IcePack. Limited seating but inexpensive night out for college hockey battles with great access to ice. Love the IcePack!
Good place to ice skate, the staff is very attentive and friendly.
It was very nice! We had lots of fun there. The ice was a little rough but given the public skate time (2 hours when I went), they wouldn't have had the chance to smooth it out. Many people in my group had trouble getting their skate size because they ran out of a lot of the sizes but there were also a lot of people there so it was understandable.
Im a sad cat but this place makes me cry of joy i just love its cheap prices and its just amazing
My boys didn't perform like I know they can. But all in all it was a hard fought game, despite the loss. My son, Spencer, is capable of a lot more. But he definitely isn't as good of a hockey player as his old man (me).
This place keeps it cold. Bring blankets and gloves if you plan on hanging out for a game or two.
Great place to skate for a reasonable price. Staff is friendly and helpful. Only reason I m not giving five stars is because the bathrooms are small terrible and seem to need cleaned....
Huge ice and friendly staff. A great place to skate and play hockey
Great place to take the kids ice skating. Just check the schedule to make sure there's not hockey our skating practice.
Our child practices here, it's great! Hockey is for everyone
This is a review of GOOGLE - not the Raleigh IcePlex! The hours posted by Google (for example if you just search 'raleigh iceplex')are COMPLETELY WRONG for public skating! You have to go to the Raleigh IcePlex website to find the correct hours. IcePlex says they have emailed Google and tried to get it corrected, but nothing yet!
We like to skate here when the Garner ice rink has hockey games
One of the nicest rinks in the area. A real Olympic sized sheet of ice. Offer Figure Skating freestyle ice times as well as public and hockey. Skate school classes for those who want to learn to skate are staffed by competant ice coaches.
I visited on a weekday morning. Huge rink. Ice was in fantastic condition. Only a few people skating in the two hours I was there. Inexpensive public skating if you have your own skates. Already looking forward to going again on my next Raleigh trip.
Great facility, but near impossible to get on the phone. Difficult to get any information without showing up in person.
My son plays hockey at this rink often. The ice and size of the rink are great. The lobby and party room offer enough space for players, families, and lots of gear. There are two reasons I didn't give five stars. First, the bleachers are dangerous. The top bleacher is such a steep climb & my four year old fell off of it. Second, the locker rooms are very small which makes it extremely difficult to get your young child dressed with two teams, coaches & parents sharing one locker room.
Massive ice surface when doing skating drills. It got bigger as the night went on.
It's a nice place but it really cold of you are going to watch someone else play sports here. The lobby is heated and clean but the rink is freezing.
Monopoly has led to dangerous conditions. Since they have no competition with other ice rinks, now that Polar runs basically all of the rinks in Raleigh/Wake Forest, they've allowed ice conditions to deteriorate. Lines are barely visible on the rink and there's a small channel that runs along the boards, probably explains why there's been several broken legs in the past couple of months.
The officiating for the men's hockey leagues is as poor as the ice conditions as the officials often let anything go either because they're incompetent or inattentive.
It was awesome! I haven't been skating in 10 years and had so much fun here. I wish public skate times were longer, but I had a blast.
Staff are friendly and everything is usually pretty clean. However, if you go with a young child and are expecting buckets or something to assist them, they no longer provide them.
The facility is really nice with the option for public skate at some times during the day. The weekday rate is $6 for entry and $3 more to rent skates. The public rink is large and almost never crowded.
So much fun!! The staff is really nice too. Wish they had later free skate but.. I can work around it!!
Track Out Camp is a JOKE! I have signed my daughter up for several different camps around Raleigh to get different experiences. I thought, hey, why not try the IcePlex since it is on my way to work. I had visited the facility prior and it looked as though they had a nice inviting classroom for kids. Since my daughter had done camp at The Factory before, I figured she could get some lessons on skating and be closer to my work. Yea, not so much! Their idea of lessons is to put all the kids on the ice and set them free. There was nobody there to help beginning skaters learn new skills. In the classroom, it was all about the 60 in TV rather than actually doing anything constructive activities. From the moment I dropped her off in the morning until the moment I picked her up in the evening, the TV was on. My daughter is honest and did tell me about her experiences. On the second day, they were all punished and were not allowed to go on the ice in the afternoon because some other students did not listen to the "teacher" (very loosly considering them teachers as they didn't actually teach anything) and were getting into lockers. Why were all kids punished? Those in charge (two 20 somethings) have no experience engaging students in activities which is why the kids were off task more than on task. There were discipline issues daily according to my daughter. I don't need something totally structured like actual school as this is camp and they should be able to have some fun and some play time. However, I do not agree with getting paid to sit kids in front of a TV for hours on end and not actually engaging them in any sort of structured activities. WASTE OF MONEY!!! NEVER AGAIN!! You might as well hire the neighbor kid to watch TV with your kid as they would get just as much engagement as they got here.
Such an awesome experience and place to hang out and watch some curling.
Staff was friendly and it's really cheap for the good experience that they offer
Cool place! Staff are helpful. Ice is great and the crowd is fun. My kids like to skate here.
Ice is ok can be very crowed. Ok location ok clean.
I've played beer league hockey here for several years. It's not particularly clean or well maintained but one must manage their expectations of an ice rink in the south. The folks that work there are great and the adult leagues don't suffer any unique problems you wouldn't find at any other rink. I'm glad it exists or I'd be playing hockey at some other rink
The skates were so ungodly uncomfortable for both my fiance and I, we left 30 mins after we finally got on the ice... Even after trying their hockey skates for the second go round. Though they were better I have never felt pain like this before and I don't ever have this problem with any type of footwear. Roller skates, blades or any other skates ever did this before. Won't come back.
