If you are an inexperienced driver and need a CDL, this is the place to be.
Also, dont let them tell you that you cant do dedicated right out of training, because you can, and I did without any problems.
If you dont want to do OTR you can tell your dispatch. At far as I know Prime has a Walmart dedicated route.
Tell your dispatch to give you info to the dispatcher in charge of Walmart dedicated and Express to them your intentions if dedicated is what you want to do.
Also there are other dedicated routes out there. Just ask and be sure to talk to your fellow employees. They can do more for you most times then what dispatch can do.
Also Prime will never have you sitting. There are plenty of loads.
Also, you have a choice to be either trained in Flatbed, Intermodal, Refrigerated/Dry Van, or Tanker.
Flatbed and Tanker make the most money and intermodal has excellent local jobs that pay well.
They'll always push for you to learn refrigerated/Box because it pays less and is needed more.
But the money is in:
#1 flatbed
#2 Tanker
Also when doing your second half of training.
Notate all miles driven.
Your trainer will try to milk you so you can go over your 30000 miles.
Because the longer you stay on his truck, the more he makes.
You'll be guaranteed $700 while hell be getting the extra money from the none stop loads you'll be making for him because you'll be "team drivers"
So as soon as you hit 30000 contact your dispatch and ask to be able to get back to take your CDL test (if and when you're ready).
Then you'll be off with your own truck.
Good luck
Worst trucking company around. They treat you like crap because your just a number to them. Thinking about leasing from them, think again $1300. A week with all the little add ons they throw at you and then they dont give you the runs to make it and put you in the hole. The place has a bad attitude all around especially the log department and reefer dispatch. See that new addition they just put up, its from the money from the lease operators. Home time? You hardly get any regardless of what they tell you. If your a kiss ass like the people that rate this place 5 stars then you might like it.
I been driving for 9 yrs. Prime Inc is the first company I ever drive for. Nobody's yard's can compare to Prime's. Great Job Rob. And let's not forget Springfield has the best Philly Cheese Steak's. I really miss the people there. Hands down the best company ever.
Prime inc is trash. After truck driving school, I took a greyhound bus from okc to Springfield for their orientation. The 2nd day I was there the doctor called me in. He wanted to see my long form dd form 214. Anybody in the military knows what that is. I told him I got out honorably and it shows that on my short form and by law I dont have to show you the long form and by law you re not supposed to ask why i got out. Long story short, that trash company that tries to act like they support veterans sent me home. To hell with prime inc. They discriminate against veterans.
New Prime and Jeff Pearson, hands down the most disrespectful brokers I have ever dealt with! They screwed up and instead of taking the blame, put me down for it.
You had it comin' Prime. An 8' x 10' space is too small for 2 people, and we both know you just want teams and trainers.
Never gonna put up with 6 weeks without pay from a company again. Ever. Especially if they follow it up with some "Terms and Conditions" course (Ace2) back at the terminal.
Took 1 and a half weeks off, no e-fund, stuck in Pennsylvania for 2 weeks, running 62 to 65? That all added up to 6 weeks of no pay for me early into driving.
Tl;dr:
They run you like their equipment. New trucks, new drivers, used up, and out of there in 1 to 3 years. It's a revolving door of fresh blood for this vampire. They bleed you, push for more, or toss you out. Use them
by running 58 mph or lower for fuel, run long hours, get an emergency fund, get out of big cities/consumer markets, and TAKE TIME OFF!!!
The long version:
Again, I used Prime as much as they used me. That's how you make it work. I got my CDL with them BUT I started with 2 CDL classes at a community college back home. I got a Greyhound to SLC, orientation, simulator time, PSD, trifecta on the test, TNT, and then I was aiming for company.
I am 100% sure I would have failed the CDL test if I JUST learned through Prime. I know that because I saw 3 other students fail at least 1 time. My PSD trainer was a nutjob going through a divorce. My TNT trainer was a Prime repeat offender. Guy came and went at least 3x before. Generally left me alone, but I think he wanted to be a team driver. I needed training on trip planning.
