I was looking for an apartment with my friend and we came across some ads on Zillow posted by Taryn with Proper Realty Group. We called her up (and answered after only a couple rings) and she took us on a showing the next day and we saw some great places. We ended up getting the first one we saw. Application and approval was extremely fast and much easier then my previous college housing fiasco.

I was having a nightmare of a time finding an apartment in Boston, having just moved here from the west coast and not knowing the area at all. The agent i met at proper sent me a number of video tours of apartments while i was still bouncing back and forth between coasts, making it much easier to decide which places i needed to see in person, as my trips to Boston were limited and i was always on a huge time crunch. I ended up finding a great place in Brookline.

Very professional, personable company. I've tended to stray away from bigger corporations in all my business dealings(banking, insurance, real estate, etc.,) and have so far been delighted. My experience with Proper group was no different. I sold my condo in Boston through them and felt as though they truly did value my business.

I was recently looking for an apartment in the Allston/Brighton section of Boston and I came across a Zillow ad posted by Jordan of Proper Realty. He showed me the apartment in the ad, as well as, a few others. He was a pleasure to work with, he was prompt, professional and explained the entire process thoroughly. He was a pleasure to get to know and learn from.

WORST experience of my life. This company barely knows how to function as a company. They are late, inconsiderate and have no care about the customers. They don't answer the phone when you call and their voicemail is always full. On every level of the hierarchy they are insufficient. Their emails are essentially demands and they will be practically incomprehensible. Their renters are illiterate and next to impossible to reach. They also expect you to be able to read their minds to know when and where payments should be made. All they want is their Brokers fee, which is ridiculously expensive. They don't value you or your time so don't give them your money. You are better off throwing it out a window or setting it on fire. Chances are you will see better apartment results than the "service" they provide. Proper Realty is a lame excuse for a company.

Disappointing Update: Proper Realty eventually ref...

Disappointing Update: Proper Realty eventually refunded only 10% of our $2575 fee back in December (I thought it would be fair for them to refund 50% of it). I have texts from the manager where he later agrees that this is not enough, and says he will do more after the first of the year. It is now the end of May and I can't get him to communicate with me. I'd take them to court if it was not such a time intensive process.

Don't do business with Proper Realty. They are not to be trusted. Our agent was awful, and management neglected to follow through on promises to make things right.

1) Our agent no showed us. He told us that we had the wrong day. We had actually confirmed the day with him via text.
2) Our agent told us the wrong address for the apartment.
3) Our agent had the wrong price for parking. This mistake is costing us $25 more per month than expected.
4) Our agent did not mention that it was a 14 month lease until we were about to sign it. He said that it could not be changed.
5) Our agent made arithmetic mistakes on the lease.
6) Our agent kept telling us that he would send us a copy of the signed lease. This happened about 5 times in the span of about a month and a half. We were worried that we would have to fly back to Boston look at places again.
7) Our agent created awkward situations with our landlord after we moved in.

After moving in, I met with management at Proper Realty. They were actually amused at just how bad our experience had been. They complimented me on being calm and patient. I said that maybe refunding half of the fee back would be fair. They said that we would be compensated financially within a week or two since it seemed unfair that we paid a $2575 fee for this experience. This was months ago. They never made things right, and have not returned the emails and phone messages that I have left for them.

I was helping a friend look for an apartment in the area. We worked with an agent at proper named Jordan. He was very helpful. He found my buddy an amazing place and secured it for them. He was in contact with my friend throughout the whole process and made the experience a pleasant one.

We contacted Proper Realty Group to look at an apartment down the street, but they asked us to come to their office first. We got there for an 11:00 appointment, but they told us we had been scheduled for 12:00. We walked out and tried to reschedule for later that day at 3:00, which was confirmed. They agreed to meet us at the apartment this time. We waited out in front of the apartment in the snow for 10 minutes before calling and asking our realtor where he was. He curtly said he was on his way and hung up on us. After half an hour of waiting, we called back. This time he let it go to voicemail. We got fed up and left. 15 minutes later he finally called us and asked to reschedule for the next day. We agreed, even though we were upset about how we'd been treated, simply because we wanted to see the place so badly. He said he would call us the next morning so we could see the place before we were busy at 2:00. He never called, so we called at 11:00. He answered, told us he had to check with the people currently renting the apartment, and would call us back with a showing time. 10 minutes later he texted us back (didn't even give us the courtesy of a phone call) letting us know the place had been rented. Needless to say, we don't recommend anyone employing Proper's services ever again.

