Burger was great, and the host for the trivia night is at the top of their game

friendly, live music and on Mondays at lunch they are quiet and the parma is magical.

Great place to have a take away tap beer !!! I also took the opportunity to grab the Sunday Roast - great price and great food. It was a generous portion and was very tasty. Even though we are in tough times, it is good to have some nice food, an ice cold tap beer and support a local which is good for the community and the soul :) Excellent job in tough times Prince Alfred, I will be back.

There aren't many places I would leave a recommendation for, but the Prince Alfred is absolutely worth it.
I booked my work-team's EOY event here, and had any and all expectations thoroughly exceeded. The polite staff accommodated us very well, even after we requested to move from a spot we had initially reserved to a quieter area upstairs.
The beer selection is fantastic, and the chili-fries and chicken starters were the crowd favourites - both of which we agreed we'd go back for. To top it off, the burgers were delicious (and huge), leaving us completely stuffed.
I managed to squeeze in the chocolate brownie and ice-cream, which again, was as decadent as can be.
Excellent service, excellent atmosphere, excellent food and beer. We will be back!

Friendly local pub with an cosy atmosphere and an excellent range of beers, changing what's on tap (and in tinnies and stubbies) seasonally. Great menu with lots of great-value burgers.

Friendly atmosphere. Trivia nights on Tuesday are great fun. Best take on happy hour where the cost of the beers increases a dollar per hour. Burgers are varied and tasty and not expensive if you have them on Tuesdays.

Solid pub, awesome staff, good food and great beer!

Waited over an hour and 15 mins for food. Staff didn't manage the expectations on the wait on taking the order or throughout the wait. instead the waiter was rude and standoffish, no attempts to dissipate the situation at all.

Huge selection of craft beers, fun trivia on Tuesdays with all burgers @$15 and pie/pint on Thursdays. Cosy and welcoming. Much better than it looks from the outside.

Parma is a screaming good deal for $10 bucks at lunch, and really hit the spot. Good collection of beers. I'll be back.

The ambiance here is second to none, even with restrictions that must be so challenging during these COVID times. My first time here and I felt like a welcomed guest into someone s home. A fantastic parmigiana and chips that surely all potatoes must aspire to become when they grow up. Many thanks for your hospitality - I will be back.

Really yummy food, kind staff and a clean and pub style environment. Wide range of food and drinks to choose from - and different seating to sit everyone. Chicken Parma was a stand out dish.

Always really good food and fresh craft beers. They have been serving all sorts of meals with an alternating menu lately (on top of the normal menu). Favorites are the brisket sandwich and coffee soaked bacon waffles. Yum!

Lively music on a Friday night, filled with customers having a laugh and a good time. Ordered a sangria and it was large enough to share and delicious enough for the price. Ordered a bit of food and was disappointed by the size of the Parma (a bit smaller than others around that are similarly priced) but enjoyed the chips. Wait staff corrected an error made on the dipping sauce for our chips without a fuss and answered our questions with ease. Enjoyed trying to get a board game or two going but didn't have time with the food and conversation. Good selection of board games though! Not the place if you are looking for a quiet weekend date night but sure was a blast!

Great food, great friendly service and excellent selection of quality beers. Have hosted a couple of corporate and personal functions here too and really happy with their service and reasonable prices. Highly recommend this place.

Turned up on a Saturday night and was asked if I had a booking. I didn't, but friends were inside, but apparently there were too many guys in the place even though most my friends were girls. Please make sure that if you're heading to this place, to ensure you have a booking...

I witnessed a security guard verbally and physically attack a man and woman. They were terrified and trying to explain to him that they had a key and had permission to be where they were but he kept screaming at them both and forcefully grabbing the man. They did nothing wrong and had permission to be where they were. The owners were completely unreasonable, making them leave the venue, where their family and friends were. I will never go to this venue again, nor would I recommend anyone go; it felt like a very unsafe environment. Security guards are meant to be there for safety, not to abuse their power while under the influence. Absolutely disgusted at the owners response to this situation.

We went as a group... several meal orders were lost and had to be remade. Several came out wrong. And the tap beers are a bit expensive. Having tasted The Duke Original (quite bland, very dry) and the Chicken Parmigiana (overly thick untasty dry crust, not fresh chicken) - I really feel this place does not rate. The amount of amazing pubs that exist in Melbourne that can balance a fantastic kitchen, bar and service - this one falls really short of the mark.

Would need to improve it's game a lot for me to want to come back.

Fantastic pub! One of my faves. Tom is an extremely friendly and courteous publican and his team all practise the same sentiment. Great range of beers and food; specials to boot and always something to watch. Live bands; pool and a great mix of locals; just many things on offer.

Wow what a change this from the old Prince from 4 years ago. New owner knows what he is doing. Good food good beer on tap. Great local hosp vibe.

Iv lived in port Melbourne for over 12 years. I can say since Tom took over, every part of my pub experience here Tom and his crew have gone far and beyond expectations.
The food is dynamight, service is second to none and the live music is fabulous. Thier product knowledge on the beers have been extensive and im always thrilled to try a new one they have on tape that never fails to satisfy.

The atmosphere is my next favourite to the customer service. Its beautiful clean restrooms and brick feature walls. The soft lighting and distinguished down lights around the bar, arch windows and comfortable seating invites you in to a feeling that is the marriage of the choice of spectacular food, top shelf service incapsulated in a stunning home like comfortable ambiance.
An absolute full body satiation of the senses.

This place is pretty awesome. Was here on a Saturday night. Example of the service: I grabbed a bottle of water and poured drinks for my friends. I finished the bottle and then next minute (nekminnit) the bottle of water was filled. Um want evidence? Check out the photo ok? Kthx

FINALLY!!! Someone has done it right! A much needed revival of the most iconic pub in Port Melbourne. A true pleasure with a local vibe with great staff. VERY Reasonable priced and a great range of drinks and food is really good. So HAPPY they re trying to bring back a bit of life to this area.

By far the best option for a deep range of craft beer in Port Melbourne and surrounds. Mostly local options and many proper pints priced around $13 which is good going. Food solid and you won't be disappointed. Service and warm attitude from staff was some of the best I have ever experienced in Melbourne. A shame it won't be my local for too much longer.

Great Pub. Beer is "freezing cold" and the place has an old time feel to it.
Compared to the Pubs near the beach it wins hands down.