When I'm ready to go solo they show me The Leasemaker. The Leasemaker is a 2015 International Lightweight they keep behind the detail shop collecting dust. It's batteries were dead, so I had it jumped. Twice. Tires weren't too good, and the mileage was suspicious for how old it was. I heard about how my PSD trainer slept on an exit ramp to push-start the truck because Prime was dragging their feet on repairs. One time I jokingly said, "Man, I can't wait to get me a brand new 2019 Cascadia!" he said, "You'll take whatever they give you!"
So I asked my TNT trainer about it and he said that truck was garbage and a bad brand. So I took the papers back to Leasing. They gave them back. They said, "I don't have any more trucks for you. Take those papers to bay 47." So I had it jumped. Took the papers to bay 47 and they said, "You have to do the inspection." So I said, "Oh... I see. So I'm supposed to inspect the truck." Nobody told me that. So I mention everything and how I don't want it. Then she says to take the papers back to Leasing, and Leasing says to take them back to Bay 47.
The next day I decided to go Lease.
1 week later I have a business bank account, an LLC, a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution, and a dispatcher for some loads.
11 months after that I have so many service failure records that my contract was cut. I'm not gonna miss my dispatcher. Prime says, "You can shut that truck off whenever you want" DISPATCHER says, "Yeeeeaaah, but I'mma need 2 weeks in advance." The guy SUDDENLY stopped yelling at me for mistakes at the 7 month mark about (probably reported by his coworkers), but I had some hiccups here and there. It was a vicious cycle of:
- Make a mistake.
- Get cussed out by dispatcher.
- Say I'll to do better.
- Take a load that's high mileage.
- Try to run at 58.
- Sleep poorly.
- Don't eat well and get nasty because I'm running so much.
- Get depressed.
- Oversleep and run 65.
- Make another mistake.
I had 1 joke of an accident at fault that charged me $500, and 1 not at fault. Truck was kept pristine, and Prime knows a bit of damage was caused by a CRST hit-and-run in Baltimore.
Truck's finished with its inspection. I hope I'm not charged too much for these minor issues.
Edit:
Thought I'd add some things. My emergency fund was up to $3900. So the reason why I did the stupid newbie thing and got a brand new truck when leasing is because I wouldn't want something unexpected with a secondhand truck. You can and absolutely will miss or not look at something during an inspection. Then you're in the hole early on.
Tell the driver pulling trailer #163070 to give more than 5ft of space when getting in front of other vehicles. 1/21/2020 US-69 Calera, OK @13:33. THANX
I've been driving since 96 been with Prime almost 3yrs. No tickets or problems with the law. Turned my truck speed from 65 to 55. Thanks for the pay cut right before the holidays. Dont expect loads to be on time.
Correction, according to my speedo and radar in construction zone I can do 57. Might as well be 55. Sorry for the erroneous info.
Been a Instructor/trainer here for some years. You have good times and bad. It's what you make of it and your ability to manage money.
All of the trainers here are Owner/Operators. Don't bother with going here as a student. Only go if you're trained, and interested in their lease program. The trainers are only out for themselves, so don't fall into that trap.
Just witnessed one of your drivers nearly run 2 vehicles off the road. Incident occurred at approximately 4:50pm on Sunday, May 19 on I-26 at MM 144. License plate is 03B-446. Mississippi tag. There is also a vehicle number on the front of the truck (660837).
Is an ok company as a company driver but if you want to be more than a company driver and be successful then you need to look somewhere else
Sucks big time I worked there a month an only took home a 1000 for 4 weeks
Emailed these guys about their columbia sc driver lack of consideration for parking and residential safety. Obviously they have not trained their workers were to park because im looking at a rig tag# 44k rov parked in front on my classic car and truck instead of a trucking lot. I have 17 and 17.9 wheels I have to turn a lil more than usual to get of my parking space and your clown driver knows that. I urge everyone to invest in amazon they are working on drone tech which is waaaaay better than truckers harming the eco. System as well.
