The place is always busy at just about anytime. Oversized grilled cheese sandwich variety at reasonable prices. Great late night food spot!

Food is sub par. They have a boatload of staff but they will all ignore you. Fried pickles are burnt. I have never had a particularly good experience here.

Got the jalepeno popper grilled cheese w/tater tots. The best thing was the tater tots. I felt like the jalepeno popper wasnt as spicy as I wouldve expected. It actually had no taste honestly. I wouldn't recommend it. Its not the best grilled cheese in the world. Its ok food for when youre drunk.

Feels like a Chicago staple at this point. Food was incredible, staff was super sweet. I wasnt used to the restaurant build but I figured it out pretty quick. Bar style which is interesting. Generally happy overall

Spencer could care less about calling back or making things right when a mistake is made. I just hope they treat people a little better in the future. I paid 70 bucks for 2 soups and grilled cheese they messed up the order terribly so I called and they did nothing to make things right.

Excellent staff. Good amount of grilled cheese options. A must visit if visiting Chicago and in the neighborhood. The beer in this pic gave me the hangover from hell.

I... have eaten at Cheesie s more (drunkenly AND sober) than I would like to admit. The menu is creative and reasonably priced, the food is SO GOOD and the ambiance is fun. This review is for the Cheesiest Pub andGrub Food Truck at E Lake and Stetson - behind the Prudential Building... I swung by today looking for lunch and saw this truck. It by far was the busiest of the 3 in the area serving speciality grill Cheese sandwiches. Don t let the simple menu fool you. The sandwiches are great! Pricing is in the ballpark of a food truck meal. The line was a little long, but it did move at a good pace. The tater tots are great too. I didn t get the cheese but I bet that makes them really good . The sandwich alone was enough for lunch and with the tots it will hold you till dinner for sure . The guys were friendly and efficient and called out the names well. I had the Tenderizer that is in the photos Looks like they have a sandwich for most tastes if you look at the menu. If you like grill cheese - and speciality sandwiches this is your stop! I will return!

I really liked the Mac grilled cheese and their sin cider was also really great. The server was nice and had a cool pokemon hat.

This place has great food. Prices are not bad at all especially for the lunch special. Sometimes can get very crowded and it's hard to find a place to site down. Depends on time of day or is there is a Cubs game.

The atmosphere is amazing! Like walking back into my past! My wife & I ordered a 1/2 cheese 1/2 sausage & and order of mozzarella sticks. They were amazing. Full of flavor. You will not be disappointed. Great prices and an even more amazing staff! Met the manager during my visit. Amazing dude! Very professional and polite. Will be back!

Loved it. Slow to medium traffic on a Wednesday arnd 2am. You have to finish your drink by 200am on a 300am close. Fine. The Edgar was delicious. Yolanda, my bartender, is great. And everybody else was pretty awesome.

Cheesie s is the best grilled cheese in the city!! All of the sandwiches are delicious and have of a variety of different styles that will please everyone. Popular choices are the Melt, Napoleon, and the Tenderizer. But also make sure you check out the featured sandwich of the month- sometimes they are so popular they get a permanent spot on menu. This place is popular with the late night crowd, but they have amazing specials all throughout the week! MUST do if in the neighborhood!

huge sandwiches -- my favorite was the mac n cheese! nice, crispy fries...pretty good soup. tiny little pub with terrific wait staff. not far from the green El line...it's located right across Blaze Pizza...lots of eclectic stores nearby!

Love Cheesie s! Always ask about their super creative special sandwich of that week/month. I have had a few undercooked sandwiches their but for the past year they have been batting above average.

On a night that wasn't very busy it took me about 10 minutes to get the bartenders attention, I was sitting at the bar too. No stars to take away in this review. I remember coming to this location invited. My drinks were paid for but I was totally wasted after having The Tenderizer and topping it off with several cocktails and shots.
Sarah was our bartender and DAMN IS SHE PRETTY. There was also a dark-skinned fellow with a colorful attire who was super cool. For the life of me I can't remember his name. Of course, not after so much liquor. At the end of two hours and a half of drinking I've already had a great time talking to the bartender, with my friend, the security, and probably management as well. Altogether we paid around 50 dollars for a lot of mid-shelf liquor and couldn't make left of right after paying. Their selection of beer and liquor isn't lacking. Totally the kind of place to safely get plastered.

