This is not a real resort, just a hotel with a swimming pool and bad restaurants. The staff needs better training on how to be efficient and go the extra mile for guests. On arrival we were given our room key but no information. We had to specifically ask everything - where is the restaurant? What are the pool bar hours? Is there somewhere for coffee? Etc etc. I found out on the last day there that there is a regular shuttle to Target, Fountain Hills and other places. Would have been good to know! The concierge is never there - I asked at the front desk and their only response was it would be best to book my own tours because the concierge seemed to be avoiding work . She thought that was funny, I didn t. The food at the main restaurant is quite good but the service is terrible and extremely slow. They offer associated excursions like Segway tours and horseback rides but these are somewhat offsite and there is no shuttle. I asked at the front desk and they said maybe the shuttle could take me to the Fort McDowell adventures which was advertised all over the hotel but they never did call and I ended up taking Uber. When I arrived at my excursion the host warned me Uber would not come out there to pick me up, and that the hotel was supposed to take me! Luckily some other guests nicely drove me back to the hotel or I would have been stuck walking miles on the highway in the sun. They seem to only care about their golf guests and not others. The casino is smoky and sad, and the restaurants in there looked terrible but I couldn t eat there due to the smoke. The location is remote which is not so much a plus because there is not much around there. I walked the on site trail but it s in poor condition and not well marked. The pool is nice and the pool bar was the best part about this place. Would not return - many better actual resorts run more professionally in the region.
Nice secluded resort. Spa is amazing. Had lunch and dinner at anhala restaurant. Lunch food took long and it came out cold. Dinner the food was excellent and came out on time. Their bartender Michelle makes a mean Margarita. Highly recommend!
Gwendolyn, working the High Limit bar. She is awesome! Watching the whole floor and the bar. I wanted a bottle of wine from Ember and she made it happen! She delights without being intrusive. Please stop and see her! As a restaurant manager I would steal her in a heartbeat. She is the best!
The location is far removed from any city amenities. That being said, the hotel was nice. We were unhappy with the cleaning service, but we are also not very particular.
Nice, clean, friendly service. Casino is nice too. Dealers are social.
I did not stay at the resort I only used the parking lot for the Spartan race. The parking lot was clean and large.
It's nice but more of just a standard Holiday Inn. To far from everything for me.
Will not be coming back here, restaurant staff and front desk staff very rude and unprofessional. Called and emailed managers about incident and weekend issues, they apologized in emails but nothing was handled or offered to make better, refund money, or offer complimentary service for their staff disrespecting us guests. Do not recommend.
Front desk was rude and they don't welcome you with joy or anything. Food was good but the waiters and waitresses are so eager to remove your plate and drink quickly when you're not even done.
Everything was fine except that wifi was slow and the TVs brightness was too low that I can t even se the TV and there was no way to Change it
Still going to call it Fort McDowell..... But its a good place don't care for the name change.
Machines are tighter than tight...cant win here. No one at tables...dont want to play head to head...
Beautiful...nicest fireworks display I have ever been to....very happy hear.beats last Vegas any time....even enjoyed. Seeing. Wild horses. Come thru the property....guess they were. Coming to see fireworks show to.
Awesome place! Been here for the past 4 years for my birthday and will keep coming back!
If you want to give up all your money and not win. Then this is the place to go
The new casino is beautiful. The slot machines are elegant looking. There are many machines that are protected with a plastic shield making us feel safe with Covid-19. Great casino. A must try. Bonus 100% smoke free.
Restaurant employees were great. And the meal was the best. The casino is beautiful.
Was not impressed.the parking was horrible.Big building but not impressed
New facility is awesome, no smoking inside makes it even better
VFW Arizona convention was held there end of May to beginning of June. Due to construction they put on a whole team to help transport to and from the parking lot. They were very effective, friendly, and available to help. Good job! As to accommodations it was at or better than 2 years ago even with the construction. Several of us made use of takeout at the Casino notably the Silver Dollar for afternoon lunch which turned out very tasty and convenient. Conference rooms were setup well. Roughly about 1 hr 45 min drive from north Tucson using I-10, I-202, I-101, upper I-202 then Srt 87, Beeline, to Resort entrance after Shea Blvd, but before Ft McDowell Casino entrance. I hope we keep them in rotation.
Two of the finest courses you will play almost anywhere, with the cutest and the friendliest cart girls you ever did meet... Pricey in season as you should expect at a course of this magnitude, but during the hotter summer months you can play 18 holes for 40 bucks, and then replay the other course for free!!! Don't forget to tip your cart girls generously. They're not driving around in 107 degree weather all day long just to give you a cup of ice for nothing!