Prime inc is lowering pay and making student and Cdl holders with less than 6 months experience, drive more miles while in training. 600 to 800 dollars a week while driving 2500 miles a week, yeah right? Be ready to slave away when you come work for this company. I guess they need the money for when they loss that lawsuit going to the Supreme Court. Better off going to swift at this point. RUN!!!
Passed one of their mid roof flatbed trucks with a small Confederate flag flying on the rear drivers side. I ll just say it says ALOT about this company s culture to be ok with such a display.
Shamelessly seeking something for nothing against Amazon Prime. The trucking industry ebbs and flows and Prime inc seeks to gain money from another companies success. Ashamed of yet another socialist company from Missouri. As a shipping manager of one of the nation's largest paper companies we will eagerly use any other carrier regardless of cost.
I have worked here 15+ years, can't imagine working anywhere else!!!!!
I got my CDL with Prime Inc. In 2009 They had a clean beautiful Terminal in Springfield MO. My Trainer was have crazy and chewed straws all day the man was a lease driver/ trainer and he was stressed out bad. He didn't do a good job teaching me to back. Thankfully Prime had good people at the Terminal that spent the weekend with me teaching me so I could get my CDL.
I had a Family Emergency at home and had to leave. 3 weeks later I called them eager to return I was about a month away from getting my own truck as a company driver. They said I couldn't come back. I was very surprised and kinda devastated. I wish things could have been Different.....
Places lockdown LOL like Fort Knox LOL but they seem to have their shift together
The dispatchers don't treat you with respect. After being on the road for 10 weeks straight I should have gotten 10 days at home. After only 5 my dispatcher called but couldn't get a hold if me due to being with family. So he had my truck towed back to Springfield with all my stuff in it. And I still haven't got anything of my things.
Takes too damned long to get through inbound/outbound
Great people orientation is a breeze so far can't wait to get running...... Addition January 15th been running for a while love this company great pay great dispatch great truck definitely recommended!!!
Best of the best
My respet to all the staff there
Specially for Mr Robert Lowe
Do they do hair follicle drug test or normal urine drug test for new hires
My training starts Monday 23,2016. I have been very satisfied with the whole process of getting recruited for orientation. I would like to give a big shout out to D.Bell, awesome recruiter. I've read a lot of the reviews & I agree with the drivers that says, it is up to that individual to sacrifice, work hard, learn the business, don't complain & get in good with your DM & dispatchers. Every company has it good & bad but one thing is fact, if you go into any thing in life with a bad/negative attitude you will get bad/negative results. Safety, Quality & Quantity* Drive Safe, Take care of Freight more Miles Will Come*
Worst mistake of my life. Waited to long and when I did get a load it was dirt cheap.
Don't agree on the trainers pay the students wages. Yes nice terminals but terminals don't pay my bills. Sales is a joke. Making a hell a lot more here where I'm at now doing flat bed.
Plus I'm home every two weeks for at least for the weekend.
The dispatches very pleasant to speak with. I call about my grandson who drives for them. Explain that he needed to call home They tracked him right away and had him to return my call right away. All Companys don't do that, Prime is A very good company to invest in.
Main terminal..ok..for the most part.. every thing the driver needs in one place.
Never go to work for this company I've experienced first hand how lousy this company treats you with your pay time away from your home we have lost everything we ever own house, insurance health and vehicle this is no joke working at Taco Bell is more honest living then Prime logistic you've been warn, don't apply.
They suck an don't pay you what they say they are going to pay u. If the tell u your going to make 42 cents a mile at the start of things .They are lying you only make 34 cents. It's a lie to get u to work for them .