Late Sunday night dinner at busy fast-food joint. Ordered mac n cheese sandwich, original sandwich, and small soup. Took forever to get the food. At one point food runner offered a free side as an apology, which we appreciated. Got the mac n cheese while still waiting, which was super thick with cheese (wow!). Food came but was missing the soup and had to wait longer for that (why? it's soup?). Tables were dirty. Water dripping from ceiling at different places in room (we moved but it followed us!). Really a place to go after drinking, that's it. Too bad. We had been looking forward to the unique menu and, although food was decent, the experience was poor.

Delicious greasy drunk person food. Still delicious if you re sober, but you re more cognizant of the grease, so it s not as enjoyable.

I love the Mac and cheese grilled cheese. Soooo filling and the perfect sandwich for the cold months or a rough day. Ultimate comfort food. Decent place to have a casual drink too.

1st time and must say food was delish... Fried pickles where Bomb that breading was on point, Mac n cheese bites super creamy and a good size. The samichezzzzz where big and very tasty.. A must try!!

Okay so obviously if you like cheese then this is the place for you. If you just got done with a nice night up and down boystown then stop by here for a late night snack. Good beer selection. Kinda small but I've only gone in at late nights when it's packed. Their Mac and cheese balls are pretty legit so get yourself some if you got a nice buzz going.

I miss cheese. I wish I could have any type of cheese but my body can no longer handle it back when I did used to go though man was it good now.

It started a third of the size that it is now took over one building next to it then took over the bagel Authority and now it is huge I don't know if their food quality went down it wouldn't surprise me if it did

Cheesie s wasn t the best food I ve ever had, but it wasn t bad. I really like all the arcade games and the atmosphere.

Cheesie's is amazing. It's a restaurant that seems to have tapped into nostalgia through it's comfort food menu, it's arcade games, and it's chalkboard tables. It's a grown up, elevated experience of what for many were childhood hallmarks. There is a bar as well. On Mondays they host a Geeks Who Drink trivia quiz if you are into that. Also, it's location is conveniently right off Belmont Red, Brown, and Purple Line stop.

Was out looking for something to eat on a Monday night and came across this restaurant. I ordered The Melt and had the choice of making it into a burger! Delicious! I only gave the restaurant four stars because they didn t provide a lot of chicken so that was kind of upsetting because if I had not made it into a burger meal, I would ve not had a lot of protein, but other then that great sandwich!

Gavin was our bartender and it was great. He got the food perfect and kept the drinks full. Its a fun place anyway, but he made it perfect.

This place is awesome if you want a creative grilled cheese sandwich. I can only imagine it's a decent t place to go after drinking.

My friend took me here as one of his favorite spots in the city. The food is ultimately indulgent, I gobbled down the cheese balls and my sandwich in no time. Highly recommend trying it at least once.

The best comfort food in a very hip setting with a great bar and retro video and arcade games, most of which are free to play. The service is warmly welcoming, attentive, friendly, filled with good cheer.

This was my first time at this location and the restaurant is actually connected to Cheesies (which I'm not that fond of) but I took my chances. As it turns out this place was fantastic! The New York style pizza slice was delicious and I also had chicken tenders that were so crispy and tender. They also have amazing Gelato; I had an Italian vanilla flavor, off the charts delicious!. Thank you guys for impressing my taste buds. I didn't take any pictures because the food was just too good to wait.

Food was excellent, had the Mac. Service was very good at the bar, my server Chris was very accommodating, and my food came very quickly. The beer options weren't bad either. As an out of towner just here to check the city out I was very pleased and will gladly come back during my trip.

Best joint to eat at if you are drunk and it's late. The food is delicious and helps you sober up. Also great to eat at when you are sober too!

Gotta give it to Cheesie's. This place is amazing! No one does grilled cheese in Chicago like this. The selection is amazing, and the product is "To die for." Most sandwiches have associated dipping sauces to change up the taste of your grilled cheese very nicely. The bar is simple, and the people are fun. One section of the restaurant even has pizza and rap music, the other more layed back with classic 80's in the background. Both sides have classic video games to play. Whatever your style, you will have a great time.

Great food, looked like it was under construction. Update: it was under construction. I live in AZ, and I try and get in there when I'm in Chicago. I changed from four stars to five stars because the owner responded to my rating, and all I did was update a spelling error. It just tells me that the owner cares about the customer....which is awesome.

