As a student who had recently changed jobs, I was at a point where I did not have health insurance. Had an accident and fractured one of the vertebra in my neck. Between the initial emergency room fees and all of the follow up appointments with a specialist while uninsured, I drained my emergency funds. After about a month or two, all the different medical bills for my hospital visit started coming in. There was no way I could afford them, and every different department that entertained the idea of making payments would not settle for small amounts every month, so I could not go that route either. I ended up contacting the coliseum and applied for financial assistance. I mailed off all of my pay stubs for the year, and had to send them all of my banking information and invoices from previous months. This shows them EVERYTHING, which means you cannot hide anything in regards to how much money you have to your name. The assistance place saw that my accounts had pretty much been bled dry at that point, and covered everything I still had left to pay on my invoice. Never been so relieved. Basically, they send a letter saying your account was taken care of and closed out. I even requested additional proof with an invoice for everything paid, so it is all listed, with the coded items, and a $0.00 balance to the right. Every. Single. Company. I called who I owed money to, accepted this, I mailed them a copy, and they made sure to close everything out so I would not keep getting bills in the mail. Radiology Associates had CLAIMED that they honored this when I told them I was waiting on approval (also, they did not want to wait for the approval, and wanted my to start making monthly payments in the meantime.... but the reason I was applying for aid was because I didn't have the money..). I mailed Rad Associates of Macon the letter saying my debt was wiped. First of all, it took them over a month to "get the letter into their system". Meanwhile, they harassed me with letters in the mail, even though I was calling every week to check on my letter's status. FINALLY they processed the letter and WOULD NOT ACCEPT IT. The code and invoice numbers on the letter I sent them were exactly the same as what they were billing me for, and even though it showed the item, initial charge, and a new charge of $0.00, the woman one the phone said that wasn't good enough. She sounded very upset on the phone, and told me since the letter from the financial assistance place didn't say the PERCENTAGE covered, it was against their policy to accept it. As in, the letter said my new charges were $0, but since it did not say *100%* was covered, it wasn't good enough. I told her that if the initial charges were $700-something dollars, and the new charge is $0, that means it was 100% covered (the math is quite complicated, I know.) I asked her to double check, she claimed to check with someone else, and still would not accept this letter. I asked what she wanted me to do, because I had laid everything out to the assistance place, and didn't have to money. I then asked if I could call the assistance place and get a new letter with 100% written on it, if that would work. She said yes, and to send it to them when I got it. I called the assistance place, told them the situation, and they agreed to send me a new letter. WELP, Radiology Associates of Macon wend ahead and sold my account to collections. Awesome job. They basically wanted to get me off the phone, so they could turn me over. Ended up having to work out payments with collections (which are lower than the minimum Radiology Associates of Macon were willing to take.) I think the way they handled the situation was ridiculous, and they should have just told me from the start that they did not honor financial assistance programs, instead of lying and saying they did. No other billing departments gave me trouble like them. They even made sure to tack on some late charges while waiting on the whole assistance situation to go through, which was really nice.
UPDATE:Said they would refund me, & never did. 0 stars.

Received a bill for $20.80 which we promptly paid. The check cleared our account 7 days later on 5/27. End of June we received a past due bill so 7/9/20 we emailed all documentation and cleared check to the email address on the bill. We never received a reply and now they have sent the bill we paid to collections! I called today and they said they will research the payment but I have to call back in 4 to 6 weeks to find out the status! Ridiculous way to do business. Glad it wasn't more than $20 or it could affect our credit, even though it was paid.

Employee singing so loudly in the back that you hear her in the waiting room. It was not comforting but more like unsettling. Unprofessional and unwanted. Evidently she thinks people want to hear her sing.

They use a billing company out of Indiana named Zotec. Zotec is the most incompetent company I've ever had to deal with. They are horrible! In fact, I try to avoid doctors that use Radiology Associates and will no longer use the doctor that has billed us through them. The only reason I gave them a one star is I had to in order to post.

These people billed my insurance, was paid in full and still billed me. They sent me to collections, my lawyer sent them a check, they never updated their collections agency and I am still being harassed. Ridiculous!!!!

We have had to use Radiology Associates for medica...