I can't say much about Proper Realty as my dealings with the company were with Alex Zhang only. What I can say though is that Alex is great at what he does. When I told him my partner and I were looking for a place he began searching for us right away. He drove us around looking at apartments until we settled on one we both liked. He was there to help us along every step of the way and willing to work with us when finances didn't work out just right. In the end we were both happy with Alex's level of customer service and easy-going attitude. I would definitely work with him again. Thanks Alex!

This is one raunchy operation! Beware.

This is one raunchy operation! Beware.

Ryan Taylor steals ads and uses them to "bate + switch". Jason, the owner is really arrogant + hides as his agents do unscrupulous things.

Any positive reviews here most likely are planted.

The real estate board needs to investigate this whole dirty operation.

Be careful when dealing with Proper Realty Group specifically Cyrus.

After showing up a half hour late to a scheduled showing and then showed us an apartment that was no where near the specifications we had told him. To his credit he did line up showings the following day for apartments that fit our specifications. Although on both occasions he chose to take phone calls while meeting with us which basically showed that we were not a priority to him as clients.

Finally after agreeing to a deal with him and having him confirm both verbally and through email and after our first months rent check was deposited Cyrus informed us via an email at 10 pm that they landlords didn't accept our application. AFTER HE HAD PREVIOUSLY TOLD US THE APARTMENT WAS OURS.

To their credit the Owner, Jason, reached out right away to offer his help and seemed genuine in wanting to do the best for all of his firms prospective buyers or renters. I just wish the realtors under Jason would have the same professionalism and transparency as their boss.

If I could post no stars I would. I am highly disa...

If I could post no stars I would. I am highly disappointed in the services and situation that I have been put in by this realty. I bumped into another realtor during my apartment search and he made me aware of this other apartment (that I am currently living in and moving out of shortly) that was available for immediate move-in. All the details sounded good, i.e. amenities incl., and washer and dryer. I came over and met the landlords and they confirmed all the details and due to my rush in moving in, I confirmed my interest in securing the place as soon as possible. The day I was moving in, after I had come with all my belongings, I was told by the landlord that there is an extra fee to be paid each night when I have visitor over. This was not discussed initially before I moved in even though I mentioned to the landlords the first night that I would host my siblings over the christmas break. I have made it clear to them that if I had the slightest idea about this or if they told me before I moved in, I would have made another decision. I spoke to my realtor about this and he told me that IT WOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM and that he'd handle it and spoken to my landlords.

Fast-forward to 3 weeks later, my landlord approached me about this and when I told them about WHAT THE REALTOR SAID, they said that he did not talk to them about it, and its complete news to them. I have gone back and forth with my realtor and have even asked him to SPEAK TO HIS MANAGER ABOUT THIS POOR SERVICE but he declined and said it wouldn't be a good idea. All these lies and secrets about the hidden fee makes a big difference and now the people involved are acting as though I am the one trying to cheat them.

Due to all of this, I have to move out as soon as possible because the accumulating costs of housing is just ridiculous. I am just frustrated with the realtor especially since he doesnt want me to talk to his manager to straighten this out and ONLY 3 WEEKS ago I paid the broker fee, first month, last month and a security deposit all at a go!!!!!!!!!

I have had a terrible and difficult experience wit...

