A brilliant art institute that constantly has brilliant exhibitions on throughout the year. Lovely building, and a nice-ish coffeeshop.

Very interesting place. Visited this for the first time for the Giorgione exhibition. Sat and enjoyed a coffee in the courtyard whilst watching the commissioning of a new robotic artwork.
The summer (winter) exhibition did not disappoint. Well worth a visit,: especially in the current climate. Your heart will soar (seriously)!
One of the greatest art institutions in London, with a wide range of exhibitions changing throughout the year. In the summer there is also an exhibition where a mixture of young and famous artists can showcase and sell their art. It is advisable to book any exhibition in advance.
Great place to spend some time looking at what amazing humans can do.
Excellent exhibition especially the miniatures and good value and friendly staff
Exhibitions always impressive, with a variety of works from collections across the world, including the Queen's Collection for the recent (and excellent) Charles I exhibition. Student tickets available.
Great exhibition, I am sure, if one can see past the crowds. We had the misfortune to book the date and time the Queen was there and, although we had previous warning of an event and that we might be delayed, I do wonder if the number of visitors was reduced to allow for this. We postponed our visit to the afternoon, and it was far too crowded to take in the pictures properly, and we were disappointed. Our 2-day stay in London was planned round visiting this exhibition and we could not change our plans at short notice.
Really nice building and main cafe has reasonable prices for such a nice setting. Art was ok too!
I am never disappointed with the quality of the exhibitions at the RA. Not only is it a gorgeous historic building, but they always put on a great show. I was blown away by the David Hockney exhibition and the recent Sensing Spaces. Definitely book in advance as the queues can be a little crazy.
An excellent Gallery with a nice selcetion of peices, a great day out for anyone interested in art.
Busy, bustling, full of life. Great exhibitions at reasonable rates. I go a few times a year
I hv read abt it,i is quite impssible fr me to journey at the place, but heard in English Literature
Elegant looking cafe but I didn't eat there. Good customer service and the building was very grand.
A great museum in the very center of London. Very knowledgeable guides.
For the website ...
Get a grip - the RA website is, at best, mediocre. You represent Art and artists - it should be a beacon of excellence.
The virtual video of the Gauguin & Impressions Exhibition is dire. If you can't do any better then please just show the paintings full on not off to the side and out of focus!
Sorry!
Amazing Picasso & paper exhibitions, it s open on a revised schedule!
Tickets far too pricey! Plenty of other attractions to see in London that don t cost the Earth.
Schedule and Klimt drawings was not brilliant. Nothing wrong with the drawings. Fat too many people allowed in at one time, very badly lit and didn't work very well
Great museum. I like how you can buy some of the stuff of the walls. Never did though as it is crazy expensive :)
Amazing venue with very special exhibitions. It's amazing how much work goes into preparing some of the rooms for exhibitions. I recently saw Anthony Gormley's exhibition and one of the room they spent 1.5 years preparing to hold a 17 ton steel apple from the dome.
Very pleasant cafe. Phyllida Barlow exhibition is quite, quite terrible, but lots else to see, including an excellent copy of the Last Supper.
Been many times and I've enjoyed some of the exhibitions and the members room is cool too.
Fantastic Hockney exhibition, very intense and vibrant colours. Sadly the visit was over too soon. One of three places outside Italy to see a Michael Angelo sculpture.
One of the best galleries in London. Year by year they consistently have great exhibitions. Busy but you get plenty of room to move around - no pokey gallery spaces here!
The best summer exhibition I've ever visited. Glad I spent the time to go
I booked tickets in advance to see Bill Viola and Michalengelo's: 'Life Death Rebirth' exhibition.
Absolutely astonishing videos by Viola were partnered with Michalengelos drawings which were on loan from HRH.
Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele's drawings and works were also being displayed on the floor above.
Beautiful gallery. Interesting and always new exhibitions! I recommend buying a member card for those who often come to London
I have never enjoyed a day more than on my first visit to Royal Academy in June. I ncredible works of art and a real insight to the Summer Exhibition. I am sure Joshua Reynolds would have a smile on his face of he could see how it has developed over the year. I may even considr becoing a Friend of the RA.
Came several time for the summer exhibition and other events. Very convenient location, well curated art works. It's not as large as the national museum so naturally it gets busy sometimes. Overall is good and the gift shop has some interesting items.
WOW... It was amazing! One of the best art museums in the world.
Great exposure! Colors in your eyes! Magnificent painting and possibility to buy! A dream place if you love art and observing!
Best exhibit of famous artist in London. A place not to miss there for art lovers.
