Beautiful exhibition on Gauguin. Paintings belonging to private collections. Exposure exceeded my expectations. Not to be missed. The exhibits of the other Impressionists are very interesting.

Our first visit to see "Picasso and Paper" after the lockdown has been eased.
The precautions that the Royal Academy have put in place for "social distancing" are excellent and so thorough.
The staff are extremely courteous and have been very well trained to help visitors and guide them through the new one way systems in place, and I cannot think of a safer public place to visit! Plenty of sanitiser in place and the signage is very clear and precise, they are so well organised excellent work has been done here.
The exhibition was totally fascinating and to see the varying stages of Picasso's work was very well presented and curated.
So if you have any doubts or worries about visiting the Royal Academy please do not. Your health and safety is their prime concern for you to get in and start re-engaging in to some form of "normality" and to go see the art we love and enjoy so much.
Well done RAA you have done a fantastic job with your re-opening scheme!
UPDATE:
Just been to see the latest exhibition"Gauguin and the Impressionists" and what a superb exhibition!
The RAA staff are totally brilliant and are so well trained in their procedures.
Saw members of staff very carefully disinfecting handrails and other places people touch so their sanitisation efforts are really good. So this is a really really safe environment to go see some art and culture in as safe an environment as is possible under the circumstances.
Great exhibition and I have to highlight the outstanding efforts by the RAA management and staff in looking after us whilst we are in the RAA building so please go along you will be in safe hands and there is much to enjoy!

This is the second time I have been to the summer exhibition and the lates event. This year, it was a circus theme. It was fun to see quite a few attendees wear fancy dress in keeping with the circus motif.

The art itself was great, but the event, which offered many things to see and do, made it even better: the glitter make-up stand, the arts and crafts table, the circus training booth, the screen printing stand, the alcoholic candy floss, and more....

Tip: The first red phone box in the UK is near the entrance. It is the original prototype, made of wood and was the template for all later red telephone box designs.

The annual Summer Exhibition never fails to disappoint.

There is always an astounding variety of paintings, sculptures and architectural models, with space shared between famous artists and members of the public alike. Each curator brings something different and new.

Some pieces you love, some you hate and some are just beyond comprehension. All combine to form an experience which is best shared. You re bound to disagree on many, if not most, but this is all part of the enjoyment.

So whilst I know very little about art, I very much enjoy visiting this great and unique exhibition each year.

I'm a regular visitor here. I went for the Oceania exhibition and the friends view for the Klimt/Schiele drawings. The Oceania exhibition was amazing we only managed to get through 3/4 of it before it closed for the day but we will be back to see the rest. The Klimt/Schiele drawings were much better than I had expected and is well worth a visit. It was particularly nice to be there on a friends evening because it was much less crowded.

The exhibition was good but the ticket staff was very arrogant and very rude to partner members, just because I can go to the exhibition for free they refused to give the exhibition guide pamphlet as others can have for free. But I paid my membership fee as I am a frequent art exhibition goer. Don't understand why they are so mean for giving the information leaflets. Isn't the exhibition just for the privileged of high-class group and fearing their resources will be known by more people???

This was a mixed bag. There is some good stuff and the food in the cafe was excellent. However I came away incensed. They had a statue of Wren, but the guide didn't even know who Hooke was!
I can understand him not getting his recognition in his day: He worked for Wren. He worked for Harvey. He worked for Boyle and he did not have Newton's connections, but surely he deserves a retrospective more than Da Vinci? Is snobbery still a bit too much in evidence here?

Contemporary Art Gallery in London. Unlike the other London museums, most of which are quite grandiose, tired and can be lost in the moment unless you come especially for any exhibition, the gallery offers interesting contemporary art, updated and spectacular.
The museum itself is beautiful and fun to wander through, and there are dozens of exhibitions mainly in the summer. In August 2018, I went to the summer exhibition, which included oil paintings by important people from the United Kingdom. In addition there are also spaces for sculptures.

It should be a privately run gallery/museum, which is almost 250 years old (250 years in 2018). The building looks good.
One of the exhibitions, 10 pounds; the whole hall (containing at least two special exhibitions), it seems to be 16 (or17) pounds.
However, because there are souvenirs (postcards, etc.), you can see them. There is a disappointment Actually one or two as a travel/life commemoration, it makes sense!

There are two buildings - Burlington House and Burlington Gardens. I went for a guided tour of both and it was a wonderful experience! We also visited some of the rooms that are not usually open for public. I would definitely recommend it.

One of my favourite places in the world... Just seen Gauguin and the Impressionists show.
Interesting exhibition to see perhaps because of the paintings that aren't so often on show as the more iconic images.
(My favourite was by Sisley.)
Staff were friendly, and very helpful.
You must have a visit there.

Went to the Picasso exhibition today. Though his art is interesting and technically brilliant, its not to my liking, I don't find it beautiful. Ive been to the Rodin exhibition here before, which was wonderful! Generally, the Royal academy is superb! Ive posted some of Picasso's art, that I found agreeable.

Went to see Jasper Johns. Very well presented and excellence in all departments, as always. The RA is the gold standard.
Re this exhibition - I would have liked audio commentary on more of the works, and maybe some wider range of criticisms that included the sceptical side.

The exhibitions I've attended have been very well managed and sympathetic to the artist. It's never been too crowded with plenty of opportunities to take pictures. Audio commentary is included with admission.

Great building, fascinating exhibitions however staff are very obnoxious and rude. Went to see Anthony Gormley s exhibition and never felt so intimidated and intruded in any other gallery or art exhibition by staff policing and telling off visitors at every opportunity given.

One of the grandest art institutes in London. There is always an impressive exhibition going on. The exhibitions are well curated, informative, and have the best pieces in the world to see. Becoming a friend of the RA gives you free entrance which is worth it if you are interested in arts.

Bill Viola is a revelation. I saw this show a few months ago. Video art has changed and improved immensely from the 80's. It was fascinating to see how his art practice had grown with the improvement of video equipment. The opening piece is mesmerising.

Nice museum right in the center of London that always sets up interesting monster.
I went to see Bill Viola and Michelangelo "Life Death abd Rebirth". Di Viola presents 12 video installations, which retrace his creative parable, from 1977 to 2013, while there are 14 drawings in the exhibition of Michelangelo to which is added a precious bas-relief, the Tondo Taddei, guarded by the Royal Academy.

The juxtaposition between the works of Viola and Michelangelo does not happen so much for the affinity of the subjects, but for the sensations that they are able to evoke.
The only criticism I would like to make the preparation is the lack of seats to enjoy the best videos of the artist, some not short

There was a new exhibition by Young Artists 2020 at the Royal Academy. We didn't know what to expect on our virtual tour around the exhibition. But its quite extraordinary to think that these young people have such vision and are able to apply their nurtured skill to a peice of art worthy of the Royal Academy. The future looks bright for these youngsters, so remember where you saw them first. (There are some photos of the winning artwork attached to this review.

I always enjoy visiting the Royal Academy of Arts; a great historical institution. There are always intriguing exhibitions from various classical and contemporary artists. The cafe is also excellent and is a great place to have a meal or a cup of tea. Artwork by graduates is also frequently exhibited and, ever since the recent refurbishments, older works associated with the academy, such as statues used in sketches, are also exhibited. Overall, the RA is a fantastic location and a place that anyone interested in art must visit.