I would recommend this to all people who love to swim
Previously known as Fort McDowell Casino, mammas favorite bingo spot back in the day of daubers and coin buckets...
I'm sure momma would feel the same way about We-Ko-Pa.with the clean, fresh nee gaming floor and the fantastic staff,.. Plus a resort!!... Who can't love it.? Again, Fantastic Staff! Super friendly always make you feel welcome. Good job!!
We had a great time! Rooms are spacious, clean and have many upgrades. Robe was in the closest with the safe, soaps etc were from Bath and Body and actually smelled good! Staff was very pleasant and helpful. The casino is a short walk away, less than a minute from hotel exit. Valet was included with the stay. Highly recommend this hotel, we enjoyed our stay cation!
Their rooms are great, everyone is very nice and helpful, Tuesday bed is quite comfy and the pool is great. There is currently construction going on for the new casino so it's a little hecktic but they compensate for it nicely. It's so nice we will be coming back soon and having our guests stay here for our wedding.
We stayed a couple of weeks before the new casino was scheduled to open, the room was very nice. Came back after casino reopened and am extremely disappointed since they replaced many machines I used to make the trip to go and play. Won't be back as often.
We really enjoyed our stay. The staff and service was excellent. We ate breakfast and lunch at the restaurant and it was fabulous! We would highly recommend this resort.
The buildings and grounds reflect the natural beauty of the surroundings.
I have stayed there a few times. Casino offer 2 days with points. Always great room with
Kind staff. Immaculate everywhere.
Restaurant is awesome with menu and great food. Great prices. Comp. Breakfast.
Far drive from downtown Phoenix but the food was very good from the conference center.
Nice stay love the pool and the beds are super soft
Beautiful facility. It will be too of the line once the new casino is complete. The new resort hotel is beautiful and meticulously clean
Great place to stay, excellent pool. Pretty far from the airport, food options are limited at the resort.
Got here got up to my room and on the 5th floor facing the mountains. And key wouldn't work, they sent a maintenance Man to my room. He changed out the batteries in the door and that still didn't work, so I had to go down to the desk and get a new key for a new room on the fourth floor room 417.
Had a great weekend for husband's birthday ! The staff were very helpful everyone was so nice! The rooms were nice very clean and the bed was super comfortable! What made it even better was it was a free offer for two nights and it was good for the weekend not just during the week plus $15.00 each day for food or free play n casino. sweet! I would have liked it even if it wasn't free we will definitely go again!
There's a lot of construction which makes it a little more walking to navigate. When it's finished in 2020 it should be very nice
Very friendly staff and a wonderful room with a view. Cannot wait to return!
Our stay started off great but they had construction that sounded like it was right above our room and it started at 7AM. When attached to a 24 hour casino, you'd think they would be a little more caring about not starting so early. We called the front desk to check if it was construction and before my fiance could even finish his sentence, the front desk said "It is." and hung up. How unprofessional and rude. Not even a sorry for the disturbance or courtesy to let him finish speaking. I understand they're under construction but starting before 8AM on a weekend and doing it above a room THEY put a guest in is awful.
It is so comfortable and beautifully decorated and everyone there is so friendly and helpful!
Good vibe, most dealers were friendly, and drinks are priced well.
Nice quieter resort. Pool wasnt crowded on a June weekend (temps were in the low 100s). Bell hop (or whatever they are called now) was super friendly, helpful, gave us some good places to eat. Beds were AWFUL. My back and neck are still hurting and that's not something I've had before. You can hear yourself clunk when you sit or lay down on the bed. It almost sounds like the mattress is sitting on a plywood box. That reason alone, we probably wont be going back. Food selections were really minimal and the wait staff at the restaurant was disinterested at best. We literally had to go find someone for the check and then again to get change. But the pool was lovely and the views of the desert were beautiful.
Great rooms. Super comfy bed. Great service. Great pools. Will stay here again.
Very nice rooms. Very nice staff.
Great view.
The resort was very well maintained. Rooms were nice and clean. Keurigs in the room were a nice touch for a morning cup of coffee. The view from my room was amazing, over the pool, watching the sunrise over the mountains. However, the other side faces the construction which is less than optimal. I was here for a work conference and not the golf or casino, but I heard fantastic things about the course from others that came in early and played, and many of my coworkers won money in the casino, so that s a plus! From a convention perspective, they did a fantastic job taking care of our group of over 300. All the rooms were nice, chairs were comfortable. All food including breakfast, lunch, snacks, and a seated dinner was very good. I would definitely recommend this place for a convention.
