If you talk about the culinary top in Flanders (and we mean Flanders in the broadest sense), you cannot possibly ignore Sergio, Herman, originally a Zeelandic Fleming. In the past with Oud Sluis, now with The Jane in Antwerp and Pure C in Cadzand, among others.
The Jane provoked a double feeling with me - years ago. On the one hand I remember a heavenly experience (at least I hope to be spoiled in heaven anyway), but from ten o'clock on it was also something of purgatory (when the sound volume of "music" was set to ten).
Unfortunately, this created enough resistance to remove Sergio from our list of favorites.
We have maintained this embargo for five years. Although the Pure C was already on our list, it took a while before our attempt to make a reservation was successful. A popular destination. And that is absolutely right, but finding a free table was no easy task. See you on Easter Day.
Just like The Jane, Pure C is a big business without becoming impersonal. Because we experience a friendly, capable and international service. Pure C is absolutely comparable in quality to The Jane, but fortunately without that sound barrier. Unlimited enjoyment.
The C plays a central role in the kitchen. That starts with the snacks with the processing of Zeeland herbs from their own dunes, all kinds of (forgotten) in combination with (forgotten) shells. Then a salad with an intensive finish at your table. This is followed by five dishes tied to the sea. From scallops to oysters in combination with delicious Oosterschelde eel, nasi goreng with Zeeland shells, Oosterschelde lobster to monkfish with shrimps. The main course is a delicious portion of lamb. Round off with a dessert based on rhubarb and white chocolate and a whole host of mignardises.
I don't think we'll wait another five years to enjoy this.