Delightful place to eat. Our bartender Ambrose went above and beyond to help us and fulfill special requests. The food was delicious and the drinks perfect.

Went there late at night with one of my friends. For being so crowded, we got our food extremely fast! Everything was fantastic! Would definitely go again.

Great late night weekend food and drinks for a reasonable price. The cheese curds and grilled cheese sandwiches are delicious. Finding a seat can be challenging on a Friday or Saturday night though.

Busy... Drunk... late night. Not sure who goes here if they aren't intoxicated, but more often than not the patrons are hammered looking for a greasy meal... and Cheesie's delivers (not literally)!

You'll find yourself in a cafeteria line with a few other zombies, so choose your food quickly. Remember everything is bought individual, no real 'combos' so get what you want while you in line.

After you get your meal, you'll need to find an open seat - good luck... there aren't too many for you to choose from, but their 'family style' dining helps to find a corner to chow-down on.

Enjoy it... then get out of there! No reason to linger ;)

The best grilled cheese you will find. There are many different varieties. The place definitely is a product of its neighborhood, but that's part of what makes it great to visit!

As a grilled cheese LOVER I was so excited to finally go here. Very disappointed in the service! There was only 3 other tables when we went and it took 40 min to get our food and it was cold!! We were so hungry we just ate it anyways plus didn't want to wait another 40 min! The food didn't taste bad but a warm grilled cheese taste better then a cold and the mac and cheese on it was cold also. We'll be back to try again sometime and hopefully won't be as disappointed. Hopefully get a different server also! Made me want to apply for a job after serving 13 years lol

Service staff absolutely incompetent, pathetic. Wait 40 minutes for a sandwich. They were not busy At All, just slow and incompetent. Left disgusted. Staff should be REPLACED. NEVER GO BACK. IF I COULD SUBTRACT STARS I WOULD.

So good! If you're looking for a unique bite or jonesing for a grilled cheese this is the spot! Don't hold back either, it's all good here. I've probably tried half the menu over the years and have yet to be disappointed. Full bar and a soda fountain for beverages. They have now bought the spot next door and connected them, the new place is a pizza shop that I haven't visited yet.

Cheesie's is genuinely the best place for getting food after a night out. It's a wonderful greasy spoon. I'm a big fan of their mac and cheese and their chicken nuggets. I have mixed feelings on their grilled cheese sandwich. Sometimes it's very good; the last time wasn't that great. It can get super crowded at times (which is to be expected due to the location I think) but it's a very sizeable location with lots of different seating options. Also, the arcade games are just fun!

The food was absolutely fantastic, and I loved the ambiance. The art on the walls is awesome, plays on classic art with the subjects eating pizza or grilled cheese. Staff was super friendly. Would definitely come back.

Got a Mac sandwich yesterday and spent the entire night vomiting pure stomach bile. Apparently they failed a health inspection 3 times which would explain the food poisoning.

But Don't drink the candy corn martini is too Damn sweet. It felt like melted Carmel in a nice cup.

And the homeless guy inside the restaurant need to be taking care of by managers.
I would offer him food and some money and ask him to leave nicely.
He stood behind us for like 5 minutes didn't understand what he was saying nobody say anything to him and he was there all the time we were there.

I had come here after a long night and had ordered some pizza, which was good but I thought the service of one employee somewhat rude. When i had approached the register for my order i had asked for 2 slices of pizza and water, to which the employee at the register asked my preference to whether i wanted bottled or fountain. I had said fountain to which the employee had provided no further instruction and to just expect my order to be brought to me when my number was called. When my order had arrived, i had asked about the water I had ordered, which had not come, to which the waitress essentially said they do not give you water if its not bottled in a very abrupt manner to which I was basically not allowed to reply. I found this service somewhat rude to which i let known the bartender working at the moment. I understand if i have to get my own wate, but please let me know from the beginning of the order and do not talk down to me like a child when I infer about this later. I simply just think some communication effort has to begiven to customers and between staff rather than talking down to them.

Had a mac and cheese pizza after a long night and it was so life-changing I would have paid $4,000 for it. My biggest regret is not ordering like 200 of them.

Imagine a dive bar with bright colors and top notch food. That's Cheesie's for you. They also provide chalk to draw on the tables, so that's pretty neat.