It is renovated and beautiful, near a golf course, and next to Fort Mcdowell Casino. Has beautiful rooms with views, of the mountains and desert.
Love this place. Always great service and fine amenities. I don't gamble . . So can't comment on the casino.
Totally new casino... I Enjoy Everything about it.... many machines to play... different games.... I love it.
Now you can get a drink asap. More bars and more bartenders. Bring in some older machines
The location and rooms were very nice. It's the people I had a problem with. Me and my family stayed= the kids loved the pool. After playing through an unmentional amount of money with my card In their casino, I requested an extra 30 minutes to check out I was told absolutely not. Very rude
We stayed a few nights ago at the resort and I have to say well done! The staff at the check-in desk were extremely polite, friendly and welcoming. The new casino is stunning and the parking garage is handy. Games are new and modern and we were able to spend some time on them and be entertained. The only negative about our stay was the ribeye at Ahnala. The soup and salad were great, but the steak was of poor quality. Overall still a great night away. Can't wait to visit again!
Great place to stay. Employees were great. Plenty of places to eat.
Gaming not all that great, but I sure had a blast at the pool and nice clean hotel rooms! I'm a very picky guest and not even I complained once about their services and rooms...ALWAYS CLEAN...JUST THE WAY I LOVE IT! COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR MORE!THANK YOU We-Ko-Pa Resort for an amazing resort get away experience!
Everything perfect. Breakfast was not included. So here's an assessment missing
What a place to get lost, literally! We had fun getting unlost!
A very nice resort with wonderful rooms. We were amazed with the sunset view and also the beautiful decorations around the resort.
The rooms were the best highlight. Beds are comfy and room was spacious.
If you want to get food, go into the casino to buy them as they are cheaper. And there are also a variety of food available in the casino.
Overall definitely would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!
I was impressed with the new casino and restaurants. It's all brand new including a lot of new slots. I recommend checking it out yourself.
Great staff, great food and games. The ember restaurant was a very cool experience.
I had the pleasure of visiting this casino on my birthday January 10, 2021. By far, this casino is the nicest, cleanest casino I have been to in AZ. Everything was new, there was no smoke smell, the chairs were new and super comfy. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. I can't wait to go back! Next time I will absolutely reserve a hotel room and enjoy an overnight visit! Thank you We-Ko-Pa!
Love this place! Reasonable rates, good food, amazing pool, and relaxing atmosphere. 4 instead of 5 stars because I did not like the standard shower head with little water pressure.
Its a nice get a way from home type of place. That quiet place you been looking for but still in reach of the big city. Then here is a good spot for you and the kids. Pool has 3 to5 ft swim area and 2 Jacuzzi and a splash pad with a putter course. But is not medical marijuana friendly must medicate in the car for now. But have fun
I have a lot to say, but the poop-stained sheets were the most memorable part. We booked the Romance Package through their web site. It stated that we would have a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries delivered to the room, complete with a mountain view. There was no such view, saran-wrapped berries that had been there for who knows how long, and an $8 bottle of cab instead of champagne. Before booking, I called to ask if there was still construction going on and whoever I spoke to (Veronica? Victoria?) said she didn t think there was. There was. To get to the casino from the hotel we had to walk in the rain. We thought we d use the $50 dining credit the site said we could use in any of the casino restaurants, like the web site stated we could, but the front desk woman would not let us. We were quoted a $154 rate on resort s site but were told it would be about a hundred dollars more when we arrived. We also purchased a groupon for their Amethyst Spa, which stated 30% off hotel accommodations, but she refused that too. We were feeling frustrated but trying to remain optimistic until we pulled our sheets back to find massive fecal stains from the last guest smeared all over.
We had an appointment to visit the Amethyst Spa for a couples massage. They called ten minutes before the appointment to cancel.
Enjoyed this venue for our annual conference! A nice change to the conference centers in the middle of town.
Large Clean Rooms, Friendly People. I was there 4 Nights, 5 Days. There was a sink hole which left the Hotel with no water, but they stepped up to make sure all the guests had water to drink, soda, donuts, and Fruit, and brought in facilities to use as the bathrooms were out of order. They also had tankers of water brought in for A/C!!! Great Group.. The Lines were fixed in less than 24 hours and all was back on track. The food was OUT STANDING!!! Hiking Trails great!!
I will stay here again!! You should too!!!
The rooms are a little dated, but all in all it is a nice hotel.