Love this place. So many different exhibitions. Easy to navigate around. Highly recommend if you are in Piccadilly area.
I had the misfortune of buying a cup of coffee and a slice of walnut cake in the RA Poster Bar on Thursday. The coffee was satisfactory, but the cake had definitely seen better days. It was stale and hard, a bit like sawdust set in a cement matrix and embedded with walnuts, reminiscent of one of the works of Phyllida Barlow RA. I understand that it was both vegan and gluten free. I should at least be thankful that they shelled the walnuts before putting them in the cake. A complaint was met with sympathy, but no refund.
Went to the British sculpture exhibition. Really disappointed. Only a few good items. Could have been a lot better. I don't recommend.
I went there for the Lumiere London. Great show, great atmosphere. Historical building that it is even beautiful to observe from the outside.
Lots of history is hidden in this place. All you have to do is go there and reveal it. Wonderful exhibits and really nice atmosphere. You feel like you are travelling back in time. Absolutely must a visit.
Museums are not on a typical tourist "must see" list but London has so many Gems. Go stroll ard the RCA grounds even if you haven't got time for the exhibitions. Was here for Ai Wei Wei and it was beautifully done
Beautiful and interesting displays. Impressive halls. Also for children 9 years and older
Financially independent of Gouvernment grants, the RAA provides a school for artist, superb exhibitions (buy the membership) and stunning public spaces to enjoy! In 2018 a lecture theatre will open and Burlington House integrated, providing more space.
So far, almost everything is finished. But there will be more to see.
Summer exhibition 2019 was quite disappointing. Some excellent work, but many mediocre works.
Went to visit the Monet "Garden" exhibition which was well organised and curated.
I wish I could say the same about the catering. The coffee shop on the ground floor to the left seemed disorganised mid afternoon and when we asked when they closed were told 4:30. Speaking later to the catering manager he said it was 5:30. Confusion.
A fine institution where Art is made taught and exhibited.
Went to see the Antony Gormley and Lucien Freud exhibitions. Mega mega mega!!!
Amazing place. The exhibition of Oceania was superlative. And the architecture of the building is very nice. I think that this Academy regularly displays wonderful exhibitions, so don't miss them. Oceania Exhibition helped me to understand the vastity and the power of that continent composed by innumerable Islands
The Royal Academy of Art is a place you should visit when you come to London. Tomorrow 16 of September 2019 the RA will open the monumental show of the outstanding artist Antony Gormley. Don t miss it
Brilliant art gallery in central London. Only problem was it was too busy to appreciate the Ai Wei Wei exhibition fully
Summer Exhibition, beautiful to get lost among paintings, videos, installations a stone's throw from Piccadilly circus
Nice gallery in lovely Burlington House. Lots of rooms with tonnes to see - loads of places to eat nearby and good transport links. Had a great couple of hours looking at the Soviet exhibition. I would always plan to be there for two hours if I were you.
The Antony Gormley is great. Well worth the trip to London.
Good exhibition... Antony Goodwin ... well worth a visit early one morning or late one evening
It took my breath away. Well worth a visit, so much to learn. Fantastic.
One of the best exhibition of Antony Gormley.
The exhibition was presented in the Royal Academy, London, 21 September-3 December 2019.
Following in the footsteps of Ai Weiwei and Kiefer, Antony Gormley occupies the main galleries with a series of works that test the dimensions and light of RA's architecture.
The exhibition explores the vast use that Gormley makes of organic, industrial and elemental materials over the years, including iron, steel, hand-beaten lead, seawater, and clay, to then highlight the first rarely seen works of the years the 70s and 80s, some of which led the artist to use his body as a tool to create art, as well as a selection of his notebooks and drawings.
Interesting exhibition about a contemporary artist, Antony Gormley. A visionary artist who uses his own body for the casts of his works. They say that you study the relationship between body, soul and surrounding space. It lasts until 3 December 2019.
Fantastic building from the 17th century. hidden in an expensive shopping street.
Simply one of the best art museums in the world. Made even better after this year's refurbishment works.
Edit: went to a Renzo Piano lecture today and the lecture theatre was stunning.
No great proberly half the amount and more expensive
You can see the students work here.
There is a nice cafe in the courtyard, but the prices are shockingly high for what you get.
Beautiful building with its own piazza, came here to see America after the fall a fine exhibition with post 1930's classics including American Gothic and a night at the movies by Ed Hopper glad I got to see these in person
Great art in a great setting. The shows are fabulous. The current show is well curated. The Schjerfbeck exhibition is well worth a visit. Also visit the other galleries. Plan on at least two hours.