This is a nice place for ice skating! I arrived at the start of their public skating time on a weekend, and there was only a small crowd. The rental skates worked well for me, and the customer service was great.
We love going skating here. It has a great nostalgia feel to it.
Son plays hockey here. Pretty good house league. They have lots of fun. Only saw rental skates twice. All the laces were horrible, couldn't tie properly and they were too short to go through all the eyelets. WiFi is pretty hit or miss, doesn't work most of the time.
We had a great time skating and hanging out. Ppl were nice, they were aware that everyone wasn't a professional speed skater. Lol
This place is so cool! It's not really crowded most of the time and there's always room for you on the ice. It'd be a great place for a birthday party or just for you to hang out with friends! I went with my friends and we had so much fun!
Love this rink! My oldest really enjoyed their track out camp while we lived nearby. The staff here are great and so sweet to my kids. The rink is always in great shape and is HUGE. Bring your jacket though. This rink stays a lot colder than others in the area
Had a great time...bear in mind if you are a giant like me and have a giant foot which would require a size 15...you're not gonna find it here...I had to wear 14s and they were not comfortable.
Biggest sheet of ice around. Ice is usually in good shape.
Only available to skate for one hour. If you want to skate, go to the sports plex instead.
Best sheet of ice in the Triangle. The only olympic sized sheet in the area. Highly recommended for public skating, birthday parties, track out camps, learn to play hockey, and much more. Public skating is usually not too crowded, but get there early so you can have fresh ice because they don't usually resurface during the 2 hour public skating session. They offer skating lessons, learn to play hockey, adult hockey, figure skating, and kids camp. The pro shop offers skate sharpening, fitting, equipment, and more. A skating vending machine has laces, tape, and other small items. There is no longer a snack bar, but the drink vending machines take debit/credit cards, and the snack machine takes cash/coins. Not cheap, but not a great value.
Rather crowded. Excellent venue, service, and product.
Large rink compared to others in the raleigh area. Fair prices.
Went on a date 4 dollars a person. It's affordable and fun.
Worked with Andy to get the name changed on my hockey jersey. His communication was great, emailed regularly and quickly. Very affordable pricing. He even lowered it when he couldn t do all the work we originally decided on. He s very polite. I m very pleased with his work, and I d recommend Andy to anyone needing adjustments to their hockey jersey.
Best ice surface in Raleigh, and the olympic sized rink makes for some really open, fast hockey. The league could be run a bit better and the game times are all over the board, but the facility itself is top notch.
good big rink. it gets pretty busy during public skate and i dont think they zamboni enough during public skate and their prices are a bit higher than id like, but other than that its pretty good. do bring your gloves its a bit colder than other rinks ive been to. they have lots of skates to choose from so if a type doesn't work for you there are others. customer service is great! the 4 starts is just bc they dont zamboni their ice often and that can cause problems.
Ice plex is one of the only rinks in the Carolinas that is Olympic-sized. It is a great facility. They could use some upgrades and repairs in the locker rooms..that's the only reason for 4 stars.
The rental skates were terrible. They were old and my feet hurt after one lap. This was the same for everyone in my group. For the price we paid we did not get a great return.
The place is well maintained and looks nice but the variety of shoes isn't too great, especially for people with wider feet. I'd reccomend bringing your own.
Not too happy the skates was old worn out looking it needs some help in the parking lot as well maybe make it look nice I'm just saying
It had a great time ice skating here. The service was fast and friendly.
Fun place to go for hockey games. Friendly staff! It's right in the middle of a lot of things in Raleigh. If you go to an NC State hockey game a bit late they don't make you pay for a ticket. Not sure if that was intentional but pro tip
Great staff that is very helpful. Facilitated a great birthday party for my daughter
I have been coming here for classes and I have learned so much already. I am also going to their skating camp. The activities there are so much fun.
Was there for the Curling Night in America event. It was fantastic.
What a zoo! I get the whole ice skating thing, someone needs to rethink the travel path especially when you have several birthday celebrations. Multi-window check out and I didn't see anyone older than 17 running things. The place is located in the heart of a neighborhood which makes for a interesting ride to the ice plex. I have been into other ice rinks that separate the activities with less room. Kids still had a good time, parents were pulling their hairs out.
Good ice and lighting. Fun to play hockey here. Locker rooms are beat up. -1 for locker rooms.
My family and I had a great time. Maybe should have more than one staff member working though.
Good prices, helpful crew. Whole family event. Went with a friend, and staff helped walked us through getting blades and lacing. Helped on basic movements and overall friendly. Will be going back again with a bigger group. Fun for any age range. Be sure to check the calendar for public skate times.
It's a pretty typical skating rink. This time when we went, the skates hurt our entire party (4 different genetic lines) in the exact same way. That doesn't make me very happy because it seems like the skates could be better, rather than us just having wimpy feet.
I like this sheet of ice. Always nice to go to stick and puck during the week.
I play adult hockey here in the evenings and have grown to love the place. It's not brand new and the owner of the pro shop doesn't seem to care much about sales as he's told me twice over the years that they're closed even tho the hours of the store clearly state they don't close for 20 or so minutes. Still, it's a great place to play ice hockey and many people come to cheers their friends on, which is pretty cool. My kids love all the arcade games and vending machines as well. I've only rented skates once here and they were not brand new nor top of the line, but was glad they were available.