We have had to use Radiology Associates for medical purposes for several years. Apparently they have a contract with our primary medical providers. For the past five years, we've not been able to get them to correct our billing address. Their records have us in Macon, while we live in Fort Valley. We have repeatedly given the correct address on the phone, by e-mail, and in written correspondence. Nevertheless, we usually get first notice that we have a bill with their office only when a we get notice of a past-due bill from a collection agency. We do not get bills from Radiology Associates. We do not know what we've been charged for or what insurance has paid. When we refinanced our home loan in 2013, our credit score had been affected by this company. It was an infuriating process to get the score corrected, and only the threat of legal action restored our credit rating. If it happened once, or even twice, I'd let it go. But this has happened repeatedly, and no promise to enter our correct address into the system is ever fulfilled. We will ask our doctors to use another service for radiology reports from now on. If this company is as incompetent as its accounting practices, we don't trust their ability to read medical tests, either.

Evidently I do not have a choice as to where my x-rays, etc. are sent to be read?! This comapny is terrible. I have never gotten a bill, but yet 3 claims from 2012 and 5 claims from 2014 were sent to a collection agency!!!! I have been on the phone with my insurance numerous times, and they claim that have NEVER even gotten a claim from Radiology Associates??? Crazy!! I don't know what to do!?!?

I get a call from their billing department IN INDI...

I get a call from their billing department IN INDIANA (Zotech) informing me that, my insurance TRICARE denied payment for the service. I call my specialist to find out what was going on. The specialist s billing manager informed me that radiology is a separate bill. (I understand that). Her EXACT words is that their billing department is quick to refer to a collections agent and that they run into this EXACT PROBLEM all the time with patients and Radiology of Macon. Her EXACT words is tell them, that if they literally pick up a phone and call Tricare themselves then they will get their money and be paid just like we did. But I get it, I wish I could have harassed and threatened customers to have THEM DO THE JOB I WAS BEING PAID MY PAYCHECK TO HANDLE! I literally called Tricare East MYSELF, got a rep on the phone, then did a 3 way with Zotech (Tricare state s claim was never submitted) and stood silently while the problem was worked out and submitted for the 1st/2nd time. AKA What is YOUR COMPANY S RESPONSIBILITY and NOT MINE, as I simply supplied an actual VERBAL Conversation between YOUR company and Tricare East!

There is no face to this company, so when there are billing problems, and there will be, good luck!! Unfortunately I don t think anyone chooses this group.. it must be loosely associated with the Medical Center??? Anyway, if We could give a zero we would!! Worked with their billing agency for 6 months and they still have not contacted my insurance company!!! But they do know how to contact me!! I have great insurance...but even great insurance does not work if you have an inept billing agency!!! Stay away if you can!!

I had an abdominal ultrasound with Vineville Internal Medicine. The NPs there are very good. However, the pictures were read by Radiology Associates of Macon. I got a bill, as expected, from this radiologist's office. I sent a check for 1/2 of the bill and included a note to send an invoice for the remainder. A month went by and I got a phone call from an automated machine. The first prompt was, "If you are an attorney, press 1." Then, I had the option to pay my bill. Very unprofessional. Avoid this group if you can.

Ask Dr. Vaughn to send you elsewhere if you need work of this nature.

I have received a call stating that I owe for a service that I never received a bill for. I have no idea when or for what services they are speaking of. When I attempted to go on line to view this so called balance due, it asked me for my account # which I don't know because they never sent me a bill!! This is outrageous! I will be on the phone in the a.m.

We had a 2 pm appointment for my granddaughter. We arrived at 1:40 we were asked to arrive 15 minutes before appointment. The receptionist was asleep at the sign in window. We had to wake her up. Talk about unprofessional. We were finally called at 2:40.

By far this is the worst center that I have ever dealt with. First of all, my insurance covers a yearly mammogram that only requires me to pay a copay. So, I'm not understanding why I owe these people. Very disgusted.....