I have had a terrible and difficult experience with Proper Realty Group. They acted as the middle man with my contract for another realty group called Symphony properties. They had handed me the keys to the apartment as well as did the initial check of the property before i had moved in. Towards the end of my stay I found out that my lease had been forged with terms that were used to withhold my security deposit. Proper Realty group had nothing to do with the forging of the documents nor with the original contract, but when I went to ask them for help on the matter they gave me a hard time and sided with the owner's agent (Rhondo Condo). They were unwilling to help me in any way even though they acted as the middle man throughout the entire process and in fact I had done nothing against my lease. I finally received my security deposit after threatening to bring in a lawyer.
On another note, I have since received a slew of messages from one of their agents (and I expect will receive even more after this message!) showing minimal respect towards my family members and me. I will not come back to do business with these people.

Don't ever use Proper Realty Group - the biggest waste of time we have ever had. Very uncommunicative - gave us very little information to work off of and had us waiting until the last minute for everything - we were also rushed through all of the paper work over getting all of the appropriate information. The realtor we were working with seemed to not know what was going on ever!

Also NEVER rent a place from @Kunevich&Lau Reality (the co-broker for the location we were looking at) as Jarrett Lau wastes your time, makes you jump through a ton of hoops to get anywhere! We met all of the requirements, supplied three co-signers and had all of the money prepared and yet were told we did not meet the income requirements for a general area that is typically considered student housing and the place was only $1,500.00 (he had us waiting for over week before giving us an answer) leaving us closer to having no place to live! I don't think these companies understand they are screwing around with people's livelihoods and are only focused in on themselves. Good luck Jarrett on filling a location that has been on the market for over 100 days!

We were also told by our realtor that he was only 26 years old and still figuring things out so it wasn't his fault for not knowing what the heck was going on...I'm 26 - to me, this wasn't an excuse but a flipping insult.

Here is an example of what they kept on saying to us in order to reel us along and waste our time (this message was sent just before we were suddenly denied):

"I know what I told T****** is worrisome, we are very close to getting approval on this I believe."

Our realtor also said we would only need a co-signer for one of the roommates. Suddenly a week goes by and he lets us know "Oh, I think you need a cosigner for all of you. It is typical for landlords to want a cosigner no matter your credit."

Stats on us:
- We all are in good standing for credit (were told we could get the place purely on credit (this was not the case even though it was kept getting pushed down our throats).
- All three of us together on top of three cosigners could easily afford this place ($500 per person)
- We have shining recommendations/references
- We rarely ever get this upset over something (especially enough to do a review!)

Long story short - this was the worst and most stressful experience ever! Feel free to contact me if you want more information as I have all of the e-mails saved with everything that was said.

If I could give no stars, I would. Similar experience to others on this review board. We were told that we had a place secured, upon returning to the office they informed us that it MAY have already been rented and tried to swindle us into renting another that we had viewed. We left a deposit for the house we wanted and had to wait over 5 days to get a response which finally told us "YEP TURNS OUT IT WAS RENTED, OUR FAULT". The kicker is they cashed our deposit checks without a phone call. Our realtor loves the phrase, "I understand"...your frustration, aggravation, etc. etc. When all the while he continues to send us listings that are not in our budget, totally wrong area, and look terrible. These realtors are looking for their broker fee and that's it! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

What a horrible experience with this company, woul...

What a horrible experience with this company, would give 0 stars if possible. First we signed a lease for a new apartment back in January. We were then told 6 months later in mid June that we actually lost the apartment, it was supposed to never be on the market. Whether or not it was the leasing company that screwed up here it is still unbelievable it took this long to find out, especially since we had been asking our Realtor for some time to go and measure the unit.
To make this situation worse getting our refund back on the first, last, security and Realtor fee paid was extremely difficult. We were given back a majority of the money that week but a portion of the Realtor fee was not handed over, the portion used as the commission for the agent. That agent had now left the company and since they would be on vacation for 2 weeks we could not get the money back til then. After constantly calling various people at the company, including the owner, we were able to get half this amount back. Communication with this company was impossible as no one would return calls when messages were left for them.
To top it off I was told the owner does not deal with customers and I would not be able to speak with him. Only after getting the owners email and emailing him myself was I able to speed up the process of getting the remaining money back. At this point I was told the money would be sent to me immediately. After more then a week of calling and emailing with no response was I finally able to get in touch with the owner. He said the check had been mailed but they would come and drop it off to me. I was finally able to get the check today 7/8 a full week after they had received the money back from the Realtor on 7/1 and 12 days since I was told this last portion would be sent to me. That it took 3+ weeks to get a refund on money I was owed is unbelievable. Even more frustrating is the lack of communication from the company as numerous calls and emails were never returned as they seemed to be avoiding this situation as much as possible.
Avoid this company as much as possible.

