Terrific to be back at the Prince Alfred Hotel post isolation tonight as locals supporting our local...Tom, Anna and the Team provided great service and fantastic food...along with the best selection of beers in Bay Street. We can't wait for the completion of the outside deck...!

This review is on two parts. 1. Food (5 star) 2. Covid-19 safety
1. Food, drinks, service and ambience. The on-tap beer is exceptional. We ordered from the specials tonight which was risotto, and crab with Rice. Both were 10/10 delicious. Every time we have been to this pub the service is exceptionally friendly. Even though they're always run off their feet (because of how popular it is!), they always take the time to give each customer friendly attention. I really don't know how they do it. I love the vibe of this pub. It's got a traditional English pub feel without feeling like a dingy old-mans pub. It's modern and hip with a splash of heritage. It's the perfect blend.
Covod-19 They have taken this Pandemic very seriously to ensure we are safe. Tables disinfected corner to corner between customers. Tables spaced out. Not crowded inside. Staff don't stand too close when speaking to you. They take details to ensure contact tracing. Hand sanitizer as you arrive. Menus are single-use or cleaned between customers. They're even temperature checking upon arrival. I felt very safe.
The pinnacle of the many pubs on Bay Street, a revolving selection of beers (IPA heaven), top burgers (the Duke 2.0 is superb) and fun Trivia on Tuesdays. Topped off with friendly staff, can't go wrong with a visit to the PA's.
I avoided it for a while because of a few average owners but new owners/management have turned it around. Superb service, excellent menu, good beer selection. Definitely staking a legitimate claim for the local pub of choice and showing that bay St North CAN have a decent pub on it!
Awesome local pub in Port Melbourne. Great selection of craft beers, top notch pub food and a bunch of first class humans behind the bar. Also: pool, trivia, great music. Pretty much the perfect pub
We recently held our work Christmas Party at the Prince Alfred and what a fantastic decision that was ! They were amazing and super accommodating with our food options, timing and seating arrangements etc. Great venue, well priced and fantastic customer service! Will be back!
What a great Sunday meal, 8 of us had lunch there last Sunday a great selection of food. All food was great, and truly friendly staff. Highly recommend. John Couch Port Melbourne.
Had such a great day here for Melbourne Cup! Anna and Brooke have such great energy and a lot of knowledge, but in general everyone working was so friendly This was my first time at the Prince Alfred and I ll definitely be back
Such a great spot. Staff are amazing food is great. If you re in port melbourne looking for some solid pub grub and a solid beer list it s definitely worth the stop
The Duke Silver burger... 5 stars! About the best burger around. Beef, bacon, pulled pork, egg, cheese, pickles, mustard BBQ sauce & onion rings. Why didn't I take a photo of it.
Awesome Venue! The staff are are a top group of people behind the bar always willing to assist you. Music was great the day we went for lunch , we all had the steaks they were awesome and pizzas were pretty damn good as well ...
Had my daughters 21st Birthday at the Prince Alfred last night, what a great night. Food was excellent, service was 5 star. The new owners have made this classic pub a place to visit & more importantly return. Well done & thank you to Nick & the team for making our night a special one.
Excellent service good pub food. Hubby had the ravioli special I had the chicken burger & was recommended to only have 1 serve of chicken which I m highly grateful for as serve was big. Bigs cheers to Brooke for service
We ate here for dinner on Easter Sunday 2021. We had a great experience and will absolutely go back. The staff were super friendly and helpful, the menu is diverse and reasonably priced, and the food was really good quality. We couldn't quite decide what we each wanted (lots of good choices!) so we just bought a few plates and shared them. Special mention for the Sunday roast..... different, yes, but in a good way.
Friendly staff, quality beer, great food & although they have live music playing songs people know is a sure fire way of getting people to stay & therefore spend more - that's my I left - 2 sets & not 1 song I knew - just say'n
I ordered a Black Prince and I think the pulled beed was too fatty. Also, my friends ordered burguers and we think burguers could be a bit bigger for the price. But, they were all rrslly good and tasty. And I loved their hand soap in the toilets.
1st time at this pub and was very impressed. We had a party of 6 and 5 of us chose the Parma for lunch but I broke the mould and had the Prawn and Squid Linguine which was awesome. Glad I chose against the grain. The staff were very friendly and offered sample tests of beers. Beers were cold and delicious. Travelled from Scoresby to join friends for lunch and would definitely do it again.
Very nice pub. We went with our kids and the staff brought around some Uno cards & colouring sheets for them, we joined in the trivia night that happened to be on. Everyone's food was good (apart from tofu Parma which apparently wasn't that great), the chips are awesome (good seasoning). Would recommend this place
This is one of my favourite watering holes - has a great vibe which stems from the brilliant owners; trickling down to the amazing staff. The food is great - check it out!
A nice bar with a pool table and friendly atmosphere, good food, coffee and a wide Verity of alcoholic beverages some live music and trivia on Wednesday nights.
Been here a few times in the past couple of months for the 'express' lunch on a Friday with coworkers. Each time they take 1 hour + to deliver the food & on more than one occasion they have made mistakes by either getting an order wrong, or forgetting an order (or in one case, numerous orders) altogether. Today we had approx 10 people, 3 people ate & the other 7 waited around 75 minutes before getting refunds. Only plus was that we got some free wine / beer.. but hardly what you want when you have to go back to work. Tragic experience overall, would not recommend.
Our meals were delicious, the beers were interesting, the staff were friendly, welcoming, and efficient, and Josh the trivia host ran what was hands down the best trivia any of us had ever experienced - I've been to a number of quizzes by quizmeisters and other companies but this guy is on another level. Definitely recommend the Thursday night trivia - and recommend this wonderful welcoming pub at any time for the high quality of food and drink and service. Can't wait to go back!
round and sweaty security guard assaulted patron who had just eaten dinner and had two drinks (which was on the house as we were on the door with a band), there were multiple, un-biased witnesses, management apologise later to the band playing the gig and not the actual victim. victim was kicked out for asking the security guard if the owner or manager could mediate the miscommunication. tall, blonde 'sharon' haircut lady (owner/management?) gloating about flaunting covid-mask restrictions on NYE to the band - umm, one of the members has a severe condition leaving him immunocompromised.. not cool. 0/10
oh, apparently this security guard was told not to enter South Australia again after an assault, so I suppose owners are used to this and don't consider this type of behaviour abnormal.