After several mammograms paid in full for a diagnosed breast cancer, I had one a year later again at Coliseum Hospital in Macon. The hospital used the wrong insurance coding, confusing everyone. I worked with ins, Medicare, and hospital to get it straight. Every company involved cooperated except Radiologists of Macon, who began with weekly phone messages demanding payment. I called twice and was told in error that it was paid and I thought ins paid them. I guess I'll never figure out why I wasn't covered completely. Nevertheless I paid about 10 weeks later to get them off my back. During the 7 days it took to post my payment, I got a collection letterfor $20. I called the collection agency who told me it was paid in full. I will never use them again! PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM.

***As a follow up to my previous review, I received a total reimbursement, for what I paid, on January 12, 2017. I was contacted a week after my October review by the Macon office and asked if I would consider changing my review when I was reimbursed. I was also given the caller's name and extention for further contact. That is what I'm doing now. It is obvious reading all of the reviews that the problem lies with their outsourced billing company. Unfortunately, that company is sullying MRA's reputation. I'm due for another mammogram in May; hopefully the billing results will be handled without headaches for all involved.

Garbage! Never got a bill but was harassed by phone demanding payment. I eventually paid it because I figured maybe they were subletted out from a provider I actually went to and now I'm getting harassed by collections.

My insurance company had paid the claim but this office continually billed me even to the point to turning it over to a collection agency. The billing company staff was rude and suggested that I fax documents to them. Sandra also suggested it would be 3-4 days before anyone would even look at the FAX. It scares me to think a patient could EASILY just pay the FINAL NOTICE bill without investigating the bill. By reading previous post, it appears this has happened to other patients. BEWARE!!!

Radiology Associates of Macon has been a thorn in my side for over a year. Over a year ago, I went to the Coliseum ER, where they did scans of my abdomen. I have no health insurance, and no income, so I applied to the Coliseum's Financial Assistance program. I mailed in the required documents, and the Coliseum applied a full charity discount to the hospital's $5,000 bill. It was no problem. Cut and dry.

But then, I still had to deal with the radiology portion of my bill. Once again, I sent in the required documents, but Radiology Associates of Macon said they never received them. So I sent them in again, and once again, they said they never received them. So I had to SAVE UP so that I could go to the post office and spend $20 mailing off the documents a THIRD time via certified mail.

By this time, a bill collector had started calling me incessantly. A few days after sending everything via certified mail, the bill collector called again to say that he'd received some of the documents. Then he tells me that the Coliseum's Financial Assistance program does not cover the radiology portion. I said I would look into it.

So I called Radiology Associates of Macon yet again, explained everything, and seemed to get my story across. That was about a month ago. I just called, and they are still working on my case.

This has been going on for OVER A YEAR. I do not understand why I have to run all over town and spend money I don't have just to accommodate for their ineptitude. I do not have the resources to keep doing this. I do not have printers, scanners, fax machines, a car and gas money, stamps and envelopes. I am using envelopes from bills they keep sending me, and I keep having to ask friends to drive me places to print this stuff out and get it mailed off. This has been an absolute never-ending nightmare. How does it take a place of business THREE ATTEMPTS to get the documents I send them!?

The Coliseum got this taken care of in a matter of weeks. Yet, here I am, over a year later, still fighting with the radiology portion of my bill. There is no excuse for this. I have done my due diligence. This should have been over and done a long time ago.

If you can avoid this place at all, please do so. That is, unless you want to spend over a year of your life in an endless cycle of futility and dodging calls from bill collectors. How does a place like this even stay in business?? Get it together, Radiology Associates of Macon!!

WORST BILLING SERVICE EVER. They mailed us one bill, which we paid using their online service. Then we receive a collection letter from a third party service for additional charges we had never received. They had no record of our payment, could not provide itemized statements. Did not have access to the online payment we had made. Spent countless hours trying to deal with this idiotic collection service only to find out we owed them nothing. If they can't handle their accounting, don't let them handle your body.

Worse company ever to deal with ! My husband is a Jr ... we were paying my father in laws bills ... thought it was straightened out in September after being on phone with them for over an hour . Got a call from a collections agency today . Asking for more money . Called this company no answer was sent to their billing dept to be told that they two accounts with them in which they are billing me , collections agency billing me , and radiology associates is billing me . ALL FOR THE SAME BILL! not to mention in September was told my husband had a zero balance on all accounts with them!
