Gorgeous building, which is worth a turn around the courtyard alone (there's usually an interesting sculpture there) with decent exhibitions. Some I've loved (last year's informative, beautiful take on Russian architecture); some I haven't had the heart to queue for (three hours to get into Hockney). Worth checking out what's on if you're in the area.

We went to the Picasso show today. Although his art is interesting and technically brilliant, it is not to my liking, I do not find it beautiful. I've been on Rodin's show here before, which was wonderful!

Let me tell you this!! It is so HARD to find good old fashioned service anywhere. The staff here was so accommodating, super friendly and did such an EXCELLENT job. The guy knew exactly which frame to pick for my piece of art. I was so happy with the results. Total museum quality but with a friendly family neighborhood price. I heard from many artists that this was THEE PLACE TO GO!! Medhat and Johnny rule!!

The Royal Academy of Art was founded in 1768 by George III of England at the request of some painters, sculptors and architects. Its purpose is the cultivation of Fine Arts, a school of drawing, sculpture, painting, architecture and the holding of an annual exhibition that takes place in the summer.

A private museum, which goes into it costs money. I went into Dali and Dushamp's show. Dali, one of the most amazing artists in my eyes. There were some of his works, some particularly impressive. But a small exhibition, a little disappointing in that respect.

Do you know about the Ai Weiwei exhibition? It's a must must must visit. If there's only one last show you see for 2015, make it this one. Magnificent social commentary and critique on the happenings of politics, economics and culture. Do yourself a favour and sign up for the 45 minute curated tour too. Amazing!

Oh boy how great it was to be back in this wonderful place. The best summer exhibition I have ever experienced. I brought 3 teenage boys along and they loved it too - quite an accolade I feel! To see the renovation at the rear is is exciting having heard it being talked about for so long. All in all a great day.

Like most museums and art galleries in London the RA has a fixed collection which is free to visit - though donations are requested - and usually 2 special exhibitions for which you have to buy entrance tickets. The building itself is beautiful and set in a lovely courtyard just off Piccadilly. The gallery benefits from a cleverly integrated modern extension providing needed additional exhibition space. As at December 2019 the main special exhibition is self portraits by Lucien Freud - which I d thoroughly recommend.

Simply a world class art museum. Their exhibitions are consistently inspiring. Love coming here late on Friday nights, and their Summer exhibition selling affordable art is one of the great events of the year in London.