Todd Martin was incredibly knowledgeable about the Real Estate market. This made him very efficient and responsive to our questions. He was able to guide us through the process of our recent transaction I would recommend Mr. Martin to anyone who is interested in buying, selling or renting property.

I recently moved to the allston/brighton area from Indiana. So needless to say I was brand new to the big city rental experience. I worked with an agent named Jordan from Proper Realty. He was very easy going and professional. He explained the entire process to me, which was great because I was clueless. He even told me about fun things to do and great places to eat in the area.

Very frustrating experience overall, both with our agent and management. This is not a trustworthy establishment- take your business somewhere else!

Our agent gave us the wrong address, didn't show up to our first appointment, gave us the wrong price for parking, made mistakes on the lease, didn't get us a signed copy of the lease after telling us he would, etc. When we complained, the manager fully agreed this was ridiculous and that we should be refunded a good portion of the substantial agent fee. After this, the manager basically ghosted us, neglecting to follow up and not responding to texts or calls. After MANY follow ups we got 10% of our fee back, and the manager said he would like to do more and would get back to us in the near future. Still waiting on that one, several follow ups later... Between the stress of renting our place and the follow up with management afterward, it has been a truly horrible experience.

I paid 1700.00 brokers fee to get the apartment I lived in. The broker Coleen K. showed me an unit that belonged to an old friend of hers Karen P. and said it was still not listed and that she was a great landlord.
Karen P. and her sister Pam P. were very far from that. Not only they entered my unit more than once, giving me no privacy, but they also led me on believing they would return my security deposit when I moved to California and never did.
Both the realtor and the landlords stopped answering my calls leaving me no choice other than sue the landlord in small claims court.
I do not recommend this realtor group as they do business with corrupt landlords they call friends.

I used Proper for the second time recently and was certainly happy that I did. I've gone through the rental process a total of five times in Boston and had nothing but difficulty except for my move to Brighton last year through Proper. When it came time to look again, I noticed an ad online from one of their agents, Patrick, and responded. Another smooth transition, this time from Brighton to Brookline. Keep up the good work for next year!

As an interior designer attention to detail is of utmost importance. It is something my clients appreciate in me, and I in turn appreciate in others. Ben is my brother and though I of course love and respect him, I have a new found extremely high regard for his attention to detail. Ben recently put me in contact with one of his clients. This client was looking for help in renovating two bathrooms and updating a kitchen in a Beacon Hill condominium in preparation for putting it on the market. There is a long way to go before the home is finished and ready to list. Most other agents would fade away until they were needed. Ben has been in constant contact with his client as well as myself wanting to keep in the loop and know as to the status of the renovations. He has also recommended a contractor to do the work. His attention to all the details of the renovation as well as high amount of attention he pays to his clients and willingness to go the extra mile speaks volumes for the service he provides to his clients.

This past summer, my parents and I started looking for a summer home on Cape Cod. My mom s family owns a home in Hyannis, but all of us are older now, so we need a home with more space. We needed some consultation to begin our search. So, my parents have known Ipyana for many years. After a good meeting, Ipyana sent us to the Proper Realty Group website and had us view selected videos of every property he thought might interest us. We live in New York, so this technology was extremely convenient and really efficient. We have yet to buy, but when we do, we will be sure to continue using Ipyana and Proper Realty as our go to team.

Very very irresponsible agency. I drove 40 minutes to see an apartment on Saturday and the property manager "supposedly" cancel when we arrived to see it. We then rescheduled for Sunday, and when we arrived we were told that the pricing had changed somehow from 1,700-1950. We drove twice to see this apartment and they didn't even consider negotiating the price with us. DO NOT TRUST. SKETCHY.