This company has given me a start in trucking by training me and providing me with the opportunity to get my CDL. I have had nothing but positive experiences so far and I'm really excited for this lifestyle and opportunity to provide for my family. Everyone has been friendly and helpful in my journey and I recommend prime to anyone looking for a better company and especially if you are looking to get your CDL. If you are hungry for growth and development they will help you.
Is a excellent company to drive good pay and good mileage
Good place of employment. Treats us all like family
Great company. Love my job and the paycheck is muy bueno. Great equipment and friendly staff.
I got my CDL License from this company i had a great experience with them. I would say it's the best company i have every worked. Now, i don't workd for anymore, because i wanted be home more often with my wife and kids, so i left. I still loved. I I realy do. I you wanna make quick money or may be you wanna buy your own truck, this is the only way, i would go. Good luck.
Do not go work for this company!!! They lure you into a contract and then back you into a corner to lease if you want to make any miles and then you will be lucky to make enough miles to make your payment let alone live on also. Do NOT work for a mega carriers!!! It all looks very good but they are very crooked at the core. Also be prepared to have your truck governed to 58 and can get it to 62mph with the cruise control. Very dangerous (especially when the speed limit on some interstates is 80mph)!!! Also it s forced dispatch!!!!
Great place to work. Very nice caring staff who does their job's effectively and proficient. So happy to work here.
Worked for prime back in 2012 and I loved every bit of it and had the BEST hands down trainer/team driver ever!!!
All around the company is a great and is definitely a good company to get your feet wet and start out at or even longterm wise.
The company is a scam. It keeps showing up that I drove for them. I never sat in one of their trucks. Having my lawyer check into them and straighten this mess out. What a fraud.
Hubby drives for Prime & this place is great...The people that work here are so nice, the food is amazing with so many choices and the dog area is great especially for a dog that needs to get out of the truck for more than just a quick potty break ...
Teach your newbies to park .
Yall block up the road with your bad driving then park in rest areas and mess that up too.
Lines mean something.
Prime swift and werner have screwed this industry up so bad its funny.
Truck drivers are the new McDonalds employee.
Lol.
Your driver is here in NC lost thinks she is in Mississippi.
To funny .
I gave her my old atlas put her on the right page.
Steam shower was awesome!!. Worked great! Cafe is great Movie theatre very nice. Mechanics work fast.
Robert low is a thief who did not pay me my salary. Since he put me in a coach who did not know how to park because he hit a trailer in New Mexico. This Robert nomas rat uses students to avoid paying wages. And for that it uses well-trained managers to exploit and mistreat students and not to pay their salaries. Robert "i pickpocket" Low hire trainers who text, drive, lift weights, speak in the phone while driving.
Although Prime is my 2nd trucking company they will be my last. I love my job here at Prime and my pay checks are so much better than my previous company. Prime actually cares and my fleet manager is awesome.
We are not cut to 62 or 58 company is 62 lease is 65. Lease doesn't run mileage we run freight rates 70 and 72%. Just remember boys and girls your DM can make or brake you at any company
Our Student coming from Windermere Camp bus broke down on the ramp by Prime Inc. Stephen from this wonderful place came and picked up our students from the hot bus and took care of them until we got our bus fixed. Prime made a very bad situation not so bad for our students. Thank you so much!!!

As always, PRIME Inc facilities are state of the art and adequate.
Went with a family member to the medical area. Was very impressed with the entire facility.
This company has been a positive changed in my life. I've been with Prime 5 years now under the lease program Great company to work for.
Great place to work, clean, well staffed, well maintained, landscaping spectacular, food ok, it is deli line, pizzas are great, lots of healthy choices, gym, spa, massages, salons, daycare, company store with variety of sizes including children's clothing, theater, showers.
An awesome place with every driver service you could need...for a prime employee.
This is if not the worst trucking company it s absolutely one of them ..... I m currently working with prime since 2017 and I m ready to the next level .... here with prime I m just a number and everyone NO exception careless.
Train the training pad was hot, and poorly organized.
